Light snores filled the room as the sun rose from the horizon. Of course, the occupant of the room wouldn't notice that; there isn't a window in the bedroom. A certain black haired girl was at a desk, thrown over a book as she slept easily. Her yellow jacket was on the back of her chair and her backpack was open on the bed.
The room wasn't decorated just yet - but important medical supplies were all over the room. It was peaceful - especially after yesterday's incident.
But, the alarm went off.
Ember let out a groan of annoyance - moving her hand around the desk to try and find the alarm clock. When she realized that her alarm clock wasn't there, Ember raised her head and looked around.
"This isn't my room." She mumbled.
"Everybody up! Zarkon's attacking!" Allura cried through the intercoms. Those four words were enough to make Emberson panic and jump out of her chair.
Of course, the chair toppled over to the ground while Ember was still on it. She let out a huff, scrambling to get up in her fuzzy socks and grabbing her jacket at the same time.
"The Castle's about to be destroyed!" By this time, Ember had slid out of her room and into Keith. "Go, go, go! We need Voltron now!"
"Sorry!" They exclaimed at the same time, not even glancing at each other as they dashed to the control room.
"Hurry, we can't survive much longer!"
There was a slight pause before Coran's voice flooded through the speakers. "Oh, no! Allura is dead! Aw, it's horrible! Her head fell off!" By this time, Keith and Ember had made it to the control room. They exchanged confused expressions as Coran dramatically fell to the ground. "Wait! What? Her severed head is trying to speak to me! What is it, Allura's head? What are your final words?"
"Coran."
"Oh, yes, Princess, I'm listening."
"It's over."
"Oh, I know!" Coran groaned. "If only Voltron had been formed." Allura glanced over at the group of humans that stood there. Coran finally seem to notice them before he leap to his feet. "Oh! Time!"
"I guess this isn't an actual attack." Shiro decided to start. Ember relaxed, rubbing her eyes tiredly.
"And it's a good thing it wasn't because it took you. . ." She trailed. "Coran?"
"Seventy-five degrees." He said confidently, faltering when he looked at the device in his hand. "Oh, sorry. No, this is a meat thermometer."
"However long it was, it was too long." Allura wrapped up. "You must always be ready to do battle with Zarkon. Look at you! Only Shiro is in uniform. Keith, Pidge, Hunk, where are your bayards? Ember, if you want to help out you have to have your armor with you as well. And where is Lance?"
The sliding doors made a whoosh-ing noise behind them and they all turned to see who it was. Even if they already knew.
"Speak of the devil, and he shall appear." Ember sung lightly, turning to see Lance decked out in a blue robe. He even had blue lion slippers.
"Good morning, everybody. What's going on?" He yawned.
"Coran and I have been up for hours getting the Castle back in order. We had to run a test on the alarms, and we decided to test you as well." Allura glowered at them all. "Guess which one failed."
"Hey!" Hunk exclaimed with a yawn. "You got to sleep for 10,000 years, man. Monday night, I was on Earth. Now, I've flown through space, fought some evil alien named Zarkon, and eaten goo in some weird castle. That's a lot to process in, uh," He paused. "I don't know. What day is today?"
"It's the third quintant of the Spicolian movement." Coran informed them. Ember perked up, raising her hand and waving it in the air. "Yes?"
"I think I can answer this!! The Spicolian movement is like a week in our time. Quintant is a day. . .So it's Wednesday! Uh, Hump Day."
"You're right! Today is Hump Day!" Coran smiled.
"It's a lot to process." Hunk restated.
"You must understand the stakes of our mission." Allura tried to stress, bring up a keyboard. White and blue shapes that represented planets filled the room. "Over the last 10,000 years, the castle picked up distress beacons from the following locations." Slowly, the majority of the planets turned red and orange. "So, we have to assume that Zarkon has conquered almost the entire known universe."
She swiped left to move the map. "Earth is here. An attack on your planet is inevitable."
"Oh, no." Hunk mumbled.
"Exactly. Our mission is to free all those planets." She stated as the galaxy map disappeared. "Coran, Ember and I are getting the Castle ready to leave Arus. During that time, you have to learn to form Voltron, so we can begin fighting Zarkon."
"The Princess is right. Let's get to our lions and start training." Shiro conceded.
"Wait." Pidge started. "I want to talk to the prisoners we rescued from the Galra ship."
