Chapter 10: Crystal Hunt!

At 6 o'clock in the morning the company was already sitting on the train. They were talking about seemingly insignificant things, but what went telepathically showed how attentive they were to their surroundings. They sat in the second cabin, to be specific, in the front, middle and the end of the cabin.

This was said during last night's meeting. Rachel has designed the whole plan.
"I made everyone head open to telepathy. I did it between six and exterior can't intervene in and don't even hear."
"It's all nice and good, but how will we know who will be the crystals?" Alto asked, while he sit on Vermeil's lap.
"The train has first cabin takeoff, as guides are hardly used for it. As soon as they boarded and validated the ticket, they immediately start down to the back of the train. You can only stay on the first car for a V.I.P. ticket, as food and drinks are served there."
"That double I don't think they're gonna be that show-off. Sounds like a smart plan." Dan said.
"Anyone have any questions?"
"I have one. How do blind people know they're out of toilet paper?" Vermeil asked curiously, by the time Neider got into the joke.
"Good thing we don't have to use hand signals to communicate. I think I know one."
Then he struck his two hands together, and with his left hand he showed a peace sign, then he put his thumb and forefinger together, and finally his eyes seemed to see something important. Alto got that.
"Pantsu Maru Mie. Your underwear is showing."
"YAAHHH" Neider shouted and started a complicated high-five to Alto. Rachel began to lose her patience.
"We're about to go on a raid, and you guys are fooling around?"
Dan laughed satisfactorily, while Lilia smiled too.

Returning to the train, it was only five minutes until the start. Alto had one of his arms embraced Vermeil while holding a book with the other. It was, of course just cover his watching eyes.
"Honey. Your hand is very low." she whispered to his ear.
"Sorry."
"I didn't tell you to take it from there. Move lover."
She hugged him with this sentence and put his head on her breasts. In addition, nothing happened. Slowly the train set off but no one noticed anything suspicious of passengers. They began to think what the devil was going on, when Lilia got out of her seat. However, something is not right about her. It was like her skin was rotting and her teeth were falling out. Alto had a seizure and started coughing up blood. Vermeil became ill, but he tried to find a rational solution. Rachel fainted and gradually rotten her skin. Neider is switched by.
"This can be a work of one assassin filth! Plus, I know this spell."
"Then don't waste our time, because we're all going to perish here." Dan said faintly. His fur began to fall out and his eyes became more and more fallen.
"This is a spell called Rot and Decay. He's rotting everyone on the train. It goes to the body heat, so we need to cool ourselves."
"Why don't you start with this?"
Dan quickly made ice with a simple spell. Neider gave it to everyone's mouth, so the curse stopped and turned back. Lilia and Alto got up from the ground.
"How the hell is this possible? No one suspected took off."
"Then we were wrong and they are in the first cabin."
"I'm going to see that." Neider said and go to the first cabin, but just only the dying people are there. "There's nobody here! We need to find the culprit right now, or we'll going to die."
"Then I will handle this piece of shit. In the meantime, give ice as many people as possible. We try to minimize deaths." Dan said and pointed to the ice. The company did so, but they also left themselves.

Dan carefully opened the cars in turn, placing his gun on standby in case they found him first. Finally, it was in the rearmost car that he realized that they had not come with the passengers, but disguised themselves as guides.
"Brother! Your spell is successful?"
"Ryoshi! I told you to call Hakai when we are in mission."
"Sorry, Hakai."
"Otherwise, yes. However, six people's body heat is so low that it became ineffective against."
"So that mean..."
"Yes, it's them. The Demons are not affected by the spell at such a rate, so... Shit!
"What it is?"
"I'm sensing more and more falling body heat. And the original five are constantly in motion."
"And the sixth one?"
That's when Dan shot. His pistol is special in that it makes a water projectile out of his manna, which can either bounce or penetrate solid objects. He fired six rounds that bounced in the cabin. When Dan opened it, he found no one there. It can't be. He clearly heard them talking. So it was just an illusion?
"Nice shot." a voice sounded, but was so echoed that he couldn't get his place. "However, we also hid secrets in our sleeves."
Dan recognise the voice.
"Hakai! You damn, sociopathic filth!"
"Dan, you scum! You know what's got for traitors. It's not a nice thing to turn your back on our Master."
"I will not call that coward a master!"
"But you agreed to do it. Never mind, I'll kill you while my brother takes care of the others. Don't even try to go back. You have long been a slave to my illusion."
Then Dan felt as if the world had turned upside down. He tried to gather himself, but as if his head was leaning on a jelly.

