The Best of The Best
Hello guys. Here's another chapter. Hope you guys enjoy it. Also, My writing might be slightly different in this chapter; I blame a change in my current mood on that. I'm usually tired and stressed out. My writing didn't change too much, just some more cometary I guess? I also noticed that Izuku is becoming a little OOC in my story. Sorry about that. Anyways, I hope you guys love my chapter.
The teams were drawn. This moment would either make it or break it for the hopeful in the final stage of the Sports Festival. Meanwhile, young Eri was about to begin her first patrol. But unlike Verde's first patrol, Eri's first patrol would end up shaking up the world. But, that's for later. Right now, Izuku is about to start his first battle in the final stage of the Sports Festival. Not going to lie, this match was going to be a rough one. Kirishima was built like a rock, but Izuku, he was all brains and dirty fighting. It would be an interesting fight indeed. Izuku entered the ring as Kirishima entered from the other side. The redhead was wearing a big grin as they met in the center of the ring. Izuku smiled back, already coming up with at least twenty plans to defeat his manly classmate. He liked Kirishima, he really did, but he had to prove a point today, and if Kirishima has to fall then so be it. No hard feelings, right? Getting your ass handed to you by a quirkless kid on live television can't be that bad, right? Yeah... a lot of people were going to get wrecked today. Not Izuku's fault that people can be so cruel nowadays.
"You better go all out on me, bro." Kirishima cheered.
"I could say the same to you, Kirishima. I've got something to prove so you better go all out as well!" Izuku responded.
"TWO MEMBERS OF CLASS 1-A, AND DEBATABLY THE MOST DETERMINED MEN IN THEIR CLASS, WE HAVE THE MANIC GREENBEAN, IZUKU MIDORIYA, AND THE MANLIEST GUY AROUND, EJIROU KIRISHIMA!!!"
Midnight announced the starting of the match, and Kirishima immediately hardened his whole body (Damn, wasn't that weird to type?) and went to punch Izuku. Izuku ducked and kicked out his feet to trip the redheaded teen. Kirishima fell down but quickly rolled to his left as Izuku jumped up and kicked towards the place Kirishima was just seconds ago.
Izuku smirked as Kirishima got up and they started circling each other. "You're reflexes aren't half bad."
"I could say the same to you, man. You're pretty fast." Kirishima grinned.
Izuku pulled out his bo-staff lunged forward and swung at Kirishima. Kirishima stepped to the side to avoid the incoming hit, leaving Midoriya to go past him. Midoriya quickly turned and swung at Kirishima's neck, disorienting him. If Kirishima hadn't activated his quirk earlier, that attack would have fully taken him out. "However, it seems your reflexes aren't good enough against mine!" Izuku noted as he dropped his staff.
Kirishima went to punch Izuku (read sluggishly punch), but Izuku caught him by the arm with both hands and swung him out of bounds.
"Sorry, Kirishima, but I'm not going down that easy." Izuku declared as he raised his fist into the air. he then picked his staff back up and put it back on his back (he was allowed a scabbard for it I guess)
"Ejirou Kirishima is out of bounds!!! Izuku Midoriya moves on to the next round!" Midnight announced to the crowd.
Kirishima groaned as he tried to get up. He could only sit up due to him still being disoriented. Kirishima rubbed his head as he looked up to an approaching Izuku. "That was manly throw there, Midoriya. You surprised me there."
Izuku helped him up with a smile. "Hey, don't cut yourself short. You did great out there as well. To last as long as you did against a blackbelt welder is amazing."
"I only lasted like a minute or so." Kirishima replied with doubt. "That's hardly impressive."
Izuku helped him sit down on the stretcher that would take him to the nurse's office. "Exactly, that's longer than most people nowadays."
Izuku made his way through the tunnels to get back to his seat. He ran into Mei, who was making her way to the arena. "Hey, Mei."
"Hey, Midori! Make sure to watch out for my fantastic usage of my babies! If you see any that you think would help with your hobby, let me know!" Mei grinned.
"Will do. I'm rooting for you! You better not throw this match out in the end. The more matches you get through, the more chances you get to advertise your babies after all." Izuku beamed.
"Hear ya loud and clear, chief."I Mei mocked saluted him before running off towards the arena.
Izuku shook his head as he made his way to the seating area for his class. He sat down next to Ojiro as he heard Present Mic say, "SHE'S A CRAZY MAD SCIENTIST IN THE MAKING, MEI HATSUME!!! HE'S FAST AND SERIOUS, TENYA IIDA!!!"
