Ch. 1

(About four weeks later)

"Okay, everybody ready?!"

Ms. Dalton, the newly hired principal after the Grey debacle, was the one who exclaimed this question. She was standing in front of the rebuilt school building. The kids were all standing outside, patiently waiting. After all of the chaos that had ensued, the most exciting thing that was happening now was the grand re-opening of Bay City High.

"I now declare that this school is open!" The principal yelled.

Not wasting any more time, the entire student body rushed inside. They, excluding one, were quick to check out the building. He let out a sigh of joy.

Ryan Walker 's POV:

So we kicked Tregear's butt, saved the world a second time, and get our school back? That is pretty cool. Mark's probably having the time of his life. Ms. Dalton told us that anyone who was on the varsity team before Seth tried to kill us all and Tregear trying to take over the world was reinstated. That meant that the original football, baseball, basketball, and...well you get it, had its guys back. Which meant the return of the legendary Mark Walker. Oh god, that's the first time I ever said that and kind of liked it. Don't tell Mark or his head is going to grow twice as big.
I wondered how life was going to be after Tregear and Grey were gone. I didn't know that Seth was going to be our friend, well frenemy for me, or that things would be so peaceful. At least I guess it is. To be honest, I miss Mech X4. I really do. It felt like a safe place I could go to if I just wanted to be alone or think. A big part of our lives were spent there and now...now it's gone. I don't love the idea of monsters coming back or some creep trying to brainwash the planet again. It's just, life was so boring without it and Veracity had a point back in space. I was invisible here and Bay City East and I'm going right back to that. Lucky for me though, I still have my friends.
Who knows how long that's going to last though? Freshman year has been a crazy one. It still surprises me how time feels so slow. It's March. I know right? You'd think we would be sophmores by now. I don't care anyway, I just want to get highschool out of the way and make people jealous when I'm caught dancing with Camila Cabello at the VMA's and becoming her husband. It's a dream I'll have to wait for, but it'll be worth it in the long run.
Hey, remember when I used the last of my power to take out Tregear? Well, truth is...I lied to the team. My power actually kicked up. I made it seem that way to feel more heroic and just in case any other freak is watching, they'll think we're powerless. Smart and dumb, but it's what I do. I don't know exactly what I can do yet besides the obvious. All I know is that my veins have been a lot bluer than before.
I won't talk about that too much. Don't need to let my friends hear it. We won and I don't want them to worry about me. That's why only one person knows about it so far. I'm not looking back after what went down. I'm ready for anything coming my way no matter the risk. Not that I'm on my kness begging for someone to try and cause trouble...for...me...

NO POV:

A girl walked alone, her hair flowing down. She was wearing a dark blue shirt with black booty shorts and hightops. The pilot began to smile as he tried not to look like an idiot. She must have noticed because she ended up joining him in the middle of the hallway, a smile plastered on her face at the sight of him.

Ryan Walker:

Sorry about that. Look if there's going to be any trouble, it's because of this girl right here.

"Hey Ry." Yasmin greeted me.

"Hey," I replied. God, you have no idea how happy I was to see her. You will see why at some point, "so, mind controlled zombies wanting to attack Mech X4, pretty cool right?"

"Yeah, I totally loved having no control over my mind or body whatsoever." Yasmin sarcastically sided with me.

I was hoping she would catch on that this was a joke.

"You know in the mist of all that and beforehand, we never got a real chance to hang out." I mentioned.

"I know, we've both been so busy lately. But hey, who says we can't fix that right?" Yasmin focused on the optimistic side of things.

I totally agree.

"Well, if you're not busy tonight," I began to offer, "we could head to Tony's, best food around the city. Plus with the world being saved again, I think we might catch that half off deal."

I watched her smile grow bigger and maybe it is just me but, it is honestly adorable.

"I love things half off, they don't come around very often," Yasmin responded before adding, "but, it's not worth enjoying it if you're not doing it with me."

I had to bite back a grin on that. I knew that she was flirting with me.

"Same here," I agreed before asking, "what time?"

