Can't get much worse.
Here's a chapter. Yeah! Here's a sad song to ruin the mood. Also, I'm starting a Villain!Mic and Villain!Izuku AU on Tumblr and making the book here on Wattpad. The book will be out sometime next week! I'm going to have so much fun with it! But I will still be working on this book as well. Short chapter because the next chapter will be a continuation of it and I didn't want a 6,000+ word chapter.
It was utter chaos outside UA. Apparently, someone let it out that All Might was a teacher at the school. Who it was, Izuku didn't know, but when he did learn who it was that fucking ruined his morning he would- and the gate just locked down on the vultures- ahem, my bad, media. Izuku was watching the chaos unfold from the classroom window. Glancing back, he saw the majority of the class was crowding Tordoroki's desk, bothering him about what happened with his dad last night. Needless to say, he was not thrilled. Todoroki looked just short of turning the room into a morgue. Ojiro and Tokoyami were sitting in their desk, ignoring the antics of their classmates. Izuku went back to watching out the window. About 2 minutes later he was startled by a sudden voice calling out to him.
"Midoriya." came the steel voice of Todoroki.
"H-huh? Yes, Todoroki?" Izuku stammered as he shrunk into himself.
Todoroki looked straight at him, saying "You're friends with the person who posted the video, right?"
"Well, um, yeah. But, he doesn't really like socializing so he doesn't want people bugging him-"
"He's that purple headed boy you hang out with after school, right?" Todoroki pressed on.
By now, everyone was watching both of them with equal intensity. But before Izuku could answer, Aizawa came in with a rather annoyed look on his face. "Today is the only day I'll excuse you for being late. Now, everyone get in your seats!"
Everyone scrambled to their seats, not wanting to risk expulsion should Aizawa be in the mood to do so.
"Right, now it's time for a major decision in your lives here at UA..." Aizawa drawled.
Everyone started to internally and externally freak out. Well, except for Izuku, who was used to Eraserhead by now and knew he was probably trying to mess with them.
"You're voting for class officers." Aizawa deadpanned.
The whole class, minus Izuku, blue screened. 'I thought it was going to be another test! He didn't have to freak us out!' the majority of them thought in relief and slight annoyance. Then everyone started to declare why they deserved to be Class Representative. Izuku just shook his head and buried it into his arms. Perhaps a nap was in order? Yeah, that sounded-
"Let's do a democratic vote!" Iida yelled.
'Damn it! Is it too much to ask for a decent nap? Is it?!' Izuku thought bitterly as he sighed. He didn't really care about this nonsense anyways. 'Just give the job to Iida or Ojiro and be done with it already! Some of us didn't get our beauty sleep' Izuku thought grumpily. He kept waking up due to the burns he received. Thankfully they weren't that bad, so if anyone saw them, he could easily pass them off as old burns from childhood bullying. (No, he can't. Todoroki would catch that lie in a heartbeat XD)
A few pieces of paper was shoved in his face, followed by a, "Oi, Deku! quit sleeping and vote!"
With a rather loud and rude sigh, Izuku took the pieces of paper, took one for himself, and passed the other two behind him. He then wrote down Ojiro as his choice because as much as Iida would fit the job, he was too much of a rule stickler. Ojiro was friendly and seemed to be getting used to talking to others. Ojiro was also calm and relaxed, unlike the stiff Iida. Seemed like the perfect candidate to him.
Just as he was about to fall asleep, there was shouting.
"Alright?! WHO VOTED FOR THE NERD?!" Bakugo yelled.
"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE, ALL I WANTED WAS SLEEP-huh? who voted for me? You guys do realize I'm anti-social and can't jack shit when it comes to social stuff. I am not a leader." Izuku complained as he saw he got ten votes.
"Well, you're going to have to deal with it-" Ojiro, who got 3 votes, started.
"Can't I just give my job to Yaoyorozu or Ojiro? They both tied for Vice- representative." Izuku yawned. "Besides, I'll just make us look pathetic with my terrible social skills and lack of self-preservation."
"...did you just admit to not caring about your own safety?" Ojiro sighed.
"Mashi, you and I both know I'm a mess." Izuku groaned as he tried to bury his face in his arms once more.
"Alright... all in favor of Ojiro being Class Representative and me being vice Representative?" Yaoyorozu asked.
Seeing the majority of the class said yes, Ojiro and Yaoyorozu got the positions. Now, Izuku could go back to-
"HEY, GUYS!!!! IT'S ENGLISH TIME!!!!!" Present Mic announced as he shoved the door open.
"Right, English class has started. See you guys later." Aizawa announced as he groggily left the room with his sleeping bag.