(It was so hard not to put furious instead of serious)
Midnight declared the match to start. Mei grinned as she shot up into the air using her rocket gloves and boots to avoid the fast boi. "Watch as I evade Sonic Boi's adance using my rocket propeller gloves and boots!"
Izuku laughed as Mei's voice came through the sound system. Of course, she would have hacked into the speakers. Present Mic was less enthusiastic about it though. "YO! HOW'D YOU GET INTO THE SOUND-"
Mei through something small, pink, and round on the ground right as Iida got ready to run back towards the middle to jump up after her. it expanded into a giant glob of pinkish, sticky slime. "As you can see, my slime balls are effective when dealing with runaways!"
"Wow, she didn't even give him a chance." Ojiro muttered to Izuku.
"Well, she is a force to be reckoned with." Izuku mused.
After about a minute of Iida struggling to escape the slime, Midnight declared, "Iida is trapped and unable to battle! Mei Hatsume wins!"
Mei landed on the ground with a pout. "That was easier than I expected. I thought I could at least show off a few more inventions."
Iida gaped at her words as she walked over and poured a small vial of solution onto the goo. "My slime removal liquid makes it easy to get rid of the slime in case any mishaps happen."
Mei walked out of the arena while the slime melted around Iida. The crowd was cheering as Investors were already looking interested. After Iida got out of the slime, he made his way back to is class's spot in the stands. Kaminari and Uraraka both were exiting their waiting rooms to head off to the area. Both hoped that their match wouldn't end like the first two did. No one wanted to be defeated so easily on live television. Uraraka smiled as she met up with Kaminari in the middle of the arena.
"TWO MEMBERS OF CLASS 1-A, THE EVER CHEERFUL OCHACO URARAKA AND THE SHOCKING DENKI KAMINARI!!!"
"Sorry, Uraraka, but I'm going to win." Kaminari got ready to release indiscriminate discharge while Uraraka decided to float up. Apparently, he thought his output would reach her before she floated high enough. He was clearly mistaken.
Uraraka stared down at her now stupefied classmate with slight shock. She was more along the lines sweat dropping at him. Did he really try to shock her when she can float up high? They were classmates! He should know better than that by now! Midnight seemed to feel the same way as she nervously announced that Uraraka won due to a defeated Kaminari. The next contestants met up as Uraraka helped Kaminari to the nurse's office so he could wait it out there till he got back to normal. Todoroki had an impassive face as Aoyama faced the nearest cameras to strike a pose.
"ONCE AGAIN TWO MEMBERS OF 1-A, DEBATALY THE STRONGEST IN HIS CLASS AND A SURVIVOR OF HIS FATHER'S WRATH, SHOTO TODOROKI!!! THE FLASHIEST MEMBER OF HIS CLASS, YUGA AOYAMA!!!"
Todoroki gave a flick with his wrist and a wave of ice went straight towards the flamboyant French boy. Aoyama bent back and let out a laser beam from his belly button to destroy the ice. Todoroki responded by shooting two more waves at him, and Aoyama had to send out a longer beam, causing stomach pains of extreme pain. oh, yeah, that's right. Aoyama has trouble shooting out long periods of his quirk due to pain afterward. Guess he was no match for Todoroki. Aoyama was now hutched on the ground gripping his stomach.
Midnight asked him if he could still battle. Sadly, he couldn't. "Shoto Todoroki wins!"
The next two fighters met up in the ring. Momo was scared because she was up against a rather brazen opponent; Bakugo. He was probably going to put her in the hospital. Why couldn't she have been paired against Tokoyomi or Midoriya? At least then she could count on not possibly dying today! Bakugo gave her a feral grin as she smiled nervously. Yep, she was so going to die here.
"MEMBERS OF CLASS 1-A, THE EVER EXPLOSIVE KATSUKI BAKUGO AND THE CREATIVE MOMO YAOYOROZU!!!"
As soon as the match began, Momo created a shield to block Bakugo's explosions. Bakugo let out a stream of explosions towards her as she backed up. When she was backed up enough to his liking, Bakugo backed up to the other end of the arena and then propelled himself towards her with explosions. His right fist went forward and hit her shield, sending her back a little and straight over the boundary lines of the arena. She didn't even realize she was that close to the edge!
