┌TWENTY NINE┐

Taehyung was hurting.
"I-I-I hate you!" Jungkook's words were echoing in his head, along with the image of Jungkook with tears running down his pale face, irises broken in disparity. How his body crumbled to the floor when Taehyung slammed the door shut, and how Taehyung's heart disintegrated into tiny pieces.
Just the fact that Jungkook went to sleep every night smiling because of Taehyung. His heart beating swell because of Taehyung. Cheeks turning pink and eyes dazzling because of Taehyung. Stomach churning with butterflies because of Taehyung. Thoughts making an image of a future with Taehyung.
All that, broken, in an instant.
Now he was crying because of Taehyung. Hurting because of Taehyung. Screaming, shouting, wanting death upon himself because of Taehyung. Hating himself because of Taehyung.
Taehyung was a monster.
"I-I wasn't supposed to fall for him," Taehyung breathed out, shaky hands clasped around a glass of cheap rum which he brought to his lips. "He's just- he's so fragile, Mark. All he wanted was f-for someone to love him, a-and hold him."
Mark stayed silent, urging Taehyung to continue. "He hates me now, and I understand. I hate myself more for-for-"
"Taehyung, it's not your fault. You were simply following orders. If you knew about Jungkook's past and-"
"I did!" Taehyung snapped, turning to Mark. "I-I did. I found out, didn't I? He told me- h-he trusted me. I should've stopped the second he told me a-about everything that happened to him. He just- he doesn't deserve all these things, Mark. He's s-so good, he's so good- his-his heart is pure and-and he doesn't- h-he-" Taehyung choked out, and Mark tsked when he saw tears in Taehyung's eyes.
"Tae- don't cry. C'mon- listen, I know you're upset, but-" Mark started, and then the door to Taehyung's room in that Mafia house opened, and Jackson walked in.
"You still moping?" Jackson asked in an angered tone, and Taehyung wiped his tears with the back of his hand, shaking his head quickly.
"Good. 'Cause the trackers you put on the Jeon vehicles are working. They're coming here." Jackson said, and Taehyung lifted his head up, looking at Jackson.
"What? W-why-"
"They know. That- that's probably why they're coming. Jungkook told them." Mark said, eyes widening. He shot up from the bed and rushed outside, along with Jackson.
Taehyung stayed on the bed, and then he grabbed his phone as quickly as possible.
[to Jungkook]
Please get out of the house as quickly as you can. I know you don't trust me, but please. For your safety.
Taehyung sent the message, and then there was a beeping.
Message not delivered.
Taehyung tried sending it again and again, but the same sign kept showing up. Message not delivered.
Dammit, Jungkook probably blocked him. Which is exactly what Jungkook should do- but Taehyung needs Jungkook to be safe right now.
Taehyung rushed out of the room and saw all the boys huddled around a table, Jackson ordering out some instructions. Taehyung was walking towards them, but then felt a hand on his back.
Taehyung turned around and his eyebrows lifted when he saw Wang Ruiji. "Sir- um- I was just-"
"Mark told me you failed to bring Jungkook here." Ruiji said, and Taehyung's breath hitched. He looked down at the floor. The man was older, hair dark with lines of grey. Lean, and tall, buff- that's where Jackson got it from. Eyes dark. He wasn't old. He wasn't old like Dokeun. Younger, but still had the intimidating look in his eyes.
"I did. I'm sorry. I just-"
"You failed your main mission I gave you, Taehyung. Nevertheless.. no point crying over spilt milk." Ruiji said, voice gruff. Incompetence. Taehyung nodded.
"Our plan now-" Ruiji said, voice booming, shutting everyone else up. The house had many soldiers and younger men, along with the main eight. "-is to attack on the Jeon mansion. The tracker shows cars coming our way. We'll give them a fight. But the tracker on Dokeun's shows him off the grid. He's not at the house. So Jaebum, Youngjae, you two go find him. Take some soldiers with you." Ruiji said.
"Jinyoung and Yugyeom, you two stay here with the other soldiers. When the Jeons get here, you know what to do. Jackson, Mark, Bambam, and Taehyung- go to the Jeon house. Get whoever else is there."
"G-get them?" Taehyung asked, and Ruiji turned to him. "Yes. Get them. Drug them and get them over here. Now everyone, go." Ruiji snapped, and everyone scrambled to go get their things done.
Taehyung's eyes widened, and he gulped. Mark shook his shoulder lightly. "I'm sorry, Taehyung- but just focus on the mission for now." Mark said, and Taehyung gulped.

Jungkook lay there on his bed, voices coming from outside. Jin was talking to Namjoon on the phone, and Jungkook was pretty sure they were having a fight. Jimin was somewhere, probably moping as well.