The company distributed the ice in turn to those who were still alive. Rachel noticed a dangerous thing.
"The train is accelerating. at this rate, we'll crash into the terminus in an hour."
"Then I pull the emergency break." Alto exclaimed, but Lilia and Vermeil took his hand.
"Do you remember what dan said about one of the take-off members? He can summon Manna-powered fishing line and hook that goes through everything." Lilia whispered.
"Then we need to find where he put the hook."
"The problem is, that Elena was the most perfect manna sensor but she's not here." Vermeil answered. Neider tried to sense the flow of manna, as did Rachel.
"The most important thing at the moment is not to touch anything."
Neider screamed in pain. Alto saw the cause from the foot up something like a hook crawled up. He jumped back quickly, but something jerked him towards the rear carriages. Rachel immediately summoned some spiritual creatures.
"Quickly, find the source of the magic!"
Then they pushed forward. The company followed them. One of them scream to indicate that he had found his source. Alto fired the distance with his ear and launched a line of crystal columns in that direction. Their opponent was excluded from the magic and forced to escape. At least, that's what Neider's leg was referring to. At the same time, there were only dead people in the cabin who had been killed by Rot and Decay. For a while, they were just listening and trying to figure out where the guy was. But nothing happened. Vermeil, on the other hand, had an idea.
"Lilia. Summon..."
That's all she could say when the line started running up her leg. Alto tried to slow him down by using a crystal under her leg to slow down the hook that was already at her thigh. Despite the effort, however, it did not slow down. Neider and Rachel were trying to pull themselves together and find the source. It's a hundred meters... above their heads! Then Rachel switched and transformed into a vampire and then jumped out of one window.
"Gotcha! Fire Whip!"
The fire whip summoned by the spell successfully hit the member's arm, who had to stop the hook.
"You goddamm vampire!"
"I'm afraid the game is over. I could tell you to give up but I know your master's methods."
"Good. Because then you are aware that there will be nothing personal behind your death."
"Don't be sure about that." Rachel mourned and strike him with fire balls.

Dan slowly, but gathered his thoughts. He closed his eyes and leaned on his senses. Daniel Harris of the Beastman species has excellent vision, smell and hearing. But, not because of this, they are the most excellent trackers, but because of their inner sense. In essence, if they are constantly training this segment, the illusion will not affect them. Opened his eyes and looked around. He stood where he were shot to his enemies. However, as he opened the door, as if it were in a room filled with mirrors.
"Do you think you'll find me? You will run out of ice sooner than you find my footprint."
Hakai didn't lie. He had a minute left before the ice melted in his mouth for good. Fully committed to seeing beyond the illusion to find his target, who continued his speech.
"Remember your brother Jacob? Well, Oersted probably killed him. He knew he didn't put his seal on you, but he knows everyone's weakness. Why do you think there's no traitor in his cult?"
Where is he? He's not in the cabin, not at the top, but even in the rear of the train. Which mean...
"It is a pity for you. Your parents will die soon and finally you! Although, if you beg me, I will accelerate this step."
"Got you!" Dan cried out and shot down as much as his manna allowed. This has already hit Hakai, who thus has all his spell eliminated.
"How can you defeat me?"
"It is simple. Next time, don't underestimate your opponent, or you'll regret it for the rest of your life. I mean, it's too late. As the information about my parent and brother...it was a lie. I don't have a family."
Dan pushed the emergency brake. The train slowly but surely lost it's speed. There is only one target left.