"Negative, Number Five. I have you ranked by height, okay?" Coran paused and looked over to Ember. "Sorry, but you're just going to be Hommel. Probably a good thing too, you're not that much taller than Pidge. Anyway, The prisoners need to remain in the cryo-replenishers until tomorrow."
"That's right. Now, get to your lions." Allura shooed them off. Ember put a hand on Pidge's shoulder, sending the girl a smile for comfort.
"Don't worry, if any of them wake up early, I'll go talk to them. You go be the Green Paladin, alright?"
"Thanks, Em." Pidge smiled up at Ember, squeezing her hand before running to the compartment that sent them to their lions. Ember sighed, rolling her neck and shoulders before turning to Allura and Coran.
"Alright! So, I managed to get the basics of the Alteain alphabet last night - or at least the symbols for them. I also planet some herbs and went through the medical supply I got from the Galra ship; turns out there isn't much of a difference between my medical knowledge and a Galra's! So, I should be able to help out around here."
"Ember, did you really do that all in one night?" Allura asked in surprised.
"Yup! Being an insomniac helps, sometimes." Ember grinned. "So, what can I do?"
"We need to get those herbs you have planted, so we don't have to wait for them to grow. Coran can show you a place for that. Then, if you wouldn't mind, could you help me with the defense system?"
"Of course! I'll try to get the herbs planted quickly, then come right back up here. Is that all?" Ember asked. Allura smiled at the human, shaking her head.
"No, that should be it. But I do want to let you know," Allura started, catching Ember's attention again. "You may not be an official Paladin of Voltron - having a lion and everything - but I am making it required for you to join them in training outside of forming Voltron."
"Oh!" Ember blinked. "Uh, alright. That's not a problem."
"Great!" Allura beamed, turning on her toes and going to a panel. "Coran, take her to the Arboretum. Make sure to show her everything she would need."
"On it, Princess!" Coran turned to the shorter girl. "Now, lets get a going! You're gonna love the Arboretum, Hommel!" He exclaimed, walking towards the doors.
"What's a Hommel?"
▬ ✦✧✦ ▬
"You have so much herbs!" Coran exclaimed with a smile, hands full of make-shift pots with planets.
"Most of them are herbs, but some others are just flowers I thought that were cool," Ember admitted bashfully, holding her own pile of planets while her backpack bounced on her back. "Like, there is some sunflower seeds, lily seeds, daisy seeds."
"It sounds like you love to garden." Coran assumed, making Ember grin.
"Not only do I love to garden, but most of these herbs can heal people a whole lot faster than prescription pills! On Earth, you can find them anywhere if you look in the right places."
"I would love to visit Earth one day," The two of them stopped in front of a door that looked just like any other door in the castle. "Here we are! Go on, I want to see your reaction!"
Ember stepped forwards, letting the doors slid open before walking fully in, and gasped at the room that expanded in front of her. It was at least half the size of a football field, with a small pond of water and a fountain in the middle. On the far wall stood huge window panes that went from the floor to the ceiling. The ceiling itself was like the walls, with windows in every other port.
"When we get to space, the lights will deploy and take the place of the window panes - only on the ceiling though." Coran explained as Ember took a few more steps into the room. "There is a small room to your left full of equipment that you would need and there are aquifers that water the plants themselves." The older man carefully set the plants and herbs down on the table close to the door. "Allura and I tried to get everything working in here so you can get busy."
Ember's face was widen with a smile, as she set the stuff in her arms down on the table as well, and turned to Coran. "Coran. . .This place is beautiful!" She exclaimed, jumping at Coran and wrapping him into a tight hug. "Thank you! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!"
"It's no problem!" Coran assured the girl, giving her a hug back. "Anything for a Paladin of Voltron," He teased lightly, making Ember snicker.
"If that's how I'm able to get this room for free." She jest back, pulling away from Coran. Her eyes held a bright determination as she turned around and surveyed the room. There were weeds and random sprouts everywhere she looked; and most of the plants were dead. "Before I even begin to plant stuff, I have to clear everything out. Plow out the soil. . ."
"If you need anything, Allura and I are only a short call away," Coran told Ember, who nodded absentmindedly as he left. Ember scratched at her arm in thought, think about where each plant should go and what she should plant first.
Finally, after planning everything out roughly; Ember twisted her pony-tail up into a bun and took off her yellow jacket. Her finger less gloves stayed firmly on her hands as she walked towards the first plot of land.
"Lets get this party started!"