"Momo Yaoyorozu is out of bounds! Katsuki Bakugo wins!" Midnight announced.
Momo was devastated. She knew she had little chance at winning, but did she have to lose so quickly and in such a pathetic manner? She wasn't sure anymore if she was good enough for this profession. If she couldn't last this long in the ring, then what could she do as a hero? They both left the ring and the next two fighters came out. Tokoyomi and Shoda met up in the center. They had been on the same team last round and now they had to fight.
"THE MASTER OF SHADOWS, FUMIKAGE TOKOYOMI!!! A MAN OF HONOR, NIRENGEKI SHODA!!!"
Tokoyomi brought out Dark Shadow and sent him out towards Shoda. He knew he had to keep the class 1-B student away from him. All it would take is one hit to possibly take him out. Shoda's twin impact quirk was not one to be taken lightly. To be able to cause a second and more powerful impact after one hit was an amazing ability to have not something Tokoyomi could afford to let happen. Shoda dodged the shadow and ran forward to try and reach the dark and reclusive Class 1-A student. Tokoyomi made Dark Shadow come back and act as a shield to protect him from any hits from the Class 1-B student. Shoda tried to find a way to hit him without getting hit by Dark Shadow who was currently swiping at him. Sadly, Dark Shadow eventually got him and sent him flying out of bounds.
"Nirengeki Shoda is out of bounds! Fumikage Tokoyomi wins!" Midnight yelled.
As Tokoyomi helped Shoda to the nurse's office, Ojiro and Ashido met in the arena.
"ANOTHER MAN OF HONOR, MASHIRAO OJIRO!!! THE MOST ECCENTRIC AND PERKY BUT PROBABLY DEADLIEST GIRL IN THE SCHOOL, MINA ASHIDO!!!"
Ashido started to skate towards Ojiro on his acid, but Ojiro jumped up using his tail and went over her, grabbing her shoulders in the process. He landed on his feet and threw Ashido across the arena. She went out of bounds.
"Mina Ashido is out of bounds! Mashirao Ojiro wins!" Midnight announced.
Ojiro ran over to help her up and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, Ashido. I didn't throw you too hard, did I?" Ojiro asked.
Ashido groaned as she got onto her feet. "Nah, I'm fine. Nice throw you got there!"
"Do you need to see Recovery Girl?" he asked.
"Nah, I'll live. Let's get back to the stands." Ashido smiled.
They passed Shinso in the halls on their way to the stands and Ojiro yelled to him, "you better win!"
Shinso turned around, walking backward now, to say, "shouldn't you be cheering for your classmate?"
"Maybe, but we both know he's no match for a martial artist!" Ojiro grinned.
"Yeah, yeah. You just want to fight me the next set of rounds. Admit it." Shinso laughed as he turned back around to get to the arena.
Sero grinned while thinking about how easy this match was going to be. He couldn't believe his luck that he got put against the only General Education student in the final rounds. His quirk was probably nothing serious seeing he didn't get into the Hero Course. Yep, this was going to be easy. No way would he lose this match. Shinso looked at his opponent across the area as they both came out with a raised eyebrow. Izuku and Ojiro did warn him that a lot of his class would underestimate him and that he was to use that to his advantage. The look on Sero's face told him everything; Sero definitely thought he was going to win this match. Shinso wasn't going to let that Spiderman wannabe get away with that way of thinking either. Underestimating your opponent could not only get you killed but innocent civilians as well.
With a sigh, Shinso pulled his hands out of his pockets, wielding chain whips, and said, "I wouldn't underestimate someone if I were you. It might just cost you everything."
"Yeah, well, I've pretty much got this match in the bag!" Sero said with a toothy grin.
"Well, can't exactly say I didn't warn you." Shinso sighed.
"HE'S WON FIRST PLACE SO FAR YET HASN'T REVEALED HIS QUIRK, HITOSHI SHINSO!!! A SPIDERMAN IN THE MAKING, HANTA SERO!!!"
"I feel so bad for Sero right now." Izuku laughed.
"I know he's going to lose but why would you feel-" Ojiro suddenly realized Shinso's chain whips. "Wait, he got them approved?! Sero's going to be destroyed down there! Forget an embarrassing defeat! Hitoshi is not a force to be reckoned with when he wields those things!"
"I'm so glad I taught him how to use those! o you think if he gets into the hero course that Sensei would teach him how to use a capture scarf? It seems right up his game!" Izuku said mischievously.
