Chapter 9

Hope I didn't take too long with this update. I was trying to finish earlier but got sidetracked.

Silver woke up in panic, his mind racing and trying to make sense of things. He was sort of cold which meant he wasn't in the mountains anymore. It was dark and he knew he was outside because he knew what it felt like to ne outside. The smalls and sounds were always the same. Then he noticed that (y/n) was asleep right next to him providing him a small soirce of warmth. Her head was resting comfortable on his chest and she clung to his shirt with one of her hands as if he would be taken away from her.

His Totodile was also there and curled up at his other side also asleep. The grass was beneath them and nothing but trees and star littered sky greeted him as he looked up. The overall scene comforted him and he calmed down almost immediately, realizing that he was not in danger of any sort. He turned his head to the right as to not wake (y/n) or Totodile and saw that Red was asleep against a tree with his back against it and head down.

Well, it seemed he was asleep. Red lifted his head revealing tired eyes and a weary expression although he seemed to cheer up when he caught Silver's gaze. Silver saw Red's smile before he quickly looked back down to hide his expression, his cap doing well in aiding him. For whatever reason, they were not in a pokémon center and Silver knew this was not good. Something had happened while he was unconscious.

He wanted to ask (y/n) since he knew Red wouldn't say anything to him but Silver didn't want to wake (y/n) so he remained still and watched the rise and fall of his chest as she slept on him. Much to his dismay but also relief, (y/n) woke up but she hadn't yet realized that Silver was awake. She nuzzled against him and closed her eyes again before opening them once more. She was a bit startled when she noticed him awake and blushing from the affection but relief quickly clouded her eyes as she sat up of him seeming as is she was about to cry.

"Silver, you're awake! I'm so glad your okay," she said as she wiped one of her eyes. "I'm okay. No need to worry," Silver reassured as he sat up as well. Totodile remained asleep so he didn't have to worry about that. Silver didn't hesitate to pull (y/n) closer to him and hug her. She seemed like she needed one or at least wanted a hug from him.

"Are Blue and Yellow still at Mt. Moon?" he asked as he held her. He noticed that the two weren't around and last remembered them being at Mt. Moon to treat Reshiram. "As far as we know, they're still there. I hope they left already though. That nurse that called the police on us asked them to send a special team to make sure no one else was hiding in the mountains. They nearly caught us. I don't know why I didn't think we wouldn't be recognized," (y/n) said.

"So what's our next move then? We don't know where Reshiram is if they left the mountain and we can't go back anyway. We have no idea where Mewtwo went and we still can't trust anyone," Silver pointed out. He saw (y/n) pout in response as she entered a deep thought. They were now back at square one with Red instead of Blue to help them out. The thought triggered an idea that Silver hadn't even thought of.

"Why don't we just ask Red what he thinks we should do?" Silver questioned. He and (y/n) both looked over to the slightly older pokémon trainer who looked at them in surprise with those red eyes of his. He certainly heard them call his name and it was clear that he hadn't expected it. He had also heard what Silver suggested and pointed at himself with a questioning look as he slighfly tilted his head. No words were needed to convey his obvious question.

"Yes, of course! Red. Why didn't I think of you? You live in this region. Surely you'd know what it's like around here. You could lead us to where we should go," (y/n) spoke in realization. Red immediately shook his head in denial. "Why not? We don't have anyone else to rely on," Silver said with a slight frown. Red avoided his gaze with what seemed to be an "it's complicated" expression. Silver knew that look all too well. Pika suddenly intruded in the conversation and went up to (y/n) ranting something that Silver didn't understand.

The more Pika spoke, the more surprised (y/n) looked. Red still didn't say a word although he looked somewhat ashamed with being there. "That's what that nurse meant when she mention him. Red, why didn't you let us know sooner?" (y/n) said once Pika had finisbed speaking in whatever native language Pikachus spoke in. Silver was entirely lost. What nurse was (y/n) talking about and what did Pika express? (Y/n) likely noticed his confusion so she explained it to him.

"Red is also on the run from the authorities. He usually isn't even here around towns. At least that's what I think Pika was saying. He's been away from here for a long time," she said. Red nodded to confirm that what she spoke was truth. It was already troubling enough to have two people having to avoid the authorities but three was a little worrisome. That didn't bother Silver too much though. He felt that Red was a little more trustworthy knowing that he was in a similar situation as they were and likely wouldn't do anything to work against them.

"Pika also mentioned a mountain but I don't think it was the one we left," (y/n) added. Red seemed like he was about to speak but no words were spoken and he looked off to the side in disappointment of himself. Then he perked up after realizing something and pointed at Silver who didn't understand what he wanted to say. "Silver? What about him?" (y/n) inquired.

Red nodded and pointed at Silver again, sighing in fustration when neither of them understood his point. He looked around the area and his eyes landed on a stick not too far away from where he sat. He quickly grabbed it and started to draw in the dirt. Once he finished his drawing, he pointed at it and then back at Silver. It seemed like a mere triangle but given the context of the situation, Silver understood it to be the mountain that (y/n) had mentioned.

"You want us to go to that mountain?" he asked. Red nodded and did the hand gesture for him to continue guessing but that was all Silver could understand from the drawing. "The mountain will help Silver?" (y/n) guessed. Red immediately shook his head and pointed at Silver and then the mountain drawing again. The answer clicked in Silver's mind at that moment. "The name of the mountain is Mt. Silver," he and (y/n) both said at the same time.

Red nodded and gave them a full genuine smile and both of them noticed his lack of hiding it. His eyes widened in realization once he noticed Silver's and (y/n)'s stares of surprise and he quickly looked away holding his head down. A small blush of embarrassment spread across his face although his cap hid most of it. "You'll be able to lead us there right?" (y/n) said to get his mind off his embarrassment. Red gave a kurt nod.

"It would be best if we left in the morning. I don't know what happened after I went out but I'm assuming things didn't go well at rhe pokémon center," Silver said. "Yeah...you have no idea. We barely made it out of there. Those nurses sure are strong," (y/n) muttered with a yawn. "So we'll leave first thing in the morning then, Red?" Silver asked. Red met his gaze seemingly back to normal and nodded giving a thumbs up for extra confirmation. The next part of their plan had been decided and they'd have to figure things out from there.
