Chapter 8

I felt like going ahead and writing the next chapter while the idea was fresh on my mind. I'd be sad of I lost it...

(Y/n) quickly put Charizard back in Red's pokéball and rushed into the pokémon center. Red had gone ahead of her and taken to the closest facility promising without words to send Charizard back for her as soon as they got there. He'd kept his word so now (y/n) was searching for him and Silver. She spotted Red but Silver was not found in sight. "Did they already register him? Is he okay?" (y/n) asked Red as she walked to him.

He nodded and gestured for her to follow him. The nurses let them by without a problem and Red guided (y/n) right to Silver room. There were still several nurses in the room doing a variety of things to him in order to keep his condition from worsening. Silver himself lay peacefully asleep with what seemed to be a wet cloth placed across his forehead. "He shouldn't push himself like that," (y/n) muttered to herself as she was about to walk into the room but Red held his arm out in front of her and shook his head.

(Y/n) had no idea why Red had stopped her but he must have had a good reason. She realized what it was when the nurses, five in total who had otherwise been silent, suddenly started speaking. "His temperature is rising again. Bring it back down one more time and that should keep it low," one nurse ordered. She seemed to be the mist reliable out of the group.

Even though (y/n) knew that the nurses were helping Silver, it was painful to watch him being treated. (Y/n) felt somewhat responsible for his condition and didn't like seeing Silver in danger of any sort. He'd had enough troublesome times as it was based on what (y/n) knew about him. She stood there watching either way for she wouldn't leave Silver even after he'd wake up. It didn't take the nurses very long to finish what they were doing and once they were done, all of them but one left the room.

"You two can come on in now. He should befine from here on out," the last remaining nurse spoke. (Y/n) didn't hesitate to go into the room and take a place on the side of the bed standing there with worry. She spotted Silver's bag and just as she did, Totodile awakened from his pokéball looking just as worried as (y/n) felt. She picked the water type up off the ground and allowed him to sit on the edge of Silver's bed as he seemed to sleep.

Totodile didn't hesitate to crawl closer to Silver and curl up right next to his side as he nestled against Silver's side as if trying to steal away his warmth. The sight was heartwarming but (y/n)'s attention had been drawn to Red who had yet to enter the room. "Is something wrong?" (y/n) asked him as he stared at nothing in particular. She was able to pick up the hint of regret within his strong emotion of worry but said nothing of it.

Red shook he head in denial, eyes widening as he realized that he'd zoned out. He had yet to speak and (y/n) wondered why but she also found it cool that she could sense his emotions far easier than normal people. Red was quite the mysterious person. Instead of thinking about the matter any further, (y/n)'s thoughts shifted to something else. Mewtwo. That pokémon had something against Silver because of his time spent with Team Rocket.

(Y/n) knew that Silver had been involved to some extent with whatever had been going on with Mewtwo's experiments but she also knew that Silver regreted it, every second of it. He'd never told her the details but he did tell her once that he wouldn't want to face Mewtwo if he ever had to. He felt guilty for taking part in the experiments that harmed Mewtwo while he had been blinded by his father's lies. "Seems he's doing just fine," a nurse said as she walked in. She checked on Silver and placed a clod rag onto his forehead.

"He should be fine but I don't think he's be awake any time soon. Is there any family I should call? He may have to stay overnight so we can make sure he's made a full recovery," the nurse said. "Family?" (y/n) thought. The only family Silver had was Green and perhaps herself. Even if that wasn't the case, (y/n) couldn't trust very many people and Green was under Mewtwo's control.

"There's no need to call anyone. I can make arrangements to stay overnight without a problem. How about you, Red? You okay with staying?" (y/n) said. Red nodded and gave a thumbs up to which the nurse smiled. "Okay then. I just wanted to make sure the two of you were taken care of as well," the nurse spoke. She promptly left after that and Red walked into the room taking a seat in one of the two chairs available in the room. For a moment, they sat in silence as they watched over Silver who seemed to be having the most pleasant of sleeps.

It wasn't that (y/n) suddenly got bored though as she stood up to leave the room. She was merely curious and wanted to see if she could get a checkup done on Tabunne and Silver's pokémon while they were there. Perhaps it was a good thing that she left the room or else she wouldn't have been aware of what was taking place not very far from where Silver's room was located. As (y/n) walked out of the room and was about to pass an open room further down the hall, she caught part of a staff member's conversation and froze just before she could get to it.

"Yes, she said there was no need to call amyone. That boy is here too. Yes, the one that doesn't speak. I think they were all up at the mountain. The one that fits Silver's description nearly had a heat stroke. Bless their hearts. I hope they don't go back up there," a nurse's familiar voice spoke. (Y/n) was petrified and nearly panicked but all she could do was stand there and listen. No other nurses were in he halls at the moment so no one else paid her any attention as she stood there.

"Yes, they should still be here by morning. The patient likely won't wake up until later on tonight," the nurse said. She paused to listen for a response that (y/n) couldn't hear even though she tried. "So you'll be here to get them soon? Great. I just want them to return home. It isn't safe up in those mountains. I'm glad the other one came down from that snowy mountain...oh, of course. Yes, but he'll have to stay until he recovers," the nurse continued.

(Y/n) stopped listening after that. She returned to Silver's room amd met Red's gaze. He must have been good at reading into situations because he immediately noticed that something was wrong. He stopped petting Pika and inquired of the situation using his expression alone. "We need to leave, now. I don't know how much time we have but we have to go before they get here," (y/n) exolained without her voice being too loud.

Red didn't seem to get what she meant but he understood the situation and picked up Silver's Totodile. The pokémon cried out in protest not wanting to be separated from Silver but (y/n) quickly took Totodile into her care. She soothed the pokémon who didn't know what was going on so that the nurses attention was not drawn. Red closed the door to the room and almost immediately, a knock came at the door and a nurse could be heard requesting that they open the door.

Red nodded towards the door as he picked Silver up once again craddling him. (Y/n) understood his olan perfectlt without him having to say a word. They would rush out of the room and get past the burses by force. (Y/n) asked Totodile to go back in his pokéball until they got outside and thankfully, Totodile listened. With Silver's things gathered, she went to the door and got ready to open it. "Three....two...one..."
