┌TWENTY SEVEN┐

The truth came wrapped up in pretty gold package paper, which Jungkook kept close to his heart for so long, only to rip it open and find deception and mistrust. Oh how badly Jungkook wanted to step all over it and throw it out the window, but all he could do was sob and look fearfully at Taehyung's eyes.

Eyes which he once saw as beautiful. The darkness of it alluring and deep, mysterious to Jungkook's naive mind. Now, the same darkness emitted evil, pure lust for power and nothing else.

Who are you?

"I work for them." Taehyung let out, and saw Jungkook's already glassy eyes fogged over with Judas kissed mist. "The Wangs. They sent me here." Every word which slipped out of Taehyung's mouth was like a stab to his stomach.

"W-why did you-" Jungkook started, still confused, not completely understanding it fully. If-if Taehyung loved him, why would he lie to him? "W-why did you lie?" Jungkook asked in a small voice, afraid of what would come out next.

Oh, those brown eyes which made Jungkook's heart swell like a tulip on an early spring day didn't make Jungkook feel that way. Jungkook felt windy storms and iced nights from those eyes. Who are you?

Taehyung smirked. Smirked. It made Jungkook's stomach feel like a void. "That was part of the assignment, doll." Taehyung whispered, and Jungkook's eyes widened. "Lie to you. Make you fall in love. Get all the information out of your pretty little-"

"No!" Jungkook pushed him away, caging himself into the wall, holding his arms to his chest, tears blurring his vision, the sight of the boy in front of him subliming into fractions. "You-you do love me! Y-you're lying." Jungkook cried.

Taehyung didn't move, just watching him with emotionless eyes.

Jungkook didn't know how to feel, how to act, what to do. He always let himself be carried by his heart, so he lunged forward, wrapping his arms around Taehyung's neck. "P-please, Taehyung- t-tell me, please, please, Tae-" Jungkook squeaked, lump in his throat evident through his speech.

"Tell you what?" Taehyung asked, not hugging him back, just allowing Jungkook to hug him. "That I've been lying to you this whole time? That's how things work around here, Jungkook. People lie. Everyone's masked."

Jungkook's heart was shattering, slowly, but surely. Dissolving into liquid which transformed into the tears which were leaking out of his eyes.

"Y-y-you're lying!" Jungkook screamed, looking at him closely, not knowing if he should push him away or pull him close. "Y-you told me, you-"

"I never told you I loved you." Taehyung spoke, uttered, with no feeling or empathy in his voice.

Jungkook moved back from him, turning around and gripping onto the window edge, moving his hand to his mouth so he could sob into it. "Why?" Jungkook whispered, barely looking back. "What did I ever do to you? Why-why did you have to hurt me-"

"What did you do to me?" Taehyung growled, sudden anger taking over him. "You've asked me before how my parents died, didn't you?" Taehyung asked, and Jungkook turned, looking at him with fearful eyes.

"Your father. That-that sick man- he murdered my parents in cold blood." Taehyung shouted, and Jungkook froze, eyes wide in shock and fear. "You want to know why, Jungkook? Because my father was actually friends with your father. Until he realised what a disgusting bastard your father was, and decided to work with Wang Ruiji. Of course- your father, having the fucking mind of an animal- murdered them."

Jungkook didn't know how to respond, just frozen still with tears in his eyes. "On their son's birthday. I was only 12, Jungkook- when I came home from school and saw a stranger sitting on my sofa, telling me my parents were murdered by a fucking lunatic. The same lunatic who helped that disgusting man from earlier rape my mother!"

"I-I'm not him, Taehyung. I w-wouldn't d-do something like-like that-" Jungkook sobbed out, and Taehyung turned his anger into this moment, snickering.

"Aw. But little Jungkookie always wanted to be at his father's feet, didn't he? Well, now you will be, doll. When every single one of you is-"

"You can't!" Jungkook interrupted, shaking his head. "Y-you can't. I didn't do anything. You know I didn't do anything. I-I-I just wanted someone to love me, a-and you-you-" Jungkook stammered.

Taehyung stood still, not replying.

"You promised me! Y-you promised me you wouldn't hurt me, Taehyung!" Jungkook persisted, unable to get his words out with the tears. "Y-y-you promised," Jungkook tried, hoping for some kind of gesture, words- something to show that maybe Taehyung was lying. Maybe this was just a big joke. He did love Jungkook.

Yet, nothing. "Promises are meant to be broken," Taehyung told him, staring into him with dark eyes. Jungkook broke.

"You monster!" Jungkook screamed, pushing him back. Jungkook shoved him and tried hitting him in the chest, but Taehyung grabbed his wrists. "Are-are you happy?! You made me fall in love with you, made me b-believe in your stupid lies! O-once I tell Namjoon, he'll-"

"Oh, what're you gonna do, huh?" Taehyung growled back, shoving Jungkook against the wall and pinning him to it. "You're gonna run to your daddy and cry to him about how you slept with one of the Wangs and told him everything, and how it put his Mafia in danger?" Taehyung growled, and Jungkook froze.

