Arriving at the robot with boxes in hand, the girls waited for the elevator to stop. Once it reached uptop, they hopped out, with Casey closing the door. Alyssa was chewing on a few french fries as Mack did the same with the onion rings. Spotting the food, Spyder smiled and rose from his seat.
"Aww you're sweet, you got me some-"
"Beat it greedy," Veracity instantly shut him down, causing a few of the others to chuckle, "you ate, we didn't. And in case you're wondering, Mark ratted you out."
The sixteen year old smiled playfully when seeing Spyder's reaction, in which his mouth was opened wide in shock. He was disappointed as he returned to his spot.
"Alright, let's go, I'm dying for some action." Casey said, excited.
"We still have to wait." Mark replied.
"Why?" Spyder inquired, impatiently whining.
"Yeah why?" Casey backed him up, "we've got a clone to catch. There's no time to just keep waiting. Besides it's hard to fight bad guys and look hot at the same time."
"You still manage." Veracity complimented her.
"I know." Casey remarked confidently as she flipped her hair with a smile.
Alyssa rolled her eyes before saying, "Ryan's not here yet."
"Yet? He's been here the whole time right? We all slept in the lounge last night." Spyder told her.
"He said he was getting something to eat, but that was a while ago." Harris informed the gang.
"Well where is he? Is he okay?" Kenzie asked.
"I'll call him." Mark decided, taking out his phone.
His cousin nodded as she walked to the center of the room, standing by the harness just in case. The times arrogant jock rang his brother, and it took a while before he got an answer. The young pilot was preoccupied in a heated battle with himself, fighting off oncoming attacks and blows to the head. He was managing well, however he could not of predicted getting into a scuffle like this if you had asked him at a previous time.
"Cheap!" His double shouted, making Ryan aim for the stomach. He kneed him in the gut and watched as his duplicate held it for a moment. He growled, "still cheap."
Ryan smirked a little. The sudden vibration coming from his phone caught his attention. He quickly looked back at his opponent, whose expression turned mischievous. Ryan then dodged his oncoming punch and picked up the call using his powers, "hello?"
"Hey where are you?" Mark asked.
The clone kicked his chest, sending Ryan to the floor. How his phone was still in tact was unanswerable at the time. It remained in his pocket, secure.
"Uh...busy?" Ryan replied, though is sounded more like a question.
"Doing what?" Mark inquired.
"Stuff..." He had to think fast as he saw his alternate approaching him. Ryan rolled on the floor to escape him and continued the conversation, "now's not really the best time to be calling me dude."
"Well we have to go, that dimension clone thingy is out there and we have to stop him. Did you forget that we could literally die if he's not caught?" Mark reminded him, annoyed how everyone was there but his brother.
He blocked an oncoming hit. "...yep, I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen," he answered back as he saw his clone getting ready to strike, "hold on," Mark rolled his eyes, unbeknownst to him that blasts were coming left and right. They nearly blew up the his little brother's body. Ryan's eyes widen, seeing the burnt holes through the floor, knowing that could have been him. Momentarily distracted, his 'twin' tackled him. Ryan tussled with him on the floor for a bit before kicking him off using his feet. The alternate landed on his back, hard, and it pleased Ryan. He returned to his conversation, "okay, you were saying?"
"Do you even care?" Mark finally spit out the real question he wanted to ask.
"Of course I care," Ryan responded, offended his sibling would dare to question it, "why wouldn't I?"
"If you did, you'd be here." Mark said.
Alternate Ryan kicked the actual technopath on the side, knocking him down. He groaned from the tough contact he made with the floor as he got back up. Quickly looking at his hands, he took a chance at utilizing his powers. His brown eyes turned blue, electrifying his body. Ryan stepped up and shot hia double with his own blast. It was dodged, but Ryan was elated to know he had this ability.
"I've been waiting for you to do that." His alternate spoke with a smile.
Seeing his hands glow, Ryan ran, with his clone coming after him. He used his mental abilities to explode the building Ryan was nearby. He had to duck as pieces flew to the ground. Letting out a, "woah!", the pilot continued to run, trying to figure out what to do. The loud explosion caught Mark's attention, his mood going from slow anger to concerned.
"Are you okay?" He queried, which made the others look up frok where they were standing.
The dimensional clone shot another spherical blast at Ryan, who's shirt and stomach was burned in the process. It left a huge, red mark, along with a hole in the back. The pain was far from wonderful, causing Ryan to yell, "ah!"
"Ryan?!" Mark called.
