Chapter 3
AMBROSE ALISTAIR
"That player!" I yelled. Cassie and I had come over to Stella's house after she texted us to.
"We should take revenge. Stella, what should we do? Throw eggs at his house? Wreck his car?" Cassie asked.
"He doesn't have a car. He's only 15." I rolled my eyes.
"Oh yes, that would be a problem." Cassie tapped her chin.
"Well then, we can come up with other ideas. Come on, Stel. Say something. If you're out of ideas I have a whole book—"
"Cassie, I don't want revenge," Stella sighed.
"What? Why not?" I asked, alarmed.
"Girl, I know this might be a bit over the edge for you but, you won't have to lift a finger. We'll do all the work." Cassie said. She loved chaos. She took every chance she got to take revenge. Violence and violence, that's all she was about. I can't handle being around this girl sometimes but, having her around was like having a personal bodyguard.
"Besides, he broke up with you by text. That's a straight no. There is no way we're letting him off the hook that easy." I added. Sure, I was against revenge and violence, but anyone that messes with Stella messes with me.
Cassie was already fueled up. All she needed was an ok from Stella. Her dark eyes were sharp. Her check shirt hanged in her lean and muscular body. Her dark, straight hair was cut short to her ear length. It was always messy, but she never bothered brushing it. Her hands looked like they could break someone's neck. They might have. I didn't know much about her even though we had been friends for four years. Had she killed people?
"I know," Stella said, and I flinched thinking that she had heard my thoughts. "What he did was not ok, but you have to give me some time to think this through. Please, don't do anything until then." Stella pleaded, almost in tears.
"Well, then why did you call us?" Cassie looked disappointed.
"Because you are my friends and you're supposed to be there for me. You are supposed to comfort me, not egg people for me."
"Egging people comforts me."
"Yes Cassie, but you're weird." Cassie looked like she was going to punch me in the face so, I quickly changed the subject. "You're right. We're sorry, but it's going to be ok you know. We're only 15. It's just one break up and its Zach for goodness' sake. Don't spoil a day for him."
"I guess you're right."
"I am"
Stella laughed slightly and I looked at Cassie.
"What? Oh, right. Yeah, what she said. You're fine without him. You're better off without him. You were a mess with him anyway."
"Please ignore her." I facepalmed.
Stella chuckled and nodded.
"Oh, I'm sorry I'm not good with advice like Ms. Nice Girl here."
"Oh, you think I'm nice?"
"Oh, shut up Alistair." She said, but I could see her hiding a smile.
"So, what else do you think about me?" I asked after a while. Stella had gone to bed so; we were walking back home.
"I think you're annoying."
"Ok. What else?"
"Will you just let it go?"
"Nope."
Cassie groaned and walked faster. I knew I was annoying her. I was doing it on purpose. As much as I didn't want to get punched in the face, I also liked testing my limits.
"Why are you running?"
"To get away from you."
"Oh, ok but, I thought I was nice."
She stopped in her tracks and turned back to me. Under the streetlights I could tell that she was angry. Maybe I had gone too far?
"One more word from you and this fist will meet your face." she said through her gritted teeth.
"Like you would beat your friend."
"Who said you were my friend?" she turned and walked away.
I wasn't her friend? What was that supposed to mean? We hung out all the time. Sure, she ignored me but still. I was just having fun with her, but she's too serious for it.
I still followed her but kept my distance. We lived nearby so it's not like I had a choice. After a while I saw her make a wrong turn. I walked behind her for another five minutes. She kept turning back to check if anyone was following and I hid in the bushes.
I realized where she was going. What was she doing? Stella said she didn't want revenge. Why was she going to Zach's house? I didn't see any eggs with her. I didn't see any water balloons either. So, what was her plan?
His house was huge with chandeliers and high roofs. He had a huge garden up front and a majestic brown gate. I saw Zach standing outside the gate and expected Cassie to run back so hid deeper into the bushes, but she walked straight to him. Did she plan on fighting him one on one? But how did he know she would be coming?
My answer came fast and slapped hard. She walked right to him and kissed him. He put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. No way.
I took out my phone and got a picture before they pulled away. I was shivering in the cold but, I stayed where I was until they got in—hand in hand.
Cassie was the girl he was talking about. He said that he loved someone else. Zach broke up with Stella because he was dating Cassie. How could she do this? She was her best friend. I had to show the picture to Stella. I got out of the bushes and ran back home. Stella didn't need more shit tonight.
