EPILOGUE ── venomous

Vivienne turned to her husband as he drove, a question in her eyes.

"Do you think they'll freak out?" she asked, and he chuckled in response.

"No, they won't," he assured her confidently.

"Have you forgotten how Amun reacted?" Vivienne queried, a hint of whining in her voice. As they stopped at a traffic light, Benjamin glanced over at her.

"Amun is just Amun," he responded, his words deliberate as if trying to find the right words to express his thoughts.

"Exactly," Vivienne agreed. "He's devoid of happiness and the ability to smile." She joked, raising her hand dramatically, which prompted Benjamin to roll his eyes jokingly.

Benjamin continued, adding, "And let's not forget his inability to laugh." This made them both chuckle quietly.

Vivienne cast a glance towards the backseat where their adopted children sat, twins. During their travels around the world, they had come across the siblings when the twins were only ten years old, living destitute on the streets.

Initially, they had planned to simply find a temporary housing solution for the children, but a profound realization soon dawned on them—the twins possessed exceptional gifts. This was the means by which they had managed to survive on the streets.

Willow possessed the ability to compel, with her voice able to influence others for brief moments. However, her powers wouldn't fully manifest until she became an immortal. Her brother, Salem, on the other hand, was a telepath, capable of communicating through thoughts.

Benjamin and Vivienne stood by, observing from a distance, knowing that revealing themselves to the children was not an option. They watched over the children, but unfortunately, the twins were exposed to vampires who sought to prey upon them, and they narrowly escaped death, both still only seventeen years old.

Predictably, Vivienne turned the children into vampires, and they grew to love and look up to their new parents immensely. As predicted, both Willow and Salem possessed remarkable gifts as vampires, and they quickly formed a close-knit family.

Salem preferred to feed only on blood bags, while Willow exclusively fed on animal blood as she detested the taste of human blood. The process of training them was quite straightforward, and despite it taking approximately ten years for them to safely interact with humans, the results were undeniably worthwhile.

The first family trip unsurprisingly involved visiting their respective family members. Amun did, in fact, pose a significant challenge to Benjamin's decision to leave the coven, but they eventually managed to resolve their disagreements. Amun and Vivienne had a complex relationship marked by a mix of affection and tension, which often led to clashes whenever they paid a visit.

Vivienne relished the opportunity to bring her children along during visits, making them intentionally address Amun with the term "Grandpa" just to vex him. Despite his initial feigned annoyance, Amun gradually warmed up to Willow and Salem, much to the amusement of Vivienne.

The family had arrived in Forks, Washington, as Renesmee and Jacob resided in the Cullen mansion, which served as a central gathering spot for the family during special occasions. This particular day marked Renesmee's birthday, prompting the entire family to convene for the celebration, joined by the Denali clan.

Willow glanced up from her phone, having noticed the way her mother was looking at her. She had a male friend whom she strongly liked, and it was quite apparent that they were destined mates, but neither one had taken the first step, leading to their communication being limited to texting. Willow's nose scrunched up as they arrived at the Cullen residence, causing her to ask, "Why does it smell like wet dog?"

"It's because Jacob keeps phasing to match Renesmee's age so they can stay together," Salem patiently explained to his sister once more. He was the studious one who paid attention, while Willow only listened when the topic caught her interest.

"Oh, right. The smell won't linger, will it?" Willow inquired, prompting her parents to chuckle.

Vivienne quipped, "Not unless you give them a hug." She added sternly, "Now put that phone away. If I catch you on it when we're around the family, I'll have your dad burn it."

"No way!" Willow protested, clinging protectively to her phone. "You forced him to burn the last one!"

Vivienne extended her hand to the backseat, demanding, "Then give it to me, and it'll be secure and sound. Ramone can surely survive a few hours without a text."

Willow reluctantly handed over her phone, protesting, "I—I wasn't texting Ramone!"

"You were totally texting him," Salem chimed in, his grin widening on his face. He mimicked a higher voice, teasing his sister.

"I'll see you in a few weeks, so don't miss me too much."

"Oh my god, Salem!" Willow exclaimed, shoving her brother in frustration. "What did I say about reading my texts?!"

Salem couldn't help but burst into laughter, clearly enjoying himself.

Benjamin let out a chuckle and stepped out of the car. "Alright, stop bickering in the car," he said firmly. "It's a rental." Vivienne followed, adding her own scolding.

