"T-Taehyung- breathe, o-okay? Breathe, please," Jungkook stammered, holding a cloth over Taehyung's chest and one on his back, making sure the blood loss wasn't too much.

"B-b-baby- d-don't cry," Taehyung choked out, his hand clutching over Jungkook's. Jungkook was sobbing, really, tears flowing down his face. Taehyung's words were choked, in clear pain.

"Shut up!" Jungkook squeaked out, and then put more pressure on Taehyung's wound when he felt blood seep through the fabric and onto his hands.

Taehyung closed his eyes, focusing on his breathing, while Jungkook sniffled, feeling the car engine rev loudly as the tires moved faster towards the hospital.

"Mark- f-faster -please-" Jungkook said, and Mark nodded, and then looked back for a millisecond, seeing blood overflowing out of Taehyung, his face pale, tipped back, trying to breathe through his mouth.

"God fucking dammit Taehyung- your fucking luck on getting shot twice." Mark growled, and then finally pulled the car into a vacant shady hospital parking lot.

Clearly Mark had called someone, because some nurses rushed out with a stretcher, and Mark ran out of the car and opened the door, helping Taehyung out. Taehyung got lifted onto the stretcher, and the nurses rushed him inside, all saying something to each other in worry.

Jungkook ran in behind them along with Mark, placing his hand on the edge of the bed to help it go faster through the hallways. An oxygen mask got put onto Taehyung's mouth and Jungkook looked at him, tears begging to spill out.

Taehyung opened his eyes a little and looked at the younger boy, who was in panic. Taehyung's vision was dimming, everyone's voices melding into a weird blur of noises, everyone's faces unrecognisable, only sound being his heavy breathing into plastic. But he could see. He could see his baby.

And Taehyung smiled a little, and Jungkook saw it, saw how Taehyung smiled at him and he began crying harder when Taehyung's eyes slid shut, going unconscious.

The nurses rushed the stretcher into the ER room and closed the door, one of the nurses spilling out an apology for how she couldn't allow Jungkook to enter. The white door closed and Jungkook placed his hands over his mouth, choking out a sob.

"Jungkook," Mark let out, and placed his hand on Jungkook's back. "He'll be fine. Just- don't-d-don't worry, okay? He'll be-"

"You don't know that!" Jungkook cried, turning towards him, trying to control his sobs.

"I know, but-but just- have hope, okay? Those guys- they worked for your father. Your father's men shot Taehyung." Mark said, gulping. His face was too pale, looking worried to see Taehyung like this.

"T-that's great! Th-this is all my fault!" Jungkook cried, and then the doors to that little secluded waiting room outside the ER room burst open, and Jungkook turned to see who it was.

Jimin and Yoongi. They rushed in, looking worried with faces pale. "J-Jimin-" Jungkook choked out, and Jimin rushed up to him, engulfing the teary boy into a hug, patting his back.

"What-what happened? Why'd you tell us to come here?" Yoongi asked, and Mark pressed his lips together. Before he could respond, Jungkook did.

"T-Taehyung- he-he g-got shot! He got s-shot twice, Jim-i-in- he-" Jungkook stammered, and Jimin gasped and held him tighter.

Jimin suddenly pulled away lightly and realised Yoongi was there- someone who hadn't greeted Jungkook properly since.. that night.. and had known him longer. "Baby-" Yoongi let out, and Jungkook rushed into his arms, letting himself be enveloped by his arms.

"Y-Yoongi- he-he's in there- I-I-I don't k-know if-if he-" Jungkook babbled out, his words disjointed, his mind clearly cluttered. Yoongi pet his hair, knowing Jungkook usually got more comfortably when the boys did that.

"There there, pet, you'll be fine. He'll be fine. Don't lose hope- Taehyung's strong." Yoongi whispered, and Jungkook cried into his shoulder. Yoongi looked at Mark, still having Jungkook in his arms.

Jungkook suddenly pulled back when he realised. "W-what hap-happened to-to Jin? A-and Hoseok? And Namjoon?" Jungkook asked, another bubble of anxiousness setting in when he remembered what he saw in the news that morning.

