Chapter Two: Rescue Mission
"Alright, it's your funeral." Tragear remarked.
The young technopath made the first move. He swung at the oozed man. He missed. Tragear attempted a kick, but it was dodged. Using his powers, he shot a blast at the fifteen year old. All he did was stand there. As the blast came towards him, he held his hand out. The energy that came from Tragear was stopped. Some kind of electric ball surrounded it. Ryan used his hands to disintegrate the whole thing.
"How did you do that?" Grey inquired astonished.
"That'll be the last time you ever try something." Tragear sneered.
The first punch he threw at the pilot was a miss. The next one was a fail too. The adopted child kneed him in the gut. Tragear felt the pain, but it wasn't for long. He managed to kick the technopath back. He hit the ground and didn't have a chance to breathe. The monster man was on top of him. He held down the kid's wrists down.
"Get it through your dumb head! You are not stronger than I am! You will never defeat ME!" Tragear yelled.
Rage clouded the young man's mind. He refused. He refused to let ANYONE hurt his world. He lost his family. He was not going to let any other person go through the same thing. With a sudden feeling of strength coming in, the pilot shoved the enemy off of him. Tragear's back hit the ground. That's when Grey stepped in. She did a spin kick that got her nowhere. The fifteen year old caught her foot and flipped her down. How fast it happened shocked her. She returned to her feet quickly. Her eyes went on him. She saw it. She was not fighting the same kid a month ago.
He wasn't in the right state of mind. The way he was handling this. The way his eyes were illuminating with energy and irritability. How he wasted no time in finding them first. This was more than a battle. This was personal. Tragear stood up and pushed Grey back.
"Stand aside." He told her.
"I'm not watching you do something that's mine." Grey argued.
"You wouldn't be here if I hadn't stepped in." Tragear counteracted.
"And you wouldn't be here if I didn't create you." Grey shot back.
Tragear faced her.
"Stop saying that! Now is not the time for your petty feelings to get in the way of this!" He barked.
The protagonist turned his attention to the machine. He used his abilities to cause it to malfunction. It wasn't enough though. The crystal was still deep underneath. It didn't seem possible, but it was worth a try. The young man pushed his powers to deactivate the energy inside the crystal. Both of the antagonists saw the machine blow up, ruining the plan.
"Stop him now!" Tragear roared.
Grey ran to try and ambush the hero. He sensed her coming however. The pilot turned and literally threw the former principal to the side. Tragear was a different story. He grabbed the kid by the back and slammed him in the snow. Thankfully, his powers were still in check. He grunted, infuriated with his enemies.
"You've got nothing left. Even if you win, you have no family to go back to. Face it, you lose either way!" Tragear told him.
That only initiated more fury into the fifteen year old's body. It was getting to the point where he wasn't going to hold anything back. If he was going to die, if this was the end, if this was the last moment of his life being used up...he was going to go down fighting. He stood up, ice and snow clinging to his pants. Allowing his abilities to take over, his hands began to glow.
"Is that supposed to intimidate me?" Tragear asked uninterested.
His words were soon forgotten. Ryan went insane. His powers gave him access to shoot at his foes. He blasted the two instantly. They were flown back into the snow. The sound of them making contact with the ground was loud.
"Oh you little!" Tragear shouted.
He got up and ran towards him. Ryan blasted him once again. Tragear managed to stay up this time. He kicked, making the technopath stumble back a bit. He ran, jumped, and brought the oozed man down to the floor. He grabbed his neck and choked him.
"Y-y-y-you...a-a-a-are...g-g-going...t-t-to...l-lose." Tragear spit out.
His opponent shook his head and chuckled.
"I promise you...I'll make sure you suffer. I'LL MAKE SURE TO NEVER LET YOU HARM ANYONE IN SIGHT. I'LL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER BREATHE AGAIN. AND I'LL MAKE SURE YOU DIE KNOWING MY NAME!!" Ryan hollered.
It was so loud that polar bears would wake up and wonder who said that. Grey had never seen this side to the freshman before. Hatred dripped from his words. Darkness seemed to be taking over his mind. It began to scare and excite the former principal. Tragear's smirk only grew as he blasted the pilot. He was thrown off of the man. His back was on the ground as he groaned.
"Your the one who will remember my name. Your victories were short lived. You lost!" Tragear shouted.
His smirk was outmatched by the one on the fifteen year old's face. He wasn't paying any attention to him. His sudden spark of happiness angered Tragear. He turned to see what he was so eager about. The machine was fully busted. And unfortunately, so was the crystal. The aftermath of it all was the ooze bubbling rapidly.
"What's going on?" Grey reacted worriedly.
"The ooze can't take that much power. If deactivated while processing it-"
And that was the sound the Mech X crew heard. The ooze pocket exploded. Since the machine was damaged, the two villains couldn't fix it. Did I say exploded? That was a bit of an understatement. It erupted. As if it was like a volcano. The substance was high into the sky. Everyone around it had to run. Another explosion took place from the machine.
"We have to go!" Grey alerted the two.
"Our plan has failed. I blame you." Tragear finished.
He used his abilities to fly away. The other two made their exit. They didn't know where they were going, but they knew they had to leave. NOW. The pocket increased in size. Both humans were running as if they were being chased. As they were trying to find somewhere to hide, a vehicle was beginning to show up. The technopath stared a bit closer. He could see five people inside. One of the faces he could see made him smile.
"Hey!" Ryan shouted.
The sound of his voice caught the sixteen year old's attention immediately. He perked up as he leaned forward.
"Ryan?" Mark wondered.
The vehicle traveled closer, revealing who was in front of them.
"Ryan! Leo stop!" Mark urged.
The older scientist did as he was told. He stopped the mobile and had a huge grin on his face.
"Ryan!" Everyone yelled with joy.
The pilot ran to the front seat and opened the door.
"We have to go! The ooze is unstable!" He told them.
His butt parked right on the seat. He buckled up.
"Wait! What about me?!" Grey asked.
The others glanced at one another in uncertainty.
"Nobody dies." Ryan reminded them.
Harris rolled his eyes as he opened his door. The former principal hopped in. Leo hit the gas peddle and zoomed away. The ooze geyser was still happening as the team escaped. It took a while, but they were soon far enough away from it. Everybody, save the adopted child, sighed in relief. The technopath was too busy reminiscing what just took place. He had just told everyone that nobody dies. And yet, he was so close to ending someone's life himself. It was just like with Seth in the woods. He couldn't control what he was doing. Every bone in his body was stiff and his powers had gone haywire. He didn't fully understand it. It was new and dangerous. It almost felt...evil. That brought a fatal question to his mind: What bad lurks within him?
