1~ Victor X Yuri - Just a Milkshake Guy.
It was like any other day at the ice rink. Not really that busy, but enough so that you couldn't hear yourself think. At least, thats what I thought.
My name is Katsuki Yuri. 23 years old, and I work at an ice rink. I know it sounds cool, but trust me. It's honestly not...especially since I don't actually help out with the ice skating at all. In fact, I'm no where near associated with it.
I sell milkshakes at a stall inside the ice rink...yes, fun. I know. And the worst part is....I can't even drink the milkshakes ಠ_ಠ
So, today I got up, left my house I share with my parents, then headed to the rink. I got there on time, and started to do the daily milkshake-selling. Nothing much was happening, then again nothing much did.
The most exciting thing that's ever happened here was when this kid was skating in circles on the rink really quickly; then lost control and slammed into the metal rail used to hold onto if your not confident at skating. The annoying part was when his nose started to bleed and I was the one asked to clean it up
(ง T ∀ T )ง
Anyways, back to now where I'm staring into nothingness, waiting for a customer while happy families and couples prance and fall on the rink.
"Excuse me!!?" My head snapped towards a middle aged woman, her child held her hand- trying not to fall over since she still had her skates on.
"Hi. Can I help?" I tiredly aksed them, trying to keep in a yawn.
"Ugh yeah." The woman snapped with a slight attitude. "My daughter here was skating on the ice, for the 'children only' session- when this man comes onto the rink and starts doing all these frooty loopy spins and shazams."
I almost burst out laughing at her choice of words, but kept it down. "Oh. Well I just sell milkshakes I can't real-"
"Could you tell him to get off before he flies into one of the children, and seriously injures them." And with that, she stormed off looking over her shoulder a few times to check I was dealing with her request.
Sighing out of annoyance, I slowly stood up and made my way to the side of the rink. I was surprised to see a crowd had gathered- making it hard to see.
"Excuse me. Sorry, I need to get throu-" The path of people cleared and that's when it saw what the woman was talking about. A man, doing a bunch of frooty loopy spins and shazams.
Probably some old guy confused with the skating times. I mean his hair color is gr-
I almost chocked on my own thoughts as the supposed 'old man' jumped into the air, doing multiple spins then landing perfectly onto the ice. His arms here high in the air, a look of accomplishment on his focused face. I could now clearly see this man was not at all old. Late 20's at most.
It was outstanding. The way his hair moved as he flew through the air, his eyes glistening in the light. His cheeks pink from slight fatigue.
Who is this guy? I've never seen him at the rink before...he's amazing.
I didn't know what to do. I couldn't just stop this mans masterpiece halfway through and tell him to piss of!?
Deciding to leave him, I hastily hurried back to the milkshake stall where a small que had formed.
The rest of the day was unproductive. Yet, the mysterious skater remained on the ice all day until closing time.
---
Again. He was here again. I was slightly late for work today, but when I did arrive, he was here in all his fabulousness.
Trying to focus on my work, I walked over to the milkshake stall, keeping my eyes off the rink.
A few hours passed and before I knew it, it was closing time again. Standing up from the stall, I checked the time. 9:58.
Yay. I can go home and contemplate liiifee!!
I was in the process of closing the stall when the voice of someone calling out to me caught me by surprise.
"Hellooo!!"
Not expecting the sudden tap on my back, me being the butt I am, grabbed a milkshake and out of instinct threw it at the closest thing to me.
The thick pink substance went flying before I could do anything. Shock horror took over my face as I saw what my actions had done.
"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! I'm sooo sorry! Here, let me-"
"Hmm. WOW AMAZING!!! Strawberry, right?"
Only weird chocking duck sounds came out of my mouth as I watched shocked. The man in front of me wiped up some of the milkshake on his head and quickly tasted it.
"I-I....errr...-"
"It's fine. I was about to go home anyways, plus it tastes good!!!" It was as if my mood instantly lightened at the sight of the mans smiling and laughing face.
Finally, I was able to speak recognisable words. "I'm so sorry sir."
"Victor."
Victor? That's his name? Huh.
"Y-Yuri." I sceptically took his outstretched hand and shook it.
"Well Yuri, see ya!" With a turn on his heels, he left. Leaving me confused and flustered.
---
Everyday for the remainder of the week, Victor turned up to the rink without fail. From the moment it opened, to the second it closed. And I must say, he had gained quite a following. Every time he did some jump in the air, cheers and 'whoops' would make the rink burst to life. It was as if he had brought an entirely new atmosphere with him.