Yoongi gulped, and Jungkook saw how his eyes looked like they were past hope, past cure. "They're gone, Koo." Yoongi whispered, and Jungkook opened his mouth to say something, and he let out a small cry.

"H-how did this happen? And-and you and Jimin? When-when will they get out?" Jungkook asked, and Jimin walked up behind him, looking downhearted himself.

"Last night. Cops found our house and broke in. They took Namjoon, Hoseok, and Jin. To god's grace, me and Yoongi weren't there. We'd gone out for the night. And- a-and when we reached closer to the house, we saw it surrounded by cop cars and drove the other way. We-we were hiding in Yoongi's old apartment, and-and twenty minutes ago Mark called us to come here- so we rushed." Jimin explained, and Jungkook tried to be a little optimistic.

"They'll b-be out soon, right? Like, a-a few years?" Jungkook asked, and Yoongi chuckled sadly, looking beaten down.

"Hoseok a-and Jin will probably 3 or-or 4 years." Jimin said, because he knew Yoongi didn't look close to wanting to talk about it.

"N-Namjoon?" Jungkook asked, eyes turning big.

Yoongi looked away, sniffling, looking half angered, half cynical. "Ten years."

"Ten years?" Jungkook choked out, and Yoongi looked away, nodding. "Or more." Yoongi continued, and Jungkook reached his hands to his mouth, feeling his nails digging into his palm harshly.

Ten years. Jungkook thought, and moved closer to the chair, sitting down slowly. Suddenly, every mean thing Namjoon ever said to him seemed to evaporate into dust. Because it made Jungkook realise, that Namjoon really loved him.

And he just wanted Jungkook to be safe.

Jungkook was like his baby, literally, and every time he said something to Jungkook which angered him or made him cry a little, it was to make sure Jungkook wouldn't get hurt.

And Jungkook didn't even say goodbye.

"I-I'll b-be able to visit, right? Like- they-they have visiting-"

"Not for a year at least." Jimin said, and then sat down beside Jungkook. "Yoongi and I are trying to drive out to the country side- because we might be able to hide for a few months, at least, before we get caught. If they find Dokeun, they'll ease out on the rest of us. They just want your father. Once they do, Yoongi says they won't need to arrest us." Jimin said, and Jungkook sniffled, and then nodded.

"T-that's good. Do-do you know if they're okay?" Jungkook asked, and Jimin shrugged.

"I don't know. But- but Namjoon- that day you left a-and said you never wanted to see him again? He s-started crying. He-he said he hated himself for h-hurting you, and-and he w-wanted to meet you once before you left or he got arrested." Jimin said, and Jungkook felt tear drops fall from his eyes.

Jungkook reached his hands to his head, gripping onto his hair in frustration, pure frustration. Frustration with Namjoon's situation, Jin's situation, Taehyung's situation- life, itself. How could life be so fucking cruel? Well, maybe that's what they deserve. For being so bad and cruel.

But they weren't, they were never cruel hearted, just cruel minded. And maybe that didn't mater in the real world, but it did to Jungkook. Because he knew every time Namjoon killed someone or completed a mission, he'd come to Jungkook at night and tuck him in, wishing him goodnight. And Jungkook would giggle about how they always had ketchup on their shirts and were messy. And Namjoon would look a little disheartened and then kiss Jungkook's forehead, promising him to always protect him.

So maybe Namjoon hurt him many times. But he did. He did protect him. And all Jungkook wanted to do was be 6 years old again, and run towards Namjoon and climb onto his lap and have Namjoon read him a bedtime story until he fell asleep.

"Jungkook," Mark said softly, breaking him out of his trance. "You do have a flight for tonight still." Mark said, and Jungkook looked ahead, into the wall.

"I'm not going." Jungkook said, and Mark sighed.

"Jungkook-"

"I'm not going without him, Mark!" Jungkook said, and Mark hesitated for a second. "Okay. I understand. I'm going to go make a call. I'll just tell Jackson and all the situation." Mark said, and Jungkook nodded, and saw Mark walk away.

