Not really sure what to do with herself, the young blonde sat in the med bay alone. Her friends were up until about one am, which is why they were passed out right now. It was currently two o three am. The guardian didn't know what to think. The man who she was raised by her entire life was not her dad. It was something she couldn't be pissed about for the reasons you may think. Yes, the lying was uncool and not necessary. However, she found it hard to be upset with Liam. I mean, he's an amazing dad. How could you be mad at him?
Trying to process it, the young blonde stood up and left the room. Upon walking through the halls, she heard snoring in the lounge. Her guess was that it was Mark and Spyder. Harris does not snore and Ryan either snores really lightly or takes deep breaths. Going passed the living room area, the female technopath heard a noise that was non-snore related. In fact, it was shaky breaths. Deciding to check it out, the bubbly teen peered her head into the nearby room. Nothing. Traveling down a bit further, she found a door slightly ajar. She walked over and opened it up a little more.
There, she found a young lady sitting on the floor. Her knees formed a hill, with her hands on the floor. It was dark, so her face was hidden for the most part. Entering anyways, Kenzie closed the door behind her and sat beside her best friend. She instantly wrapped an arm around her shoulders as her head laid on one of them in comfort and concern. The dirty blonde haired girl didn't have to look to tell who it was. The co-pilot used her abilities to activate a few of the lights. Silence lingered a little longer before Mack could strike up a conversation.
"Your mom sounded like a good person," she began. Veracity stayed quiet, "I wish I got to meet her." Swallowing a little, the female brains of the team nodded, "but hey, least you know the truth and now we can make sure Seth goes to prison."
Veracity turned her head towards her and looked down for a bit before her eyes locked with her friend's, "I only had my mom til I was eight and I still can't ever forget what she looked like," Sympathy covered Mackenzie's heart, "how she always seemed impressed with what I did. How in the third grade, the school wanted me in fifth. She didn't though because she wanted me to make friends and not speed through life. Or how, she was shocked with any word that come out of my mouth because when I said anything it was like I was already eighteen."
Both her and Kenzie giggled a bit before she continued, "I wish I knew where she worked so I could've protected her-"
"Even if you knew, you were eight. There was no way you could take on Seth alone," Kenzie stopped her as she lifted her head up from Veracity's shoulder. She kept her arm around her and smiled slightly, but it didn't stay long once Veracity broke her gaze on her, "besides it's not like your mother would've allowed that."
"I know...I know I just...wish I had a way to bring her back," Veracity vented, which was something she hardly ever did, "you know to, see her again and say hi and how life would be like with her here again. My dads love me but, it's hard not having that mother figure in your life."
Mackenzie nodded as she replied with, "I get it, my mother is halfway around the country trying to save the world from destroying itself. Meanwhile, I found out I have a birth mom so that's double the loss of a mother. It's really stressful."
"Oh Kenz-"
"It's okay," Mack reassured her quickly. She sighed, "yours is much worse."
That is when a full smile appeared on her face.
"But whatever happens, my mothers will be just as much as yours as they are mine," Mackenzie told her best friend. She saw her start to smile a little in return, "and, I might've came back to Bay City to find my cousin, but you are a huge reason why I wanna stay here. You're the sister I've always needed and I'll always be yours."
Not knowing what to say and since the boys weren't up to watch, Veracity embraced the guardian almost immediately. As Mackenzie held her, her eyes were closed and she squeezed her tight. Nodding to herself, she promised that she would do anything to protect, help, assist, provide, and back up her friends at any cost. Veracity however had other ideas in mind. While she wasn't in tears, she was choked up. Her thoughts were clouded with anger and hatred. She knew that no one else should experience what she just heard about. It was time. Time for this to end once and for all.
