Today was a sort of relaxation day for the FullMetal Alchemist and his younger brother. Ed sure did have a lot of pent up frustration in his small body and he was ready to sit somewhere and rant all he could towards the younger, metal Alphonse.

"Brother, can we go there? I haven't seen it before." Alphonse asked his older brother while pointing to a small looking cafe that had only recently appeared.
With a tired growl-like response Edward answered his brother and began heading towards the entrance.

The bell above the door dinged to indicate a new customer and you turned to look, freezing in your spot to watch a handsome boy and a metal armour heading inside the cafe you were recently employed at. You watched their every movement as they made their way towards the isolated booth in the back and you only knocked out of your still state when you heard the customer in front of you yelling your name.

You visibly jumped but your face drained of colour when you noticed that you were frozen while pouring a kettle of coffee into your customers cup. The cup was now over-flowing with coffee spilling over the countertop and a yelp escaped your mouth as apologies rushed from your mouth while you hastily cleaned the mess with a rag that was tied to your apron. Your friend who also worked at the cafe began laughing at you but that only added to the pink hue that covered your whole face.

"Oi (Y//N), go take their orders, I'm busy over here." Your friend, (F/N) said. You observed her hand pointing right towards the cause of your mess and you also happened to take notice of how busy she actually wasn't. She shot you a wink and with a deep breath you only grumbles curses to yourself while shakily making your way there as a smile was planted onto your pink face.

"Hello! I'm (Y/N) and I'll be serving you today, what can I get for you two?" You felt proud of your confident voice and the lack of stuttering, which caused you to smile harder but then you grew confused when watching the blonde male with a red face as he seemed like he was avoiding your gaze. He held the menu in front of his face and the metal armour only seemed to emit a giggle at the other boys obvious discomfort.

"U-Uh.. Wha- I.. I-I mean Uh-"

"I think he'll just have a cheeseburger with fries." The armour answered kindly, you smiled at him when you weren't looking at the other boy with furrowed brows. It made you a bit disappointed at how incommodious he seemed and at how hard he seemed to be averting his eyes from yours.

"... And w-what drink? What about you?" You asked, directed to the metal man now when you figured he would be answering for him. The shiny armour looked towards his brother as if waiting for him to answer the pretty lady but he just received a glare and what sounded like a growl from the blonde.

"He'll take a water, thank you. Nothing for me thanks."

Alphonse and Edward both stared at your retreating figure, the metal boy falling into a giggling fit as his brother only grimaced and scolded himself mentally for his pathetic appearance and attempt at talking to a beautiful girl like you.

"Brother! What just happened?! That was actually a bit sad to watch." Alphonse chirped with a giddiness in his voice, feeling amused when analysing how feeble and inferior his older brother looked in front of a girl.

"Arghhh Shut up Al! That was so pathetic I could hit myself in the face right now! What did I just do?! She probably thinks i'm a freak." Edward groaned, his voice muffled through his gloved hands as he literally face-palmed himself.

"I thought you were smoother than that, Brother." Al admitted sheepishly, purposely getting a rile out of Edward only for his amusement. Alphonse Elric had never witnessed his older and more brave brother becoming a flustered mess and he was already laughing at the foreseeable opportunity to be able to constantly tease him about it.

"Shut up, Colonel Mustang is already giving me migraines, I don't need to add you to the lis-"

Silence. That was all that was heard from the table currently occupied by the brothers- the Elric brothers that you were now informed about thanks to (F/N). She briefly told you about them and what she knew; how Edward- the blonde - was FullMetal Alchemist and he was with his younger brother Alphonse who was a soul attached to the armour.

Now that you thought about it, Alphonse did sound a bit hollow from in that shiny metal. But before you could zone out again you were hoping to bring their food whilst they were talking so you could hear the eldest brother speaking coherently and not in stutters or incomplete and failed attempts at sentence.
But alas your wish was not granted, you could overhear them while you were waiting for their food to be cooked in the kitchen but that was it, as soon as arrived to their table it was silent; it was like someone had slapped Edward over the mouth to shut him up or he had simply swallowed up his words.

"Uh.. Your food, Enjoy! Call me- "

"Hmph!"

"... Over if.. i-if uh you have any problems with t-the food."

You rushed to leave but a grip on your hand stopped you. You stilled at the sudden contact of warm cotton engulfing your hand and turned to see it was Edward. The way he chocked during the middle of your sentence only startled you and by the way his brother was stifling his laughter only made you want to go back to your friend now.

"Uh. So-rry but I-I was uh... w-wondering if m-maybe- you w-would..."

"... Would..?" You uttered questionably, feeling his gip soften before it tightened as he practically yelled for the whole place to hear.

"W-would.... G-Get ME A BLUEBERRY MUFFIN PLEASE." You jumped and stared wordlessly as Alphonse was still but then bursted into laughter. Edward was also still, his entire being was frozen with wide eyes that pierced into yours and you blushed at the beauty of his golden orbs. Nevertheless you nodded quietly and retrieved a blueberry muffin for the gorgeous boy, a definite slump in your walk when you had your hopes up only to be shot down.

Why would the FullMetal Alchemist ask you out on a date anyway?
Edward couldn't believe himself. He had totally humiliated himself and blew every chance he thought he had with you straight out of the window. It didn't help that Roy had been on his case all week and Alphonse wouldn't stop laughing at his failure.

