Protector.. Admirer.. Maybe Something More?

No one knew who you were, meaning you were great at your job. No one even knew you actually existed which meant you were basically a professional at your job. You didn't necessarily get chosen for this job, you actually appointed it to yourself.

It wasn't even actually a job, it was like.. a mission. Yeah, a mission that lasted your whole life. You tried to stop and find some other meaningful thing to do with your life but that boy.. he drew like the sunlight that drew a flower out to bloom in the spring. He, himself was like the Earth and you were the moon. You were attracted to him like the moon was drawn into the earth. The attraction could be compared to gravity.

It was almost like he supplied the gravity to keep you around and you loved that you could be there for him. Every night you went to bed and every day you woke up, he was there in your mind. You still remember the way his eyes gazed into yours causing you to melt and become completely still all at the same time.

They way his high-pitched child voice spoke out your name gave you chills and you never wanted him to stop saying it. His warm hand held your fragile one, his skin was cool but the embrace was warm to your soul. His smile made every thing seem.. brighter, in a way only he could do. You couldn't understand why he made you like this but you knew that one day you had to approach him and find out.

You didn't want to seem like a stalker- if anyone saw or asked, it would definitely seem that way but it wasn't the case at all. In fact, you were actually really lucky no one knew about you because you had no idea how to explain it to them. It wasn't stalking- it was like... Protecting. Or maybe even admiring him from afar and in secret. You were always with him but you could never find the courage to talk to him. You actually had multiple chances to speak to him but you were afraid that your overwhelming feelings would scare him away.

You had no idea why you felt so protective towards him, it was almost like love, you could swear it was sometimes when you looked at him but you weren't sure and you didn't think you were old enough to say such a deep and meaningful thing.

You remember when you were younger, when you spent your childhood with Ur, Lyon and Gray. Ur had lost her daughter and you had lost your best friend. She was so young but you almost felt like her sister and Ur was heartbroken but she knew she couldn't dwell on it. So in the process of moving forward, Ur had suddenly gained a child named Lyon as her pupil.

You weren't so much a pupil, you were more like Ur's company and she always welcomed you after she had found you crying in the snow- almost at the brink of hypothermia.
But she didn't know you actually liked the cold and you were perfectly fine.

Anyway, fast forward a long while later and Gray Fullbuster had come into the picture. His presence knocked the oxygen out of you and from the first moment you laid your eyes on him, something clicked inside of you. He was very persistent and stubborn but he was also distant and hard-headed. You liked that very much about him but you wished he would let you get close to him.

As time passed he became very powerful and his ice magic was expanding immensely. But he was doing it all for the wrong reasons and then his anger and revenge made him go after Deliora as soon as he found out where it was. That demon monster killed his family and he couldn't let go of the past.

You didn't understand why he wanted to kill such a strong demon for his family so badly because your father had abandoned you about seven years ago and you had no one else but you wouldn't let him go on at it alone.

You ran after Gray without his knowledge and then watched as Ur and Lyon also showed up. Deliora had torn up the village and Gray was determined to end it. Lyon was knocked out cold and all you could do was embrace Gray in a hug which he returned just as tight as he and yourself watched Ur sacrifice her body to trap the demon.

Gray was torn up, but so were you. Ur was like a mother to you after she took you in and now she was gone. You disappeared that day, Gray was devastated but you never went too far from him.

You watched him grow into the man he was today, he was a strong ice mage in the guild of Fairy Tail. You wanted to join and be with him but you were too much of a chicken to do anything about it. The thought of being apart of a guild seemed really appealing but you also enjoyed your continuous silence in solitary.

One day though, it all went wrong. None of this was planned and all of the dragon slayers senses were heightened. Especially yours.
You saw Gray's team which included Erza, Lucy and Natsu and then Juvia had to come into the picture and she almost caused you to lose dominion over your dragon self because of how she was with Gray.

But this time It was only Juvia and Gray with Natsu and Lucy. They had taken an easy mission for a simple and reasonable amount of jewel, it didn't go how it was planned though. You saw as Natsu was passed out and Lucy was bleeding quite a bit, Juvia was doing her best to protect Gray but she was also slightly wounded. Lastly these monsters would go to the Ice mage but you knew that he was outnumbered and it seemed like he knew that too.

And so without thinking about any strategy or plan, you pulled you hood of your cape over you head tighter to make sure your face was well hidden. You rushed out from the tree and jumped onto the ground making your presence known. The monster turned and saw you, smiling like a hunter that had found it's prey, they came closing in before you screamed, hoping your magic wasn't as rusty as you thought it would be.

"ICE DRAGON ROAR!"

Most of the monsters were already down now, only a couple of weak ones left having not expected a small and frail looking person to hold that much power and magic.