"T-Taehyung, please-"

"What're you gonna do, Jungkook?" Taehyung shouted, and Jungkook flinched at his voice. Suddenly Taehyung's hand dug further into Jungkook's chest, making him whimper in pain. "Go ahead. Tell Namjoon. Or your father. They'll kill me off-"

"N-no," Jungkook found himself breathing out, shaking his head.

"Do it! They'll shoot me in the head, and you can watch me die like my parents did. Even better- you take the gun and shoot me-" Taehyung growled, and Jungkook shook his head, tears rushing down his face.

"No!" Jungkook pleaded. "I can't kill you-" Jungkook squeaked out, and Taehyung felt himself still, seeing the pain in Jungkook's eyes and laced in his voice.

Realisation flooded Taehyung's mind. Taehyung moved away from Jungkook, stepped back. He reached down to pick up his cracked phone, and Jungkook watched him, breathing heavily.

"T-they said you have to-to get me and torture me, don't you?!" Jungkook whispered, and Taehyung looked at him.

That was his assignment. That's what Jackson told him to do. To drug Jungkook and take him to the Wan mansion.

But Taehyung can't.

"I'm sorry." Taehyung found himself whispering, and Jungkook broke down sobbing.

"I-I-I hate you!" Jungkook screamed as Taehyung walked to the door. Taehyung gave Jungkook one last look, one Jungkook couldn't make out because of how blurred he was from his eyes- before opening the door quickly and walking out of it.

Jungkook collapsed to the floor, covering his mouth and crying into it. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't feel, he couldn't see. He felt numb from head to toe, paralyzed, yet every inch of his being was shaking. The tears clogged up his senses. He didn't know what was going on.

Taehyung slammed the door shut behind him and breathed out a breath of relief when he noticed no one was there. He could hear Jungkook crying from inside the room, and he knew one of the boys would run out in an instant- so Taehyung rushed down the stairs and to the front door and walked out.

"Taehyung? Where are you going? Dokeun told me not to let anyone out-" One of the guards started, but Taehyung grabbed him from his shirt and punched him in the face, making him groan in pain and stumble back.

Taehyung ran to his motorbike and climbed atop it, and then drove out through the gates, not looking back.

All he could think of were a few words which were stuck in his head. I love you too.

"Jungkook? Baby- please open your door-" Jin said, knocking on his door continuously. Namjoon ran a hand through his hair, dialling the 7th call to Taehyung- which cut instantly.

"His phone is shut off or he's off the radar. Either way- we don't know where he is." Namjoon said.

"Pet you've been in there for a long time," Jin said, trying to open the door again, but it still wouldn't budge.

It had been a long day. They didn't notice or give it much regard that Jungkook didn't show up to dinner or breakfast- think it as him being sad because of what his father said to him. Also, his father didn't allow them to check up on him. Now that his father was in his room, far away, they could go up to him. But his door was locked, and he wouldn't respond.

"Jungkook- open the door right now. It's not funny." Namjoon snapped, ramming his fist on the door. Alas, no response. The two sighed, and Yoongi walked up to them.

"Where the hell is Taehyung?" Yoongi asked.

"Don't know. He just disappeared." Namjoon said, and Jin sighed. "Alright- y'know what, someone bust this door open. He's either fast asleep or.. something bad. Like he ran away with Taehyung or something." Jin said, and Hoseok came from behind them with another key in his hand.

He jammed the key into the door lock and opened it. When the door opened, it swung open and hit the wall, because of the air coming out of the windows.

"Jungkook?" Jin called, and then he let out a small sigh of relief when he saw the boy sleeping. He looked.. pale. His hair was disheveled, skin like glass, limbs sprawled across, one dangling off the edge of the bed, no blanket atop him. The room was freezing.

Yoongi rushed over to close the windows, and they were all a bit confused as to how Jungkook was still sleeping. That was until Jin gasped.

"Oh my god-" Jin let out, eyes widening. "T-this is- sleeping pills- h-how did he-" Jin started, and Namjoon's face fell in fear.

There was a small white bottle on the bedside table, pills sprawled across the table, the top of it opened. Sleeping pills. All the boys froze, and Jin fell to the bed, grabbing Jungkook and helping him sit up.

The boy's eyes were still shut, not a sight of soul in his body. Jin began shaking him lightly, patting his cheek. "Jungkook? C'mon- up, get up baby-" Jin started, for some reason finding himself shaking a bit too.

Jimin ran into the room, and his eyes widened when he saw Jungkook. "What-what happened?" Jimin choked out, and Yoongi looked confused, as well as scared.

