12:34 pm

"I don't have a lot of time left," Thomas said as he looked at Newt who was criss crossed on his floor, folding clothes.

"What?" The blonde boy stopped and looked up at him. "What do you mean?"

"I have to go back soon."

"Go back where?" Newt asked as he frowned. "Tommy, don't fuck with me."

"To my time, to 2003." Thomas looked down. "To my eighteen year old body and my nineteen year old Newt."

     "That's weird," Newt said softly.

     "What is?"

"That that makes me jealous." Newt scoffed out a laugh. "I'm jealous of myself."

Thomas slid down onto the floor next to him. "I love you then and I love you now."

Newt looked him with this completely vulnerable expression. "How does it work? Am I just gonna wake up and you'll be gone?"

"I don't know," Thomas said softly as he reached out and squeezed Newt's hand. "You might not even remember I was here. I just don't know."

Panic flashed across Newt's face. "What? I won't remember you?"

"Maybe not." Thomas squeezed his hand again.

He didn't miss the tears building up in Newt's eyes. "It's not fair," he muttered quietly.

     Thomas gently kissed his forehead.

Newt threw his arms around him, almost knocking Thomas over.

"It's not fair," Newt muttered again.

Thomas wrapped his arms around the boy's waist, pulling him into him more. "We'll be together soon though."

Newt pulled back and wiped his eyes. "I knew it was too good to be true."

     "What?"

"You're perfect for me Tommy, we work. I'm happy with you. I love you. I knew I wasn't going to have that forever. It's too good to be true."

Thomas' heart tightened. "No that's the thing, we get to be together now! We get to be together in the future because of this!"

Newt frowned. "I want to be together now."

Thomas leaned over and kissed him. "I know."

     Newt frowned. "Kiss me again."

     Thomas obliged.

"Promise me," Newt said when Thomas pulled away from him.

     "Promise you what?"

"That we get a happy ending."

Thomas held out his pinky. "I promise."

Newt smiled softly. "Fucking dork." He locked his pinky with his anyways.

Thomas pulled Newt in and kissed him again, smiling against his lips. Yeah, he was stupid in love, but it was fine.

Newt stood up, hopping on the bed before patting the spot next to him. "Come up here."

     "But the laundry..."

     "Fuck the laundry Tommy."

Thomas pursed his lips but climbed onto the bed anyways.

Newt immediately cuddled into him, wrapping his arms around him like if he squeezed hard enough Thomas wouldn't have to go.

"Whatcha doing?" Thomas asked softly as he started absentmindedly running his fingers through Newt's hair.

"You said we don't have a lot of time left, I'm making sure we spend whatever time we do have in a good way." Newt smiled softly. "And laundry is not a good way."

Thomas kissed him. "You make a fair point."

"Now shut the fuck up and cuddle me like your life depends on it."

Thomas laughed. "Was that a threat?"

     "Yes."

4:57 pm

Thomas woke up from his weird on and off again nap he was taking with Newt to a knock on the door. He slowly untangled himself from the blonde before getting up off the bed and swinging the door open.

"Hank?" Thomas asked as he scrunched up his face and looked at the man at the door.

"Hey Thomas," he said as he scratched the back of his neck. "I-uh I think you need to come with me."

Thomas felt a sense of panic bubble in his chest. "Did something happen I-"

"Tommy? Everything okay?" Newt appeared behind him, his arms crossed over his chest, he was probably cold.

     "Hi Newt."

The blonde boy nodded his head in greeting at the older man.

"There's something we need to discuss," Hank said as he looked almost nervously at Thomas. The way his eyes kept skidding made him beyond nervous.

"What's going on?" Thomas asked again, the panic was full force now.

"We need to go see the professor."

Thomas turned around and looked at Newt. "I'll be back okay."

Newt shook his head. "Like hell you will, I'm coming with you."

Thomas gave him a half smile and took his hand.

Hank looked more hesitant at that. "It's kinda perso..."

"It's fine." Thomas waved him off.

Hank let out a sigh, but dropped it, starting down the hallway.

Newt and Thomas followed behind him. Thomas couldn't hide the way his heart was pounding, he could hear it in his ears.

Newt seemed to pick up on it and squeezed his hand a little bit.

When they finally got to the professor's office, Thomas felt sick but having Newt there definitely helped.

"Hi," Thomas said feeling weird all over again. He wasn't supposed to know who he was, Hank probably told him about the future thing but he hadn't seen Xavier since he'd been here.

"Thomas," the professor said. "We need to talk about something."

     Thomas nodded, swallowing hard. "Okay."

"Do you know where your parents are?"

Thomas scoffed lightly. "No. Also I don't care."

Hank and the professor exchanged a look.

"Okay, can someone tell me what's going on?"

"Your parents, they know you're here."

Thomas felt his blood run cold. "What? How? No this doesn't happen until..." Until the future.

"Thomas," The professor said sternly. "Your parents contacted us."

     "What?!"

No. What. They weren't supposed to find him for another few years. They can't be here now.

     "It was a threat."

