Limerence > Gray Fullbuster <

You took naïve and inexperienced to a whole other level.

Depression, anxiety and stress had become common emotions for you to have the pleasure of enduring. You don't know why it begun but you did know that it all started back when you took your first steps into the Fairy Tail guild.

You remembered watching multiple wizards fighting as you made your way to the bar where a white haired woman approached you. Her beauty mesmerised you but her kindness and gentle smiling face threw you off. You sat at one of the stools and turned your back to her after introducing yourself, to watched the people scuffle. You asked the lovely woman if you two should stop them but she said that this was a normal thing that happened daily.

With raised eyebrows, you shrugged your shoulders as you continued to observe when sudden yelling stood out more than the rest of them.

"I'LL KICK YOUR BUTT YOU PERVY STRIPPER"

"THEN COME AT ME YOU FLAME HEAD"

You turned your head to see a pink haired boy with a vest and no undershirt, he had a white scarf decorated with black stripes and he was fighting another male who had absolutely no clothing except for his underpants and he had darker hair, almost black.

You first watched them fight that stupid brawl about three years ago now. Everyone then noticed the unfamiliar girl sitting at the bar with Mira and that caught the Masters attention. You asked to join the guild due to your fire magic and with a nod of his head, Mira got out the guild stamp and placed your official membership on your body.

Your fire magic caught the attention of Natsu; the pink haired boy who turned out to be a fire dragon slayer. He always demanded a duel with you to see who would win and just to get him off of your back you would already admit that he would be crowned the winner just to boost his ego- automatically earning a hard knock on the head from Erza.

Erza Scarlett was an S-class wizard who was also apart of Natsu's, Gray and Lucy's team. She was one of the strongest wizards in Fairy Tail and you were extremely happy when you found that she had taken some sort of liking toward you.
Natsu had also became one your closest friends because of the delicious fire you delivered for him to consume. That also made you very well needed in the mission they went on so Natsu could regain his strength faster.

Lucy was just an all round friendly and bubbly person who you connected with immediately. You found her celestial spirits to be rather awesome and she loved that someone could appreciate her spirits as much as she could. She also loved it when you socialised with them and actually became friends with Aquarius so the blue mermaid wasn't so tough on her.

The man who puzzled who was Gray though. The man who had a bad habit of stripping his clothes off made you feel weird on the inside and you had no idea what it was or why it was happening to you. At first you thought that maybe you were getting sick; maybe a cold or something but it turned out that whenever you weren't around Gray all those bizarre emotions went away but instead you were filled with immediate sadness and longing for the dark haired mage.

You then thought that maybe it was his ice and coldness affecting you or your immune system. You thought about how fire and Ice don't mix so maybe the two of you as people didn't mix. Watching Natsu and Gray fight just added to your logic but they also got along like they were brothers who often argued just like brothers would.

These mixed emotions and feelings confused you and made you angry at the same time. No one else seemed to have these feelings in the guild and you didn't want to ask in case people just thought you were going off the rails. Your mother and father never really liked you or never even really liked each other for that matter. Living in your previous home with them was just a roller coaster of torture and numbness where all they made you do was practice your magic to get stronger.

Your parents were always so distant towards each other and you hated to say it but they were mostly distant with you. They never taught you things a mother and father are supposed to teach their child growing up and so the only thing you knew was magic. You never knew things about feelings or virtues, morals or even manners- you had to keep quiet and watch others.

You never went to school with other kids and so that brought the obvious conclusion of gaining no friends. You even remembered when your stone cold mother and father called you a stupid child when you met your first imaginary friend.

And so as soon as your eighteenth birthday arrived you had made the brave and courageous decision to run away from home and join a Magic Guild. You bought loads of Sorcerer Weekly magazines to see which guild would fit you best and you were immediately drawn to Fairy tail. It's diversity and happy-go-lucky nature captivated you and you couldn't wait to accompany them.

Gray was something you never learnt about all together. He made you feel sick to your stomach but his absent presence always had you counting down the seconds til you could see him again. You swore you were on the verge of a heart attack due to your heart palpitations and you constantly had symptoms such as shortness of your breath and a dizzy mind that raced with unreadable thoughts. You hated the feelings he gave you and you almost exploded, mentally accusing him of using some sort of lost magic on you.

You experienced stomach pains, an insomnia-like disorder and depression that prevented you from functioning properly. Mira noticed your baggy eyes and the lack of food you ate; often because you gave it away to Natsu and she grew deeply worried for you. She- along with your other guild members knew about what had happened before your life in the guild and so she thought that maybe you were having some sort of nightmares or memories of your wretched time in at place you called a 'home' were resurfacing.

You wouldn't admit what was really going on with you and that then caused Natsu to become stressed out, he began picking more fights with Erza and Gray and he wasn't himself that much. He didn't know why you looked so terrible but you only thought he wouldn't notice. Natsu became angry and obsessive and he absolutely loathed the moments when you would immediately try to change the subject. But what you didn't know was that every time Natsu spoke to you- he constantly caught you staring at Gray with sad and miserable eyes.

You knew that your body couldn't take much longer but you didn't expect your weak body to faint and your mind to give in so quickly. Natsu yelled out your name as he watched you fall and Gray was snapped into action when he unconsciously leaped towards your body- just managing to catch you as you feel into a sleep of unconsciousness.

Hours had passed in the infirmary and your loyal team hadn't left your side. Gray was on your right, with your limp hand enclosed in his, he didn't know how to feel; he felt so foolish for letting you pass him as sickly as you looked and he didn't even utter a word. He was your friend but you two weren't exactly that close. You weren't really a speaker when it came to Gray anyway- always getting lost in his dark eyes and almost melting at the sound of his low and velvety voice.