"Jungkook, get up pumpkin- c'mon," Jin whispered, throat growing a lump, patting his back and trying to get him to wake up. Jungkook's head lolled back, and Jin felt tears prick his eyes for some reason.

Namjoon sat down beside Jin and grabbed Jungkook's wrist, checking for his pulse. As much as he was afraid, he had to try and remain strong.

"He has a pulse. He-he's-"

"Yes, but sleeping pills can take their effect slowly. We need to wake him up. I'll get cold water," Hoseok said, and then rushed to Jungkook's bathroom.

Hoseok ran in and then gasped. "Oh fuck- Yoongi!" Hoseok called, and Yoongi ran up to his washroom, and his eyes widened in fear.

Jungkook's mirror was shattered. There was a little bit of blood everywhere. Yoongi saw it and ran out of the washroom.

"He- t-the- um- the mirror is shattered. There's blood. Check his other hand," Yoongi stammered, because seeing Jungkook like this wasn't a sight he liked. Jin picked his other hand up and then saw a deep cut in it, now dried up, but still leaving a scar.

Namjoon got up and grabbed the mug of cold water from Hoseok's hands. He took a bit on a shirt lying around and then dabbed it all over Jungkook's face and neck, and his chest. Jin was holding Jungkook close to him, tears in his eyes.

"God- Jungkook, wake up-" Jin whispered, one thumb pressed behind his ear to check his pulse.

"Why- um- w-why did he do all this?" Yoongi asked, and Jimin stayed silent, watching from the back, fearful of the truth.

Finally, after what seemed like ages, the water soaked into Jungkook's skin, and the boy's eyelids opened ever so slightly, lashes fluttering.

Jin let out a big breath of relief, so did everyone else. Jin grabbed Jungkook and hugged him tightly, making the boy a bit confused.

Jungkook looked around, seeing all the boys. He was confused, not knowing what was going on. Namjoon crouched down in front of him and hugged him tightly.

"Goddammit, Kook. You scared the shit out of us." Namjoon breathed out, and Yoongi chuckled in relief, rubbing his face.

"W-where is-" Jungkook started, and then lightly pushed Namjoon and Jin off him, standing up. "Where is he?" Jungkook asked, and the boys furrowed their eyebrows.

"Who? Taehyung?" Hoseok asked, and Jungkook suddenly looked like fear had washed over him and ran out of the bedroom.

"Jungkook!" Jimin called, running after him. Jungkook ran down the stairs and out of the mansion doors, not caring that he wasn't wearing his shoes as he stepped onto the paved gravel. Jungkook rushed to the back, feeling the damp pathway underneath him from where it rained.

Jungkook froze when he didn't see the motorbike. Jungkook looked around, rushing to the side and looking everywhere.

Jimin ran out, the boys after him, to Jungkook. Jungkook turned and looked at him. "Where-w-where-"

"Taehyung's gone, Jungkook." Jimin said, feeling this lump in his gut. "He's not picking up our calls and-and he hasn't-"

Jungkook choked out a sob, and then shook his head. "No! N-no- it was a bad dream- it-I-I had a bad dream! Where is he?!" Jungkook asked, and Jimin walked over to him and wrapped his arms around him.

"Jungkook, I'm sorry. He left." Jimin whispered, and Jungkook shook his head, but still grabbed onto Jimin's shoulders, tearing up.

"H-h-he broke his promise." Jungkook blubbered out, and Jimin squeezed him tightly, and Jungkook kept crying. "He-he told m-me he loved me-" Jungkook cried, and Jimin pulled back and looked at him.

"I'm so sorry." Jimin whispered, because he knew what happened. He knew he was right. He knew he guessed it all along.

"What happened? What did he do?" Namjoon asked, looking angry. "Did Taehyung make you break your mirror, and take those pills?!" Namjoon growled, eyes showing a glint of red. "Tell me, Jimin, did he?" Namjoon asked, now looking at the shorter boy since Jungkook wasn't answering.

"Taehyung is-"

"Nothing." Jungkook said, and the boys looked at him. "He did nothing. We-we had a small fight. That's all. He'll come back. Everything is fine." Jungkook whispered.

"Clearly it's not, Kook. Tell me what he-"

"He didn't do anything! Don't hurt him!"

Jungkook cried, and Namjoon stopped when seeing how broken he looked. "D-don't kill him. He-he'll come back."

Jungkook walked back into the house, ignoring everyone's looks.

Jungkook knew he wasn't coming back. He knew he deserved Namjoon to go up to him and beat him up and hurt him for ever even thinking of playing with Jungkook's emotions like that. Every fiber of his being told him that Kim Taehyung deserved equal amount of pain.

But he couldn't.

Because he was in love with Taehyung. And he couldn't hurt someone he loves, even if he tries. He just can't.
