Walking through the Rockbell household, you walked over to your bed and grabbed the slim and plain looking book that was hidden snugly under the top corner of your mattress. You knew Edward and Alphonse were downstairs eating dinner- or Alphonse was sitting quietly by his older brother as Edward stuffed his face- and Winry was also with them or in her workshop, working on some new automail for Ed.

These times were around the best times when you could grab your diary out and write down whatever was being locked up inside your brain. When it was a full house and the brothers had came back home, you always finished dinner quicker so you could write things down- especially when about ninety percent of your entrees consisted the younger Elric.

You couldn't help it and you weren't exactly sure if you could trust Winry to keep your secret. You were actually scared that she wouldn't keep it to herself and another person would know apart from you. You had to keep it to yourself but you also wanted to do something about your raging thoughts on the boy in a metal armour.

Your diary was already about three-quarters full of your daily to monthly written feelings since you had gotten it about a year ago. It was actually a present from Alphonse and you couldn't stop thinking about the memory that never failed to make you smile.

- Flashback -

It was about two in the afternoon, (Y/N) was watching Ed and Alphonse spar after Ed's automail was fixed - yet again - and (Y/N) was absolutely bored out of her mind. Den was a dog of minimal skills, Winry was obviously in her workshop so she could somehow upgrade Ed's automail to make it even better and more efficient and Granny Pinako was most likely taking a nap. (Y/N) had nothing to do in this house and she hated it.

(Y/N) had been taken in by Granny Pinako when she was only four after she found (Y/N) walking alone in the rain at night. (Y/N) couldn't remember what happened to her family and as soon Granny Pinako heard that, she just couldn't help herself.

Everyone in the Rockbell residence welcomed (Y/N) with open arms and she couldn't help how connected she felt to Alphonse. They all knew that (Y/N) didn't speak much- only speaking when it was necessary and so Alphonse thought he would take it upon himself to buy you a little journal with his saved up pocket money. (Y/N) and Alphonse were only thirteen while Edward and Winry were fourteen but that didn't stop her from accepting the gratuitous gift.

(Y/N) hugged the boy with all the strength she could muster after he spoke, "Uh.. T-This is for y-you.. I-I mean, you d-don't have to l-like it b-but uh.. Ca-cause you don't really talk m-muc- N-Not that it's a bad thing! Bu-Ahh!"

(Y/N) surprised him when she did that and she also immediately regretted it because of his reaction but he knew as well as herself that he was rambling and she was just too grateful. After that two second hug that (Y/N) would've killed for to do again, she ran straight into the house and up to her room so he wouldn't catch a glimpse of her hot cheeks and (Y/N) knew Edward would tease you guys after that.

- Now -

The teasing didn't really stop after that, it was all playful and by good means which only made you smile and blush while you walked away in a rush and you would giggle when you heard Alphonse scolding Edward for causing you to have such a reaction even if was comical to him.

And so tonight you got your diary from your bed and brought it to your desk, you opened it to a fresh page and turned on the lamp in the corner of the desk after craning your neck to make sure that the door was closed- as it was- and pulled out your blue pen and attached it to the page, words appearing on the paper in a second flat as if your small hands had a mind of their own.

'Alphonse,

You were always my first friend, and then my best friend but every time I looked into your soft brown eyes, I couldn't help but want more than that. I don't want to only be your friend but it's perfectly okay with me if you don't want that.

But if it is your friend that I'll have to be, then I will make sure I will be the bestest friend you have ever had. I can't deny these feelings I've had for you for a long time neither can I ignore them but you got me this diary and I'm making the best use out of it. Your name is written into this book almost every single time I write and I know you will never see this but I have to write it all down to get it out of my head.

You, Alphonse Elric, cloud my visions and flood my thoughts- I don't know what to do. I wish I could tell you about my immense attraction to you but for now they should only lay here written in this cheap ink. Maybe when the right time comes.. Hopefully I won't miss my opportunity.'

You sat back in your seat and sighed in content but also dread when thinking about how your pathetic untold confessions were. You always thought of ways you could tell the boy you were completely infatuated with about how you felt but then the thought of rejection and having to continue living with him made you almost want to cry.

"DEN!! Get back he- (Y/N) Get Den!"

Winry's screeching voice filled the quiet house in a flash causing you to yelp in your seat before you ran downstairs as you quickly slammed your bedroom door shut behind you. You ran past Winry and out to the front yard watching as Den playfully wagged his tail when he continued to chase after a butterfly.

Everyone in the house knew that due to the fact that you hardly spoke to people, it lead to become closer to the house pet that had the incapability to speak. They knew that while you found the dog boring- he also provided you with company that was always welcomed and so the canine with a metal leg would always come back to you.

