Laxus is pretty smart when it comes to planning important things.

Laxus and yourself had become best friends at the ripe age of seven when his grandfather; Master Makarov had taken you in after he found you alone in the rain. You didn't know why he would even want to take care of a lost soul like yours but then you couldn't really convince yourself to leave when you first saw his grandson.
Laxus Dreyer was such a kind spirit and he was so smart and beautiful to you- platonically- and you two instantly became attached to each other. Makarov was glad he found you because now his grandson wouldn't be alone in the guild. Ten years later you were both seventeen and were still doing everything together. You were upstairs in the guild- from before it was first destroyed by Phantom - with him, being an S-Class wizard and you were in his team, always going out on jobs together.
The man had grown arrogant and quite cocky but you could always look past that and whenever he would get too mouthy towards his guild members, everyone would rely on you to knock some sense into him- and by that they mean when you would grab him by the ear and drag him away to serve a good scolding.
Because of Laxus' intimidating appearance, you were never really that great in the dating field and whenever you were actually close to scoring a date with a cute guy, Laxus had to swoop in with his malicious grin and throw a strong arm around your shoulders.
You never got in the way of Laxus' dating life and often found him making out with some sleazy girl he just happened to pick up. You always told yourself it didn't matter and you didn't care- but sometimes your brain and your heart both went a separate lane.
Sometimes you liked to think that you were dependant of Laxus just as he was with you but then other times it wasn't so bad to handle things yourself. Laxus didn't think of it that way though, he was always a sweet gentleman to you- when you were younger you always thought of him as the older brother you always wished you had- when he was actually the same age as you.
He helped you become the wizard you were today- he helped you become S-Class like him and Erza. He helped you through the nightmares you occasionally got from your missing family and he also- as much as you hate to say it- helped you when you got your period for the first time at the age of twelve. You liked to think he may have developed a tiny crush on you back then but as soon as he saw that red stain on his bed from your sleepover- he freaked out.
And you definitely remember that he was traumatised for about a week after that. Without the proper womanly figure there you had to deal with an old little man who was thoroughly disgusted and a twelve year old boy who thought you were dying.
And so today, with the annual firework festival happening all week, next week, you sat in the guild beside a glum looking Laxus. You knew Laxus didn't notice you looking at him, but you couldn't help but watch the way he fidgeted in his seat and kept wiping his forehead to rid the beads of sweat that had appeared there.
With a scrunch of your eyebrows you turned your body to face him and placed your hand to his forehead making him flinch in return. He scrunched his face with an annoyed expression but you also caught a glipmse of his red tinted cheeks as he swatted your arm away from him.
"Aye! What gives?" He retorted when your hand was back to yourself. You giggled nonetheless- not fazed at all at an angry Laxus having witnessed it plenty of times and knowing how to deal with it.
"Penny for your thoughts, Lax?" You questioned, battling your eyelashes as you leaned your head on his shoulder, looking up at his prominent red cheeks and his lost facial expression. Watching him stutter in return, you watched as worry filled inside you and grabbed his arm, hooking yours around it for comfort.
"Lax? You know you can tell me anything, yeah?" You questioned again in a high-pithed voice. There wasn't any secret between the two of you and if there was, well there wouldn't be for long. Everything was discussed between the two of you- with your logical and smart thinking mixed with his violent and realistic thinking, you two made the perfect team- in your opinion of course.
"Y-yeah, I know I ju-.. I don't know." He sputtered out, avoiding eye contact as he stared at your arm that was around his. This was unusual behaviour for him and you wanted to be there when your best friend wanted to confide in you- if he didn't want to then you would just make him. Besides, Laxus trusted no one but you.
"Laxus, spill it.. And I'll help you!" You chirped the end- thinking of it only just then while he continued to watch the guild chatter and fight before he sighed in exasperation and looked into your wide and awaiting eyes. You heard him sigh again as he closed his eyes, almost like he was trying to relax himself but he sat still when you took hold of his warm and sweaty hand, entwining your fingers with his, hoping to ease him.
"I-I just have a-a lot on my m-mind.." He answered vaguely. You stared emotionless preceding to nudge his muscular arm as he rubbed his face in annoyance and looked back into your eyes.
"I-I have a... question." He murmured towards you, not wanting any others to hear- it wasn't like they were even paying attention to you anyway.
"Well go on!" You instructed excitedly, happy to give Laxus some of your wisdom. It probably wasn't that smart of Laxus to go to you but you guessed he had that whole 'bad boy rebel' type reputation to stand by.
"Okay, okay.. Uh well there's t-this girl.. an-"
"Oh my gosh Laxus! Tell me all about her!" You interrupted loudly. Laxus continued to watch you with irritated but flustered eyes but continued anyway, a small smile growing on his face when he thought about this girl you never knew existed.
"Sh-she uh, she's so beautiful. She's smart too- she makes me smile and uh- she knows how to always make me feel better. I've liked her for a really long time now but I've always been t-too nervous to ask her out." Laxus finished his a wide smile turning into a frown when he began to think about asking the girl out. You had never seen Laxus like this before about a girl and it didn't make you feel too good.