Thomas felt dizzy and he tipped a bit in his spot. Newt squeezed his hand harder, letting him know that he was there.

     "N-no they're not supposed to, they do-don't..."

"Tommy," Newt said softly as he let go of his hand.

He looked down, his veins were running black.

"Fuck!" he muttered as he stumbled backwards. Everything was spiraling, it was out of control it was out of...

"Tommy? What's happening?" Newt asked softly as he reached out for Thomas.

A very clear image of his hands on Newt's chest shooting the same exact black smoke through his chest flashed through his head.

"Don't touch me!" Thomas yelped as he jumped backwards, pulling his hands to his chest. He was shaking, his back pressed tightly against the wall.

     Hurt flashed across Newt's face.

The images wouldn't stop, they kept flashing across his field of vision, making it hard to concentrate. He wasn't scared, no, Thomas was fucking petrified.

He could faintly hear Hank and the professor shouting something, they sounded frantic.

Thomas clamped his hands over his ears, he was hot, so hot. It was all too much, everything was overloading, he wanted to scream, needed to scream.

He felt a hand on his arm which made him flinch and hit his back harder against the wall.

His eyes snapped open, it was Newt. Something about seeing him made it all the worse.

"I killed you!" Thomas screamed. "Don't you get it?! I killed you!" Thomas was trembling. "I killed you and if you don't get away from me I'll do it again!"

His veins were thick and dark, the smoke was curling around his limbs, he looked terrifying.

"Get in my head," Thomas shouted at the professor. "Tell him I'm not lying!"

Xavier was just staring at him calmly, an unreadable expression on his face.

Newt's eyes were wide, he looked scared. Hank was pressed against the opposite wall, his glasses were crooked on his nose.

"I'm not afraid of you Thomas," Xavier said calmly. "Settle down so we can discuss this."

Thomas' heart was still racing, the blood was pumping hard in his ears. "I-I d-don't know h-how."

"Yes you do, I know that you do," Xavier said again. He smiled softly. "Like you said, I got in your head."

The room stopped spinning, Thomas took in a giant gasping breath, like the block in his throat just magically disappeared. He took a few gasping breaths as his heart rate steadied and his veins faded back to their normal pale blue color.

"Sit," the professor said as he motioned to the chair.

Thomas listened, slowly sitting down in the little black chair. He jumped a little bit when Newt appeared behind him, putting his hand softly on his back. He rubbed his thumb in little circles over the fabric. It felt nice, comforting even. Newt pressed a soft kiss to his head.

"We're going to talk later okay?" Newt whispered softly too him before going back to rubbing his back.

"Thomas," Xavier started. "We got a message from your parents saying that they have a planned attack on the school."

Thomas looked at Hank who nodded slightly. "I told him."

"They do, or will attack. It wasn't supposed to happen for a few years though." Thomas sighed. "I was trying to stop everything from happening."

Xavier looked confused for a moment. "How do your parents know that you're here?"

"I honestly have no idea, they aren't even supposed to know that I'm alive. The invasion was kinda the start of everything bad, but the way that the school ran after it was impressive. Training got more intense." Thomas smiled softly. "We would have been ready if they attacked again."

"We're not ready now," Xavier said as he clasped his hands together. "We still have kids who can't control their mutation, kids who are too young. We can't afford an attack."

Something dawned on Thomas. "Why did they send a message telling they were going to attack? That doesn't seem like something they would do."

Hank and Xavier exchanged a look.

Hank took a breath and looked back at Thomas. "That wasn't everything in the message."

     "What do you mean?"

"They were willing to make a deal."

     "A deal?"

"To cease the attack if we give you up."

Newt's grip tightened on him. "What the fuck?! No! That's insane. They can't just have Tommy!"

"Newt calm down," Hank said softly.

"No!" Newt snapped as he scrunched his hand in the back of Thomas' shirt, almost as if he held on tight enough it would do something.

Thomas hooked his arm around Newt's waist. "Newt, it's okay."

"We shouldn't trade lives!" Newt snapped. "I-it's not f-fair!" He was getting really worked up.

"We're not going to trade lives," Xavier said. "I'd never put Thomas' life at risk."

Thomas looked up at Newt who still had a death grip on his shirt. He looked overly panicked. Then it hit Thomas. Newt loses everyone he cares about, he was terrified of losing Thomas too.

     "Hey," he said softly.

     "Yeah?"

     "I'm not gonna leave you."

Newt was shaking so Thomas just tightened his grip on him.

     "You're stuck with me Newt."

"I had a plan," the professor spoke again. "We'll only follow through with your full consent."

     Thomas nodded, listening intently.

     "I think you should go."

Thomas squeezed Newt lightly as if to tell him to relax.

"You said you haven't spoken to your parents, I doubt they know much about your power so that could be a good weapon if you need it. If you meet them we may be able to avoid an attack on the school."

"They'll kill him!" Newt snapped. "You can't just send him to his certain death."

"Newt, sh," Thomas gently shushed him and pulled him down onto his lap. "You need to relax."

"If what Hank tells me is true about you, if you're really in danger my future self will know when to pull you out of this time period."

