CHAPTER 04

WHEN GERALT RETURNED TO GHELIBOL, HE RUSHED INTO THE MEDIC'S HUT,

"Here's your venom glands." Geralt growled, tossing her the sack of parts before noticing the empty bed, "Where is she?"

The medic led him into another room, where the pale woman was laying in the bath. He could see the steam rising from the water and filling the room,

"The heat slows the spreading of the poison." The medic told him before taking the glands and cutting into them and crushing herbs, "Lay her down by the fire."

Geralt lifted the woman into his arms, wrapping her bare body in his cloak before kneeling in front of the fire. He glanced down at her wound, her blood still a darker colour then it should be.

"Who is she to you, Witcher?" The healer asked, "Last I check, your kind doesn't go around with companions."

"I owe her a debt, nothing more. I barely even know her name." He replied, pushing her damp hair from her cheek.

"You don't act like you only owe her a debt."

Geralt stayed silent as he cast his eyes towards the fire. If it weren't for her eyes, she could've been mistaken for a Witcher, like him. But the thing is, there are no female Witchers.

So who exactly was she?

The medic poured boiling water over the ingredients she mashed and added the venom from the glands. She stirred the liquid before walking over, "This should heal her."

Geralt held her head up while the medic carefully poured the liquid into the white-haired girl's mouth. Once most of it had gone down her throat, the medic poured the rest on the wound.

Faina cried out in pain and opened her eyes. The flames in the fire place burned higher and Geralt covered her, protecting her from the heat.

Gasping, the woman looked around, "Where are we?" She asked, "And why am I naked?" She pulled the cloak tighter around herself.

The Witcher smirked down at her, "I brought you here to cure the poison from your system, remember?"

That's when he noticed her eyes. They weren't blue, like he originally thought. They were a pale purple.

"What, and you violated me in the process?" Faina removed herself from his arms and kept the cloak wrapped tightly, despite him already having seen her nude, "Where are my clothes?"

The healer walked over to the bed, where her clothes were folded and clean, except for the blood stain, "I wasn't able to get the blood out."

She handed her the clothes and Faina gave Geralt one last look before walking into the back room to change. The medic followed to check on her stitched wound.

Once she was wrapped up and with a little help, put her clothes on, the two left the room. Geralt held out a bag of coins towards the healer, "For your troubles."

The woman nodded, taking the bag and moving to clean her working table,

"Next time I end up in Blaviken, that girl better watch out." Faina growled, slipping her boots on,

The healer turned towards them, "Did you say Blaviken?"

Geralt and Faina glanced at each other for a moment, "Yes, why?"

"You didn't hear? There is no more Blaviken. It's been burned to the ground. Only days ago."

Geralt turned to look at the woman sitting on the bed. Her face was calm as she stood, "Pity." She nodded at the healer, "Thank you for your help."

The woman nodded before the two left her hut.

The Witcher grabbed onto the woman's arm, "Was that you?"

She glared up at him, "Was what me?"

His grip tightened, "Blaviken. You were the last one there."

Faina rolled her eyes, "Clearly not." She pulled her arm away, "I promise you, Witcher, I did not start those fires."

Because it was true. She didn't start them. The villagers did. She only caused them to grow.

"And how do I know you didn't start them?" She accused, "You found me outside the village. How do I know you weren't sticking around to burn it down once I had left, Butcher?"

"Because I was too busy taking care of you." He growled,

Faina sighed, "We should go. If they find out a Witcher was seen in Blaviken before the burning, they could be after you."
