Where Natsu and his mute best friend have an amazing relationship
(E/C) - Eye Colour
My reward for finishing this one shot was the last episode of Season 1; Fairy tail... Teehee:)

You don't exactly remember what happened. All you did know, was that when you were about seven years old, you were left outside of a guild- bloodied and beaten.
Your parents abandoned you there for unknown reasons and just as you were well on your way to kick the bucket- an young man found you.
He had pink hair and you remember seeing what looked like a little, blue cat flying around him. The concern and worry in his eyes actually woke something inside you, forcing you to fight that little bit longer so he could take you to the infirmary where they fixed you up.
Ten years later, here you were apart of the Fairy Tail guild that was now your home.
The people took care of you and treated you like family no matter what. They couldn't find out why you never talked- that caused some of them to become a bit cautious around you but the guy with the pink hair and kind eyes never seemed to doubt you.
His eyes and his adorable face actually convinced you to stay, no matter how many times you wanted to leave because you always thought you were a burden. The fact that your own parents abandoned you always stuck in the back of your mind and always held you down, making you think that everyone else would do that to you too.
And so, later on the guild grew fairly comfortable by your quiet and peaceful presence and they actually were okay with you being a selective mute.
It also gave them the opportunity to look into your harmless eyes and express their deepest thoughts and feelings. You always allowed them to anyway seeing as how you wouldn't speak and you were happy that they could freely confide in you.
Though you wouldn't speak- most of them could read you like a book. It often annoyed you but it also made you happy in some way- like they decided to get to know you enough to know what you were thinking and what you would possibly say if you could.
There was one person though, the one person who saved you and brought you back to life- literally and metaphorically.
Natsu Dragneel - the fire dragon slayer who was always attached to your hip. The guild actually grew worried when you two weren't together. He spoke for you and to you and the fact that he saved your life gave you more reason to give into his charms and owe your life to him.
You could swear that every time you saw his wide, goofy smile or his determined and assertive eyes that you were falling in love with him more and more everyday.
It just seemed to all click and it felt so right but you were scared that your emotions and your eyes would give away your true feelings.
Speak of the devil, and he shall arrive;
"(Y/N)! I'm back!"
You heard his loud voice through the guild from your seat at the bar where Mira was casually speaking to you. You weren't really sure what about at this point but since you couldn't speak, she just shrugged it off and continued because of your calm and comforting nature.
You stared at Mira and then back at Natsu who staring right into your (E/C) eyes. Mira grew a knowing smirk on her face when the red blush took over yours.
She knew something you thought she didn't. She was practically the Fairy Tail match maker after all, but you never told anyone about who you might like or even love so you pretty much assumed that everyone in the guild thought you were just friends and wanted nothing more with anyone.
Her smile grew bigger when she noticed Natsu rushing your way with his reward from his mission he just returned from. Natsu confused you because of how much he loved to fight and go on missions - mostly to prove himself as the strongest wizard in the guild- but then whenever you gave him the puppy eyes to join him, he never once let you go with him.
At first you felt excluded and thought he believed you weren't strong enough. It hurt to think that because of how long you were in the guild.
All those negative thoughts ended that one night though, the night you don't think you could ever forget.
~ Flashback ~
(Y/N) had read Natsu's mission he snatched from the request board and so she rushed to her cozy, little home to get her things. It was a simple mission- fight some amateur wizards with a big enough ego to think they could take over the world. It was probably just a one - day job.
But then Natsu just had to chase after you and climb in your room, grabbing your arms to stop you from packing anymore things. He sat you down and he wouldn't look at you- most likely to avoid your puzzled gaze and the puppy eyes you held directly at him.
He just sighed and looked down, a shadow blocking you from seeing his beautiful, onyx eyes as he spoke in a raspy voice like it pained him to speak his next sentence.
"(Y/N), you aren't coming with me."
You held your breath and looked at his chest in a heated stare. How dare he? Did he think he could control you? You opened your mouth to emphasis that you in fact were coming but he wasn't finished.
"You have to stay at the guild and wait for me there, give me something to look forward to.. You know?
"I can't fight and worry about you at the same time. It's for your own protection and I don't know what I would do if you got hurt.. Again."
You only sighed, eyes softening when you remembered the night you arrived covered in your own blood and grew tired- already knowing how persistent and obdurate the pink- haired dragon slayer could be.
You hugged him and let him go- a tiny smile creeping onto your face when you thought about how you were the person he looked forward to seeing when he came home.
~ Present ~
You watched as Natsu dashed towards you, growing astonished at the sight of Natsu actually running past Gray without picking a fight.
But, of course Gray wouldn't take that from the fire wizard.
"Aye, How's it goin' Flame-for-Brains?" He chuckled out loudly. Natsu tried- he really did- in fact you saw his eye twitching as he slowed down to a standstill.
"What was that, you walking icicle?!"
That was the beginning of another fight. Chairs and even tables thrown, magic exploding from everywhere as you huffed, turning around to drink your chilled water while Mira continued to watch you with that sickly sweet smirk of hers.