Ryoshi suffered cruelly against Rachel. He used earth spells but is worth little against the opponent, who flying in the air. When Dan pressed the emergency brake, he fell backwards.
"The train is stopping. That mean... no! My brother died! You're gonna pay for this!"
Then he threw a thousand ground needles at his opponent, which she was forced to avoid, but at least a hundred must have hit her. She had to land, because she couldn't fly anymore. Fortunately, the train has stopped slowly so even the reinforcement has come.
"End of the line, Ryoshi." Rachel moaned and raised her hand to another attack. But then a surprising thing happened. Ryoshi knelt on the ground and begged.
"Don't kill me! I'll join you! You see, my hand doesn't have the seal, just like Dan's case."
Although the company was on the edge, it really stopped them. Dan jumped up then and had shouted to the company in vain, the trouble happened. Suddenly Vermeil was aimed and toward her heart the hook.
"You ate my lie, morons! I just wrap around her heart and she passes out. From then on, my hostage, so the song will end for you."
The line penetrated the heart area. Alto looked at her and nodded. Vermeil collapsed.
"What did I tell you? And now..."
Everyone was shocked. Alto transformed, while the line broke. They used soul fusion, but now it was deliberately the other way around to protect Vermeil. Alto approached Ryoshi with slow steps, he already frozen in fear of the end result of the fusion.
"You last, backstabbing worm! Do you attack my love while you pray for your life? You will regret this for a lifetime... every seconds of it."
He started hitting him constantly.
"MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA MUDA..."
It went through for a minute and there was no mercy in it. Every "MUDA" seems to be a personal revenge for what has been done to them by Professor Obsidian, including right here. He finally executed Ryoshi with a single hook.
"WRYYYY!"
This was the last cry that left Alto's mouth, before he fainted. Vermeil's soul returned to her body.
"So that's why they say never piss off a patient person. Make sense." Rachel said.
"There is only the "Road roller da!" missing, and my happiness is done. That wasn't bad either, I said." Dan laughed. Neider picked up Vermeil.
"Let's get our stuff and walk from here."
"True. We can't stay here for a long time." Lilia said, still shocked on her face. She wouldn't have believed she would ever see Alto in such a condition. The fight is over. Ryoshi and Hakai both died, as did most of the innocent passengers. The only people who survived were the ones who got ice, but they were in a coma.

They quickly gathered their stuff and went to the forest near the to train. They didn't want to give the Magic Police a report because they didn't have that much time for that. Dan stopped the team after a few minutes.
"Haven't you forgotten why we're here?"
After some seconds, everyone slapped on the forehead except Dan.
"Shit! The memory crystals!" Neider exclaimed. In the heat of the action they have forgotten about it.
"Luckily, I'm thinking, not like you."
Dan pulled out the two crystals. In the meantime, Vermeil also woke up.
"Did I miss something?" she asked, while she stand up.
"Nothing special. Arre you okay?" Rachel summed it up, but there was no answer, because she immediately ran to Alto, grabbed him and hugged him.
"You are so genius, honey."
"Wait, what?"
"What do you mean he's a genius? Did he know what that garbage was planning?"
"Yes. What is most beautiful is that he didn't need telepathy. He was just a nodded."
"It wasn't that big thing that is like that..."
Alto could only go on so far because his girlfriend hugged him tightly and kissed him.
"God really made you for each other." Dan said and laughed.
"God? I can tell you one or two thing about that." Neider added darkly.
"It's great that you guys love each other, but we need to get our as soon as possible. We should be as far away from the train as possible by evening." Rachel sighted. Vermeil agreed and put Alto on the ground after the kiss and then grabbed each other's hands.

The company felt that they had made tremendous progress. It is only the third day of the two weeks, but they have already obtained two important clues to the organization of Platinum Ranking. As they later learned, nothing was tied to the train incident. The simple reason for this is that no one remembers them from the survivors.
