Chapter III.

The crowd of jocks and random girls pushes through the door while I stand there in frustration.
This is not my ideal way to spend the night.

I slam the door shut after people stop streaming in and walk hastily to Michelle's room. She has a lot of explaining to do.

"What the hell?" I scream at her even before locking the door.

"I can explain," she backtracks while raising her hands as if in defeat.

"You have one minute," I fold my hands on my chest and tap my foot on the floor impatiently.

"Look, Lexa you've been shutting yourself away from the world. You spend so much time alone and all those months that you spend crying and being depressed changed you." she pauses waiting for me to cut in or give her approval to continue.

"You know why things changed and you can't blame me for it. I hate being the way I am but that's the only way I feel safe. Locked away from the world." I finish and wait for her to continue arguing her case.

"I don't want you turning into a prude in the name of protecting yourself. You used to be so much fun and it hurts me to see you this way." she walks towards me and rubs her hand on my back.

"Please let's just have fun tonight. I did this for you, to remind you that there is more to life. You don't have to keep hiding and feeling sorry for yourself," she looks at me with pleading eyes.

"Okay...but just for tonight. If you do something like this again I'll leave." I warn her but I feel the corners of my mouth stretch into a smile because of the way her face lights up.

She squeals and pulls me into a bone-crushing hug while mumbling stuff about how much she loves. I hug her back just as tightly and tell her that I love her as well.

"So what do we do now? And what about your Gramms?" I ask while pulling away from the hug.

"Right now we just need to have fun! As for Gramms, she's not coming back till Wednesday." She explains excitedly and pushes me towards the door.

Getting out of her room I see a couple of people who are already drunk struggling to walk down the steps. We walk at their pace and get to the living room where it's a little bit crowded.

"You know all these people?" I struggle to talk over the loud music.

"Well, no.. I don't even think I know half of them but it's a party, what the hell do I care?" Michelle giggles and I just shrug my shoulders.

"Michelle!" Two girls shout her name and we walk towards them. I recognise them from Michelle's class. Amelia and Seraya.

"Hey! Thought you bitches couldn't make it." Michelle puts her hands on her waist playfully faking a serious face.

"How could we miss a party at your house?" Seraya asks rolling her big eyes.

"Let's go sit with the fun guys!" Amelia suggests pulling Seraya and Michelle gives me slight nod.

"Go with them. I'll get the booze." She walks to the kitchen and I follow the two inseparable bitches.

"Guys, this is Lexa, Michelle's friend." Amelia introduces me to people sitting in a small circle.

"Hey," I wave uncomfortably and they all smile at me.

They make room for me to sit between Seraya and the familiar blonde guy who said hi to me at the door.

"This is Austin, Blake, Nicole, Jason, Ronnie, of course Amelia and yours truly," Seraya points at everyone while introducing them.

So Austin is blondie's name, nice. I still don't know where I've seen him from.

"So, Austin, do I see you around school?" I try to keep a conversation going since he's seated next to me.

"Yeah, we have Communication together, on Mondays." He smiles at me even though I know he must be offended by my level of ignorance.

"Oh.." that's all I manage to say.

Michelle comes back and I make room for her between me Austin. She has a whole bottle of vodka in her hands. I cringe my nose feeling uncomfortable about drinking. I hadn't had any alcohol since the incident.

"You don't have to drink," she whispers and gives me an understanding look.

"Thanks," I smile at her.

"So.. We can't just sit around and do nothing guys. Let's play a game." Jason suggests.

"Yeah, what's the fun in a party if we don't play drinking games?" Michelle supports the idea. I shift uncomfortably as everyone's cup is filled.

My cup is filled but I know I won't even take a sip of it. I'll just pretend to drink the whole time.
