Where Gray gives you a cold surprise.

You had experienced all types of weather- from sunny to raining and from wind to lightening but you had never seen what you often heard what people called; Snow.

You always asked what it was because of how much you loved the weather no matter what it was- hot or cold; someone always caught you just laying outside basking in the beautiful weather of the day. Sometimes you even fell asleep to the cold breeze of the night and awoke to the warm glow of the morning sun- those times were your favourite memories.

Living in the desert meant a dry summer and dry winter for you all year round ever since you were a child. It also meant that you had never witnessed Snow. People often spoke of it and you were amazed at the thought of it.
You didn't mind living in the desert though because you were just okay as long as you had a roof over your head and food in your stomach everyday.

You were a person of the simpler things in life. In fact, you thought that was your favourite thing about you. Loving the simple things made the smile appear on your face much more often than usual.

But that all changed when a few years ago in the desert when Mother Nature had decided to stop providing you and your family with the much needed resources you had to have to survive.
Droughts occurred and their was no more water. Diseases spread from rotting corpses and others lost the fight to go on and that was what also took your family away from you.

- Time Skip a couple of years later -

With no home or food, you had settled in the forest and saw a little man watching you practice your magic.

"I've had enough!" The short and old man exploded, leaping into the air as he crazily waved his hands around making you flinched away at the sudden action, his words suddenly made sense in your ears and just when you were about to question him, he began to elaborate.

"You are coming with me! And you are joining my guild! And there I will take care of you and I wont take no for an answer! There are many wizards there and You, are an exquisite wizard! We will become your refuge and your family. That is that!"

Tears stung at your eyes as you watched the man, nodding your head furiously to his request while mumbling grateful words. Reaching for the man, he accepted your hand and you took the chance to pull him into you- hugging the soul out of him. He petted your head whispering things about how you were safe now and you continued to cry wondering how this all happened.
After the tears were dry the man introduced himself as Master Makarov who you then later learned was the Master of the guild known as Fairy Tail. He nurtured you back to health and then proceeded to give you your guild mark stamp in your favourite colour, wherever you chose on your body.

You were then introduced to the Fairy tail wizards and they welcomed you with open arms, the Master informed them of your back story and you proceeded to tell them about your magic and how the Master saved you from your downward spiral.

-Time Skip to several months later -

In the guild hall, everyone had grown to like you very much but there was four people who definitely stood out; Natsu- and his blue little cat, Happy, Lucy, Erza and lastly Gray.
They invited you to go on missions and you went on amazing adventures with them.

Everyone had learned how you practiced Elemental magic, which meant you could control; Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Your friends were amazed and they knew not to get on you bad side since you could practically get them back as long as the elements were present.

Out of all of your friends, you had grown closest to Gray and you weren't sure why. Maybe it was because of how being close to him made your heart go crazy or how your face always seemed to heat up in his presence. You weren't sure why this happened and sometimes you even thought you were sick. But then when he left it all went away but instead of those unusual feeling, you were filled with a deep sense of dread and longing for the boy with deep blue eyes.

You guessed you just loved to be around him because he practiced Ice Magic- and that was the closest thing you got to Snow. You always wondered about snow, how it would feel or taste. What it looked like and how it occurred.

When you asked people they simply looked at you weirdly wondering why you would ask such a simple yet odd question. No one really answered what you wanted though, but Gray made it seem like you were close to Snow, and the thought of snow made you significantly happy.

One day Gray had found you where he always did when no one knew your whereabouts; outside in the backyard of the guild, laying on your back right where the water met the shore. He knew of how much you loved to stare at the sky and watch the colours change throughout the day.

At first he thought it was odd when he found you staring wide eyed with a smile on your face at the sight of a cloudless sky, rain or thunderstorms with lightening and thunder, rain and wind. He didn't question it- he simply stared at the way you eyes lit up and your smile twitch even wider.
He also noticed how it always looked like you were expecting more- something you had always been waiting for to drop from the sky, and whenever the storms finally stopped he always noticed the slight slump in your shoulders.

Gray never asked you about it though because that meant you would find out that he was watching you- he couldn't handle it if you found out, and god knows what would happen if Natsu and Happy found out.

Gray finally reached you smiling when he saw that you still hadn't noticed him coming towards you and sat by you, muttering out, "(Y/N), I wanna show you something."