Promises are meant to be broken.
Jungkook felt more tears spill out of his eyes. Taehyung lied to him. Broke his heart. Tore it apart. Laughed at his face. Used all that vulnerability that Jungkook had given to him and crushed it with his bare hands.
And now he was going to die.
Jungkook felt his heart ache, grabbing onto the pillow. "Liar." Jungkook whispered to himself, unable to get out any words with how mustered he was feeling. Jungkook's heart was broken. Crumbled.
Taehyung didn't care. Taehyung never cared. No one cared. Jungkook was worthless. Useless. Worthless, useless, and still madly in love with Kim Taehyung.
Why did a part of Jungkook feel like Taehyung wasn't lying the whole time? Maybe-maybe he cared just a little bit? Maybe he fell in love with Jungkook despite being told not to?
Jungkook felt delusional. He was wrong. Taehyung didn't care. His thoughts were forced and driving him insane.
"What do you mean?" Jungkook heard Jin's voice from outside. Jungkook sat up, body hurting as he did. "No- Mr. Jeon's not here. I don't know, Joon, he's been gone since last night."
Jungkook stood up from his bed, his big sweater dragging his weight down. "It can't be empty- they have so many men. There's no cars there?..... Joon- you're scaring me. Hello? No- your-your voice is breaking- hello? Namjoon?" Jin said, and Jungkook reached the door, opening it slightly.
"Hello? Fuck-" Jin swore, and then looked at his phone in anger. Jin looked up and saw Jimin and Jungkook there, looking equally confused.
"What's wrong?" Jimin asked, and Jin gulped.
"I-I don't know. Call Yoongi. Namjoon's not picking up. He-he said there were barely any cars outside the residency. And-and then I heard some gunshots, I-"
"What?" Jimin asked, fear intaking him. Jimin reached for his phone and instantly dialled for Yoongi. The phone rang, and rang, but it didn't reach.
"Dammit!" Jimin cussed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "W-what if they caught them? And-and-"
"I'm sure it's fine, Jimin. Don't worry." Jin said, but couldn't help but be worried himself.
Jin turned towards Jungkook, and Jungkook grabbed onto his sleeve, tugging on it. "What's going on?" Jungkook asked in a small voice, feeling mentally and physically drained because of how the day had panned out.
"We don't know, Koo. But if there's anything-" Jin started, and then the walkie talkie attached to his jeans began beeping.
"Intruders- I repeat- there are intruders- shooting at u-u-us- get-" The voice at the gate started, breaking, but then a beeping sound came.
Jungkook felt fear invade his body when he heard loud gunshots from outside. Jin and Jimin looked at each other in fear, and then Jimin instantly rushed to the room to grab guns.
The first thing Jin did was push Jungkook into his room. "Stay in there. Don't leave. Whatever happens, don't come out." Jin said, and Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows, and tried reaching forward, but Jin slammed the door shut and locked it from the outside.
Jungkook tried opening it, but it wouldn't budge. "I-I can help!" Jungkook tried saying, but then heard more gunshots, and yelling.
Jungkook moved back, hitting the wall behind him and sliding down, falling to the floor upon hearing more gunshots. Clearly, there was many people in the house now, all shooting at each other. More gunshots. More shouting.
Jungkook reached his sweater-pawed hands to his face, biting onto the fabric in angst. Jungkook flinched when he heard a loud shout of pain from outside, and felt tears gather in his eyes, hoping to god that it wasn't Jimin or Jin.
Jungkook suddenly heard loud ramming on his door, and Jungkook froze, eyes widening in fear. Someone was trying to get in.
Jungkook scrambled around for something, and reached under his bed and took out a rusty gun that lay under there, which Yoongi placed for safety years ago.
Jungkook saw the door shake and loud kicks at the wooden door. Jungkook felt nothing but anxiety and pure fear wrack his brain and veins, filling him up. The tears in his eyes blurred his vision and he reached his gun up with quivering hands, the door shaking and someone pounding on it from outside.
Finally, the door burst open, or rather, broke open. Jungkook saw a man in all black with a black mask over his head, and felt like screaming. Jungkook reached the gun up, seeing a bigger gun in the man's hands. Jungkook was shaking at this point, gun practically falling from his shaking hands.
Jungkook saw with his blurred vision as the man closed the door and walked closer to him, in a haste. Jungkook tried standing up, but didn't have the energy to. The mean leant down in front of him, and Jungkook let out a sound of fear- a whimper, of a sort.
The person pulled the mask off their head slowly, and Jungkook's eyes turned big when he realized it was Taehyung.