With you gone to get the dog back into the house before the sun came down, the rest of the house dwellers stayed inside to get ready for bed. Alphonse had watched you run after the dog with what would be a small and longing smile on his face but then left when Winry's voice reached his ears, making him snap out of his obvious stare that caused his older brother to smirk knowingly.

"Al, go and get a jacket from (Y/N)'s room please- stupid girl, who runs out there with only a shirt and shorts on with no shoes!?" Winry ordered when she crossed her arms from the front door.

Al nodded and slowly made his way to your room upstairs when he heard Edward's reply, "Maybe someone who just got scared by a screaming lunatic who made her get their dog."

Alphonse slowly turned the knob to your bedroom and watched the door open in silence. Almost in a trans, Al stared at all of your belongings around the floor and the bed and then at the only source of light which stood on your desk that sat behind the window where he could see the sunset.

He discreetly made his way to your wardrobe and tried not to feel like some sort of weirdo when he scrambled through your clothing in a flustered manner. Unable to find anything worthy, he turned to the source of light that dimly lit the room and then saw your plain jacket sitting on the chair just waiting to be grabbed.

Alphonse rushed to the chair in satisfaction and grabbed the clothing before he noticed his name scribbled on some paper on your desk. Alphonse perked up at the sight your handwriting that gracefully spelt out his name and picked up the book when he noticed that he had given this to you a year ago and hadn't seen it since.

Continuing to read, Alphonse felt his eyes going wide when he deducted that he had to be holding your diary. He so badly wanted to put it down and stop, pretending like he hadn't seen anything- knowing how upset you would be with him but as he read over each word- it just kept getting better.

He was frozen when he finished the piece of writing, he could't believe he found this in your room and especially in your own handwriting. It was like a dream come true, only better- like some higher being decided to give him something amazing for once and have mercy on his poor soul. He wanted to put the book down but his hands were visibly shaking so much he was scared he would ruin this moment.

Too Late.

"Alphonse! What are you doing!" You screamed when you barged through the door in fury. Alphonse yelped in fear causing him to drop the book, allowing it to be seen by you when your eyes widened so much Al was worried they would pop out of your head.

"Al, How dare you! That is private!!" You screeched when you dove for the book, managing to grab it faster than the metal armour who jumped away when he tried to politely get it for you. He was shaking now, but not from excitement. He was scared and angry at himself- he felt as if all of your trust in him had all just been destroyed and that was the worst possible thing that could happen to him.

"I-Uh It was a-an accident! I'm s-so-" The poorboy stuttered in fear, not even being able to get an apology out. You were red in the face and stomped over to your desk when Alphonse moved out of the way and towards the exit. You instantly regretted you reaction at the sight of Alphonse holding your diary. You couldn't help but scream because now he knew your biggest secret and now you were going to have to drown in the awkwardness and embarrassment.

You didn't mean to yell but it was honestly just to cover up your real emotions that were shock, fear and sadness. And to make everything just ten times better, you had to make Alphonse scared and yell at him.

You sighed when you gripped the book and erupted a gasp from the silent Alphonse when you dropped the book in the trash can beside you. You plopped onto the chair while slow tears streamed down your face. Alphonse had cautiously walked closer to you, sitting on your bed and waited.

He hated that you were in tears that he didn't even care that you threw his book in the bin. He didn't want to comfort you as much as he craved to because he was slightly afraid of your reaction and so he listened.

"There's no point now. Secret's out and there's nothing that can change it or the outcome." You muttered when you furiously wiped the wetness off of your face with the back of your palm. You sniffled and stared at the dark window, "It's okay Alphonse.. I completely understand- I love being your friend anyway."

You confessed and it was out now, nothing to do and you already accepted the fact that Alphonse wouldn't reciprocate your feelings. His silence only made it worse.

"Wh-... What makes you think I want to be your friend?"

You heart shattered at his hollowed but sweet voice. You tightened you mouth closed to keep your sobs in and let the tears continue wetting your face and down to your chin.

"(Y/N) I don't want to be friends with you, or best friends! I want to be more than that, in fact I hate having to call you my friend, (Y/N)." Alphonse spoke in enthusiasm.
You stilled and turned to face him slowly to see he had moved closer to you, kneeling on the floor beside you so your faces were only centimetres apart.

"What do you say, (Y/N)? I know I'm only metal at the moment but I'll get my body back. And I'll try even harder knowing I'm doing it for you." He spoke in a cute voice that caused your heart to sky rocket. You grinned through the tears, your eyes crinkled which caused yours tears to pour down your face at a faster pace.

Alphonse chuckled quietly at your reaction and simply reached his thick metal arm up to wipe your delicate face of your unwanted tears. You began nodding wordlessly when repeating his words in your head and stood to hug him tightly. His metal dug into your face but you didn't care as long as he hugged back and both of your feelings were equally mutual.

"I think I love you Al."

"I'll do anything for you (Y/N), I love you."