Izuku sighed as he accepted defeat and sat up to be ready for English with Present Mic. Hopefully, he could get a nap in later. Preferably before heroics class. The whole class was rather slow and boring considering this was the 2nd day of English for them. Shouto spent the whole class subtly watching Izuku because something about him was wrong. He didn't know what it was, but there's a conspiracy there and Shouto will figure it out! (And canon is slowly going out the window but oh well.) Present Mic found himself repeatedly glancing at Izuku and Ojiro. He's only had Shinso as a homeroom student for three days now, and he already feels like it is his duty to help to boy out. Maybe he was just trying to figure out Shinso's friends to better understand how to help him since they were obviously doing a good helping Shinso their-selves. Shinso reminded him of Aizawa so much that it was uncanny. They both shared that 'dead to the world, I don't need anyone' attitude. They had major eye bags and took power naps like no one's business. He wouldn't be surprised if Shinso liked cats as much as Aizawa does. Yes, Shinso was definitely a lot like Aizawa was when he was a kid, and Present Mic was not going to let this kid go on without any support from his teachers. Besides, god knows Aizawa would appreciate someone he could relate to in his class. Yes, Present Mic would try his best to support Shinso's dream of getting into the hero course. (Does this mean I have to add DadMic to the tags?)
~~~~~~Shins's Morning~~~~~~
Shinso has never been gladder to have arrived at school early. Somehow, he managed to get there before the media did, and he was having fun watching the chaos unfold from the class window next to his seat. Shinso had arrived earlier than usual to ask one of his teachers a question he had on an assignment. Due to being there 2 hours before school began, he got to escape the media. His classmates were not as lucky it seemed. he could only imagine how annoyed Izuku was going to be when he arrived. Let it be known that Izuku Midoriya hated the media. He probably hated the media more than Eraserhead does- and isn't that a feat itself. Why Izuku was even considering being a mainstream hero when he was not a people person was beyond him.
Shinso chuckled as he watched a group of 3rd years desperately trying to get past the media. Some people might say Shinso was sadistic- and they were not wrong, but could you blame him for finding humor in other students' suffering? I mean, if they had come earlier, they wouldn't have to deal with the media. As far as Shinso was concerned, this was a learning experience for the hero wannabes. If they couldn't deal with nosy reporters, then how would they ever become the mainstream heroes they wanted to be? Shinso did, however, feel some pity for the non- heroics students. They were here to learn, not deal with the hero bullshit the hero students had brought upon themselves. From what Shinso could gather, which wasn't that hard since he just had to pull up a news channel on his phone, someone had leaked out that All Might was teaching at UA. It was most likely a hero student, so he felt as if he should blame them for this morning's racket. Whoever they were, they're just lucky Shinso has had his two pots of coffee or else there would be hell to pay. He couldn't say the same for Izuku though. Izuku was most definitely going to strangle someone before this week was over.
He saw Izuku trying to get past the media earlier, and by the way he was speed walking, Shinso just knew Izuku was pissed. Izuku hates socializing, so of course, having microphones shoved in his face is going to make him mad. Shinso would have to ask him how he felt later at lunch. For now, Shinso would enjoy watching the others suffer.
It was right about then that Present Mic, his homeroom teacher, walked into the room; only to double-take at Shinso chuckling while he watched the media fiasco that was going on.
"Good morning, Shinso." Present Mic declared.
Shinso glanced back at Present Mic to say "Morning, Sensei." before returning his attention to the disaster down below. "Lovely day, huh?" Shinso mused.
'Oh god. He sounded like Aizawa there for a moment' Present Mic thought.
"Nothing lovely about being bomb boarded by the press." Present Mic responded as he moved to his desk with the papers in his arms.
Shinso laughed, "Well, I got here before they did, so it's a lovely day for me. Besides, it's some hero courses student's fault for telling the media All Might teaches here in the first place. If they hadn't leaked that info, then the media wouldn't be here." Shinso then grinned, as he added on, " Also, it's kind of fun to watch other students squirm as they try to avoid the press."
Present Mic sweat-dropped at Shinso's sadistic side showing, before putting down the papers and sighing. "Well, at least one of us is enjoying this nightmare."
Shinso just laughed, before replying, "I know I am. My friend, however, is probably contemplating the murder of whoever leaked the info to the media. He absolutely hates social interaction, and I fear for whoever thought it was a bright idea to let it out that All might teaches here. I'd be surprised if he doesn't just jump out a window by the end of the day if things get much worse. Oh shit, he might actually try to do that!"
Shinso pulled out his phone to text Ojiro to not let Izuku jump out any windows. Ojiro replies he won't.
"You talking about class 1-A's resident problem child?" Present Mic inquired.
"Oh shit, what did he do this time?" Shinso sighed.