"It's time you officially meet my family," Vivienne told them, directing her comment specifically toward Willow. "Behave yourselves," she added sternly.

"Hey! What about Sal?" Willow protested defiantly.

Benjamin chuckled, coming to Salem's defense. "Salem is the more well-behaved one between the two of you," he stated confidently.

Willow pouted and rolled her eyes. "It was just one time—"

Benjamin, Vivienne, and even Salem spoke in unison, interjecting with a collective, "Three times."

Willow groaned in frustration, then relented, "Fine, I'll be on my best behavior."

"Now that's what I like to hear," Vivienne replied, leading her family towards the impressive home.

Salem couldn't help but comment enviously, "Why can't we have a house as grand as this one?"

"That's because the way you two constantly bicker would inevitably lead to the house being trashed," Vivienne responded wryly. She entered the house and was instantly engulfed in a tight embrace by Renesmee.

"That's definitely a case of like father, like daughter!" Vivienne laughed as she warmly returned the hug from her now grown-up niece.

"Finally! You're here," Renesmee exclaimed with a smile. She glanced up, curious, "Who are they?" She asked politely.

Benjamin chuckled, introducing them proudly. "These are Willow and Salem, our children."

The siblings waved in unison, with Salem genuinely smiling and Willow maintaining a neutral, disinterested expression.

Benjamin introduced the children to Renesmee," This is your cousin, Renesmee."

"Happy Birthday," Salem chimed in, followed by Willow's muttered greeting. Despite Willow's apathetic demeanor, Renesmee chuckled, recognizing that progress was being made. It was better than the usual scowling behavior they were used to seeing from her.

"Are any of the others here yet?" Vivienne inquired.

Renesmee nodded, replying, "So far, only Grandpa and Grandma are here. The others will be here soon, though."

Vivienne asked further, "And what about Jacob?"

"He's with the pack at the moment," Renesmee informed her. "But they'll all be coming here shortly."

"Let's go meet your grandparents," Vivienne said half-jokingly, though her children interpreted it seriously.

Willowa whined, following her mother, "I thought you said they were nice!" Vivienne simply hummed in response, prompting Willow's frustrated groan

Vivienne opened the door to the kitchen and called out, "Carlisle! Esme!" The couple looked up from their conversation, and the warm smiles on their faces only grew wider upon seeing Vivienne.

Vivienne felt a pang of guilt for making her children fear her parents, but she couldn't help but find amusement in their reactions as they realized her deception. Her family had always been welcoming towards her children, and everyone got along splendidly, creating a warm and positive atmosphere.

Salem experienced an unexpected surprise when Leah Clearwater, a shifter, imprinted on him. She was one of the original pack members who still phased along with Jacob, while the others had moved on with their lives with their respective imprints.

Leah seemed genuinely surprised at first, but Salem quickly warmed up to the idea. However, it meant that he would be remaining in Forks, which Benjamin and Vivienne understood and accepted. While Willow initially struggled with the idea, given the significance of the imprinting, she eventually came to terms with it.

Once Salem became an imprint, he made the decision to become a vegetarian. He recognized it as the right choice, considering he would be spending more time with the packs. He didn't want to alarm Leah, even though she had assured him that it didn't bother her.

Willow was continuing to be stubborn about her relationship with her mate, Ramone. However, it appeared that he was enjoying their interactions regardless. Eventually, Willow ended up joining the coven he was a part of.

In time, Vivienne and Benjamin found themselves back to their regular lives, but they were content knowing that their children had made choices that would bring them happiness. With eternity stretching ahead, they understood that it was merely a matter of "see you later" rather than "goodbye" for their family.

"We are happy, and our kids are happy," Vivienne remarked, gazing at him.

Benjamin smiled back, his voice brimming with contentment, "Always will be. Having you and them, now I truly comprehend the meaning of Eternal Happiness." He caressed her cheek, his tone filled with love as he confessed, "I love you so much, Vivienne. I thank you for the endless joy that I know shall never fade."

She leaned in, their lips meeting in a tender connection, before she pulled away. "I love you so much as well, Benjamin," Vivienne whispered, the love in her eyes clear as day. "I thank you for sharing this boundless joy with me," she confessed, her voice filled with heartfelt gratitude.

Benjamin chuckled softly as their lips met once more, sealing their affection. Their love was an eternal bond, destined to last forever. They were content in the knowledge that this unending love was all they had ever wished for, and grateful that it had been so readily bestowed upon them.
