I want to do this with my Derek boi so here we are.

What frustrates you the most?

Derek can absolutely not stand having his hands tied. When he's in danger, that's one thing. He'll spit in the face of danger (or more likely laugh in it) and breeze through with his devil-may-care attitude. But as long as he can do something about it, he's fine. When all outlets are closed, that's when the frustration starts to build in him, like a simmering volcano. It'll drive him crazy, and the more it torments him, the more desperate he'll get, until he's finally a desperado. He'll do anything to release that pent-up frustration. Options that were once a "no" become a "yes".

This is... obviously not a good state of affairs.

For me, it'd be things interfering with my expectations. That, and people who act superior to entire demographics of other people.

What is the one thing you wanted or want more strongly than anything else in your life?

Derek wants high adventure with nice solid, well-defined stakes. That's literally all he wants in life. As long as he has a purpose to pursue, and lots of free space to do it in (no mentors breathing down HIS neck, please and thank you), he's cool with life. He spent his early adulthood working as a mail courier, and then switched to the Legean Association. Handy when your dad happens to be the senior member's best friend.

If you could do ANYTHING as a job...

Derek: What does she mean, "pretending that pay and benefits aren't important"? Of course they're not.

Easy for the mega-skillz hunter/trapper who lives his life on free-range territory to say.

Derek is living his dream job and try as I might I don't think he could be happier. He definitely wouldn't be able to find the same level of fulfillment in this world, although I could see him going in for being a park ranger or something like that.

Me, I've got it all figured out. I want to be an author, a part-time librarian, and a volunteer babysitter for my friend's kids while I remain single. And if I'm honest, the single twenties are looking like a really great time. I can go places and do things and work and write and live life, and then if I meet some awesome guy we can hook up and bring BABIESSSSSSS into the mix and I can babysit MY babies instead of my friend's babies and watch my author career evaporate for the next thirty years and wave goodbye to the library job for a while and why yes I think motherhood is the greatest thing in the world, anything else you needed to know?

If you had to have kids, how many would you want, and what would be your limit?

Derek: *chokes on water*

Poor bachelor dude. *cough* not quite as bachelor as he thinks *cough*

Derek would be ambivalent toward the whole idea. He wouldn't have a specific number in mind, but if you pushed him, he'd probably say, "Oh yeah, one or two." After he had one or two, he'd kiss the babies and say nonsense to them when he thought no-one was listening and lowkey want more.

I want as many as the Lord gives me, but personal preference is five minimum, probably nine maximum. What can I say? I grew up in a big family.

What scares you most of all?

*scratches head* Derek, help me out. Is there anything on this green earth that scares, actually SCARES you.

Derek: Most of this earth isn't green, you know. I've traveled it. A lot of it is brown, and kind of grey in places, or just generally pale, because wild grass isn't actually green, it's just pale.

Pain scares Derek. Physical pain. He does really stupid stuff without thinking, reminiscent of his dad, but the consequences hit him a lot harder. Pain, for Mordred, is pretty much life, because it was his life for about eighteen years. Derek will fight the pain with just as much stubborn energy as his dad, but he has a harder time coping and the idea of doing anything to make the pain worse FREAKS. HIM. OUT.

He breaks his leg? He doesn't want the doctor to set it. He gets shot? He'll try to avoid pulling the arrow out as long as possible. He gets his shoulders ripped apart by a -- okay, we're treading into spoiler territory here.

I have a literal phobia of asphyxiation. I would honestly rather burn to death than be strangled or drown. People choking on water makes my heart rate start hammering and my nerves tingle. My siblings have been known to freak me out on purpose -_- XD

Do you like being the center of attention?

Derek doesn't care. I mean, he doesn't care. Not one fraction. All eyes on him, all eyes off him, doesn't make a difference as long as he has elbow room.

I like it. Yes, I do. I'm not super proud of it, because it's a kind of selfish enjoyment, but I'm also proud of it, because it means that I can handle myself well around people.

How do you feel about cancelled plans?

Derek: What? Who cares? They probably weren't my plans, anyway.

Derek, dear, let's assume they were your plans.

Derek: Well, if they mean plans to meet up with Douglas and rescue him from a Rodronian dungeon, I suppose that would be different.

*facepalm* Could I get some kind of medium between those two extremes?

Derek: I'm giving you answers. Truthful answers, at that. If you don't like them, what am I supposed to do?

Embarrassed to admit it but that's generally what I feel like whenever anything gets cancelled these days. IM STILL EXTROVERTED I TELL YOU I JUST ALSO NEED WRITING TIME

If you HAD to be in a relationship with somebody, what qualities attract you?

Derek: She's got to be cute. And perky. And maybe flies off the handle once in a while. Pretends to hate my teasing but actually loves it. (Not like Margaret though. Margaret loves my teasing but she thinks she hates it and that's another thing. Girl doesn't know what's good for her.) Anyway, other qualities: Must have long, silky hair that I can watch her brush. Calls me names in foreign languages.

Derek hon are you thinking of someone in particular.

I'm literally coming up with most of this on the fly, but:

- Has opinions and I can argue with him in a friendly sort of way.

- Appreciates my writing and my need to write, even if he doesn't love my writing per se

- Tolerates my squealy fangirl/enthused artist side (maybe even thinks it's cute??).

I have other stipulations, like doctrinal stuff (not marrying a Baptist, sorry XD) but those don't specifically attract me.

Who is more physically in shape, and which one is more open to outdoor activities?

Um Derek no contest. That guy lives and breathes the outdoors, whereas I am a haunted-eyed writer glued to my indoor writing nook. I do like hiking though. And being outside. Just... no way I'd beat Derek.

Your favorite musical?

I don't know a lot of musicals but I'll do my best with what I know.

I have to say, if there's one thing it's hard to picture, it's Derek sitting down to watch a theater performance. He could totally make a career as an actor in one, though... He would like Frozen because the sibling relationship would make him think of himself and Douglas, but more as a side preference. I think Phantom of the Opera would hold a particular appeal for him because of its straightforward story, interesting themes, and creepy/horror atmosphere.

Let's be real, he would love romances more than non-romances. Derek is such a shipper.