Gray was left on the floor, hiding himself from the ice magic you used. He grew puzzled and shocked at your abrupt company. He watched you in a cautious way, unsure of your appearance and what or who you fought for.

Many more ice magic was shot from you, getting stronger every time you thought about these monster trying to hurt Gray and how they would've succeeded if you weren't there. You got angrier and angrier, screaming in agony- letting your magic shoot out from every where. You had now gained the attention of Natsu, Lucy and Juvia who had woken up to watch what was happening. Natsu grew defensive when he smelled the other dragon slayer but he couldn't move from shock when he saw how powerful you were.

The monsters were gone and you continued to scream until the oxygen had left your body filling the void of the eerily quiet night.
Gray furrowed his brows, breathing in deeply when he saw you and caught a glimpse of your smooth, porcelain face. He sucked a breath in, hoping to God that you were who he thought you were.

After you screams of anguish had come to a halt you fell to your knees, watching the dark sky that you had grown to love. Letting your hood fall back onto your shoulders you glance at the four different pairs of eyes that watched you. Letting your self be known you slowly got yourself on your feet, dragging them to Natsu first.

He looked at you in question but the sincere and painful emotions in your eyes let his walls crumble down so you could heal him with your ice. Next was Lucy who thanked you in a painful voice but smiled anyway, causing you to smile back at her strength and kindness. Juvia was still on alert at your sudden entrance but Natsu quietly called out to her and let her know you were okay.

Lastly was Gray. The man was now on his feet, panting from every thing that went down just moments ago. He was amazed at the power you emitted and was even more astounded at how you were still able to heal his friends in such a weak state.
The familiar nervousness swelled inside your body, you quietly approached him and avoided his eyes,

"A-are you hurt?"

He swore he remembered that voice but he had no idea where from. He swore he could remember your face and why it seemed so important to him, that face he missed so much- but the whereabouts were unknown. He couldn't remember and you could see that in his beautiful eyes. He shook his head and you sighed in relief, passing him a gentle smile that he oddly returned.

You turned to leave seeing no point for you being needed there any longer before Natsu cheerfully stopped you, "Hey! Dragon slayer- where you going?"

You stilled and watched him like he had grown an extra head- he chuckled at your face and gestured you to come forward to him.

"You should join our guild." Before Natsu could speak, Gray had spoken in a deep voice, you watched him puzzled as he looked at you nervously, scratching the back of his neck while Juvia glared daggers at him and then at yourself.

"...(Y/N)"

Your colour drained from your face as you could hear your heart going absolutely crazy. You were surprised you weren't going into cardiac arrest while Gray continued to stare into your (E/C) eyes.
Tears stung your eyes when you got closer to him and you craved to feel that warm coolness on your skin again. Gray embraced you in a hug that had you nuzzling your face into his neck and wetting his suddenly bare body apart from underwear.
You would've said something if you weren't already used to his odd habits he had picked up from Ur.

But that didn't matter because He remembered you.

- Time Skip back to the guild, Next Day -

After introductions and having Mira-Jane stamp you; officially making you a member of the guild, as authorised by the Fairy tail master, yourself and the other Dragon slayers had to stay in the guild hall while everyone else had entered the masters office for some kind of private discussion.

- In the Masters office -
(Third POV)

"Now, everyone settle down," Master Makarov began, "As you all should know mating season is approaching rather quickly. And due to the fact that we have a new female dragon slayer; one of the boys will most likely be unconsciously picked as a mate."

Gray watched with worried eyes as everyone began to freak out, much to the masters annoyance but he simply shut them up as he continued to speak.

"I assume the signs will begin to show now so everyone please stay safe and be cautious- especially around (Y/N), who happens to be a very powerful Ice Dragon Slayer. That is all, you're dismissed."

Gray didn't miss the way the Master watched him when he uttered that sentence.

Wizards continued to chat about the dragon slayers and their enhanced hormones due to mating season. As Gray walked over to an empty table he noticed Juvia following him as usual, he heard some wizards speaking about how they would definitely enjoy (Y/N) choosing them as there mate, angering the ice mage while he thought about (Y/N) when they were little and the massive heart-stopping and breath-taking crush he had on her. It was almost as if nothing had changed as soon as he saw her eyes when she swooped in to save him.

Sitting alone in his table now, without clothes- not noticing because of his mind being full of a certain dragon slayer he suddenly heard a woman's yelp and a loud thump reach his ears.
His head shot up to his right to see (Y/N) seated extremely close to him and a knocked out Juvia laying on the floor about a metre away.

"Hello Gray" (Y/N) smiled cheerfully as she hooked her arm around Gray's, tugging him closer if that was even possible.

Gray watched in amazement and shock- his eyes moving from Juvia and then to (Y/N)'s. A huge smile then covered his face as he laughed, not surprised at all to witness the first signs of mating season in (Y/N) towards him.

And he wouldn't have it any other way.
