A smile instantly formed on Ciel's face once he saw you, standing up from one of the benches in the garden to greet you. You almost didn't notice Ciel clutching something in his hands.
"Hi, (y/n)!" He greeted happily, his smile only growing as you had caught up. You tried to force out a smile, but it was weak, and anyone could see past it.
"I-I have something for you," the black-haired boy explained, holding up a silver bracelet with a blue stone, a slight tint of pink on his cheeks. Before you had time to do anything, Ciel grabbed your wrist and forced the bracelet around your hand gently, bringing his eyes to meet yours with a big smile.
You looked down at the bracelet, before averting your gaze to the happy boy in front of you. Seeing his genuine smile only seemed to hurt you more, as you instantly brought your gaze back down to the bracelet, blinking away your tears that had formed in your eyes.
"It's beautiful..." You complimented quietly, trying your best to keep your voice from cracking.
"Just like you!" Ciel quickly added, his smile never leaving his face as he looked over at you. You let out a small whimper, struggling to keep in your sobs as you could no longer hold back your tears. Ciel's smile instantly vanished as he saw your sad form, looking down at you worriedly.
"What's wrong?" He asked concernly, studying your face to figure out what the problem was, even though your face was hiding behind your hair.
"I... I'm moving..." You explained, your voice cracking as tears rolled down your cheeks. You hung your head, not daring to look up at the black-haired boy you had grown strongly attached to.
Silence washed over the two of you as Ciel tried to process what he had just heard. He stared at nothing in utter disbelief and shock until his brain had processed everything, and he managed to blink a few times before turning his gaze towards you.
"When...?" He hesitantly asked, scared of what the answer might be. He thought you were joking at first, but then you wouldn't be crying. And considering you're a bad lier, he knew you were telling the truth.
You sniffed before answering. "Now..." Ciel's heart seemed to drop to his stomach as he looked down at you in disbelief.
"Will-will you be back...?" He asked, dreading the answer. He stared at you intently, waiting for your answer, even though part of him didn't want to hear it. You tried to answer, but no words would come out, so you shook your head instead, whimpering quietly as tears streamed down your face.
"(Y/n), it's time to go!" Your mother yelled from the front entrance. A part of you wanted to run away with the black-haired boy and forget about everyone else, but you knew you couldn't do that.
You sniffed again as you turned around, ready to leave when you felt someone grab a hold of your wrist and pull you back, forcing you into their chest for a tight hug. You instantly hugged back, knowing it was Ciel.
"W-we'll find each other again! Just remember to always wear your bracelet, ok?" You nodded into his chest, your lip quivering as tears continued to roll down your cheeks, soaking Ciel's clothes.
Even though neither of you wanted to, Ciel pulled away and sent you a reassuring smile, which only seemed to break your heart even more.
"This is merely a see-you-later, right?" Ciel pointed out, as you nodded in response. You ran into his chest once more, giving him one more hug before walking away, despite wanting to stay.
"We're here, lady (y/n)." You were broken out of your thoughts from your butler, and looked up from your bracelet to see the carriage had stopped outside a mansion. Your butler held out his hand to help you out of the carriage, and you placed your hand on his as you stepped out.
You looked up at the mansion, taking in the beautiful scenery before your butler had walked beside you.
"I'll be here to pick you up after the masquerade, ok?" You looked over at your butler and nodded, before walking up to the front door and knocking on it after adjusting your mask. It was opened merely a second later, and a butler stood in front of you. He wore basic butler clothes, but with a black mask, since it was after all a masquerade.
"Welcome to the (random last name) estate, I hope you enjoy the party," he said kindly with a warm smile, stepping aside to let you in. You stepped past him as he closed the door behind you, and you instantly saw a crowd of people, all in fancy clothing and masks.
You pushed your way past the crowd, trying to get somewhere with less people, when somebody bumped into you.
"S-sorry!" You quickly apolgized, even though it wasn't your fault. The person glared at you, making a small "hmph!" and turning away from you.
"Rude..." You muttered, before continuing past. It took you merely a second to realize your bracelet wasn't around your wrist, and that was enough to send you into panic mode.
You frantically looked around for your bracelet when a hand suddenly appeared in front of your face, along with your bracelet, causing your eyes to widen.
"Excuse me, I think you dropped this." You instantly grabbed the bracelet away from the person, clutching it to your chest and breathing out in relief.
"Thank you so much!" You thanked, before taking in the looks of the person in front of you. It was a boy around your age with black hair and one navy blue eye as the other had an eyepatch over. He wore expensive clothes, most in shades of blue, along with a mask.
"If I may ask, where did you get that bracelet?" He asked, his heart pounding as a certain (h/c)-haired girl entered his mind.
"It was given to me by someone very important when I was younger," you replied, sending him a warm smile as you loosened the tight grip around your bracelet. The boy's eye seemed to widen as he looked at you.
"Can I see it?" He instantly asked, trying his best to hide his excitement.
"Uh, sure," you replied, handing the bracelet to the boy as he instantly grabbed it away from you, studying it intently. His eyes widened as he recognized the silver bracelet and the blue stone attached to it. He brought his attention back to you in disbelief, as you had a confused expression in response.
"(Y/n)...?" He asked hopefully, his eyes never averting from you. Your eyes widened a little in response.
"H-how did you know my name?" You asked confusedly, causing the boy's eyes to widen. A smile formed on his usually expressionless face as he instantly wrapped his arms around you, hugging you tightly like you would leave again if he didn't.
"Y-you kept the bracelet..." He muttered into your neck, gripping onto the bracelet as he hugged you tightly. You understood who the boy was and instantly hugged back, tears forming in your eyes.
"I can't believe it's you!" You exclaimed into his chest, not caring about the others that stared at you and the boy you longed to meet again. "I-I've missed you so much!"
"I've missed you, too," he muttered, his grip on you tightening like someone would take you away from him if he didn't. "I-I didn't think I could ever be happy again..." You smiled into his chest, until he pulled away.
He grabbed your wrist gently and slipped the bracelet on you, before intertwining his fingers with you, causing both of you to blush.
"W-what are you doing?" You chocked out, your blush only growing as Ciel's face came closer to yours.
"Something I should've done a long time ago," he replied, before placing his lips on yours. You jumped slightly as your eyes widened, but relaxed once you melted into the kiss, kissing back despite the stares you were getting from the others around.
He pulled away (sadly), and sent you a warm smile, which turned into a smirk. "Told you it was only a see-you-later."
