"Have a good weekend!"

The bus driver waved to you as you hopped off the last step of the bus. You waved back as the doors closed and you walked down the path. It was the end of the week; the "best day" of every high schooler's life--for every -schooler's life, really.

As you walked up to your house, you suddenly remembered that you had forgotten the key. You sighed, walking up the steps of the porch and stopping at the door. You knocked on the door, then waited for a reply.

"I really hope she's home," you mumbled under your breath.

"Coming!" you heard your mom call out, and you sighed in relief.

A few seconds later, you heard her walking on the other side. She opened the door, her "greeting smile" on her face.

"He- Oh?" Her smile faltered as she raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I kind of forgot my key," you admitted bashfully as you scratched the back of your neck.

Your mom threw her head back in laughter as she walked away. You grumbled as you stepped inside and closed the door. As her laughing subsided, she turned back and kissed you on the cheek.

"How was school today?" she chuckled, wiping a tear away.

You shrugged as you followed her into the kitchen. "Like all the rest. All the classes were long and boring until the wise-guy in the back made the rest of the class laugh."

"I see . . . So, I'll be spending the night with a friend. I'll be back around 9:30 tomorrow morning," she told you. "Will you be okay while I'm gone?"

"Yeah. As long as it's a friend and not a 'friend.' "

"No, no. It's an actual friend."

"Okay. Well, I'm gonna go and take a shower," you changed the subject, starting towards the stairs.

"Alright. I'll make sure to start doing dishes as soon as you get in there," she joked.

"Please don't!" you yelled as you started up the stairs.

You heard faint laughter as you went upstairs. You rolled your eyes as you went into your room. You tossed your backpack on your bed, glad that none of the teachers gave you any weekend homework. You grabbed a pair of pajamas, then headed to the bathroom.

You waved to your mom through your bedroom window as she got in her car. She chuckled, waving back.

As she drove away, you left your room and went downstairs. You hopped on the couch and grabbed the remote. It was just you in the house, so you could watch anything you wanted to in the living room. You turned on Rick and Morty, then binged it for hours.

Eventually, you started to get tired. You lay down, yawning. As you started to close your eyes, the TV turned to static, and you could see an image of the face of an animatronic. You didn't think much about it, though. You were too tired.

A noise made your eyes suddenly open. You grunted as you squinted at the bright light of the TV. You sat up, looking at the time: it had only been an hour since you fell asleep.

You groaned as you dropped back down on the couch. When you heard another noise, you shot up. You sighed as you rubbed your eyes. You were about to yell to your mom, when you remembered that she had left earlier. You were supposed to be alone in the house.

Your eyes widened as you grabbed the nearest object for self defense--it was a pillow. You stood up, quietly following the noises. It led you to the basement.

"Why the basement of all places?" you sassed quietly.

You slowly tiptoed down the stairs, making sure they didn't creak underneath you. When you got to the bottom step, you saw the same animatronic that was on the TV. It then turned to look at you, making your whole body tense up.

"Oh, hi!" he exclaimed, waving to you.

You yelped, throwing your pillow at him. He didn't even flinch as it bounced off his face. He looked down at the pillow and back up at you, then chuckled.

"Don't be scared. I'm not going to hurt you," he tried to assure you as he walked towards you.

You were frozen. You wanted to run away, but something was holding you back.

"Who are you?" you stammered as he stopped in front of you and took your hand.

"Please, call me Lolbit," he replied as he kissed the back of your hand, and you blushed.

"Okay . . . Why are you in my house?" you asked, looking him up and down.

Lolbit shrugged. "Eh, got bored."

You were obviously confused. "How did you get in my house?"

"Well, I came in from your TV."

". . . How?"

"I have the ability to enter and exit any television I wish."

"So . . . you're magical?" you wondered, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, you can say that," he snickered.

". . . You want to go upstairs?" you asked, gesturing up the stairs.

"Yeah, sure." He nodded.

You led him up the stairs out of the basement. You were now wide awake, and you probably wouldn't be getting back to sleep anytime soon.

"Hey, you want to watch Rick and Morty?" you suggested.

Lolbit shrugged. "Sure."

You sat down on the couch, patting the spot next to you. Lolbit obliged, sitting down in the spot. You grabbed the remote and picked one of your favourite episodes to play for him.

As the intro played, Lolbit glanced over at you. "So, what are we watching?"

"It's an adult cartoon called 'Rick and Morty.' It's about an old man who's a scientist, who drags his teenage grandson on literally out-of-this-world adventures. If you've ever seen 'Back to the Future,' it's like that, but is more grotesque humor based."

"Ah, okay."

You carried out a bit of a conversation, enjoying watching the show with him. Being honest with yourself, you kind of liked his company.

You soon started to feel tired again. Your eyes felt droopy as you started to close your eyes. You leaned over to rest your head, not knowing that you were lying your head on Lolbit's shoulder.

Lolbit didn't seem to mind, though. He patted your head as you fell asleep.

You woke up to the sound of birds chirping. You yawned as you grabbed your phone. It read '7:30' on the bright screen. Sitting up, you noticed that Lolbit was gone.

"Was that just a dream?" you thought aloud.

You stood up, then shuffled into the kitchen to grab something to eat. You were about to open the fridge, when you noticed a note stuck to the door: 'I hope to see you again soon, sweetheart ;)'. You blushed lightly.

"Well, I guess it wasn't a dream," you told yourself, smiling.
