21~ Victor X Yuri - The School Nerd
"Yeah, well if you were an anime your manga version would be waay better!"
I tried to sound at least a little threatening as I watched them walk away, my voice cracking on the last word. "Tch. Stupid people. Just leave me alone." I muttered to myself as I picked up all my heavy textbooks which had been sprawled out all over the floor :(((
~
I, Katsuki Yuri, am unfortunately a nerd. And yes, that was me throwing my undoubtedly awesome insults at the school bullies.
For the last six months, at least twice a week, a small group of people have been tormenting me and throwing my stuff around. Why?Because...they can?
I mean, what can I do about it. Chuck a calculator at them with the number 666 displayed? - I may have tried to...and I don't really need to explain the outcome, except for it involved a bloody nose and more torn textbooks.
So here I am- its the end of the school day. My higher physics books and large collection of manga are littering the hallway free for anyone to so and laugh at as they walk past me. Oh what a great life I have.
~
As I knelt down to pick the books, I spotted a pair of legs in front of me holding out a book that had been dropped.
"Here."
From my crouched position on the floor, I looked up at who had helped me.
'GAAAHH. ITS VICTOR FUCKING NIKIFOROV. DINFJDJDJJDXJDJDB. HELP ME JESUS. SAY THANK YOU. KENFNEKD SAY SOMETHING!'
It was only one of the most popular people in school. He was incredibly handsome and had only moved schools to here a couple months ago from Russia. Everyone loved him instantly.
As I said- he was extremely popular, AND was talking to me. *well he said one word* So what was I going to do? I was going to look at him dumbfounded- my mouth opening and closing like idiot. To be completely honest I did sound like a llama who was worryingly having more then one seizure at a time.
'WORDS WHY WON'T YOU WORK.'
I had already fucked this up.
"Are you okay? Yuri right?"
'AGAIN. HE SPOKE AGAIN. He knows my name!!! Coincidence? I think not.'
This time however I managed to nod and grab the book from his grasp- shove it into my bag then run off. Congrats me.
I ran as fast as I could, stumbling a bit as I ran. I ignored the laughter and weirded out expressions of everyone around me until I got to the back of the school.
"Pfft oh my god. Victor Nikiforov knows my name." I sighed, slumping down a wall and pushing my blue glasses up. "How?!! I'm not in any of his classes and I've never spoken to him."
Deciding to figure this out another time, I reached over to my bag and searched for my physics book. It wasn't there.
"Oh crap. I think it's still on the floor!!" I said as I got to my feet. Suddenly my head got pushed up against the wall I had previously been leaning against. My glasses fell to the floor then the sound of them being crushed soon came after.
Being basically blind, I couldn't see what had pushed me but nonetheless I had a pretty good idea as to who had.
"W-why are you doing this to me!" I called out to them.
"Does there have to be a reason?" A ruff voice said lowly, followed by the laughing of his friends behind him.
"Y-yes!"
"What?!"
His voice sliced the very air I dared not even breathe at the moment. Like a dark dye against a piece of paper, the words he spoke seemed to stain everything. Slicing the damp paper at the end.
The right side of my head erupted into pain as it got pushed harder up against the brick.
"THE FUCK YOU TALKING BACK FOR."
"THE BULLY ALWAYS HAS AN ULTERIOR MOTIVE TO HURT THE VICTIM OTHER TH-" I would have gone on if it weren't for the sudden release I got from the brick wall. My body fell to the floor as the bullies grip ceased completely.
With my head still hurting, I looked around me- despite my vision still being poor.
My eyes widened as the group surrounding me all walked away not even bothering to throw another confidence crushing line as they went.
I mean not that it mattered. My confidence had already been crushed many times by now anyways.
But back to the bullies just leaving. Was it a teacher? No. That had happened before, but the teacher ended up running away after being threatened. Then what?
"You alright? Your head is bleeding." A hand was extended towards me.
'No way!'
"Ugh yeah I think so." I said as I took the hand and stood up.
"Do you need any help?"
"No I'm okay. Victor, right?" I don't know how I did it, but words actually formed properly this time. He nodded and passed me my crushed glasses from the floor.
