06 - Good Girl

SONG REC: "I'LL BE YOUR MAN" - BTOB

Changbin entered the practice room with an easy smile. "Hey!" he said cheerfully. "How are you?"

"If I'm being honest, horrible."

He winced. "Yeah, I was watching the camera with Seungmin. I can see why." He flexed both of his arms. "But with me, the great Seo Changbin, you'll only be happy!"

She bursted out laughing from his silliness. "Wonderful."

He clapped his hands together. "So I heard about what you needed help on, and although I'm not as good as that show-off Hyunjin, I'm one of Stray Kids' main killers. You'll be even better than me in no time. I can just tell."

She smiled. He was so much happier and brighter than Lee Know. It was refreshing. "Thank you."

"Now, can you show me how you fight with a knife?" Changbin got the remote Lee Know left before, and set up the five robots.

"I have to say, though, please don't have high, or any, expectations for me because Lee Know sure had a lot to say."

He waved that off. "Minho may seem mean and strict – which he is, yeah – but everybody can improve, and Lee Know sees that the most. He's a good teacher."

"Good, my ass," she grumbled. "All I got was a lower self-esteem and smaller ego."

"Well, prove him wrong." Changbin handed her a knife and pressed a button.

The robots charged, but she had a plan already.

Using every single one of Lee Know's critics, she sliced, stabbed, and threw her weight forward with her whole body while keeping herself light on her feet. All five robots came crashing onto the floor in under five minutes.

She breathed hard, and saw Changbin had an awed expression on his face.

"This...this is your third time fighting against the robots?"

"Yup."

"Oh my shit," he exclaimed with bright eyes. "You – you're fucking amazing!"

She beamed. "I am?"

"Yeah, you are! Even on my tenth fight against the robots, I remember being nearly torn apart by the robots. To be fair," he glanced at her figure, "you're taller than me. So you have an advantage."

She stuck her tongue out of him. "Height has nothing to do with skill."

"Now, whose ego is big?" Changbin was smiling proudly, though. "Seungmin!' he shouted, looking at the camera. "Tell Minho to get his angsty ass in here!"

She snorted and wiped at her sweat. She assumed she would have to fight the robots again, in front of Lee Know.

She was right. When Lee Know came in, the five robots were already in place. Changbin excitedly hopped over to him.

"Minho, you wouldn't believe it, it took her under five minutes to take them all down!"

Lee Know pursed his lips. "I'll see for myself." He pressed the start button.

Again, the robots charged. She squared her shoulders and ran at them. Before Lee Know could count to sixty, all of the robots were on fire, on the ground and burning. Yun stomped on them, putting the fires out.

He realized that the crazy woman had fixed every detail he had criticized, even the ones he thought she didn't pay attention to.

"Anything else to improve?" She smirked smugly.

He shook his head in disbelief. "Good girl."

Her heart leapt. "W-what?" Changbin looked just as shocked as she was, except he was rubbing his hands together suspiciously and winking at the cameras.

Lee Know tilted his head slightly. "Do I have to repeat myself?"

"N-no..."

He turned around to leave, and when the door shut, Changbin began squealing. She could see how he earned the nickname, Dwaekki, or Pig-Rabbit.

"Yun~," he drawled on, "that was freaking intense."

"Intense?"

"I mean if you want me to the describe the type of tension I'm getting from you two–"

She smacked his head. "There's nothing between us except frustration. Trust me, there's nothing here."

"You said 'there's nothing' twice. I think you're lying."

"Changbin, please shut up." She could feel herself heating up, but she trusted herself not to blush.

"But look at you two–!"

She walked forward and flipped him onto his back, planting a foot on his chest. "Unless you wanna eat some of my shoes, I suggest you shut up."

There was a moment of silence before Changbin bursted out laughing. "You're good, Yun. You're good."

It had been a week and a half of strict teaching with Lee Know. She learned fast, and acknowledged that he found the most flaws and mistakes. So they worked together on her training. She had learned how to kill using any weapon and no weapon at all. She also learned how to accept criticism.

That afternoon, Lee Know came over to her room.

"Hey." He stood there, leaning against the door frame.

"Hey. Come over here." She patted the space beside her on the bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed, far away from her. "So what's up?"

"I think you're ready for a real mission."

She sat up straighter. "Seriously?"

"Yes. You're going to rob a base with Changbin discreetly. No fighting involved if possible."

She ignored the twinge of disappointment. "I can do that. When do we start?"

"Tonight."

"Tonight?"

"Do I–"

"–need to repeat myself?" she said mockingly. "No. I'll go get ready with Changbin right now."

"I'll go over the plan before you leave. For now," he glanced at her door, "just think about everything I've crammed into your brain." He left.

She sat on her bed, shaking with adrenaline already. Her first, real, genuine mission. Although it contained no fighting, she was still excited.

But she would impress everybody here someday – in future, more difficult missions. Including Lee Know.

Lee Know finally finished pointing at the map on his wall. "And that's the plan. Changbin, Yun, you two got it?"

They both nodded.

"Good," Lee Know said. "Because I won't go through it a second time." He motioned for them to get up. "Now, leave."

Changbin and Yun quickly got outside his room and looked at each other.

"Did you memorize the plan?" Changbin asked her.

"No. Did you?"

"No."

Lee Know shouted from inside his office, "Get your asses back in here!"

Changbin and Yun looked at each other with wide eyes.

Lee Know raised his voice. "Now, before I decide to send you on a mission with only your wits."

The two sighed and went back in. It would be a long night.

Changbin parked the car in the bushy, hidden area next to the base. According to Lee Know, this base had sent threats to Stray Kids, demanding money.

So he did the rational thing. He sent two members of his team to show this measly gang what he could do to them before they even realized what hit them. Yun swelled with pride, knowing that Lee Know trusted her and Changbin to rob everything alone.

Yun checked her watch. "Everybody should be gone by now."

Changbin nodded, and the two crept behind the back of the base, where they knew that the gang's bank was. Changbin got out two drills and handed one to Yun.

They began to make a large rectangle by starting at the top and meeting at the bottom. It was louder than they wanted it to be, but nobody was here anyway.

The rectangle was completed. The piece of metal fell onto the ground with a dull thud and Changbin peeked inside the bank. He turned to grin at Yun.

"You ready for some real riches?"

"I always am."
