Secret notes from Who?

'You're so beautiful without even having to try, how is it possible?'

You blushed in embarrassment when re-reading the words in front of you. Narrowing your eyes at the banal note left on your desk, you rushed to the door of your office in Central Command to hastily swipe the door open, only to see Alphonse Elric standing by as nonchalant as they come, or so you thought.

"Alphonse.. Did you see anyone come by my office recently?"

The boy in the armour visibly flinched as if in fear of being accused of something. Your brows furrowed but you fell deflated when he rapidly shook his head without a word before walking off in a haste.

Slowly entering the room again, you closed the door behind you as a smile inevitably grew on your mildly pink face.

'I wish I could be more quixotically romantic for you.'

Well that definitely crossed off a lot of males in the building you worked. You were sure a lot more than half of the men here had no idea what 'quixotically' even meant, so that what was led you to the library to find the thesaurus,

'Impractical, Idealistic, Chivalrous and Impulsive' appeared in the large piece of literature. Once again it made you blush, but what you didn't notice in your surroundings, was the seven-foot metal armour and the obvious placing of the thesaurus when you entered the library.

That was all yesterday, you had received two anonymous notes and kept them in the back of your draw in your desk. They left no hints and you had your doubts when thinking about if this was a prank or a legitimate way to actually be with you, romantically.

When thinking about the notes; since they had ceased to leave your mind, your automatic thought was the Fullmetal Alchemist; Edward Elric. You already knew not to get your hopes up but it was your brains motorised response when receiving love letters out of the blue.

Time had passed and it was now lunch time, you made your way into the mess hall whilst brewing a plan to get more hints or answers on Mr. Anonymous.

"Hey Ed, Alphonse. How are you guys?"

You sat a table, planting a content grin on your face as you observed Ed stutter for a second before answering cooly whilst his younger brother watched before also answering,

"I-I..Uh, I'm doing great!-"

"I'm fine (Y/N), thanks for asking." You smiled again, looking down at the table before a tray of food was then passed to you, you gaped in surprise and looked up to see Edward rubbing the back of his head with one arm whilst he turned a looked to his side.

"Just take the food, you're always forgetting your own anyway. Jeez I don't know what you'd do without me.."

You almost gasped aloud, keeping it subtlety hidden in a small cough of astonishment. You knew your face had exploded with blush and by the way Ed exploded with wide eyes and stutters of embarrassment, he was most likely also not expecting himself to say that; especially out loud.

"- Uh-I meant 'cause we-we're fr-friends! O-obviously.."

".. Ah, of course Ed."

You stuck on a fake smile, feeling a tinge of hurt inside but not willing to show. It wasn't your fault that Ed didn't like you the same way you like him. Just like it wasn't your fault that you had to go off and fall for him, you had it bad.

You proceeded to eat the food, avoiding the blond boy's stare when he glanced your way before almost choking on his own saliva when he got caught. Alphonse would begin giggling when that happened but your only aim was to finish the food before trying find the anonymous person behind the cute, little notes you had recently obtained,

"So guess what!" You exclaimed before thinking, no going back now.

Edward jumped and Alphonse looked your way, both nodding for you to continue, "Recently, I've been getting these super cute notes, they're so romantic!"

The Alphonse visibly stilled, you had grown accustomed to that action from the metal boy but you had spoken these words right as Edward took a gulp of his orange juice and so, he spat it all out, luckily missing you.

"ED what the hell!-"

"Who are they from?! What do they say!!" His eyes were wide, slamming his hands onto the table which made a really loud sound because of that metal hand of his. You jumped in shock, feeling disappointed when you figured you could cross Ed off of the list of guys in your mind. Now you weren't as excited, you felt bad for the actual person who had placed these notes in your office.

"I don't know who they're from and that's a secret." You stated simply, smirking whilst crossing your arms at the boy whose face had turned from his sun-kissed tan skin to a pink, rosy colour.

'I don't know much about romance, but I want you to be the one to teach me.'

"God Dammit!"

If only you hadn't spent that time in the mess hall, you could've caught whoever placed the note under the door to your office. Well at least you knew they didn't have access to your office so it wasn't one of the superiors like the womaniser known as Roy Mustang.

You re-read the note again, unlocking the office to sit at your desk. You got the other two notes out, reading over all of them before sighing to yourself. You were annoyed- it had only been a day more or less and your curious yet impulsive self wanted to solve the mystery right now.

What could you do? How could you possibly find this person who only gave you little notes that were all different from each other. The men in Central Command were.. Dogs. You guessed their were some good people though but over all, they annoyed you. There was only one guy you liked and he was completely surprised when he found out. Not a single hint on his face said he was irritated, upset or even jealous in the slightest.

You leaned forward on the desk, content with the sunlight from the window behind you as it warmed your back. You placed your head onto your arms and closed your eyes, revelling in the silence before a noise caught your attention. It was coming from out in the hall as you stilled, concentrated on the sounds as they become recognised as feet. Two feet walking closer to your office until it halted, you caught sight of the shadow from under the door before it was gone within in flash.