▬ ✦✧✦ ▬
Emberson might not know exactly what type of gun was shot at what point, from which direction and time; but she did remember the sound of lasers blasting from outside. She was pretty sure she saw the Yellow Lion flying around wildly.
Regardless of what the paladins were doing, Em was getting her work done. She managed to pull out all of the weeds that infested the place and plowed the dirt around to look fresh. To make it a little bit better for the plants, she added what was labeled 'Fertilizer'. Granted, it wasn't in English or French, so it took a wide to decode the bags.
Sweat trickled down the back of Ember's neck, making her huff. As much as she loved to work on the gardens, she hated sweating. Finishing up the last plot of land that needed to be fertilized, the intercoms crackled to life.
"Ember, could you meet us in the training room? With your armor?" Allura's voice echoed through the room. Ember grunted to stand, quickly running over to the plants that she took. Each one was in it's own pot, so when she actually could plant them, it would be easier to move around.
"I'll be right there!" Ember called out, grabbing her jacket as she rushed out of the hall and towards her room. "Make sure to get me a weapon!"
The black-haired girl jogged down the hallway to where she thought her room was; and thankfully she was right. She didn't waste a moment to throw on her violet colored armor, buckling everything that needed to be, and throwing her jacket on the coat hanger. Her fingers barely hooked the edge of her helmet as she rushed out of her new room.
"Uh," Ember muttered to herself, as she ran down the hallway. "I hope this is the right way."
Fifteen minutes later - with multiple wrong turns and misdirection - Ember finally approached a door. Only reason she knew it was the right door was because of the sound of a spar going on. Ember walked through the door just in time to see Shiro skid across the floor and fall into the ground.
"Whoa, glad I missed that!" Ember commented as her teammates slowly made their way back to the ground level.
"Hommel! Just in time!" Coran cheered, making her look around in confusion. Her eyes lit up when she saw him in the control room. "Your weapon is up here with me, Allura went to fix more things in the castle. Why don't the rest of you come up here too, expect for. . .Lance."
Ember let her friends lead, seeing as they knew how to make it up into the room, and nudged Keith playfully. "I'm guessing training is going well?"
"Uh," Keith shrugged. "I guess." When Ember shook her head, he narrowed his eyes in defense. "What?"
"We need to get you caught up in the humor category." Was all Ember said as they made it into the control room. It over-looked the training room; and while they were making their way up to it, Coran had guided Lance to the center of the room. There were light blue walls around him to make a maze.
"Here you go, Hommel!" Coran smiled as he walked over to the girl. "Well, you don't really look like one with your armor on. . ."
"What's a hommel?" Pidge questioned as the rest of the team filled the room up.
Before Coran could go into a long explanation, Ember smile gently. "It's basically what we call bees. Black and yellow, like my outfit." Coran pouted, but nonetheless tapped the girl gently on her shoulder.
"So, Allura and figured you didn't really know how to fight," Coran started off.
"Only enough for me to get away," Ember agreed.
"So, we thought while you learn how to fight, you can learn how to wield this weapon." He held out a purple bayard, or what was the closest thing they could resemble to a bayard. "All I know, is that the bayard is able to separate into two and connect back to be one. Whatever the weapon truly is, is whatever your soul decides."
Ember nodded carefully and took the bayard. She held it in her hand for a second before it transformed into her weapon. A short scythe appeared in her hands, the blade the same color as her armor as well as the padding she held onto.
"A scythe?" She questioned, twirling in her hand. "With two blades?"
"Which can separate into-" Coran leaned over the girl, pressing and holding a button. It sprung apart, a chain connecting the two blades in between. "Two scythes! And a chain!"
"Cool." Ember nodded, twirling the scythe in her right hand, then left. "I definitely don't know how to use these."
"All apart of the learning process, young hommel!" Coran exclaimed as she made the scythe turn back into a bayard. The gingered-hair male walked over to a microphone in a couple strides. "Now! To form Voltron, you must trust in each other. This ancient paladin maze will teach you that trust. Your teammate can see the walls, but you cannot. So listen carefully. If you touch the walls, you'll get a slight shock."
"Wait. Who's guiding me through?" Lance asked suspiciously as he put his helmet on.
"Take two steps forwards." Keith ordered.
"Oh, no. Not Keith. Why does he get to be the man on the mic?" Lance slouched in distaste.
"Now, just sit tight. You'll get your turn." Coran chided.
"Like I said, take two steps forward, turn right, and take three steps that direction." Keith re-informed Lance.