You raised your brow in question when you saw her, she giggled in reply and said something you never expected from your dear friend.
"You love him a lot, don't you?"
You jumped, trying to smack your hand on her mouth before you realised the whole sentence had already escaped her mouth.
You huffed again, crossing your arms in defeat because you already knew she could read you like an open book on display. You turned away, face exploded with blush and put crossed arms over your head that was now laying face down into the cool surface of the bar counter top.
The sudden lack of destructiveness behind you then gained your attention when you turned around to see half the guild knocked out and the other half- like Gray, Natsu, Erza and Lucy all looking like a mannequin in the middle of a fight while their eyes were all on you.
Natsu quickly escaped Gray's choke hold and went to go to you before you bolted out the door and into the backyard as everyone watched with tears in your eyes. You didn't want to have to deal with the humiliation of being put in the friendzone, or especially having everyone find out you love the boy who only loves you like a best friend.
While you were already up your favourite tree outside, Gray had to punch Natsu in the face to the knock the shocked and bewildered emotions out of him and make him do something about the elephant in the room; talking to (Y/N).
Mira sighed, disappointed at what she had done- making you cry definitely wasn't part of the plan. Everyone knew this and they hated it when you cried, especially from their first hand experience from when you were just a child who wished for her parents to come back.
Gray muttered out a 'Finally' while Lucy and Erza nodded in acknowledgment to the Ice Mages' words watching Natsu sprint- or actually bolt out the guild to find you.
Natsu found you just where he knew you would be; in that tree where you always hid from everyone as a kid. Whether it be in solace or just from the peace and tranquil in the tree watching the ocean- this tree was always your go-to happy place.
He saw you huddled into a fetal position on one of the thickest branches where he caught you wiping some fresh tears off your perfect face.
He sighed to himself in anger before he leaped onto the branch- achieving to scare the be-Jesus out of you when he grabbed onto you to prevent you from falling. Again you felt those dazzling tingles shoot through you at this touch and you wished you could tell him to leave you be in peace.
"(Y/N) why did you run?" He asked in a tired-like manner, he probably was a bit tired because of his mission.
You looked at him, rubbing your eyes dry from the few tears that rolled down your smooth skin and gazed at him a questionable glance, 'What do you mean?'
You saw his brows furrow while he looked at your eyes- it felt like ages as he analysed you, determining what to say and how to just so he could speak out everything he wanted to in the right way.
"I already knew you loved me (Y/N). It was actually pretty easy to see."
He continued to stare at every inch of your face- examining how you would react to his bold confession- he knew.
He already knew you had fallen in love and he did nothing!? Perhaps this was his way of politely turning you down- letting you know he was perfectly fine with staying best friends.
"I know you always stare at me, watching me speak and fight- eat and even sit and do nothing. It's like you're constantly investigating me, I don't know but I like it."
You stared with your breath stuck in your throat that was dying to be released but he continued talking and you still weren't sure on how you were supposed to feel.
"I like it because it means you aren't looking at anyone else- not some other guy you might like or something like that. It makes me feel good and special and stuff.. It just annoys me sometimes when you never notice how I stare at you too."
You gasped listening to the sincerity behind his words and the truth held in his onyx eyes. What was he trying to say and why wouldn't he hurry and say it.
He smiled lightly- blush growing on his cheeks while his pink hair flowed elegantly in the afternoon breeze. His hand that was still on your arm from when you nearly fell, reached up and stroked your semi- dried cheek, his finger grazing from the corner of your eye to your jawline.
"I stare at how you bite your lips when you get frustrated when someone doesn't understand what you mean. I stare at how you always mess your your little hands when your around me; it's cute to be honest. I- I stare at how you are always worried, biting your nails whenever i'm about to leave for a mission and then how you look like your going to break into tears of happiness when I get back."
"I notice the way you look at the guild and I love that face you make when your thinking about us- your family and how we have all grown together, loving each other like a true family. Dysfunctional and crazy but that's what makes us one of a kind, right?"
"I love it when you always tuck me in when I sneak into your room to go to sleep next to you and I love watching you cuddle into my body for extra warmth. I love it when you use your puppy eyes to get what you want but you never argue because you know how damn stubborn I am. I guess.. (Y/N).. I- I just.. Lo-love You.."
You were completely still- hearing all these words just spill from Natsu Dragneel's mouth and into your ears, it was like a dream come true.
It was such an amazing feeling and it was just right.
Natsu continued to stare, watching emotions wash over your face like a wave; Happiness, shock, awe and lastly love.
In it's most purest and authentic form he saw Love in your eyes. Your eyes that were the windows into your soul.
All he could do was smile, smile so wide and with glee that it grew contagious and spread to your face. You smiled and it mirrored his- his grip on your jawline tightening a little, pulling you into him to abduct your lips with his.
The kiss that started out gentle and innocent soon became full of passion and raw truth when you both instantly melted into it and you loved the way your skin lit on fire at his touch.
You didn't need to say it and he didn't need to hear it because it was both shared and felt in that kiss;
'I Love You.'