You jumped up, a yelp escaping your mouth when your flailing limbs dropped you to the ground after having the chair spin so quickly. You crawled, not having time in having to get onto your feet as you made it to the door. You opened it wide, falling again in the process before looking at two legs dressed in the military uniform.

You froze, slowly lifting your head to see an annoyed Colonel Mustang looking down at you before he sighed. He muttered incoherent words to himself; most likely wondering what the hell you were doing on the ground like that, be fore he handed you some documents and proceeded to walk away as he wasn't even bothered to ask,

"Colonel! I-Uh.. Did you happen t-to see anyone come by here?" You asked in a frantic manner, the man didn't stop walking as he only answered, "Were you expecting someone?"

You could see the change in shape of his cheeks, indicating he was smirking but you let it go for now, "...No."

- Time Skip Two Months Later -

'And I don't know what I'd do without you.'

God Damn this boy. After two months he decides to take you on this roller coaster again. You had lost hope after a few weeks because of how often this anonymous sent notes within the span of two days. Now out of the blue you acquired this but there was something different about it. These words were similar to something someone had said to you, 'Jeez I don't know what you'd do without me..'

It seemed as if the note was finishing the end of that sentence, the sentence that Edward had spoken to you. Was that the intended purpose? For you to find out what it really was, was that why this had been sent after two long and boring months because of how much you waited for the next note?

You had to get to the bottom of this, hence why you sent an officer in the hall to find the smaller Elric; you couldn't talk cause you were smaller than him whilst being the same age, and bring him straight to your office.

Minutes passed and it did nothing to ease your nerves. You still had your doubts and you couldn't even begin to imagine the humiliation that you would drown in if you were wrong and that would mean that Ed would have indirectly rejected you in a way.

"He-hey (Y/N)? You uh.. You wanted t-to see me?"

You jumped at the sound of the smooth yet stuttering voice of Edward Elric. Your eyes were wide and you felt nothing but butterflies in your body, your brain felt like a jumbled mess and your heart palpitations were definitely going out of the ordinary. You stared at the boy as he also stared, holding the note you had just received which he also noticed as his cheeks turned pink, rubbing the back of his neck in a seemingly embarrassed manner,

"I.. I got another note." Ed's brows raised in question but he said nothing because of how vague you spoke, you honestly had no idea what to say now that he was here.

"I-Uh.. This one- it uh.. It reminded m-me of something you said a co-couple months ago..?"

He jumped in his spot, eyes widening upon hearing your words as he exploded with a pink glow covering his attractive face. He seemed to start fidgeting as well and he only grew more nervous when you stood in your place like a mannequin, "U-Uh, I me-mean uhm- wh-what do you mean?"

You felt some joy swell in you when watching Edward so nervous and shaky, all because of you. You grabbed the note tighter in your grip as you slowly begin to recite the words on the small piece of paper, "And I don't know what I'd do without you,

It's like that time at lunch right? Wh-when you said what would I do without you?" You were apprehensive and uneasy beyond words but you had managed to put on a front when facing your crush. You weren't sure it was possible but the second you finished your sentence, his eyes got even bigger. You took that opportunity to get lost in his golden orbs before he whispered something to himself, you had only just heard it, "You remembered.."

"Uh... I-it's just, well.. The way you smiled when you got the first note.. I-It made me happy so I wanted t-to keep doing it.. Urgh, I'm sorry it's so weird I do-don't know what I was doing. I-"

"Does this mean you li-li... Like me?"

You asked timidly, he was rambling and you knew he knew it too. He shut his mouth, his arms still in their place from when he had begun to flail his arms to show emphasis on his word vomit.

You were suffocating in the silence and he only kept his mouth shut before, to your surprise, he started to nod his head rapidly. You blinked, and blinked again in response when this option didn't appear in your mind when thinking about the different ways this talk would occur.

".. I do, I was to scared to say a-anything.." He gave a nervous chuckle and proceeded to rub the back of his neck again, and so you concluded that that act was one of embarrassment. You smiled, a large one that could've reached your ears before you walked towards him. He jumped at your speed but froze when your noses touched, you watched his eyes and you smiled again when you noticed his eyes switching in between your eyes and to your lips.

".. Do it.." You whispered, allowing him to build up the courage to take initiative and do what both of you had wanted for so long. Mid- blink the boy in front of you took that chance to quickly but softly placed his tender lips upon yours. You melted on the inside at the feeling as he nervously placed his hands upon your arms, slowly moving them down to encircle your waist when he timidly moved his lips upon yours.

You smiled into the kiss which Ed felt, having happiness and excitement swirling in him when you lifted your arms to also place your own around his neck as your hands entwined at the base of his neck. You sighed through the kiss when feeling how right and gentle he was with you. Your butterflies had evolved into a zoo and your lips were tingling when you pulled apart to breath some air as Ed pouted at your action when departing from your first ever kiss. You smiled nonetheless as you rubbed your nose into the boys neck, feeling accomplished when he shivered at your intimate touch.

"Arigatou gozaimasu Ed- Chan, I love you."

"EH? I....

I love you too (Y/N)."

EHHHHHHH I got braces yesterday and they hurt like a B*!$%
can't eat anything, i feel like an old woman. I don't know how long I will be able to stay strong... :'(