"Nothing, he did nothing. It's just that his homeroom teacher thinks the kid might be a handful seeing he's already ahead of the others in a way. And the kid seems to be rather invested and determined to avoid talking to his classmates." Present Mic reassured.
"Yeah, Izuku can get ahead of himself. I mean, he does have to try harder since he wasn't born with a physical power, but it's like he tries too hard. I'd say I feel sorry for his teachers, but I really don't feel sorry at all. Izuku learned at a young age that quirks are not everything if the enemy knows how to overcome them. He hates it when others think all they need is a flashy quirk to be a hero. Why he wants to be a mainstream hero is beyond me, but I guess he's doing it to prove power doesn't mean anything in the hero world." Shinso remarked.
"Well then, how about you, Listener? You obviously don't want to be in Gen Ed. I've seen your scores on the exam. What kind of hero do you want to be?" Present Mic asked.
Shinso sighed as he turned to face Present Mic before he hesitantly replied, "I've always wanted to be a hero, but I can't do people. Izuku pointed out to me one day that my quirk would work perfectly for Underground Heroics, and it got me thinking. I kind of like the idea of working in the shadows and dealing with the lesser-known but more dangerous evil. Sure, it wouldn't help my case on trying to prove someone with a villain's quirk can be a hero, but Underground Heroics just seems so, I don't know, alluring. Besides, Underground heroes like to work at night, and I don't really sleep anyways, so I've already got that one in the bag! A lot of people dismiss the underground heroes as weaklings or not as important. But in reality, they deal with the monsters that normal heroes can't deal with without blowing their cover due to the media. I want to be like that. Fighting the monsters others won't. Defending the areas most heroes don't bother to protect due to lack of flashy villains or media attention. I want to help the forgotten, even if it gets me no praise. I guess kind of want to be like Eraserhead in a way. He's always fighting evil and helping others, and he never gets the praise he deserves. He used to patrol my area a while back before Verde showed up. You know, he as one of the only heroes out there protecting the area I live in? He kept on defending us when no one else wanted to. It was nice to know that not every hero cares about the media or the spotlight. To know that someone was willing to help despite knowing they wouldn't get any attention for it. We have other heroes patrolling nowadays out there, but honestly, I don't think they would be out there if it wasn't for Eraserhead."
" I think you'd make a great Underground Hero, Listener. You've already got the heart and determination to do so. Just don't let your hopes falter and do your best in the Sports Festival. Besides, I want bragging rights for being the homeroom teacher of one of the few Gen ED students in history to transfer over to Heroics." Present Mic praised.
"I don't think I'll get first place, I mean come on! Just look at that Todoroki guy! but I'm aiming for at least 3rd place." Shinso faltered.
"Listener, you better get at least 3rd place! I want to see the looks on their faces when my student beats the other students!" Present Mic beamed as he got off of his desk.
"Only if you send me a video of the chaos that unfolds from you bragging about me winning." Shinso smirked. "Also, please don't announce my quirk before I use it. I kind of want a chance at winning without having my trump card revealed. I'm aiming to save my quirk for the last rounds if I can get that far. Izuku suggested I don't reveal everything in the first two rounds. Besides, since I'm Gen ED, I can use support gear, so I'm learning how to use this chain-like whip weapon that acts like a capture device. They're also great for hitting people, but I mainly like how they wrap around the target after latching to them. "
" You might want to ask for a capture weapon like Eraser's if you get into the heroic's course." Present Mic suggested.
"I kind of was aiming for something like that." Shinso admitted.
~~~~~~Lunch Time~~~~~~
Ojiro and Izuku sat down at Shinso's table, one bright and cheerful and the other dead inside.
"You okay, Izuku?" Shinso chuckled.
"Someone's going to die today." Izuku deadpanned.
"God, Zuku! Stop being dramatic." Ojiro scoffed.
Shinso laughed, "You're upset about the media, huh?"
"Try pissed. I hate social interaction. You try having a camera shoved in your face!" Izuku fumed.
"They're still at it it seems." Shinso noted while glancing towards one of the cafeteria's windows to see the media trying to get in..
"As long as they stay off-campus, I'm fine!" Izuku seethed.
"How much sleep did you get, exactly?" Ojiro questioned.
"Not enough." Izuku grumbled.
"God is that a mood." Shinso groaned.
"Can you guys try to be cheerful for once?" Ojiro pleaded.
"Nope." Izuku interjected.
"No can do." Shinso smirked.
"You guys are going to be the death of me." Ojiro complained.
"You could just give in and join us." Izuku suggested.
"Yeah, join us Mashi! We got coffee!" Shinso joked.
"Hmm, coffee. Tempting. But I like being alive and cheerful, thank you very much." Ojiro responded.
"Rude." Izuku squawked.
"I quite like the sadistic life, thank you very much." Shinso remarked.