Suddenly thoughts of you and laxus being the ones hugging and kissing, holding hands and going on dates buzzed through your head but it disappeared before you could embrace the feelings it gave you because of Laxus snapping his fingers in front of your face to get your attention.
"Where'd you go? Why you smiling so much?" You heard Laxus, dropping your smile immediately that you didn't even know had grown on your face. You laughed nervously- hoping he wouldn't question you as you continued to ask him questions about this girl that had been taking up your blond best friends mind.
"Can't be that hard to ask a girl out? It isn't the end of the world right?"
"Yeah, I guess but I don't know how, I have an Idea." Laxus squirmed in his seat, squeezing your hand as he continued, "Tell me, what w-would you like as a date?"
"ME? Uh- wha- why me?" You screeched a bit too loud, laughing awkwardly while Laxus watched. His eyebrow raised at your suddenly peculiar behaviour and he didn't say anything- he just stared and knowing him you knew he was going to continue until you answered the stubborn mans' question.
"Uh.. Let's see.. OH! I know, the firework festival next week! You could take her there- that would be so romantic! Oh and then to finish it off, you kiss her when the grand finale of fireworks begins!.."
Laxus watched you ramble on with a smirk on his face as you dreamily looked off into the distance, tightening your hold on his hand subconsciously. By the time you had finished you stared at Laxus with wide eyes- knowing your blabbering had amused him but he surprised you when he unexpectedly jumped out of his seat, mumbling about how he had to plan for his date.
A week had passed and it was now the time of the annual Fireworks Festival. People would take their specific others and friends would go together like you had planned to, with Natsu and Lucy before Laxus had came up to you in a blushing mess and asking a very odd question.
"Come with me to the festival?"
Of course you just had to question him over the extremely fast thumping of your heart, obviously you wanted to go with him but you didn't want to be a second choice if he had already asked the girl he claimed to have a large infatuation for.
"Wait with me, till she comes- my hands can't stop shaking." Laxus exclaimed, tugging his hair to make sure it hadn't gone out of place. You let a sad sigh escape your lips, looking up at the man who had slowly and carefully stolen your heart throughout the ten years you had known him. You licked your hand anyway, Laxus watching as he brought his head down to yours so you could fix his hair to how he wanted it to be and then he tugged you by the hand to festival.
Now standing next to a nervous Laxus, he would look around and check the time- mumbling incoherent words to himself and then offer you a little smile. You said nothing- hoping this girl who taken Laxus' heart would hurry up and show so you could have fun with your friends from Fairy Tail.
The Festival started at eight o'clock at night lasting four hours so the last firework show would begin at midnight- indicating the end of the festival. Laxus had taken you there at nine o'clock- the girl hadn't came yet and you felt a bit bad for Laxus because he was stood up.
You wanted to find this girl and knock her teeth out for doing that for such an amazing man but you were also relieved when you thought about how lucky you were- not having to watch Laxus nervously embarrass himself because of a girl he liked so much.
Walking around the festival, you and Laxus- now holding hands- were watching people play the games and eat the traditional food of the festival. Fireworks could be bought or some wizards would use their magic to impress others by making colourful fireworks erupt in the sky. You knew you shouldn't speak about what happened earlier- wanting the blond to have a good time after he was actually meant to be here with someone else but it didn't matter because for the next three hours you two played games and Laxus even won you a stuffed bear which you were extremely happy about.
There was only two minutes until twelve o'clock and Laxus had gotten you both the best view which was on a little building rooftop. Alone, the both of you watched people prepare but the sudden squeeze on your hand brought your attention to an edgy looking Lightening Dragon Slayer.
He looked down at you with a gentle but knowing smile, since you were about a head smaller than him and you watched curiously at his actions as he go closer to you.
With one minute left, Laxus opened his mouth to speak, louder than usual because of the pre-fireworks before the grand finale.
"I have a confession; ...There was actually no other girl- it was only you, the whole time,"
"- And every year we would come here.. I was constantly thinking if these.. fireworks- these breath-taking fireworks would compare to the fireworks I would get to feel when I kissed you in front of them.... So could I find out?"
You were literally a fish out of water, you felt your jaw drop and your eyes went as wide as saucers. Your mind repeated what Laxus had said as he confidently grinned at you with a raised eyebrow waiting for your answer.
Opening your mouth to answer, Laxus watched without a warning when you abruptly jumped on him, startled by the Grand Finale and in one swift moment he grabbed your chin that was buried in his chest and brought your lips to his, causing a surprised yelp exit your mouth that was being taken over by Laxus' tongue.
Everything else melted away when you and Laxus kissed and your lips curved up lightly, causing Laxus to smile in the kiss too when thinking back to his statement -
'..constantly thinking if these.. fireworks- these breath-taking fireworks would compare to the fireworks I would get to feel when I kissed you in front of them..'
- and how true he was when he said you would feel those fireworks inside of you.