"Oh god, as if giving him with chain whips wasn't bad enough." Ojiro groaned with despair.
The match began and Sero shot tape at Shinso, only for Shinso to roll out of the way. Shinso aimed his right whip at Sero's leg and pulled. Sero fell to the ground and Shinso pulled him forwards and tackled him before he could get up. He then put him in a hold that Izuku taught him, effectively disabling him from any further fighting.
"You're quicker than you look." Sero grunted.
"I don't need my quirk to kick your ass. I can use good old fashioned martial arts and spite." Shinso grinned.
"Hanta Sero is unable to battle, making Hitoshi Shinso the winner!" Midnight yelled.
Shinso got off of the tape boy and walked off with a smirk. He could hear the crowd cheering and his classmates congratulating him. Most of all, he could hear some of the heroes saying he could make a good hero. He couldn't wait till his next match. If his calculations were right. He might have to fight the angry Pomeranian after his match against Ojiro. He knew Bakugo would make it to the third set of rounds and hoped he would beat Ojiro so he could teach that explosive blond a lesson he won't forget.
~~~~With Rojo and Gentle~~~~
Here's Rojo:
They had been patrolling for a while now. La Brava had promised to record the Sports Festival so that they could watch it after their patrol. Rojo and Gentle were in Hosu City, and for the most part, nothing was really happening. Most criminals had opted out of crime today to see what the future heroes had in store for them so they could plan ahead to defeat them if they needed to. However, one villain was not inside. He could care less for a silly festival celebrated by the fake heroes. No, he was out hunting for the fakes. One such fake he had just found; Ingenium. The poor hero had come across the Hero Killer all on his own. No sidekicks with him or anything. They had started fighting, but soon Stain got the upper hand and managed to get some of Ingenium's blood. Ingenium was paralyzed.
Rojo and Gentle were jumping from building to building using his quirk when they came across the scene of Stain about to stab Ingenium in the back. Rojo grabbed her staff and screamed as she jumped down and hit the Hero Killer right on the head.
"YOU LEAVE MR. INGENIUM ALONE, YOU BIG MEANIE!!!" she yelled.
Gentle gave an exasperated sigh before jumping down. "Rojo, be careful."
"BUT, GENTLE!!! HES TRYING TO HURT THE HERO LIKE I WAS HURT BY HIM." Rojo cried.
Stain turned around to face the ex-villain-now-vigilante. "You won't get in the way of my cleansing of this city! I will purge the fakes-"
Gentle touched the swords, turning them into rubber with a sigh. "You are surely not a gentleman."
Rojo turned on the taser function Mei put in her staff and jabbed Stain with it. "Bad Villain! No killing!" she chastised him.
Stain groaned on the ground but didn't get back up.
"Nice to know Einstien made those taser functions strong enough." He sighed with relief. "Rojo, please don't make it a habit to be as careless as Verde gets when handling nutjobs like this guy."
"I defeated the bad guy just like Verde! I want to be like Nee-chan!" Rojo pouted.
"I know, but you got to think before jumping straight into battle! This guy has killed multiple heroes, Rojo. He could have killed you if he deemed you a threat." Gentle explained.
"Oh... sorry, Mr. Gentle. I didn't think of that!" Rojo turned to look at the downed hero. "Are you alright, Hero-san? The big meanie didn't hurt you too badly, did he?"
Ingenium let out a quiet laugh. "Nah, he didn't get me that bad."
"Then why can you get up?" She questioned.
"His quirk seems to paralyze others." Ingenium responded.
"But you're bleeding, Hero-san! Let me heal you!" Rojo fretted.
"There's no use in arguing with her. She's managed to catch Verde's stubbornness. And to think they've only met a few weeks ago." Gentle sighed.
"I wanna help people and nothing's gonna stop me." She defended.
Ingenium laughed, "She's a mini Verde, huh?"
"Shh, I need quiet to heal boo-boos!" She huffed.
Rojo knelt down next to Ingenium and focused her quirk on him to just rewind his body by about ten minutes to make sure he had no injuries. Mei and Izuku helped her figure out how to heal people with her quirk. It wasn't something she was great at yet, but she could manage to rewind up the thirty minutes before she lost control now. It did take a lot of concentration, though. After that, the vigilantes quickly left while Ingenium radioed in what happened.
To be continued...