Lance walked to the right, letting out a scream as he got shocked. "You did that on purpose!" He accused.
"You're not listening."
"You said, 'Turn right.'"
"But before that, I said, 'Take two steps forward.'"
Lance growled, mumbling a 'two steps' as he did so, before screaming again. "We're switching places right now!!"
Ember giggled, turning to Coran with a smile. "I can go down there, Coran. I did miss out on the first task anyways."
"Sounds good." Coran agreed, turning back to Lance while typing quickly. "Okay, Lance, you should be okay to come up here. Ember is gonna switch places with you."
"As long as Keith isn't guiding Bee," Lance grumbled, starting towards the control room. Ember snorted, patting Keith's shoulder before making her way down to the ground floor. When they crossed path, Lance and Ember did a quick version of their handshake.
"I guess that was a shocking surprise." Ember teased, making Lance laugh.
"Good luck out there, Bee."
"Sure thing, Tailor."
When in the middle of the room, she put her helmet and waited for Coran to chose someone to guide her. Em hummed quietly to herself, rocking on her feet while looking around the room. It was unnerving, seeing as she saw the walls in the control room but now couldn't see a thing.
"Alright, hommel, we have your guide." Coran told her.
"Lead the way!" Ember grinned, sending a thumbs up.
"Okay Em. . .Turn left, walk that way for five steps, and then go right." Pidge's voice entered her comms, making Ember laugh.
"You guys got my best friend to guide me? Wow, I see how it is." Ember shook her head, and followed that Pidge told her. When turning right, Pidge spoke up again.
"Keep walking forwards, for about. . .Ten steps. Go right after that and take an immediate left." Ember's eyebrows furrowed at the sudden noise of buzzing that filled her ear. It seem to surround her. Regardless, she copied what Pidge said perfectly. "You're almost there! All you got to do is go straight for three more steps and then turn left. Exit will be dead ahead."
"Thank you, Pidge!" Ember turn to smile at the control room once she was out of the maze.
"What, I couldn't have my best friend get shocked."
▬ ✦✧✦ ▬
An hour after taking turns going through the maze, having them fly blindly with their lions, and trying to mentally connect with each other; Shiro and Coran decided that it was time for a break. Even though Ember was only there for a few parts of training, she was grateful as Coran passed her a container of something to drink.
She slurped through the straw, watching with amusement as Shiro curiously looked at the container. Pidge was leaning against her side, making Ember turn her head.
"Don't worry, Pidge, we'll find them." Ember reassured the Green Paladin, making the other girl smile gratefully.
"Thank you."
"What, I couldn't have my best friend do this all by herself."
"You have been working hard. Maybe it's time to relax a little." Coran hummed.
"What are you doing lying around? You're supposed to be training!" Allura walked in, staring at the group of humans that sat on the ground.
"Just resting a bit. You know, you can't push too hard." Coran tried to explain.
"What do you mean, 'can't push too hard'?" Allura quoted.
"If they push too hard working physically and mentally, it can end up seriously injuring them, Allura." Ember reasoned. "I have had to treat people who pushed themselves too far. Resting is good, even if it's for a minute or two."
"Get up, you lazy lumps! It's time you faced the Gladiator!" Allura demanded, completely ignoring anything else that was said. "You too, Ember. Don't think you're getting out of this one."
Ember sighed, but nonetheless started to push herself off the ground when Pidge stopped leaning on her. The team of paladins grabbed their weapons and put their helmets on, circling up to where their backs faced each other. They were spaced out evenly; with Ember beside Hunk and Lance.
"In order to defeat the Gladiator, six paladins must fight as one." Coran's voice echoed in the room as Ember surveyed the room slowly. At the sound of a hatch opening behind her, Ember turned and watched as a tall white and gold robot flew down from the ceiling.
"Whoa!" Hunk yelped as the robot ran towards him. He started firing randomly, making Ember shriek and pull of her own shield to protect herself. The robot easily knocked Hunk to the ground and jabbed him with an electric prod.
Pidge was quick to go after it, letting out a groan as the robot blocked her attacks. She went on defense, trying to block all the swings the robot was making, before getting whacked in the face. She flew back, landing on Hunk and rolling off. Lance ran by, shooting the robot with his gun.
"What part of 'I don't know how to fight' do they not understand?!" Ember squealed, spinning the scythe in her hand and running the opposite direction as the robot started hitting Lance towards them. The robot hit the gun out of Lance's hands, hitting him in the head, before turning and swinging the pole at Keith.