An alarm goes off, causing Shinso and Izuku to both cover their ears in annoyance.
"That's it, I'm going to strangle someone." Izuku growled.
"Damn, the media got in! Someone should tell everyone it's just the media. They're all acting as if we're going to die." Izuku proclaimed.
"By someone, you mean you. I'm not doing it." Shinso deadpanned.
"Well, fuck. I'm not doing it." Izuku gripped.
"Ugh, fine. I'll do it!" Ojiro responded with frustration.
"Good luck, Mashi." Izuku joked.
Ojiro shook his head at his friends' antics and headed off to the cafe. Meanwhile, Shinso and Izuku headed outside to try to scare the media off.
Ojiro managed to get into the air with Uraraka's help and told everyone to calm down because it was just the media. Thankfully, they listened to Ojiro. Meanwhile, our two resident insomniacs had made it outside and near their homeroom teachers who were trying to deal with the media.
You do realize trespassing is a crime right? You guys are interrupting our learning time and causing mass panic. Are you trying to cause trouble?" Shinso deadpanned with his hands in his pockets. he had an air to him that seemed to radiate that he wasn't someone to mess with.
"Yeah, we don't care if you want your story on All Might. This is a school and no place for media fiascoes. If you really want to know about All Might, then call his agency. You know, like proper protocol calls for. You better hope you not getting sued." Izuku continued.
The whole media blue screened at the two kids telling them off.
"Um, let's go..."
'Yeah..."
"I'm not getting sued."
"I can hear sirens... I'm not dealing with the police!"
And just like that, they all rushed out of there.
"Did you have to stare at them like you were going to possess them?" Izuku asked Shinso.
"No, I didn't have to. But it worked, huh?" Shinso smirked.
"Yep, definitely not mainstream material." Izuku mumbled.
"Like you are?" Shinso scoffed.
""Thanks for the help boys, but shouldn't you be evacuating like the others?" Present Mic pipped in.
"Yeah, but we saw the media and decided that enough was enough. Besides, Mashi-"
"He means Ojiro." Shinso interrupted.
"-Ojiro is calming everyone down by informing them of it being just media." Izuku continued while glaring at Shinso.
"God if this is how they react to a possible villain attack, then god forbid a real one happens." Shinso scoffed.
"We'll all die." Izuku deadpanned.
"Stop being morbid." Shinso sighed.
"It's the truth. No one bothered to evaluate the situation. If they did, they might have realized there was nothing wrong. besides, If it was a villain, I'm pretty sure screaming and pushing are not going to help." Izuku argued.
"You two should go back to class." Aizawa deadpanned.
"Oh, speaking of class, Todoroki knows it's you who posted the video and he seems to be looking for you." Izuku said as he and Shinso headed inside.
"Great. Just what I needed." Shinso groaned.
~~~~With Present Mic and Eraserhead~~~~
"Shinso reminds me of you." Present Mic said as they watched the boys go back inside.
"He does, huh?" Aizawa inquired.
"He's got that same 'take shit from no one' attitude as you. And he seems to have the same goals in mind as you. And how he just acted now? Dear lord is he a younger version of you!" Present Mic explained. "And Midoriya... it's like looking at a ghost. he's so much like..."
"I've noticed. He's got the same headstrong attitude as him as well. Kid's already giving me grey hairs just thinking about how reckless he'll be. I just hope I can tame that recklessness before something happens like what happened to Oboro." Aizawa sighed.
~~~~Next Day (USJ)~~~~
Izuku was trying to get some sleep in on the bus ride to the USJ. He skipped last night's patrol in order to get some sleep, but unfortunately, he kept waking up to the feeling of upcoming danger. He just knew something was wrong, but what? Izuku would have to figure it out later, he supposed. For now, he'd catch some sleep. Eventually, they got there and Izuku wasn't allowed to sleep anymore. (Poor Izuku.) They all got off the bus and headed inside. Thirteen explained where they were and started to talk about safety. Izuku felt as if something was wrong. Something was off. And his concerns were answered when a portal opened inside USJ.
"Hey, alright! Fake villains!" Kirishima said.
"Uh... I d-don't think those are fake." Izuku stuttered.
Eraserhead told everyone to stay back and escape with Thirteen.
'Like hell I'll just stand by while my classmates are in trouble!' Izuku thought.
"Where is he? I went through the trouble of bringing this whole crowd, to All Might The symbol of Peace, and he's not here? I wonder if he'll come if we kill some kids?"
Izuku was not going to give up without a fight. He may not be Verde right now, but that didn't mean he was going to stay down.
To be continued...
Sorry if the ending seemed rushed. And sorry for a shorter chapter. The next chapter should carry off where this one ended. Also, I wasn't planning on Dadmic but it looks like he appeared anyways?