The door opened, and Jungkook stood up, the anxiousness filling him till his throat like bile. Yoongi and Jimin were there too, so at least Jungkook had a little comfort. A doctor walked out, and Jungkook instantly recognised him as the doctor from the day he was at the hospital.

"Jungkook." The doctor, Baekhyun, said. "And.. others. I'll just update you on the situation." Baekhyun said, and Jungkook nodded, and Yoongi, beside him, placed his hand on his back to give him some comfort.

"Taehyung is... breathing." Baekhyun said, and Jungkook let out a small breath he didn't know he was holding. "As in- he-he's.. alive, and we've removed the bullets. However, one of the bullets went to his chest, and it was 6 inches close to the heart- which.. is quite lethal. He's lost a lot of blood." Baekhyun explained, and Jungkook gripped onto Yoongi's hand, unable to express how he was feeling.

Baekhyun continued, sensing the silence. "The bullet in his back has only affected some muscle tissue, which is good. And thankfully, the guns used were automatic handguns- which-"

"Least lethal." Jimin said, and they all looked at him. "Handgun bullets move much slower - up to only around 1600 feet per second." Jimin said, and Baekhyun nodded.

"Exactly. And the added distance to both the bullets decreased his chances of the bullets having more impact." Baekhyun said, and then gave them a small smile. "So, there's a 60% chance of Taehyung surviving through the surgery and making it out alive." Baekhyun said, and Jimin and Yoongi looked a little relieved, but Jungkook froze.

"60%?" Jungkook choked out, eyes wide. "W-what- what about- t-the other 40%? What-what do you mean?" Jungkook let out, and Baekhyun shifted at his words, gulping.

"The-the survival rate is 60%." Baekhyun repeated, and Jungkook let out an angered and astounded scoff. "So there's a 40% chance that he might die?!" Jungkook snapped, and Yoongi gripped his hands.

"Jungkook, don't get mad. Think about the 60%, pet, not the-"

"No!" Jungkook cried, and pulled his hands away. "I- I'm not letting Taehyung d-die." Jungkook snapped, and then pushed past Dr. Byun and into the ER room.

"Sir you can't-"

One of the nurses, realising the situation and sensing there was no way of kicking Jungkook out, passed him a surgical mask for him to put on to not inhale the chemicals and germs in the air. Jungkook put it on and then walked closer to Taehyung, feeling tears well in his eyes from seeing his half naked body, a bullet hole on his chest, eyes closed, clearly unconscious.

"T-Tae-" Jungkook whimpered, and then placed his hand on Taehyung's larger one, a sadness like a shadow seeping into his skin and crawling through his veins at the sight of Taehyung. Red, flushed. The only sight Jungkook liked was how the heart monitor had a moving line.

They were covering the hole in his chest up, and Jungkook stood back a little, gripping his hand. Jungkook hated this, hated the sight of Taehyung look so helpless. Taehyung was never helpless. He was strong. He was always strong.

He stood there for a bit, until the bullet hole was covered up and the proper lights were turned on. "We'll leave." One of the nurses said, and Jungkook nodded, and saw as the nurses and doctors piled out. Before Baekhyun moved out, he stood by the door, looking at Jungkook.

"Jungkook?" Baekhyun said, and Jungkook looked up at him wearily. "Don't worry. I know Taehyung. He's strong enough to make it out of this alive." Baekhyun said, and Jungkook nodded with a small smile, his heart pounding at that.

Jungkook grabbed a chair, pulling it closer to Taehyung's bed and sitting down on it. Jungkook still held Taehyung's hand, and reached it to his face, pressing his trembling lips against it.

"T-The universe couldn't tear us apart. Even if it tried." Jungkook whispered, and looked at Taehyung. "I-I don't know if you can hear me. B-but I wanna talk." Jungkook said.

"I can't." Jungkook choked out. "I can't let you die, Tae." Jungkook whispered, and felt tears swimming in his brown eyes. "W-who will take care of me?" Jungkook squeaked, gripping Taehyung's hand tighter.