The Red Paladin blocked, stumbling back in surprise as the robot turning back around to Lance. With another hit to the head, the robot hit Lance in the stomach and swung him into Keith. The two fell to the ground in a heap; leaving only Shiro and Ember.
The purple armored girl let out a shriek as the robot suddenly charged for her. "I don't even know how to do basic fighting!" She wailed, thrusting the pole in front of her face to block the robot's pole from hitting her. Ember let out a cry - mostly out of fear - as she pressed and held the button on her weapon. The one scythe suddenly split into two, and Ember slid underneath the robot as she wrapped the chains around the pole.
The robot easily got the chained scythe off of it's pole, but by them Ember was already crawling to Lance's gun.
Shiro ran pass her, arm glowing purple, as he charged the robot. Ember tried to watch, but she was messing with Lance's gun frantically. "Okay, Okay - Oh mon Dieu! Why did they have those classes when I was gone?!"
She turned back to the robot, seeing it knock Keith's sword away and hit him into Shiro, who looked pale. It's one eye gazed at her again and she squealed.
"Where's the regiment when you need it?" She cried, bring the gun up to rest in the proper space. Completely winging it, she pulled the trigger as fast as it would go, trying to hit the robot. The white figure easily dodged the shots, swinging the pole around and whacking Ember on the side of the head. The girl instantly flew, letting go of the gun and groaning as she landed.
With a thud, the robot fell over and Allura stalked towards them. "That combat simulator was set at a level fit for an Altean child!" She exclaimed. "You're not even close to working as a team, let alone ready to face Zarkon!"
"I think I died a little bit." Ember whispered to the ground, eyes closed tightly.
▬ ✦✧✦ ▬
"Ahoy, young Paladins!" Coran chirped as he walked into the dining hall, making Ember groan in pain. Her head was killing her, and they wouldn't let her go get the medicine to make it stop. Keith put a hand on her shoulder in sympathy. "I've whipped up a bit batch of focusing food. After this meal, you'll be forming Voltron six times a movement and twice on the astral conflux!"
"Smells great, Coran. Thanks." Shiro complimented the older Altean.
Ember picked up her spoon, going to scoop up some food goo when white bracelets appeared on her wrists. Her arms instantly went to the two closest bracelets that weren't her own; Keith's arm and Pidge's arm.
"Hold the phone!" Lance exclaimed.
"Coran, come on!" Ember sighed. "I just want to eat. . ."
"I saw a lot of solid individual performances today, but you're still struggling to work as a team." Coran commented. "So, welcome to the final bonding exercise of the day."
Ember tugged her right hand, watching as Pidge pulled the opposite way, but they still stuck together.
"Coran, I want you to think about what you're doing." Hunk warmed from his spot.
"This one's a classic. You get to feed each other, like a pack of yalmors!" Coran grinned, clearly proud of himself. In reply, everyone groaned.
Ember let out a sigh, using her arm that was connected to Pidge to grab a spoon and scoop some green goo up. "Here, Pidge. The sooner we do this, the sooner we'll be let go." Ember pushed the spoon closer to her friend.
"As long as this gets this done." Pidge grumbled, eating the food she was fed before grabbing her own spoon and doing the same. "Your turn."
"See! Pidge and Ember are getting it!" Coran cheered as Ember ate the goo she was fed.
Everyone else at the table seem to be having a problem. Hunk bit Lance's hand, Keith 'defiled' Lance's goo, and when Lance pulled Keith, he pulled Ember. "Whoa!" She yelped, getting pulled away from her food goo. "Guys, calm down!"
"Do Earthlings ever stop complaining?" Allura growled from her spot at the end of the table.
"Can't you just give us a break? Everyone's been working really hard today." Shiro shot back.
"Yeah! We're not some prisoners for you to toy with, like. . .like. . ." Keith stood up, stumbling over his words.
"Like a bunch of toy prisoners!" Lance pipped in.
"Yes! Thank you, Lance!"
"You do not yell at the Princess!" Coran snapped.
"Oh, the Princess of what?" Pidge remarked. "We're the only ones out here and she's no princess of ours!"
Ember let out a yelp of surprise as green goo smacked Pidge in the face - a few splatters of it hitting herself in the face. At the end of the table, Allura stood - clearly the one that threw the goo.
"G-Guys," Ember stammered out. "Lets think about thi-"
"Go loose, Pidge!" Keith shouted, grabbing his plate and throwing the food at Allura. Coran was quick to bat the goo away and retaliate. The large spoon full of goo hit the rest of the paladins. Ember blinked in surprise.
