Stars (Ex Crush X Suicidal Reader)
I do recommend listening to Stop by Dalton Rappitoni (?) while reading this story, it was my inspiration.
A simply lovely, quiet, starry night it was. Almost entirely peaceful; if not for one thing, a poor young girl's falling apart.
(Y/n) had her headphones in, silently crying as she walked amongst the flower in the greenhouse atop her apartment building. She wanted to bask in the presence of something beautiful one last time. She wiped away the collection of tears from her cheek, taking her phone out to check for any messages, the song, the time, anything that might give just a few more seconds. Nothing. She sighed in both sadness and tiredness. She walked out of the greenhouse, looking about it one last time, then over to the edge of the roof, sitting on the ledge, looking up at the stars. Letting go of all the tears she'd been holding back since she found out the truth. (C/n) never loved her; she was practice. She cried at the thought of all the fake promises, broken dreams, and all the lies. "How could I have let myself been so foolish? I knew better. I knew I shouldn't have let myself fall, but..." (Y/n) choked herself up on her tears. She'd thought it over a thousand times, this stupid little act she was about to pull. But it'd be easier for me, I'll be forgotten in a week, she thought to herself as looked at the world down below her dangling legs. She fiddled with a ring on her finger, recalling a beautiful lie (C/n) had told her.
"Hey, (Y/n), why'd you always wear that ring on your wedding finger?" She faintly smiled, "I wear while I wait for someone to replace it." (C/n) took her hand and removed the ring, then placed it back on her hand smiling. (Y/n) stared at him in confusion. "I don't have a ring for you right now, but I want you forever. I love you (y/n)."
(Y/n) did her best to control the tears that now flowed like tiny rives down her cheeks. She tried thinking of something else, thinking of a reason to keep living, she thought about how much she'd hurt those who love her; singing solemnly along with the song playing. She looked up at the stars, the very things she found so much beauty in, and gave them a teary smile. She pulled out her earbuds and spoke in a broken voice, "This is goodbye, goodbye to anyone out there listening. I bid all those lives I touched, and those who've touched mine a final goodbye." (Y/n) said as she stood up from the ledge, placing her phone where she'd sat for days crying, then in shaky steps, she made her way to stand beside it. (Y/n) turned her back to the empty air, tears trickling down her face, she closed her eyes and began to lean back.
"STOP!"
(Y/n)'s eyes flew open to see (C/n) running at her, frantically trying to grab her hand. Too late. Just seconds too late. Her footing slipped, (C/n) brushed (Y/n) fingertips on her way down. He hadn't even noticed. Not a bit. (Y/n) tearfully smiled once more as she hit the ground. She looked and saw (C/n), begging, crying, weeping, and that's when everything stopped.
It had been a just a month after her death and (C/n), like he had since that night, sat atop that very roof looking at the stars crying. Twirling, spinning, fiddling with a small ring.
I'm holding on for my dear life, to the railing on the roof.
And the ground below me looks up and says "What are you gonna do?"
Are you gonna throw it all away, gonna end it all, or not?
And I'm waiting for the phone to ring, to hear your voice again
'cause you're the only one who can save me from this dark and lonely end.
But it's getting colder by the second, surrounded by these forget me nots.
And second thoughts.
And I want them to stop.
Please stop.
Stop.
Please stop.
Well the ground is looking softer, every second that I wait,
and the rain is stinging on my skin, as tears fall down my face.
And I hold your picture in my hand, so you'll be with me when I go.
And I recall all the moments that led me to this, all of my mistakes.
I say goodbye to all my memories, and lies to my face,
'cause I was hurting on the inside, so I hurt myself on the outside too.
But then came you
And you begged me to stop.
please stop.
Stop.
Please stop.
And I walk up to the edge, and I kiss your picture goodbye, and I turn around to lean back and I see you with your hand out screaming stop!
Please stop.
Stop.
Please stop.
But you were just a little too late, I touched your fingers on my way down, falling faster than I fell for you.
And when I look up I see you looking down on me, screaming, crying, begging, pleading, weeping.
That's when everything Stopped.
Stopped.
Stopped.
Stop.
