Indirect Care > Killua Zoldyk <

Killua was different from Everyone else.

Passing through the trees, you held your composure with a grim look covering your features. You stomped through the bushes, avoiding the clear paths so you could hide from enemies in your surroundings. Everything was green and it gave the ultimate illusion of peace and tranquility when really these trees were covered in another's blood at one point. The thought made bile rise in your throat but you had unfortunately learnt to keep it down because you were also one of the people spilling blood.

It wasn't your fault though, the people were just so greedy and they only cared for themselves. Making friends was a major risk when they could turn around and stab you in the back within a second of shaking hands, agreeing to the an unofficial agreement to complete the game together. Game, that's right.

It perfectly matched though, the fact that the people were greedy, selfish and developed sociopathic tendencies in the game of Greed Island. You had to collect one hundred cards to win the game as the reward was fifty billion Jenny but in all honesty you were sort of bored. At first this was like a new adventure for you and the fact that entering the game physically moved your body into the game sounded pretty awesome, but now it all looks like just another island on the globe.

You had been in the game for around eight months and word had quickly gone around about a solo girl, only thirteen years old, defeating many players; not enough to kill most of them unless the situation called for it. You were somewhat feared by most and hunted by other players. You kept your distance and hardly spoke a word and soon enough whilst spying on others because you had nothing else to do, you heard about two boys, only twelve years old. They sounded interesting and a bit too optimistic to play this game but who were you to judge.

The boys were described of as being strong, unpredictable and a very good team. It sounded nice to have someone like they did.

- Flash Back -

"Baka! What are you doing, you really think someone pathetic like you can become a Hunter?!"

"Honestly you would die within seconds of entering-"

"Entering?! She's too stupid to even get there!"

These words told by your family, the people who you depended on as they were the first people who had loved you right as you entered the world. The first people you loved as well, why did they put you down like this? Did they not see the harm and destruction they were causing or was it their intention?

Your mother, father and older brother sneered maliciously when noticing the tears in your eyes as you escaped the previously quiet dinner table. You had been fondly speaking of the Hunter exam and it was only a few days before your twelfth birthday so you wanted to attempt the test that so many people had lost their lives in.

You wouldn't let them stop you though because you knew they only put you down so you could stay safe, but also to treat you as a slave making you cook, clean and take are of the house acting like a maid, a stranger to your own family. It was disgusting, and as your warm tears littered your cold, hard pillow, you wouldn't let them win. You were going to pass.

- Now -

All alone, you passed the exam but with casualties which was to be expected. You were scared by the death and pain of the exam, the mental and physical anguish endured almost made you give up a number of times but you wouldn't be discomforted to say your family kept you going as you felt like you had something to prove but you weren't going to wave it in their faces, you never wanted to see them again.

"I found you!"

The high-pitched male voice made shivers clash with your spine and you tuned in a flash to see a knife being thrusted straight at your throat. You gasped lightly, ducking as the tip of the steel weapon lightly pierced your skin on your forehead. You felt a light line on blood trickle down your brow but pain no mind to that when you observed the way Sub laughed cheekily at the minor damage he caused, moving his feet to fly at you again before your forearm had flung up within a millisecond to avoid a stab to the face.

Whilst blocking the knife, you moved your other arm under and across your body to punch Sub straight in the gut while moving seventy percent of your Ren into your fist. He coughed, his eyes widening immensely at the action that had been faster than any skilled enemy he had ever met. Your face was kept impassive the whole time and you kicked the pathetic man in the gut as you used the other thirty percent of Nen in your leg.

Blood was spilling from Sub's mouth and you could've chuckled at the rapid change of atmosphere when he was previously smiling at a possible victory to have you begging for mercy but instead he was falling unconscious just after two hits.

He grunted in pain, shaky as he slowly stood but you were annoyed now so you punched him in the throat so fast it looked as if you didn't even move from your spot. You wiped the slightly dried blood from your face, turning to the bushes behind you to call out to the observers you had sensed before the fight had begun,

"If you're going to attack me, hurry up then."