"Oh, it's on now." Hunk declared; and all hell broke loose. It was Earthling vs Alteans and it was harsh. Green food goo flew everywhere and hit everything as they had a food fight.
Ember winced as another glop of goo hit in the face. "That's it!" She shouted, grabbing her own food plate and a spoon before dishing it out towards Allura and Coran. They weren't going to get away that easy!
The food fight went on for a while, everyone getting covered in the slime before there was no food left on the plates. It was all over the floor, table, chairs, and the people that were in the room. It finally ended when Allura let out a big sigh and fell into the only standing chair on the other side. The paladins exchanged glances, Ember and Keith raising their eyebrows, before they all broke out into laughter.
"N-Nice green goo," Ember laughed, swiping some of the stuff off of Keith's head.
"It brings out the grey in your eyes," Keith laughed as well, swiping some goo off of her own head.
"Enough! Do you see what you're doing?" At Allura's sudden shouted, they all froze. What took them by surprise was Allura's huge grin. "You're finally working together as one!"
"Hey, she's right!" Keith turned to Lance.
"I actually don't hate you right now." Lance commented.
"You guys thinking what I'm thinking?" Hunk asked excitedly.
"Let's go form Voltron!" Shiro announced excitedly.
"Yeah!!"
"Actually, I was thinking dessert. But, yeah! Let's do it!" Hunk cheered. The group all went to turn, but realized too late that they were still connected by the wrists. Groaned filled the room as they all fell down to the floor - taking some chairs with them.
▬ ✦✧✦ ▬
Ember smiled widely as her and the paladins of Voltron sat on a couch. The room itself kinda reminded her of what a living room would be, or a commons. The excitement from forming Voltron was in the air, and infecting herself as well.
"Man, that was cool!!" Lance spazzed out, throwing his fists in the air. "I'm so charged up, I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight."
"Not me. When my head hits the pillow, I'm going to be lights out." Keith said.
"I'm going to have to plant the herbs and seeds before I go to bed." Ember commented, sitting to Keith's left. "We need to get some herbs and flowers growing."
"I just want you to know, that I realized when we were in Voltron," Hunk started, sliding in between Keith and Lance. "we're brothers, man." He hugged Lance and Keith, smiling widely. "You know? Like, we're totally connected. No secrets, no barriers, no nothing. Brothers all the way. I love you guys."
"What am I? Chopped liver?" Ember teased lightly, making Hunk gasp.
"No way! You're definitely apart of the team more than anyone!" Hunk pulled Ember into the group hug. "You're the sister of the group!"
"G-forces mess with your head a little bit?" Keith joked.
"Yeah, maybe a little. I don't know. It's been a tough few days."
Ember smiled at her friends, pushing herself up and walking to the door. "Alright, you guys get some good sleep."
"Whattya gonna do, Bee?" Lance asked, getting up to follow the rest of the group.
"Probably pull another all-nighter, plant some herbs and flowers." When Lance shot her a disapproving look, she smiled sheepishly. "Hey, a Medic never rests. Especially is she's the medic for Team Voltron." Her hair swung behind her as she turned, skipping to the door. "Night guys!"
"Night Bee!"
"Good night Ember."
"Don't stay up all night, try to rest."
The grey-eyed girl waved them all off as she skipped down the hall towards the Arboretum. When she was about to enter the door to her domain, someone called out her name. "H-Hey! Emberson!"
She turned, tilting her head slightly to see Keith jogging to catch up with her. "Hey, Keith," She greeted. "What are you doing following me?"
"U-Uh, sorry," Keith rubbed the back of his neck. "I, I was gonna ask if you needed any help planting or. . . stuff." He trailed.
Ember smiled, eyes shining with amusement. "Do you know the basics of gardening?"
"Uh. . . No. . ."
"That's okay, I'll just have to teach you." She turned around, walking into her room. "I could probably teach you the basics of what each plant does too; the ones that can actually help you out in the wild."
"That would help a bit."
"Then, lets go!"
▬ ✦✧✦ ▬
**Okay, so little side note. The Garrison didn't teach Ember anything about herbs, it's the future, so they taught her how to use medical supplies from there. They did teach her a couple of herbs that would help, but everything that Ember knows plant-wise is what she learned in her spare time. I just wanted to make that clear. Also, Ember is of French decent and that was the second language she learned.