"Seven thirty works for me, but I wanna get some skate time in. We can meet at five and work up an appetite." She decided on.

I nodded since that did sound like fun.

"Yeah I'd like that, and trust me, I won't wipe out this time." I replied.

Yasmin snorted as she counteracted with, "you busted your ass that day."

"I did not!" I argued playfully.

"Ryan, you wiped out so hard I thought you broke your back." Yasmin took a shot at me.

I pretended to be offended by her words and then smugly challenged her, "oh it's like that now? Fine, if I don't fall on my butt this time, you have to pay."

"Deal! Oh, and I will be ordering dessert so make sure you're prepared." Yasmin willingly accepted.

"Oh I'll be prepared, to order a big meal. I'll have leftovers for days." I confidently retorted.

"Need me to ice your ass too?" Yasmin asked.

"You stare at it all the time so something tells me you wouldn't mind." I said.

"Yeah yeah, whatever," Yasmin responded as her smile continued to please me. I hugged her before she started to walk away, "bye."

"Bye." I watched her go.

Well, I would say that it had went pretty well. That is, until I heard someone clearing their throat from behind me. Oh no, you have got to be kidding me. I turned around and saw all of the varsity kids in their jackets, standing by the lockers. Mark and Dane were standing in front with wide smirks covering their faces. A couple of the others had whistled. It was just like the first day of school, except without the prank, which I was appreciative of.

"How long have you idiots been standing there?" I asked.

"First off, we're not idiots peanut head," one of Mark's friends teased. His name is Sean by the way, "and second, we were here the whole time."

I sighed and covered my face with one of my hands.

"It's ok," Dane said afterwards, "we don't blame you little dude, she's hot."

"Damn right she is," Sean agreed, "where'd you find her at? She have an older sister cause I'd be down bruh."

Dane rolled his eyes. I just wanted to leave without further humiliation. That clearly was not going to happen since I failed to disagree and only smiled again. How could I not agree? She is beautiful.

"Aww, little man's got a crush." Another one of Mark's friends made fun of me.

Carter Benson made that comment. You will get to know the rest of the team eventually. I tried to walk away, but one of the guys pulled me back. I knew who it was.

"What?" I questioned in, now becoming annoyed. I really did not want them to get in my bussiness, especially if it does not help me.

"How long have you known this girl and how haven't I met her yet?" My brother asked.

"Reasons." I say.

"Being?" Dane wanted to know.

"I...can't think of those reasons right now, but I'll let you know when I do." I try to escape.

Sean pulled me right back, which meant that I could not get out of this one so easily.

"Dude, why keep her a secret? I just met her anyways, so you might as well let the cat out of the bag." Mark inquired to me.

"You didn't meet her, you guys were just being nosy." I pointed out.

"Okay well, what's her name?" Sean queried.

"I'm not telling you." I replied.

"Why not?" Carter asked.

"Because then you're all gonna tease me." I brought up the obvious.

"Well that's our job." Another guy responded to me.

His name is Quint. Yes I know, not a typical name for a person is it? I let out another sigh.

"Come on, who is she?" Mark pressed as he poked my shoulder.

"No," I smacked his finger away, "I don't want you to know. I don't need her liking you."

"Dude I have a girlfriend, so it's not gonna happen." Mark retorted.

I crossed my arms.

"Yeah man, Mark Walker's taken," Carter defended Mark's statement, "you got nothing to worry about. Plus, she's seems way more interested in you. You better take that cause it may never come again."

Woah woah, okay let's pause for a second. Why in the world do people think I have no game? Just because I was not trying to find myself a girlfriend does not mean I'm hopeless at it. Geez.

"Carter, who've you dated after Daphne?" I asked with a smirk on my face after that remark. The jocks laughed at my question while Carter glared at me, "exactly, now all of you butt out and stay out."

I turned around to leave and find my friends.

"Just make sure to invite us to the wedding!" I heard Quint shout when I left them.

Damn, my face had to be red at this point. I walked away a little quicker to pull myself away from this situation.