"Y-you're- d-don't-" Jungkook stammered, but Taehyung rushed forward, wrapping his arms around Jungkook's trembling body.
"Don't worry- I won't hurt you. Just calm down. Take deep breaths. You see that blackness- it's nothing. It won't hurt you. You can open your eyes." Taehyung's gentle voice hushed, and Jungkook felt his anxiety riddling away when he was captured in Taehyung's arms.
Jungkook was still against the wall, and placed his hands on Taehyung's shoulders, his crying toning down. Taehyung leaned back to look at Jungkook, and his heart wallowed when it saw Jungkook's teary eyes and heart-broken expression.
"Dollie," Taehyung whispered softly, and Jungkook sniffled, shaking his head.
"L-Liar-" Jungkook stammered, and Taehyung reached forward, wiping Jungkook's teary away. "I know. I know." Taehyung said, voice coming out in a stutter as well.
Jungkook suddenly realized what he was doing and pushed Taehyung off him, standing up. The gunshots and shouting still going on outside.
"Y-you're killing them-" Jungkook squeaked, and Taehyung shook his head, and tried to move closer to him, but saw how Jungkook flinched and moved back.
It hurt, seeing Jungkook like this. Seeing him so afraid. Taehyung didn't want him to be afraid, so he stayed away.
"We're not. Don't worry, please, you-" Taehyung started, but the loud cry of pain from outside said otherwise. Jungkook looked scared and tried rushing outside, but Taehyung grabbed him before he could run out.
"Let go of me!" Jungkook screamed, his scream sending pain down Taehyung's spine. Taehyung clutched onto him.
"Don't go outside, dollie, please. Listen to me, Jungkook- j-just hear me out." Taehyung whispered, and Jungkook shook his head.
"No! You're going to lie! And lie and lie and lie! And b-break my heart again!" Jungkook cried, and Taehyung bit down on his lip, trying his hardest not to let his tears flow out.
"I know I did, I-I know- but I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm so so so fucking sorry." Taehyung let out, and Jungkook pushed him away, so Taehyung stumbled back.
"I-I don't want to hear your false apologies," Jungkook sneered, voice breaking with a lump in it.
"I didn't know how you were, Koo. I didn't know you were so sweet, a-and so lovely, and if I did I would've never hurt you-" Taehyung started, and Jungkook shook his head.
"But you did. You did hurt me. You found out and you still hurt me." Jungkook snapped, and Taehyung saw how Jungkook scrunched his trembling hands into fists.
"I know I did- but I never- I-I didn't want to, t-t-they f-forced- they told me you were different- l-like your brother. But you weren't. A-and by the t-time I figured that out- I had to break you- and I'm sorry." Taehyung breathed out, genuinely feeling his stomach tighten at how Jungkook still didn't believe him.
"Liar! Liar liar liar!" Jungkook screamed, and Taehyung saw him press himself back into the wall, trying to hide himself. "You don't care! S-stop pretending like you do! You were forced to like me- e-everyone is! Your words were never genuine. Your actions were never genuine. You don't care!" Jungkook cried, and Taehyung fell forward, gripping onto Jungkook's wrists.
"I do- I-I do, Kook, please. I was like you. I thought no one could love me, a-and I thought I would never love anyone. B-but then you came along, and I fell, baby. I fell so hard- and-and I hurt you, like a fucking monster. And I'm so sorry- because you deserve someone so much better than me-" Taehyung stammered, and Jungkook shook his head, the noises still coming from outside.
"Go away." Jungkook voiced, and Taehyung felt himself hesitate, wanting to hold the boy in front of him for years and years. "Go away!" Jungkook said, louder.
"I know you don't want to hear me right now, I know you hate me, and I understand. You should. You should want me dead. And I understand. B-b-but I still want- n-need you to be safe. So please, Koo- listen to me." Taehyung whispered, and Jungkook stopped, seeing the fear in Taehyung's eyes.
"They're here. Jackson, he's here. His father, he told us to get you. A-and I don't know what they're going to do to you over there, b-but-" Taehyung started, and Jungkook began laughing humorlessly.
"Please! Want me to be 'safe'? How can I believe a single word that comes out of your mouth when you-you promised me you wouldn't let anyone hurt me- but you did yourself!" Jungkook snapped.
"I-I didn't know then, but I do now, dollie, please. I'll help you run away, baby. You-you can be in m-my apartment, or-or get a train ticket to Soeul. Just run away from here. Please. I need you safe. You're not safe here-"
"I'm not safe with you, either!" Jungkook snapped, and tried ridding himself away from Taehyung's grasp.
