CHAPTER ELEVEN
Katie's POV
Chase's face was full of pure shock. I couldn't bear to tell him myself.
He told me to calm down, I vaguely heard him say it, but I couldn't! It was like I couldn't even control myself! Millions of little black dots covered my vision, and I let darkness overcome me.
I was too weak. I couldn't fight this pain anymore.
Oliver's POV
"Skylar! That was amazing! How did you figure out how to get rid of Megahertz?"
"I didn't. I just guessed" she admitted.
"Wow, you seemed really confident."
"I have to be! When Ambrose draws the comic books, I can't look like a whimp." She explained. "I can't wait to get some sleep! I'm exhausted."
Just then, Chase came running towards us.
"Hey, Chase! What's up?" I smiled. I realized his face was covered in tears. Then, realization hit me.
"Oh, no! Katie! Is she okay?" I was hoping for good news, but by the look on Chase's face, I knew the news was otherwise.
"Flatlining" he said through shaky breaths. "Katie's flatlining" he ran back and disappeared around the corner. I chased Chase (no pun intended) and Skylar groaned before running after me. We finally reached room 203, where doctors were already gathered around her trying to revive her.
A loud constant beeping noise sent shivers down my spine. If they couldn't revive her soon, she'd be gone.
Chase's POV
"Wait a second!" Skylar shouted. "What of we can do what we did to Megahertz to Katie?" She asked.
"If we did that, we'd kill her! Just like we killed Megahertz." Oliver said.
"But if we reverse the wave of energy on the transponder, it should give Katie energy instead of suck out all the energy. Chase, can we try it? Please?" Skylar pleaded. I nodded, and she ran out of the room.
A second later, she returned with the transponder and took a deep breath.
"Chase, what of this doesn't work?" Skylar choked.
"We have to take the chance. It's the only way we can save Katie!" I replied. I wasn't sure of this at all, but we had to try something.
"Clear!" Skylar yelled as she pushed the transponder's activator button aiming at Katie's heart. It bounced off the first time, so Skylar tried again.
"Clear!"
Adam's POV
I went back to the hospital where I again sat in Bree's room for as long as Mr. Davenport allowed me.
I brought her flowers and a get well card, but Bree was still unconscious. The doctor said that he would have to do surgery on her to fix the internal bleeding, whatever that means.
I talked to Bree for an hour, and even though she didn't respond to anything I said, I felt like she was listening. I felt like she was alive and well, even though she wasn't. I just wanted to take her home and take away all this medical equipment that made my sister look so lifeless.
"Adam? Ad dam, is s at you? Where am I?" Bree was conscious!! This was amazing!
"Yeah Bree, it's me! I miss hearing your beautiful voice, you know?"
She smiled, and reached her hand out for mine. I held it gently and stroked her hair.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, hoping for a positive response.
"My stomach aches like crazy and my leg is so painful. What even happened to me? Why am I in the hospital?"
"We - We were on a mission at a burning building and you went inside to make sure everyone was out of the building. Everyone was out, but then you got caught in the building. I got you out, but we still needed to take you to the hospital."
"So how bad am I?" Bree asked.
"Not too good," I replied. "Your leg is smashed pretty bad, there's a chance that you might not-" I choked. I couldn't tell her the bad news..
"Might not what? Adam, what is it?" She asked.
"Its nothing."
"Please tell me Adam. I promise I won't freak out. Please?"
I sighed, and took a deep breath.
"Your leg was hurt so bad that there's a chance that you might not be able to walk again."
"What?"