It was finally Saturday, and my last shift of the week. I had to stay later as I was asked to lock up the place.
People were slowly exiting. It seemed to get quieter and quieter until only the slight sound of blades scraping on the ice remained. Curious, I quickly glanced at the supposed empty rink.
Of course. -.-"
There was Victor. He had just landed some sort of quad and was quickly making his way towards me.
"Yuri!!!"
I stopped what I was doing and made my way to the side of the rink. When Victor approached, he unexpectedly grabbed both my hands and placed them in his cold ones.
"What are yo-"
"Come skate with me."
What kind of question was that? I had only once been on skates- and that was for my 10th birthday party. Ages ago. Plus, he seemed like a professional and I didn't want to get in his way.
"I can't. I'm really bad at skating and will probably hurt myself." Lowering my head, I removed my hands from his.
I looked up to see Victor hair-flick, then give me a smile. "I'll help you."
It took me a while, but I eventually agreed, after all, me and him were the only ones there.
"O-okay."
I slowly went over to the 'hire-some-skates' stall, and grabbed a pair. Victor helped me do the laces up the carefully guided me onto the ice.
As soon as my right foot was on the ice, I froze. {NO PUN INTENDED} One foot stayed on the ground, the other slipped on the ice; causing me to almost do the splits.
"GAHHH-"
"Got you."
Relief washed over me when Victor took my hand, pulled me back up, then carefully pushed me onto the ice. At first, the safety bar around the rink seemed to be attached to me. I wouldn't move an inch from it. The most I would do, would be scooching along it.
"Come on Yuri. I got you."
With shaking legs, I let go of the bar, then flew into Victor. He steadied us then wrapped his arm round my waist.
"What are you- AAHHHH!!"
I went blank when Victor started to skate forward with me still clinging to him.
"Just move your right foot forward, push yourself, then do the same with your left. Easy. If you want to turn, lean your body slightly in the direction. I'm right behind you Yuri. It's okay." His striking blue eyes glimmered in the dimly lit light of the rink.
"Right." Nodding with determination, I pushed my right foot forward.
SUCCESS!!!!
From behind me, I heard a laugh then clapping. "Great!!!"
We were there for about two hours until finally, I could just about skate round the whole rink with no support and no falling. During that time, Victor and I both got to know each other. I found out that he is actually a professional skater and he's from Russia!!
It was relatively late when we decided to call it a night.
I sat down on a bench at the side of the rink where Victor already was, taking off his skates.
"Thank you for this Victor."
"Why're you thanking me? I was the one who asked you to do this." He laughed moving some of his hair out his face.
I stood up, expressing my gratitude. "I just really had fun. So again, thank you. One more thing though before we leave. Why do you come to this rink? I mean, it's nothing special. Someone with your talent I would have thought wouldn't be anywhere near small rinks like this."
He suddenly stood up to face me and with his smiling, flawless face.
"I came here because I was passing by. But, when I saw you, little under a week ago, I couldn't stay away. I kept coming back again, again, morning till evening, to see you; Yuri."
And that was when he flung himself at me, his warmth and amazing scent intoxicating me. Shocked at first, I was rendered speechless. Eventually though, I hugged back and relaxed. I felt different. No longer the old Yuri who sells milkshakes. I felt happier.
------------
6 months later:
"AND WITH THAT KIND IF SCORE, I'M SURE IT'S SAFE TO CALL THIS YET ANOTHER FLAWLESS VICTORY FOR VICTOR NIKIFOROV HERE. CONGRATULATIONS."
At the loud speakers announcement, the arena roared with cheers and excitement. I couldn't stop myself.
I jumped up out of my seat and sprinted down the steps to the side of the rink where I saw him. Dozens of bouquets and other things were being thrown onto the rink before me.
"VICTOR!!!" I called out. The tall, blue eyed male slowly turned around and his face instantly lit up when he saw me.
"YURI!!!"
It was as if nothing else mattered. Not the audience, other competitors, or even the fact he still had his skates on. He came skating up to me at an alarming speed.
My eyes widened when he came up to me so fast that he fell forward onto me. As we fell, all the background noise of the arena disappeared.
The warm sensation of joy bursted within us both when our lips crashed together. When we hit the floor, he embraced me. As we lay there, I quietly whispered into his ear, "Looks like the competition isn't the only thing you've won."