"You w-won't be with me, Kook. You can be alone! J-just- you'll be safe. Away from all of this, and-and safe, and no one will hurt you-"
"You will!" Jungkook shouted, pushing him away. "You'll hurt me! You're a liar, I don't believe you! I-I'll get on the train to Soeul and get killed, t-that's what you want! Y-you want me dead! You never loved me! You never cared, y-y-you're a monster. You're like everyone else!" Jungkook cried out, tears streaming down his face.
"Y-y-you're my brother, a-and my father, and the worst parts of Namjoon and the worst parts of Yoongi and you-you're the worst parts of this world! You are what they tried to hide me from! Y-you were what they were trying to protect me from! But I pushed them away and took you in! A-a-and I let you inside of me, and you-you told me you would stay there! You told me you w-would love me and protect me and heal me, but you didn't! You lied and you took advantage of me and broke me and took everything!" Jungkook screamed, voice hoarse, not realizing he was sobbing at this point.
But Taehyung broke. He couldn't see Jungkook like this. So scared to be next to Taehyung. So angered. So heartbroken. So betrayed. Taehyung couldn't stand it. He couldn't lose Jungkook. Not the only person he loved.
Taehyung grabbed Jungkook rather roughly and then fell onto his knees, gripping onto Jungkook's hands. "I'm sorry." Taehyung cried, tears reaching his eyes as well.
Jungkook shook his head and tried to pull away, but Taehyung gripped onto him, and pressed his head to Jungkook's stomach, broken himself. "I'm so sorry, Jungkook. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry. Y-you're right. I'm a-a monster w-who only thought of revenge. I'm sorry for breaking you, and lying to you, and betraying you, and misusing your trust, and taking advantage of you. I'm sorry-"
"Taehyung-" Jungkook stammered, and Taehyung looked up at him. "I'm so, so in love with you, Jungkook. A-and I'm so, so stupid. So stupid for hurting you. So stupid for not telling you- a-and letting this carry on, and breaking you, baby I'm sorry."
"You don't love me." Jungkook whispered, and Taehyung cried out in guilt, seeing Jungkook with tears as well. "You-you don't-"
"I know you won't believe me. I-I do. And I know you hate me right now- I-I do too- but I'm so badly in love with you, my doll. I'm sorry- I know my love seems fake, but it's all true and it's all for you, and I'm sorry. I wish- I-I wish all your pain could come to me, baby, b-but-"
Jungkook reached on hand to his mouth, crying into it, because he was so confused. He didn't know if to believe Taehyung or run away and never look back.
"Don't love me back. I don't deserve that. But please, for yourself, run away, Koo. I'll help you. I'll give you money, and food, and a place to live and a passport and e-everything, just-just run away. They'll hurt you, they'll-"
There was a ramming on their door, and Jungkook's eyes widened, along with Taehyung's. Taehyung stood up, hiding Jungkook behind him.
"Hide." Taehyung snapped, and the ramming increased. "Tae? You in there?" A voice came, and Taehyung gulped.
Jungkook didn't know if he should believe Taehyung or not. He didn't know if he could trust Taehyung or not.
"Jungkook, hide!" Taehyung hissed, and Jungkook shook his head, and Taehyung grabbed Jungkook and then tried to push him into his bathroom, but then- the door burst open.
"There you-" Jackson started, but his eyes darkened when he saw Jungkook. Taehyung instantly lunged forward, pushing Jackson back.
"Jackson, don't-" Taehyung started, but Jackson shoved him away.
"We told you to get him, didn't we?" Jackson shouted, and Taehyung tried grabbing him, but Jackson grabbed him from the front and punched Taehyung in the face, making him fall back.
Jungkook's eyes widened, and he reached for the gun, but then Jackson grabbed Jungkook and covered his mouth with his hand, muffling his scream. Jungkook tried pushing him, but Jackson grabbed a napkin coated with chloroform and pressed it to Jungkook's mouth.
Taehyung rushed up and tried pulling Jackson off him. "Jackson, please- d-don't do it-" Taehyung yelled, and Jackson shoved him back, making him fall onto the table behind him, the lamp on it falling over and crashing into pieces.
Taehyung felt blood on his fingertips, but that wasn't important. He looked up and saw Jungkook, eyes slowly sliding shut. Passed out.
Jackson swiftly picked Jungkook up, throwing him over his shoulder. Taehyung watched with fearful eyes as Jackson carried Jungkook towards the door. Before he left, he turned to Taehyung.
"I'm sorry. But it's what has to be done." Jackson said, a hint of remorse in his voice. Taehyung ignored him, continuing to look straight ahead, eyes bloodshot red.