Natsu sat on your left side, laid back in the chair with his arms resting behind his head as Happy laid on his lap. Lucy was next to Natsu as she spoke with Erza quietly; silently asking when you would wake up. And finally Mira had been there- never leaving your side as she stood behind Gray as she laid a comforting hand on Gray's bare shoulder.

Natsu kept his stare on your drained face; watching your sunken eyes as they just began to open very slowly like you had awoken from a peaceful dream.
"Finally! You have a nice dream there (Y/N)?!" Natsu screamed, grinning like a child on Christmas morning that startled everyone, bringing the other team members attentions to you.

They all began smiling and letting out breaths of relief when they watched the small smile creep onto your face at the sight of all of your friends. You giggled at Natsu's statement but froze when you watched Gray's hand; his thumb rubbing comforting circles on your cool skin. You heart began to speed up and the girl's currently occupying the room noticed your stunned gaze locked on Gray's hand.

"I've had enough of this (Y/N), it's been going on for too long. Tell us what's been happening with you at once." Erza boomed at you, leading you to jump slightly at the sound of her stern voice. It almost reminded you of when your mother used to scold you for talking to your imaginary friend. You sighed out loud, cringing to yourself as you moved your body up the bed to sit up in a more comfortable position.

Gray's hand tightened on yours as you moved; like he didn't want to let go and you simply watched his hand after your eyes scanned the different people in the room that were silently pleading you to tell them so they could help you. And so you gave in and you didn't forget to mention a single thing.

"I always get these mixed emotions around Gray and I absolutely hate them but I want to experience them all the time. I can't eat or sleep and I can't even function properly and my stomach always feel sick, I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack. I feel light-headed and I don't know what to do and I've never experienced these feelings before but I know that everything started when I first laid my eyes on Gray and I didn't know what it was because my stupid excuse for parents never told me anything about this. I thought I was going crazy so I didn't want to tell you guys, I'm sorry it happened- I never pictured it ending up like this."

By the time you had finished speaking, you were out of breath. You didn't bother watching there reactions so you only watched your free hand, that wasn't being held by the man beside you, in your lap. It was all too quiet in the room so when you looked up, you saw five faces all watching you with dropped jaws and wide eyes. Their reactions began to scare you and just when you opened yopur mouth to say something, Happy cut in first as he flew next to you on the bed.

"You loooooove Gray!"

You watched Happy with questioning eyes and glanced at Gray for help but you received nothing but wide eyes and a red face. You heard Mira giggle from behind Gray and watched as she smiled at you lovingly while she continued to squeeze Gray's shoulder. The action caught your eye and you swore you could've burnt her hand off.

"You see! Just watching Mira touch Gray's shoulder fills me with this anger that makes me want to hurt you Mira! I don't want to hurt you though!" You whined out loud, waving your hands at the white haired girl as she stopped laughing but then continued to only laugh harder than the last time. Natsu chuckled at you child-like behaviour, Erza smiled lightly as she stood still and Lucy watched with a grin while taking a seat beside Natsu; all of them waiting for Mira to explain what was going on in your mind.

"Ahh my naïve little (Y/N).. You're simply experiencing limerance-"

"Limer- what?" Gray cut in, perking up at the word eager to find out what it means. Mira paused but ignored the Ice mage as she continued,

"Limerance or infatuated love- is a state of mind which results from a romantic attraction to another person and usually includes obsessive thoughts and fantasies and a desire to form or maintain a relationship with the person and have your feelings reciprocated."

You sat, shocked at her words as everyone else gawked at her definition. The words repeated in your mind and you felt so stupid for thinking you were going crazy. Were you really in.. 'love,' as Happy called it?

"So.. I'm in love.. or what?" You asked dumbly. You got the whole limerance thing down but you definitely needed her to dumb it down for you. Natsu laughed at your reply and so did Erza meanwhile Gray seemed to be staring at you lovingly, amazed at how naïve you were to the feelings and at your inexperience to love.

"Yes, (Y/N) you're in love with that stripper beside you." Natsu answered nonchalantly, earning a slap to his forehead from the blonde celestial wizard. Gray growled at the dragon slayer but made no move to get revenge and Erza kept smiling but turned serious when she ordered everyone to leave the room so Gray and yourself could be left alone.

"So uh.. do you feel as sick as I am around you when your around me?" You questioned lightly as you gazed into his eyes. The small and gentle smile continued to lay on his face before it turned grim and your breathe stopped when he leaned forward to cup your face soothingly.

"I feel horrible you know.. You and I were going through the same thing, but I knew what to do because I know the feeling but you... You didn't know anything about those types of things. I wished you couldv'e told me about it sooner."

In return you smiled at him, tiny tears coming to the corners of your eyes when you directed his eyes back to yours and you opened your mouth, staring at his lips and how much you craved them for some unknown reason.
You laughed through the tears, blinking through your blurry vision and Gray looked up startled, feeling the cool wetness of your tears on his hand.

"I feel so sick with what feels like these.. These..-"

"Butterflies?" Gray chuckled out with a smirk.

"Butterflies! But I never want it to go away." You finished stubbornly as Gray's beautiful smile came back to his handsome face. You smiled wider at the sight- feeling as if his facial change was contagious and sighed when his grip on your jaw tightened and he whispsered out those words that made your heart leap out of your mouth and straight into his hands, where you knew it would stay forever.

"God.. I love you."

"I.. I love you too Gray."
