Chapter 4 File it Under Unsolved Missing Persons/Odd?

The police look over the case about Enoch once more. They shake their heads in dismay.  They find strange that he should have no last name, that he is said to be young, and he should just disappear without a trace to his whereabouts.   The officers decide that the whole thing is a pity. It is a shame they could not find any signs of a struggle, etc.  It seems there are no clues as to where he could have gone!

"Well, I do not know about you, but I think it is time we gave it a rest."  One officer says.

"Yes, I agree.  We have spent far to much time on it as it is anyway."  His partner agrees.

" Lets just  get in put away then!"  The chief  police officer replies.

"Yes, sir!  We will see to it right away, sir."  The others agree.

One officer glances over at his partner.  He cannot decide which shelf or  envelope to store this in anyway.  This whole thing is such a disturbance he finds it hard to rest.  He finds it difficult to focus on much lately.  It is almost as if he dreads to tell the man's  wife the truth that no one will ever find her missing husband.  He can almost see the look of disappoint in her face and the sound of worry in her voice.

"Come on, no need to fret over the matter!"  Another officer tells him.

"Where in the system should I put it ?"  He ask.

"Just file it under, Unsolved Missing Persons/Odd?"  The Chief Police responds.

"Yes, sir!"  He says.  He does as he was told.  He is glad to have gotten everything put away at long last.    He sighs a sigh of relief.  He must admit the place he was told to store it does make sense as it is a cold case and one of very unusual  circumstances. He shakes his head.

The young officer is glad for a break.   He feels it is long overdue as it has been awhile since his last one. He sits down.  He is not sure what to do for the rest of the work day.  It is not like he was ready for the old case to be done.   He  kinda thinks it to be a rather cool one full of  intrigue among other things.  He dares not to tell his boss.

Enoch's  wife arrives at the station on her tractor.  This is due to her car being in the shop.  She parks the  vehicle inside the parking lot. She goes inside  to take a look around.  She decides to see if any progress has been made lately when it comes to her husband.

"Hey, Madame, how may we help you?"  A officer ask as he sees her enter the place.

"It is just that I wonder did you have an updates or anything that concerns my missing husband, Enoch?"   The lady remarks.

"Ah, yes, we do believe that under the circumstances nothing further may be done.  Go home now!  Have a nice day!  Enjoy time at the spa, or get your nails done!"  The officer says.

"Excuse me, but i do not believe you understand."  Enoch's wife says.

"Madame, you better leave now!"  The  chief police officer tells her!

Enoch's  wife nods her head.  She leaves.  She is sad to see that even the police no longer support her on the matter.  It seems everyone thinks she is insane.  Why even the police chief himself does not seem to care to pursue the matter further.  She goes home alone.  She decides maybe it is best to give up.  She might as well since even her own son has  gone on to his uncles  place.  She thinks on what to do next.  Should she really get her nails done?  She considers it though she is not sure where she will get the funds to pay for it.

The police feel sorry for her.  Really they do!  It is not like they meant to let her down.  It is just that they do not have enough time or people available to spend on the case anymore.  Besides, why should they waste time with this ,when there are far more important cases left to work on now?    Some things are just meant to remain a mystery.

to be continued in Chapter  5   Enoch's  Wife Moves On!