All the while Sub had slowly fallen to his knees, mouth agape as his dirty hands cradled his voice box that was most likely close to being shattered. He choked on his breath as if experiencing some sort of seizure and you leaned your body weight onto your other foot, yawning when two kids casually came from a bush,

"How did you know we were there?"

You raised a brow and slightly dimmed your defensive Nen when answering, "I sensed you? How else?"

The boy who spoke, with the wild, white hair raised a brow while the other in the green clothing visibly gaped with a wide grin on his face. The smile was contagious, allowing an unknowing smile to grow on your normally stoic face. You felt weird talking to these people instead of fighting them but you figured that if they weren't going to fight, you would be on your way.

"Killua! Did you see her, that was so cool~!"

"Obviously baka, I was right next to you!"

The boys were watching you walk away peacefully, leaving Sub on the floor to sleep before the white-haired one, Killua mustered up the courage to speak, raising his voice to reach you,

"Uhm.. Are you okay?"

You stilled when the sentence left his mouth. Okay? Did you hear that right and why was he asking that. In this game it was every man for himself and you couldn't remember the last time someone asked if you were okay. It felt weird like it wasn't natural but it made you feel warm, an embarrassing blush filling your entire face when you turned an exploded, "Of course I am! Don't say weird things like that! Jeez~!"

Killua jumped at your reaction, his mouth turning to an 'o,' as his brows crossed in irritation, a pink hue appearing on his cheeks when suddenly regretting asking about your well being while Gon smirked at the entire interaction from the sidelines.
Killua let out a, 'Hmph,' angrily and stomped away as you shook yourself to walk away as Sub crawled away to find Bara and Genthru.

_._._._

You hadn't heard nor seen anyone since your quarrel with Sub nor the other kids; that you had heard about, while travelling around the Island. You were always on high alert, allowing your Zetsu to hide your presence all the while being on high alert of others who may find you on accident.

You heard people behind you, laughter between two while the other spoke in a deep yet condescending voice. You concluded their were three of them and used Gyo to observe any unknown Nen in the area to see if it was a trap. You hid in a neighbouring bush and broke through the plant to make yourself a window to see three males passing you, you were lucky you had heard them before hand or else you would've been surrounded.

You sighed quietly, avoiding too much movement to create as little rustling in the plant as possible before, to your luck, you had crushed a twig under the unbalanced weight of your hand. You cursed to yourself in a hushed whisper. The environment had gone extremely quiet which enhanced the broken twig snapping and all at once, your body was being flung into an open area from an unknown force that hit your spine.

You grunted, rolling on the ground multiple times before finally coming to a stop. You were covered in dirt, leaves and it felt filthy which made you angrier. You saw the man smiling, he was blond and lanky and his entire being screamed superiority along with sociopath. Your perfect example of Greed Island as a person, you supposed.

Beside you, two men made themselves apparent as you took note of the familiar red-haired one known as Sub and their other ally; Bara with straight, purple hair and a trident-looking tattoo on his forehead. Your eyes moved from each opponent, noticing the beastly grins plastered on their faces, their wide orbs on you like a lion on a steak.

You stood in a haste, ready to fight as your fists were raised to your front, spreading your legs to be prepared to take an attack from either side,

"Would you calm down, we have a proposition-"

"I don't care." You sped out, squinting your eyes at their stupidity for provoking you. You had no care for people here so you made no conversation of the sort with anyone but yourself.

The blond one sighed in annoyance, nearing you as his grin grew wider than before when watching your defensive self in front of him, you knew it boosted his twisted ego but you only cared for protection and not the wellbeing of others, mentally nor physically.

"It's simple, jus-"

"No."

He growled, leaping within a split second to backhand you towards a tree nearby. Your breath hitched at his speed and you braced for impact as you unconsciously shut your eyes tight when the hard wood of the tree crashed into your spine and cracked your back in a very bad way. You were shaky and attempting to gain your breath back when you silently thanked your fast reflexes for immediately placing Nen on your back only a millisecond before the collision.