"You can look in my head and see if I'm lying," Thomas said.

Xavier nodded. "I could, but where's the fun in that?"

     Thomas thought for a moment. "I don't think it's a bad idea."

"What the fuck?!" Newt snapped. "You're not actually considering this?!"

"I think I have to," Thomas said slowly. "I think this is something I have to do."

     "You're insane! You're actually insane!"

Thomas looked at him, trying to muster the most serious expression his face could handle. "We'll talk about this later, for right now stop."

"We would all be there if things went wrong," Xavier said.

"I thought that keeping my parents alive would fix everything in the future," Thomas mumbled softly, "but now that we're talking about this I think that I was wrong. I think that I need to be the one who kills them."

Xavier was silent which meant he agreed with what Thomas was saying.

"They won't stop. They'll never stop," Thomas stated.

He looked between Hank and Xavier. "I'll do it. I have to stop them."

5:25 pm

"Hey," Thomas said softly as he pressed a kiss to the back of Newt's neck. "How long are you going to ignore me for?"

Newt just huffed in response. He hadn't spoken since they got back to the room. He sat on the edge of the bed, his arms crossed over his chest.

"I love you," Thomas said as he kept at his assault of kisses over the back of Newt's neck and the little strips of skin showing up above his collar.

"You don't get it," Newt grumbled. "You really don't get it."

"Tell me what I don't get."

Newt turned around roughly, tears in his eyes. "You don't care about dying, I get it. You have to be the big hero, whatever." Newt wiped his eyes hard. "If you get hurt now, that means I take you away from myself twice. That means your parents took four people away from me. They keep taking everyone I love away."

Thomas frowned. "Hey." He gently rubbed the boy's cheeks. "It isn't like that."

Newt scoffed. "It is like that Tommy. You don't care what happens to you, but I care. I care so much."

Thomas pressed a soft kiss to his nose. "I'm not going to get myself killed."

"It's not fair." Newt sniffled. "You just come in here and make me fall in love with you, completely head over heels and then pull this shit on me! You can't...it's not...it's not fair Tommy."

Thomas felt his heart breaking, everything in his body was screaming at him to help Newt, but he had no idea how to.

Thomas gently tipped his chin up. "I love you. I. Love. You. I wouldn't hurt you on purpose. You need to have a little more faith in me. Plus, I'm really good at staying alive so I can annoy you again and again."

Newt's eyes were rimmed red and his lower lip was trembling. "I guess you are pretty annoying."

Thomas pressed a light kiss to his lips. "Don't be sad, it's going to work out, I promise. Then in a couple years we'll get a house and a dog and we can adopt Minho as our other pet."

Newt smiled softly at that. "Can Kis and El live with us too?"

"As long as they're okay with loud sex."

Newt snorted out a laugh as he wiped his eyes. "You know I never thought about that."

     "About what?"

"The fact that we've had sex and you remember it but I don't because it technically hasn't happened yet." Newt laughed again. "You know what my dick looks like yet you've technically never seen it."

"Yeah, you took pity on me and made sure I didn't become an adult virgin."

Newt had stopped crying, he kept laughing. "That's so funny to me."

Thomas raised his eyebrow. "Excuse me who's the virgin now?"

"Technically both of us." Newt was quiet for a moment. "You said my first time wasn't with you, do you know who it was with?"

     "Minho."

Newt made a sound that resembled a cat spitting up a hairball. "What the fuck?!"

Thomas laughed. "You told me you both got drunk and decided to get it over with."

"That's actually repulsive." Newt shivered. "Ew, oh my god."

"I'll take it that it hadn't happened yet."

"It hasn't and it never will."

Thomas shook his head and pressed another kiss to Newt's lips because he could. "You're cute and dramatic."

Newt scowled at him. "I'm not dramatic, that's legitimately repulsive."

     "Still a little dramatic."

     Newt rolled his eyes.

"I really do love you," Thomas said softly. "You matter the most in the world to me."

Newt smiled softly. "I love you too."

Newt pushed him down onto his back and crawled on top of him. "You know that saying, live everyday like it's your last?"

     Thomas nodded. "Yeah I do."

"Since I'm in love with an idiot with a death wish, I think I need to take that more seriously."

     "I don't have a death wis-"

Newt put his hand over his mouth. "You're not understanding."

Thomas shook his head as if to say, yeah he wasn't understanding.

Newt sighed. "I really hope you aren't this stupid when we're both older."

Thomas shrugged, he wasn't this stupid in the future, he was much much stupider.

"You know how I was your first time?"

     Thomas nodded.

"Isn't it only fair if you're also mine?"

Thomas' eyes widened at the realization.

"Yo nna ave x?" Thomas mumbled from behind Newt's hand which he removed and wiped on his pants.

     "You wanna have sex?"

Newt nodded. "I don't have that much longer with you apparently, and I trust you."

Thomas opened and closed his mouth, probably resembling some type of fish.

Newt smirked down at him. "Now hey, It might be my first time, but I still top."

Thomas just pulled him down for a hard kiss, trying to say I love you without words.