"I came to find you since you left a book on the floor earlier." He laughed out with a heart shaped smile. Victor handed me the physics book I had been looking for.
I took it then shoved it in my bag.
"Thanks. I'll be going now. I'm sure it's not exactly good for your reputation if you're seen with me." Lowering my head, I started to walk quickly away.
"Huh? Hey, wait!" I was suddenly spun around to face Victor. His icy blue eyes staring into my dark ones. "What's wrong with being seen with you?" He questioned, tilting his head to the side.
This almost made me laugh.
"Really? You don't know?" I said sarcastically as I started to walk away again. This time however, Victor followed. Walking beside me.
"Well." I turned to him. "In case you didn't know. I'm a nerd. People look down on me because I'm smart. I'm not good at talking to people, I get nervous around people and whenever I get caught in a complicated situation- I word barf. Not to mention, what little confidence I had before coming to this school has been completely crushed. So in cause you didn't know, Victor Nikiforov, that's why it's unnatural for popular people such as yourself, to talk to useless nobodies such as me. Oh and also- don't believe the rumours. I do not have rabies."
I had said my piece, and had from what I could see, left Victor stunned. He was frozen on the spot not moving- he just had an extremely concentrated expression.
And with that I walked away.
---
The next few days were weird for me. Not a single bad word of shoving up against any walls.
I was walking through the corridors once again, when a group of popular girls walked past me muttering under their breaths and sniggering.
"Oh yeah. Don't get near him."
"Yeah. He has like rabies or something."
"Uh huh. That's why no one speaks to him."
I didn't know why I was getting all upset. Wasn't I used to it by now? I mean, sure, it had stopped for a week or two- but didn't I always expect it to come right back again. Yes. I did.
From the corner of my eye- literally out of nowhere- a glaring Victor came storming past me. I knew exactly where he was going with this.
"No Victor don't it's-" I tried to stop him, but he just ignored me.
I watched scared as he walked up to the group of girls. Instantly they turned to jelly and were all over him, drowning him in compliments and flirty looks. From where I was standing, a girl was about to put an arm around Victor. Shockingly, he took a step back and waved her off.
"I guess your ass must be jealous of the amount of shit that comes out your mouth, huh?"
And he walked away back over to me. Leaving the girls stunned. Their mouths open in shock and their eyes watering slightly- making their cheeks become tainted with dark mascara marks.
Victor came up to me smirking as he put his arm around me and we walked away.
---
It had now been three months since I became friends with Victor- and three whole months without bullying.
Of course, once the Russian started hanging out with me- he was no longer the most poplar guy, but people still talked about him and confessed to him every so often. But what really struck me about that was every single loving confession that came his way- he always turned them down. No matter if they were the prettiest girl, the sweetest or the hottest.
We were walking back to my house after school one time, and I finally brought it up. The question that had been bugging me for ages.
"Hey Victor. I always wondered." I took a moment to think about what I was going to say. "You get so many girls falling for you and asking you out- but why don't you accept them?"
There was a moment of silence. Just the crunching of leaves beneath our feet.
"Hmm. Good question Yuri. Want me to tell you?" He stopped walking to face me.
"So long as it's not like- 'oh I can't be in a relationship because of a rare disease I have, I will only hurt the other when I die!!'- or something." I acted out dramatically causing Victor to laugh.
"Haha no. It's much simpler then that. I was gonna wait, but hey. Now seems a good time I guess."
I watched, confused, as he shrugged then took a breath before he leaned in towards me and placed his soft lips upon mine.
I let my cheeks flush bright red and my eyes grow in shock. Then I kissed back. At the end of it all, he cradled me in his arms.
"Yuri...please be with me."
'Victor liked me? Well...if he did- he had really done a good job at hiding it. But who am I to complain- I kinda did like him to.'
With the orangey-pink sun setting behind us- the horizon lined by trees- it almost was like a cliche romance move scene. Nonetheless, I still hugged him back, whispering so only he could hear me.
"Okay..."
--------
I really apologise it's late, but hey. It's a longer one to make up for it.
Thanks for 11K and for reading :)