Sub and Bara laughed from the sidelines, especially Sub when his throat was still bruised, making you give a smirk to which he gulped before hiding it to compose himself in front of you, the thirteen year old who basically put him in his place.

"You. Will. Listen!" You coughed, getting comfortable against the tree when you stood, cradling your ribs from the ripple effect that caused a painful acne in your torso. You kept quiet, watching the blond man who came forward to place what looked like a comforting hand on your shoulder, before making contact you jumped at a speed that allowed you to disappear and made it a safe distance away from the man.

He smirked, looking behind to find you appearing unharmed and strong as he was mildly impressed at how much you followed your instincts to not connect with other people and began speaking anyway, "I, Genthru, want you to join Sub, Bara and myself in an alliance to complete Greed Island."

You almost laughed, almost managing to before internally cringing at the acne of your spine, it would surely take up to a week and a half to heal. You glanced at Sub and Bara, watching their straight faces before catching Sub's smirk, urging him to talk, "You should do it, or else something will happen to-"

"Oh yes, what was his name? The brat with the white hair and slanted cat eyes?"

Internally, you were mildly afraid but outside you were a stone wall as you almost allowed yourself to let a scoff escape at their attempt to blackmail you, using Killua as extortion to get their way. You remained apathetic as always as you had perfected the act while being a contender of Greed Island.

"-iet Gon and hurry up." You heard a familiar voice, watching Genthru when he raised his brows to watch the newcomers emerge from the bushes. Sub grinned, "Looks like he came to us!"

This gained the boys attention as they were now accompanied by a cute girl with blonde hair tied in a high pony-tail and a frilly pink dress. They stopped well away from the scene and watched nonchalantly when Genthru spoke, "Ah there he is.. An-"

"There who is?" You asked innocently. You glanced at the boys indifferently and turned back to Genthru in question before asking again, "What? Who is that, you know him?"

Genthru watched slightly discomposed when glaring at Sub who observing the scene unravel perplexed and infuriated. Killua glared in irritation once again and Gon opt to speak up to remind you when he was confused before he was nudged by Bisky to remain quiet,

"Don't play stupid Idiot! I know you know hi-"

"Why in the hell would I know him? I know no one, and care for nothing but myself." Again Killua grew agitated, furrowing brows at the bluntness of your words all the while growing slightly puzzled at your motives before Genthru had gone and slapped Sub across the face, letting you leave but not without a shove as you ran away leaving the Bomb Devils to do whatever they pleased with the three kids.

You didn't run far, only far enough so you weren't sensed by Genthru and his group. You felt Gon's nen, Killua's and the blonde girls too before they appeared by your side. You stared wordlessly at Killua as his eyes twitched in exasperation, you noticed the girl dragging Gon farther in front of you in your peripheral vision. Your Nen disappeared as did your composure when you became relaxed and it confused the white-haired assassin.

You had no reason to be lowering your guard around him and especially when he knew you didn't like other people. Nevertheless he became slightly defensive when he watched you stretch, yawning as he kept his hands in the pockets of his shorts, using Gyo to see anything that would normally go unnoticed.

"They didn't hurt you, did they?" You asked tiredly.
Killua was struck frozen at the tender look in your eyes, it was almost smitten like a person waking up to see their lover the first thing in the morning.

You smiled, it wasn't a rough tug of your cheeks nor a grimaced smile-like curve of your pink lips but it was a genuine smile, toothless and real as it rendered Killua defenceless when unconsciously slipping his Nen away without a thought in his normally quizzical and strategic, idea-brewing mind.

He wasn't aware of what happened but the moment he nodded, indicating that he had walked away unharmed, he noticed your shoulders slump with relief as you turned to leave.
You rested your entwined hands behind your head, turning around to walk away but stopped slowly when you turned, watching him in your peripheral vision as your smile remained, "That makes me happy, bye Killua."