You jumped, startled at the sudden voice and felt the familiar quickening of your heart beat. You looked at him and then narrowed your eyes when you saw the blush appear on his cheeks as he kept his gaze locked on your hand- holding his out waiting for you to grab it.

Seconds pass and you grab his hand, wondering why they tingled so much at his touch but shook it off and followed him letting him lead you into the forest.

Finally reaching a spot, he stopped suddenly and went behind you to place his cold hands over your eyes and you smile unconsciously, placing your warmer hands over his and loving the way your warmness and his coldness felt entwined.

He forced you to keep moving and you suddenly asked, "Why can't I look where I'm going, Iceman?"

You couldn't literally see him but you could practically see the smirk growing on his face when he reached down to place his mouth near your ear- lips grazing your skin while he whispers huskily, "It's a surprise, (N/N)."

You nodded you head and suddenly moved somewhere where the temperature dropped drastically and it brought goosebumps to your skin. Suddenly your vision came back as Gray now stood beside you watching you take everything in and couldn't help the smile grow on his face. He loved the way you eyes lit up in happiness and he loved the way your mouth curved up into a big toothy grin- giggles escaping you.

You stared at the little area you entered that used to be full of green plants and colourful flowers, now coloured in light blue ice sculptures and figurines. Ice was everywhere- coverings everything and you couldn't help the laughter coming out of your mouth as you ran into the small area that only held the blue coldness.

Gray watched with a huge smile now- loving the way you appreciate something as simple as ice and felt his face grow hot thinking about how you loved his work, what he had made especially for you, what he wouldn't so for anyone else.

You touched everything you could and felt the slick coolness under your finger tips, your cheeks hurting from the smiling, you abruptly turned around to watch Gray watching you with so much fondness in his eyes. You went to him and surprised him into a hug, having him wrap you in his arms just as tight before making you lean back so he could kiss you softly on the forehead.

You heart went crazy and you prayed that Gray couldn't hear it but he smiled anyway feeling proud to have placed the blush on your face. With your hands still wrapped around his waist you whispered to him, "Thank you Gray, it's amazing."

Yet it was still there. The familiar dimness in your eyes, though you looked so content and filled with joy- their was still something missing. Gray yearned to make it go away but he didn't want to ask what it was because he wanted to show that he really knew you and that he really cared for you- maybe even show that he cared for you as more than a friend.

He stared at your face with furrowed eyebrows and your face suddenly mirrored his, wondering what suddenly went wrong as he seemed to be thinking about something in deep thought. Thinking long and hard he wanted to figure it out for himself to let you know that he really listened to you.

Listened... He thought about everything you spoke about ever since you became a fairy tail wizard and then thought about your face whenever the weather turned dark and gloomy or cold and wet.

Uh Huh! He got it! The only weather that you hadn't seen since you had come to Fairy Tail- he also remembers when you said you used to live in a desert. With a jump, he ran to the middle of the iced up area and watched your puzzled and slightly disappointed expression- because of the sudden lack of touch.

With a flick of his wrist and a concentrated look on his face, only seconds later he looked up and a small smile grew at the sight of the tiny white specks begin to slowly flow through the air towards the ground.
You looked up at the sky and saw them, suddenly shrieking and running into Gray for protection of the white specks you had never seen before. You took cover under his arm and he simply laughed while watching you and he took the opportunity to wrap his arm around your neck and pull you into him.

With a tilt of his head, he placed his cold lips onto your frozen ones and pulled away a second later to watch your dazed and shocked face. He smiled gently and proceeded to kiss your forehead and softly whispered against your skin,

"(Y/N)... It's called Snow."

You gasped and pulled away from him quickly, your breath getting caught in your throat when snow began to lay gracefully in your hair and on your red nose. You looked up and felt them fall onto your face like tiny angel kisses sent from heaven. You smiled as small tears stung the corners of your eyes and opened your palm out watching snow melt into your hand and turn into a liquid.

"It's.. Water?"

Gray laughed at your child-like antics and nodded.

"How did you know?" You questioned quietly; referring to your love for snow, as you began to take slow steps in his direction.

"It's an odd thing to love, but you love the weather (Y/N), especially Snow."

And with that you jumped into his arms and placed your lips onto his and for a little longer this time.