"Ryan?!" The alternate mocked, to which Mark heard and became confused, "man I got tired of him yelling that."
"What?" Mark queried in confusion.
"Nothing!" Ryan shouted, sending a piercing glare at his opponent. He slowly rose to his feet and breathed heavily. The clone smirked at him, though a slight wave of fear washed over him at the look he was receiving. Ryan held his side, "you're not going through with this!"
"You're only doing it to yourself! This push and pull act is getting old." The alternate hollered.
"Ryan, what's going on?" Mark demanded, anxiety rising.
"Put him on speaker." Alyssa instructed quietly, which Mark complied to as he climbed down the stairs and tossed her his device.
The gang, excluding Spyder and Harris who remained in their seats, gathered around from the bottom of the X deck to hear what was happening.
"I'll go to jail, never have a life, lose everything! I don't want that!" Ryan screamed to the double, who rolled his eyes.
"God you're so frustrating! You can never make up your mind!" The alternate shouted back, losing patience.
"Grey deserves to be dead, so does Morris, Harper, our enemies! I want them all killed and burning in hell!" Ryan vented loudly.
"You sure about that, or are you gonna give them mercy because you feel bad?!" Alternate Ryan hollered, mocking him.
"Shut up!" Ryan quarrled with himself, becoming ashamed how he thought of this in the first place, "just shut up and end this!"
"Why, because I'm right and you're a little pussy who can't play in the big leagues?!" The alternate asked.
The guardians glanced at one another, realisation showering over them in a heartbeat. Casey hung up the call.
"Why'd you do that?" Spyder quizzed, curious yet concerned for his best friend.
"He's the doppelganger." Alyssa informed the crew.
"Well why is he with Ryan?" Harris inquired.
"That I don't know." Alyssa replied.
Casey, in guilt, raised her hand up slowly and revealed, "I do."
Everybody turned their attention towards her, with Alyssa asking in shock and an edge to her voice, "what?"
Casey sighed, "Kenzie remembered when I said I knew who the clone was?"
"Yeah." Mackenzie retorted.
"Welp, that's Ryan's clone and it's a good chance that Ryan might be part of his plan." Casey spoke, causing Alyssa to fume.
"Why would you keep that a secret?! Do you know what could've been happening this entire time and we didn't know because you kept your mouth shut?!" She shouted, her voice booming through the robot and scaring everybody.
"I've been trying to track him daily, had I told you everyone would be on high alert and that would've solved what? Us preparing for a plan that we don't know about? How the hell is that going to do anything?" Casey defended herself.
"You should've said something!" Alyssa shouted angrily, with Casey looking back at her in rage, "now we could all be in danger! I knew I should've came to help Kenzie instead of you!"
"We don't even know what he wants! Geez, you act like all of this is my fault, like I went into that specific dimension to let him out and raise hell! I was doing something about it, I don't care that you're my sister, don't come down on me like this! You don't know everything!" Casey argued.
"Well clearly I do compared to you!" Alyssa yelled as she moved closer to her, "you can't keep doing what you want Casey! It puts others on the back burner! Why can't you realize that?!"
"Will you stop always looking at it that way?! You do that to me all the time, not Mackenzie, not Nigel, me! Cut the bullcrap like I'm four years old again and actually understand what I'm saying!" Casey screamed in her face.
"Stop!" Mackenzie loudly projected her voice, stepping in between her two friends silencing to prevent a physical altercation. The girls looked at her amd allowed her to continue, "fighting is only going to make this worse. We need to find Ryan and make sure whatever his alternate is planning doesn't happen."
Alyssa sighed and nodded to herself, knowing Mack was correct. She glared at Casey, who shoved her way passed the blonde, pissing her off even more. She refrained from grabbing her and crossed her arms. Casey climbed up the ladder to reach the X deck and asked, "well, where are they now?"
"Uh duh," Spyder responded, as if the answer was obvious, "we can just use the Mech links."
"I called Ry on the phone because nerdo was upgrading our Mech links." Mark told him.
"Which I will happily return seeing as this is the right time to use them." Harris said quickly after, rising from his seat and instantly heading for the workshop.
"Okay, well let's see what you've picked up Casey and go from there." Mackenzie spoke, feeling calm about the situtation.
Before anyone could take action, the elevator rose up to the control center. The Mech X crew turned around, preparing to strike any unwanted guests. Mark protective stood in front of the team, along with Casey and Alyssa. The doors slowly opened, revealing a face that was not welcomed by any means.
"Hey guys," The man greeted in a friendly way, making one of the team members growl, "sounds like you could use a hand."
