Okay so, Idk if you guys know but I'm a department manager at a grocery store. I've been working there for almost a year and a half now. And we just got a new boss about six months ago? Yeah cause the old one got a new store in California. But anyways, minimum wage in my state right now (as of July 1st) is 12 dollars an hour. Well I just got off the phone with my boss and she gave me a raise. So now I'm getting paid 13. 25 an hour. Which is amazing. I feel like I've been working my ass off for a long time to get this. And I was planning on quitting soon because I felt like they didn't appreciate me with all the hard work that I do because I can work every department without help. And I know how to do a lot of things that others didn't know how to do. But now I'm not cause that raise proves that they appreciate me. I'm sorry if that sounds greedy or selfish but I work 40 hours a week ith some overtime, 5 days a week. I have to do my department, on top of cashiering & helping other departments cause we are short staffed, something others don't fucking do. So I've earned this raise in my opinion.
