NINE;
It was now around 11:00 at night and Hawke still hadn't come home. Rhett put his jacket on and stepped out the door, as soon as his feet hit the porch he saw the silhouette of the male on the porch.
He flipped the outside light on and Hawke never turned to him. "How long have you been out here?" Rhett asked worriedly.
The male wipped his eyes, "I- I don't know."
Rhett walked over to him, he pulled him into a hug. "Shit babe, you're cold," he says leading Hawke into the house. He sat the male down on the chair by the fireplace and refilled the area with logs. He lit a match and stood back, tossing it into the fireplace. The fire grew slowly. His attention went back to Hawke, he pulled the ottoman in front of him and sat down on it.
"Talk to me," Rhett said.
"I'm terrified..." Hawke mumbled, tearing up.
Rhett grabbed the male's hands, letting him speak.
Hawke met Rhett's eyes, "I can never remove it around him, he makes me too happy," he said beginning to sob.
"I know," Rhett whispered. "But, you're strong. He trusts you, we all do."
"It's easy for you to say... your eyes shield you from it... It pains me because I can't assure him that I'm not... not just this machine."
The snake hybrid rubbed his hands through the crying male's hair.
"If I hurt him, I wouldn't be able to live with myself."
Dawn was now clinging onto Eden, like a kola, his face pressed into the male's neck, enjoying the natural scent. "Miss you."
"I know, baby, I know."
After Rhett finally managed to calm the male down, they decided to go to bed. Rhett having to go to work early the next morning.
Hawke's back was to him, Rhett's broad arms wrapped securely around him.
"Would you like me to stay home tomorrow?"
Hawke shook his head. "I don't want you getting in trouble for me again."
Rhett sat up on his right elbow and turned Hawke slightly by his shoulder. "If I get in trouble I'll get in trouble," he hissed.
Hawke immediately turned to him and glared at him.
Rhett chuckled.
"Nah," Hawke said and scooted to the other side of the bed.
Rhett pulled Hawke back to him by his waist. "Don't be like that," he said, his fingers trailing up and down Hawke's sides.
The gorgon male shivered, "Stop, damn creepy ass," he laughed.
Rhett raised a brow and stuck his long tongue out, flicking it back in forth making a hiss sound.
Hawke rolled his eyes and mocked his tongue flick.
"You look like a lizard."
"Gee thanks..." Hawke huffed.
"A sexy lizard," Rhett bit his lip.
"Oh no, I'm not dealing with that tonight," Hawke said getting up out of the bed.
Rhett rose from the bed and tackled the male to the floor.
"Ow, what the fuck?"
The next morning, Rhett had already left. Hawke rose from the bed and yawned. He made the bed and walked out the room. Noticing that Rhett had made some breakfast before he left. Hawke smiled, sat down at the table and ate. Wondering what he could do today.
Dawn had stayed attached to Eden the whole night, making the male carry him everywhere. Which Eden didn't mind, Dawn was tiny enough, so Eden didn't struggle carrying the elf.
Hawke stared out the window wanting to go visit the two males. He cleaned the kitchen and decided to get dressed. The last addition to his look was of course, the black mask. He put it on, stepping out the front door and locking it behind him. Deciding to go to the park where he once found the lost elf, there truly wasn't anything else to do. Arriving at the abandoned park, he took a seat on one of the swings.
"Edie, m' bored." Dawn pouted, turning over in Eden's lap, facing the male.
"You wanna do something?" Eden said, brushing his fingers through the male's hair.
"S - S - Swings!" Dawn said, getting up and rushing to the door, placing his shoes on poorly to get out the door.
Eden shook his head, "I don't even get a say in this decision do I?"
"Hurry up, we gonna mi - miss the bus th - there!" Dawn said, running back over and pulling Eden up and dragging him out the door.
Hawke stood up out of the swings and decided to climb up into his favorite tree. Sometimes deer would make their way through the park, rabbits if he was lucky.
He situated himself in it and laid his back against the tree. Feeling a little tired after yesterday, he decided to take a cat nap.
Dawn got off the bus and rushed to the swings, happily skipping, playful giggles left his mouth as he did so, Eden jogging up behind the small elf.
"Dawnie, baby, wait for me."
"Wan' s - s - s - swing!"
Surprisingly Hawke didn't hear the voices coming straight towards him.
A cry filled the small park, Dawn tripped, landing on his knees. Eden quickly rushed over, seeing the pealed skin and peaks of blood coming through. Dawn let out soft sniffles, "H - hurts." Eden looked around, Dawn was gonna want a bandaid, but Eden didn't have any.
Hawke certainly heard the cries in pain. Startled, his dumb self almost fell out the tree. His eyes adjusted on the situation and he immediately dropped down from the tree.
"What happened?" He asked worriedly. His eyes scanning his little scraped knees.
"F - F - Fell." Dawn said, looking at his knee, "Don't f - f - feel good."
Hawke looked at Eden, "My house isn't far from here, I'm sure I have bandages," he lifted the little elf to his feet.
He hoisted Dawn up into his arms, knowing that the bushes in the woods near the cabin were low and didn't want Dawn getting scrapped by thorns.
He walked with Dawn securely in his arms, Eden following closely behind. Reaching the area there was a small cabin, Rhett's truck that Eden recognized was on the far right.
Hawke set the little elf down so he could unlock the door. He flipped on the light and shut the door after everyone was inside. He disappeared down the hall and came back with a box of bandages and stuff like that.
"Thank you," Eden said, holding Dawn into his chest.
Hawke sat down Indian style in front of Dawn, grabbing the antiseptic spray and some bandages. He looked up at Dawn, "This might hurt, I'll try to make it quick."
Dawn nodded his head, closing his eyes, so he wouldn't watch what was going on.
He sprayed the antiseptic onto the wounds, gaining a whimper from Dawn. He cleaned the wounds and began bandaging his knees.
"I'm sorry Dawn, I'm all done..." he whispered putting the last bandaid on.
Dawn opened his arms, wanting a hug.
Hawke immediately pulled him into his chest, mumbling another apology for hurting him. He rubbed the small male's back, consoling him.
"You messed up." Eden said, laughing, "He won't let go for a while."
Dawn nodded his head, jumping into the male's arms, clinging onto the male.
He gripped onto Dawn's waist so he didn't fall. Holding back a chuckle, he turned to Eden.
"Even then how could I possibly say no to this munchkin," his eyes then fell back onto the small elf in his arms. His eyes glistened in the light, signaling that he was smiling on the inside again.
"He's spoiled and he knows it." Eden said, "Plus if he really likes someone, he is very clingy."
"Y - Y - Yes, m' like Hawkie!"
"Ah, kid you make my heart sing," Hawke grunted keeping dull emotion.
"Would you two like something to drink? " he asks.
"A - A - Apple juice?" Dawn asked.
"I doubt we have any bud, but I tell you what. I'll get Rhett to bring you some..." he said.
Knowing that Rhett would probably come home for lunch.
He looked at Eden, "Would you like something?" He asked.
Eden shook his head, "No."
They decided to go back to the park, after all that was the reason Eden took Dawn out. So they were all waiting for Rhett to come back from work. Dawn was playing on the swings, Hawke pushing him.
Eden was sitting on the park bench when he heard a recognizable clicking.
"I heard that you were on my side of town," Rhett's gruff voice filled his ears. He leaned his head over Eden's shoulder, looking at the male from out the corner of his eye.
