Ch. 6
"Is it ready?" Grey inquired.
Seth and Morris turned to her. All three of them were in a lab. The place was off limits since this was where the Red Bloom was created. Didn't matter to them. It's not like they enforce that rule enough.
"Yup," Seth answered, "we're sending one out today and I hate the both of you."
"Get used to it," Morris shut him up, "or we can always kill your son."
Harper crossed his arms as Grey looked at their plans.
"Nice," she complimented, "we won't be brainwashing people, but we will be taking this city down."
"Okay I just hated humanity for destroying themselves and the Earth," Seth brought up, "you just want to kill everything and everyone."
"Bingo," Morris confirmed, "man, you catch on quick."
He walked away, with Grey following behind him. Sighing, the billionaire wished he had never been the one to start the trend.
***************
"So we can have all of this stuff...but Mark doesn't get a chair?" The sixteen year old ranted as he sat in Spyder's seat, "Oh sure. Everybody chills in their chair. You get a chair, you get a chair, everybody gets a chair but me! Oh Mark Walker doesn't need a chair. We'll just let him fall to the ground every five minutes when the robot moves. Is that a gash on his head? Oh that's not a big deal. Oh did he die? RlP, least you'll get a chair in heaven!"
The defensive operator listened to him ramble on the subject. He found it comical.
"Oh you know what? We couldn't fit it into the budget. The studio could only afford three chairs." Mark continued, "He'll just use the floor and if he falls like he did in space. We'll just pray that he lands on his feet again. He'll be fine. He doesn't need a chair. Mark Walker can break all of his bones at once and be better by tomorrow. He can fall millions of times and maybe use his back to break his fall. The floor is the perfect cushion."
"Mark we'll get you a chair okay?" Harris reassured him as he couldn't help but laugh.
"No it's okay." Mark refused as he went on to speak dramatically, "I'll finally get my chair when I'm dead. That's a nice distance from the deck to the floor. I can't wait to fall. Make sure to get a picture. I'd love to be burried knowing I was trending on Instagram."
Harris shook his head as he continued to chuckle. The others came back to rejoin the other two.
"Hey, what'd you guys find?" Harris asked.
"Everything's back!" Ryan told him, "It's like we never lost it."
"And the lounge is sweet." Spyder added, "I missed that couch."
The Mech X pilot walked out in front to the circle pad on the floor. He watched as it lit up again. It brought him back to the first time he and the guys discovered there was a robot. Using his powers, the young man was able to connect to the machine. That's when another part of the process occured.
"Hi there!"
Everyone jumped back. The head of the football team fell out of the seat. There was no face on the screen. Only words had appeared. The similarity between now and the beginning was who was talking.
"So you like it?" The voice asked. The gang shared a glance with one another, "I think it's cool. It's a lot bigger than it was before and the upgrades are cool."
The male technopath began to smile bigger as his brother got up from off the floor.
"Leo?" Ryan questioned.
"Hi guys." The creator responded.
"Hey!" Harris shouted, "How did you-"
"Made this puppy a while back," Leo explained, "I had a feeling the robot would be destoryed soon so I had a back up made."
"Why if everything's okay?" Veracity inquired to him.
"It's because everything is not okay." Leo told the team, "I made a back up for times like these. I tracked a monster on the way."
"What? But we defeated-"
"Tregear I know." Leo finished for Mark, "I managed to not get bloomed so I could have time to give the robot some extra tools."
"Well where's the monster?" Spyder asked.
Harris ran over to his station and looked at the monitor. At first it appeared to be clear. Since he never disabled the app, the team could get alerts about any attack coming their way. And that's what exactly took place. Looking down at their devices, the crew saw the monster alert go off.
"Heading for the school." Harris informed.
"Looks like we're back in action." Ryan said.
"What about your powers?" Mark mentioned.
Ryan smirked.
"I'll explain later." He replied.
Raising an eyebrow, the sixteen year old headed back up the ladder. A grin reaching his face, the younger Walker brother's eyes glowed. His body recieved the a warm, electrifying sensation. Slowly but surely, he was reconnected to the robot. The others followed suit in taking their positions.
