I'm reading the Anne Frank stageplay in English, and everyone is forgetting who they're acting and being so monotone

I'm Peter-

One of the first characters introduced, but it's been 3 pages and I don't have a line- I'm reading ahead and all I do is talk very concisely about my cat

And the teacher- she was doing a name wheel to do roles, and every guy character had a guy student, and vice versa. The first person to get a different gendered character was given the chance to choose if he wanted to act as her, or be a male character