- Time Skip Months Later -

Months had passed and you continued to watch Edward mindlessly saunter through the cafe whether it be with or without his younger brother. You felt delighted every time you watched the way he seemed to be speaking to himself and slapping himself softly when he seemed to get something wrong as he walked down the street to the cafe.

You had worked continuously so you could live comfortably but Edward always made the tired days go by in a way better mood. Edward observed the way you got flustered quite easily but you didn't share that much about yourself. He watched with squinted eyes that had you turning into a crumbling mess when you spoke to (F/N) or a customer and always seemed to be smiling. He couldn't differentiate between a fake or real smile and that only aggravated him.

Edward had also gotten better at speaking to you now. He would often greet you and talk about his day after he asked about yours. He took notice of how vague you were and took the advantage to talk to (F/N) about it when he acknowledged your absence in the cafe that day.

"(Y/N).. She's a tough girl, she's had it rough though it's hard for her to get close to others. I can see the way she looks at you though Edward, she adores you but just for the love of God, promise me you won't hurt her. She can't go through that again."

Edward's eyes furrowed and his back straightened as the words reached his ears. He was now very intrigued at the person or event that would cause such a petite yet mesmerising girl like yourself to become so.. scared. Edward felt himself getting angry and irritated at the thought of something affecting you this hard to still be able to have an effect.

"What happened?" Edward ordered stubbornly. (F/N) watched with curious eyes at the way the blondes fists were clenched by his sides and how he appeared to be biting on his lips to keep his annoyance inside. (F/N) smiled at this and it confused Ed until she asked, "You really care about her, don't you?"

Blush instantly covered Ed's face, not expecting the question but also not being able to hide the obvious adoration he had towards you. (F/N) only giggled excitedly for a second before she answered Edward's questions, not wanting to keep him any longer because of his well known short-temper.

"That's great Ed.. But uh.. Don't tell (Y/N) I told you this but she was in a relationship with this guy. He was really sweet to her, you know..? We all saw how much she loved him but then we saw it, she began to change. (Y/N) started becoming closed off and detached in a way- it made me angry because she was really distant.

Then one night after I closed the cafe, I was walking home and she had been walking with me until she turned down another street to her house.. I heard yelling from there and checked it out and it was her boyfriend, he was screaming at her about being late or something. He called her these awful things and I swear he was about to swing at (Y/N)."

Edward couldn't believe his ears. He was slightly relieved when he heard that you weren't actually abused in the relationship but the fact that you were in a verbally abusive relationship pulled at his heart strings like nothing had before. (F/N) swore that she saw tiny tears in Ed's eyes and she knew he was angry, beyond angry- he was downright furious- how could someone do that to such a precious angel; as seen in Edward's perspective.

Without another word Edward walked out to cool off and (F/N) knew she made the right decision to tell Edward about you.

- Time Skip One Week Later -

You were back at work in the cute cafe you loved with (F/N) and you were already waiting for the day to end so you could see Edward where you always met him to walk to the park or to go home.

Hours passed and you seemed to be in a robotic mode, fetching food for people and tending to their needs as they ate with their loved ones and families.

The time had finally reaching seven in the evening and that was the end of your shift, changing out of your uniform you slipped on some jeans, a shirt with a jacket and waved goodbye to (F/N).

You slowly walked home, feeling a bit down in the dumps about achieving no visits from Edward or his little brother- but speak of the devil -

"Alphonse? Hey, what are you doing here?" You asked with a smile on your face. The younger brother always managed to bring a smile to your face but Edward did a better job at it- not that it was Alphonse's fault.

"Come on (Y/N), let's go see brother." He replied in a happy tone, his happy mood radiated to you and you couldn't help but follow mindlessly with.a curious smile on your face.

Minutes passed and you made it to the park Edward and yourself usually went to be together and hang out, a lot of the times you like to believe it was more than hanging out but you had to keep your hopes from increasing too high.

A gasp escaped your mouth at the sight of Edward standing in his usual attire of a black singlet, red jacket, black pants and black booths with his golden tresses in a loose braid. He smiled at you sheepishly as he nervously scratched the back of his neck at the sight of you.

You approached him slowly, taking note of the tree that was lit up with white fairy lights and the candles that were surrounding a checkered carpet on the ground. Alphonse had seemed to have suddenly disappeared and you only walked close to Edward to see how nervous he looked. He was biting his lips with wide eyes and red face. He was fidgety and you only took notice of the picnic basket on the ground when he wordlessly gestured to it, plopping himself on the ground.

"Y-.. You did this for me..?" You uttered quietly, seating yourself across from him as you gained the boy's attention who stared at you like he was in a dream. He nodded and smiled at you, grinning with his eyes closed and that contagiously brought a smile to your face.

"Wow, this is amazing, Ed.." You spoke, breaking the silence as the full moon shined over the two of you. Edward shrugged like it wasn't a big deal and answered, causing those familiar butterflies to erupt in your stomach.

"Well you deserve this and more (Y/N)." He rasped out after he visibly gulped.

You giggled in reply, shaking your head slightly as your lips curved up to reply with those words that made Edward feel like he was on top of the world,

"You're an Idiot."

Because you don't say "I love you, " like a normal person.
Instead you'll laugh, shake your head and give a little smile, and say,
"You're an Idiot." If you tell him that he's an idiot, he's a lucky man.

And with that, the both of your lips connected and you entered a new era of love you never thought you would find and Edward couldn't wait to show you how much of a true princess you were to him and show you how you really deserved to be treated.