"Let's do this!" Ryan shouted.
*************
The city was anything but calm. With a gigantic monster moving around, it wasn't safe to be out. People shut their doors while others ran into random buildings for shelter. So far, the creature was not attacking anyone. However, that didn't mean its goal was to leave everything alone.
"Alright." Morris said, "I'm aiming for the town hall. Those people have a lot of power and they're really mean."
Grey gave him an irritated look.
"They're mean? That's why we're attacking them?" She asked.
"Of course not." Morris corrected her, "...I wanna steal some money from them so they can't have power anymore. Drive a nice Mercedes and maybe head for Florida."
Grey rolled her eyes.
"You've got to be kidding me." She muttered.
"And you wonder why he worked for me." Seth commented.
"Hey I can hear both of you." Morris mentioned.
"We know." Both adults spoke simultaneously.
Watching from the monitor, all three of the saw that the monster was scaring the living daylights out of people.
"Ah, feels good doing what you know." Morris praised.
"Unless you're working with idiots." Grey spoke to herself.
A noise made them all turn their heads. The landing caused the beast to see what it was. All mouths dropped. That didn't include the monster. It has a mouth, but no emotions or brain or any human DNA what so ever. The rich man grew happy. It was back. He silently thanked his best friend for coming through.
"Holy crap." Grey reacted.
***********
"Plasma axe!" Ryan called.
"Gotcha!" Spyder retorted.
Activating the weapon, the pilot swiftly threw the tool at the target. It sliced one of the arms clean off, aggravating the beast and its creators. Using its available apendage, the monster ran and hit the robot. The controller stumbled back a bit, but didn't go down. Thanks to the enhancements on his abilities, it helped him stay balanced.
"Arm cannon!" Ryan ordered.
"Yup!" Spyder replied.
The creature took the various bullets its opponent was dishing out. It wasn't too long before the enemy struck back. And it struck back pretty hard. The robot remained on its feet, but it's boss winced in pain. He gripped the side of his stomach.
"Ryan!" Mark called in concern.
His littler brother looked down at his finger tips. They were doused in blood.
"Ugh! You son of a-"
"Language!" Harris stopped the male technopath.
"I was gonna say monkey." Ry responded.
"Mhm." V remarked in disbelief.
Rolling his eyes, the young man chose to ignore his injury.
"Plasma bombs!" He shouted.
Responding to his orders, the weapons specialist pulled out one the most powerful toold they had. The monster began to charge. Not letting it cause any further damage, the adopted child blasted the beast. It was pushed far back. Ooze began to drip to the ground.
"Hey guys," Harris informed them, "we should try one of the new weapons."
Spyder looked over at his screen. Various icons popped up on there.
"What does plasma fire do?" He asked.
"Why does Leo use plasma so much?" V brought up a good point.
"It's more effective." Mark told her.
"Let's try it," Ry sided with Harris, "Spyder, hook me up!"
Scrolling through the options, one of them caught his eyes. Smirking, the daredevil went for it.
"Alright," he retorted, "plasma fire!"
The creature roared loudly. It only had two feet, one arm, and barely a body to work with. Doing its best to move, it aimed for the machine. The kid refused to let that happen. Taking advantage of the new upgrade, he heroically fired the weapon at his target. In one blast, the beast finally went down and dissolved. Turning to ooze, Harper smiled with glee as his comrades groaned in annoyance. The teens celebrated, along with the city full of people.
"Heck yeah baby!" Mark cheered.
"Feels so good when monsters go down." Veracity chimed in.
Unhooking his harness, the male technopath grinned. The victory sure was sweet. Biting his lip, he saw that his injury was still bloody. He grabbed it and rubbed it a little. Sopping wet. Holy shiz. What made it worse was when his head began to spin. His friend noticed and took immediate action.
"Ryan, lemme look at that." Harris called out to him, "Spyder help me out."
The jokester of the bunch hopped out of his seat and tried to help his friend to the med bay.
"No." Ryan objected, "I'm fine. It's just blood."
"Ryan arguing isn't gonna help." Harris reasoned with him, "Let us look."
The others came down from the X deck and followed the trio of friends out of the control center.