"Who- w-who will hold me when-when it storms? Who will hold me when I cry? Who will- w-who will love me as much as you, Taehyungie?" Jungkook let out, and then dropped Taehyung's hand for a second to wipe his tears.

"Y-you need to b-be alive, Taehyungie. For me." Jungkook said, and then held Taehyung's hand against his face. "I-I never showed you Tangled." Jungkook said, with a small smile, sniffling. "You- you never showed me Die Hard." Jungkook said.

"We'll watch those movies every day, Tae. When we live together." Jungkook squeaked, and looked at Taehyung with glimmering eyes. "W-with our big house, and-and-"

Taehyung's heart rate increased a bit, and Jungkook's eyes widened at how it increased at his words, and he smiled. "We'll have our dogs, Taehyungie! One dog, a-and a cat, if you like. Our three children. Names are undecided, but I'm sure we'll come up with good ones." Jungkook giggled.

"A-and the beach! We'll go for a walk on the sand every morning and night, Taehyungie. And you'll hold me while the water laps on our feet. And-and I'll remind you how-how much I love you, Taehyungie, h-how much I-"

Taehyung's eyes fluttered open.

Jungkook's doe eyes widened, and his mouth fell a little.

Taehyung blinked slowly, and let out a small smile. "Continue." Taehyung said groggily, and Jungkook smiled widely, letting out a small cry because he was so happy.

"O-okay! We'll- we'll open a little cafe. Cafe p-plus bar, so I can be a baker- and you can be a bartender." Jungkook said with a small smile, and saw how Taehyung let out a little chuckle.

"Anything for you baby," Taehyung said, his voice deeper and raspier.

Jungkook shook his head with a small giggle. "No no! Anything for us. Everything for us, Taehyungie. Us." Jungkook said, and Taehyung looked at Jungkook fondly.

"Us." Taehyung repeated softly, and then the door to the room opened.

Mark walked in, and let out a sigh of relief when he saw Taehyung. "Jesus Christ dude- you scared the living shit out of me." Mark said, and Taehyung chuckled lazily, while Jungkook giggled.

"Baby," Taehyung whispered, and Jungkook looked at him expectedly. "C-could you go out for a second? I need to speak to Mark privately." Taehyung said, and Jungkook looked down shyly.

"About what?" Jungkook squeaked, and Taehyung gave him a small smile, and Jungkook felt his cheeks redden because he could tell Taehyung always made that smile when Jungkook was being cute.

Jungkook got up. "Okay.." Jungkook trailed, and waved his little hand at Taehyung before walking out the door.

Jungkook walked out the door and saw Jimin and Yoongi sitting on the plastic chairs, Jimin's head on Yoongi's shoulder, both looked stressed out. Jungkook smiled. "He's fine! I think." Jungkook said, and Yoongi and Jimin sat up, looking at him.

"R-really? Oh, that's great!" Jimin said with a big smile, and Jungkook rushed up to them.

"Are you going to leave the country?"

"Not without Taehyung." Jungkook said, and Yoongi sighed.

"You should, Kook. You shouldn't be here during this mess. All of us would hate for you to get caught up in it. If there's a flight for tonight, you should go." Yoongi said, and Jungkook pouted a little.

"B-but Taehyungie.." Jungkook said softly, and Jimin placed his hand on Jungkook's knee.

"Taehyung can come later, Kookie. When he's fine. You can stay there for a couple of weeks alone, can't you?" Jimin said, and Jungkook sighed.

"Weeks can turn into months or years." Jungkook said softly, and Yoongi sighed. "Y'know that won't happen, Koo. Us and Taehyung will make sure Dokeun gets to the police, and then Taehyung will come to America with you, okay?" Yoongi said, and Jungkook nodded hesitantly, looking down.

"As long as he's fine." Jungkook said, and Jimin smiled.

"He will be. Don't worry." Jimin whispered, and Jungkook smiled a little.

They'd be fine. Everything will be okay. Jungkook and Taehyung would have their future, whatever it takes.
