chapter 1.

it was first day of school in kq high, early in the morning.

a boy with green streak on his hair walked nervously towards a group of guys, holding a box of chocolate in his hands.

he was confident most of the time, but he was also positive in getting rejected. he just wanted it to be over.

the group of guys became closer until he finally stops at his tracks. he cleared his throat to catch their attention and it worked.

great. no turning back now. the male thought.

there were exactly four guys in the bunch. all of them were good looking, popular and hot, but one of them stood out.

"wooyoung." the boy called and handed him the box of sweets. "these are for you."

this earned a couple of teases from the others. "got yourself an admirer, woo." a certain ravenette snorted.

there were already a couple of students looking at their way, and murmuring, "is choi san really that brave?"

the purple haired rolled his eyes as he cocked an eyebrow at the boy confessing.

he stared at san with dead eyes. "haven't it ever crossed your mind that i'm not gay?"

"i know. i just-"

and before he knew it, the chocolates were already at the other side of the hallway. jung wooyoung just smacked them out of his hands.

"then, you should have kept quiet." the lilac coldly spitted out.

when everyone was feeling pity for the dimpled male, a certain girl picked up the box of desserts and made her way through the crowd.

"you've become a real asshole, you know?" she looked at wooyoung's direction. "someone's making an effort to tell you how they feel. you should appreciate them."

this earned a bunch of gasps from other students. everyone was at a state of surprise, including wooyoung.

she can't be here.

he couldn't let his guard down even as the memories resurfaced. he returned his face to a blank one. "why should i? he's the one who wasted my time."

the new girl faced the slightly embarrassed green haired. "wow, i can't believe you bothered with this dickhead. find yourself a real man."

this made san involuntarily laugh. something about her aura was just easy going.

"so you've still got that bratty attitude of yours?" wooyoung barked, quite annoyed that they had to meet again like this. or that they had to meet at all.

she turned to san again, completely ignoring the purple haired's remark. "wanna get out of here?"

"yeah." the boy gave her a faint smile which reflected on her face.

"i'm talking to you, sooyoung." the lilac's voice interrupted, making her roll her eyes.

it's been years since he said her name and hearing it now, with the situation they're in, wasn't flattering.

"newsflash, wooyoung. not everyone's obligated to answer you."

she gestured san to go first as she trailed behind him, not sparing a single glance back.

"whoa, you know that girl?" seonghwa asked, quite intrigued of their interaction.

"it's her." he simply stated, to which his friends replied with a shock face, then a sorry one.

-

san somehow ended up walking to the library, where sooyoung just followed since she didn't really know anything about the school yet.

they had an awkward silence between them until the boy spoke up. "thanks. that was the first time i went speechless." he chuckled.

sooyoung shook her head, indicating there wasn't a need for gratitude. "what did you see in him, anyway?"

san exhaled deeply. "honestly, i don't even know."

the statement made the girl laugh. she's fully aware of the lilac haired boy's charms, but seeing him today just made her question herself.

"i mean, i expected a bad reaction. just not that." the green haired continued.

"he was being a dick."

just then, they heard a ringtone which caused san to immediately reach down his pocket to answer it, apologizing to the librarian who was giving him dirty looks.

"hello?"

"san! oh, my god. are you okay? we heard what happened." a distressed high pitched voice was yelling on the other line.

the boy's face flinched at the volume. "i'm fine. someone came just in time."

he faced sooyoung who was patiently waiting for him.

"where are you? we're worried sick."

"library." san replied shortly. "i'll introduce you to someone." he hung up.

"so, i guess i'm the person you want to introduce?" the girl asked knowingly, making san smile.

"yeah. that's if you don't mind."

"of course not." the new student assured. "glad to meet friends on my first day."

"that's a relief." san exhaled. "they should be-"

"san!" a girl's voice echoed through the library, causing the librarian to hush her.

"minjee, stop being loud." warned one of the people she was with.

"no one's here, anyway." she huffed, jogging towards san. "you absolute insane bisexual-" she stopped ranting as she saw that her friend wasn't alone.

"uh, hi?" sooyoung greeted unsurely. there were three other guys behind her who looked very intimidating. they all looked at her with furrowed brows, making her glance at san for some sort of help.

"oh, my god." the girl named minjee whispered. "are you the one who saved this idiot?" she referred to the boy with green hair as she got closer.

minjee suddenly got pulled back. "would you stop making people uncomfortable?"

"that's a lot coming from you, jongho." a tall(might be the tallest in the room) guy remarks.

"guys." san finally catches their attention. "this is..." he realizes he has yet to ask for her name.

"sooyoung. i'm im sooyoung." she casually introduces herself to the group.

"oh! i'm-" just before anyone can say anything else, the bell rang.

"which class are you in, by the way?" san asked. "wouldn't want you to be lost."

"class 1-A, i think." she answered.

minjee, then, gasped. "we're in the same class! let's go together!"

"okay." sooyoung agreed, a bit surprised when the other linked their arms but still happy.

"see you guys during lunch!" minjee yelled, getting another glare from the librarian, as she went further away from her friends.

"i didn't catch your name." sooyoung says, not wanting to be rude in the future.

"oh, right! i'm chae minjee." the shorter girl gave a toothed grin. "also, thank you for standing up for san. if only i hadn't overslept." she pouted.

sooyoung chuckled heartily. "well, i can't stand assholes, so-"

"ah, that reminds me. that jerk who rejected san is our classmate." minjee rolled her eyes. "there's also another bunch of really mean guys but we'll talk about them at lunch. good luck! don't be nervous! fighting!"

minjee gave her a side hug and raised both of her thumbs, before she skidaddled in the classroom.

a clicking of heels were heard as what sooyoung assumes, their homeroom teacher. "ah, you must be the new student. let's go in, shall we?"

the transferee nodded, taking a deep breath as she followed the teacher. she heard the noises quiet down, only to be replaced with murmurs by the students. she felt a glare directed specifically at her, and of course, she glared right back at him before snobbing at each other.

"listen up, everyone. a new school year is a new chapter of your life. with that, we may meet new people to help us write fresh pages!" sooyoung heard a few students groan at the cheesiness. she was trying hard not to cringe as well. "as you can tell, we have a new student here with us. go ahead and introduce yourself."

at the signal, sooyoung raised her chin and gave a slight smile. "good morning, everyone. my name is im sooyoung and i hope we can get along this school year." soft and not so enthusiastic claps were given by her classmates.

the teacher ushered her to take a seat, luckily beside minjee, who just so happened to be behind him. great.

just walk to the chair, sooyoung. just-

before she could reach the seat, she found herself stumbling over a foot. the owner of the leg glanced at her, muttering sarcastically, "oops. my foot slipped."

sooyoung took a deep breath, looking over her shoulder to see if the homeroom teacher saw that, but it seemed as though she was busy writing something on the board. which means-

"ow!" the lilac haired exclaimed quite loudly after the transferee just hit his head with the back of her hand, really hard.

"if you want to share something to the class, mr. jung, you can do so in front."

"oops, my hand slipped." sooyoung whispered, moving forward to her seat.

minjee stared at her with wide eyes. "that was kind of bad ass, but-" she inhaled deeply. "you just kina pissed off jung wooyoung."

"what? like it's special?" sooyoung snickered, outting down her backpack.

"i wouldn't say special. more of, uh, um," the short girl did exaggerating hand movements, not knowing how to explain it to her.

"alright! now, here are the rules." the teacher clapped her hands.

"let's talk about it during lunch, yeah?" the transferee said, making minjee nod in agreement.
