Chapter 12
*** Some Mature content in this chapter. ***
Blasting music. Underage drinking. Sweaty people dancing.
Yup this was definitely a house party.
So far Lorenzo, Josh, and I have been at this party for a half an hour. Due to being underage, I'm not drinking and for some reason neither is Lorenzo. Even though he's also underage, I just assumed he would be drinking and partying with his friend that invited him. Instead he has sat on the couch with me this entire time, most likely just trying to be nice. On the other hand, a couple minutes after entering the house party, Josh saw a cute boy and left to try and flirt with him. It seems like it's going smoothly, considering they are in the middle of the floor dancing to a song I've never heard before.
"You know you don't have to stay with me." I tell Lorenzo with humor in my voice, slightly screaming so he can hear me over the loud music. "If you want to drink, I'm not stopping you."
Lorenzo smiles and leans in close to me, so I can hear him.
"I'm not a big drinker. Plus, I like being next to you." He responds with a warm smile that could make anyone swoon.
I blush slightly, punching Lorenzo lightly in the shoulder to try and seem like that small comment didn't affect me as much as it did.
"Shut up, I'm being a buzz kill." I joke lightly.
"No, you're not. If you don't want to drink then that's not being a buzz kill, it's just you being who you are and like I said, I'm not a big drinker.
With a smile, he gets up off of the couch and offers me his hand.
"In fact, would you want to go upstairs into a private room? Its pretty loud down here and I want to hear your voice without any interruption."
Damn. Why was he being so charming today? If he keeps this up, I'm going to be a tomato until this party is over.
"Yeah I would actually like that a lot. Let me just tell Josh where we are going."
I smile shyly, taking his hand and walking over to Josh who currently dancing messily with the random guy he just met.
"Josh, were going upstairs so we can talk better." I scream over the music.
He looks at me and laughs.
"Oh yeah okay, have fun talking" He winks at me, and continues dancing with the guy.
Was that a dirty insinuation? Of course it was, its Josh I'm talking to.
I shake my head and follow Lorenzo up the stairs. He still hasn't disconnected our hands from when he offered his to me, causing butterflies to swarm in my stomach at that realization.
After checking several rooms, all of which were either full of people or locked, we finally found one room at the far end of the hallway that was empty.
"This will do just fine." Lorenzo says, opening the door and leading me inside.
He sadly disconnects our hands to close the door behind him and lock it.
"Just so no drunk idiot comes in the room and ruins the privacy." He tells me, referring to why he locked the door.
I jump on the bed and sit down on one side, Lorenzo following my action and sitting right beside me on the bed.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Lorenzo asks, looking at me with his chocolate brown eyes affectionately.
"Well, we don't know much about each other. How about we play 20 questions?" I suggest, just now realizing that I barely know anything about the boy to my right.
"Alright, that's actually a great idea. Ummmmm, what's your proudest accomplishment?"
Wow, that's a big question to start out with...
"Well, I think something I'm very proud of myself for doing is getting rid of my last friend group. They weren't the type of people I wanted to be surrounded by and even though I've grown up my whole life with people like them, I'm proud that I didn't turn into one of them."
Lorenzo looks at me with pride.
"Bailee, that's awesome. It takes a strong person to get out of a situation that they were born into. It's good that you dint just turn into one of them because I like you exactly the way you are now."
And here we go with another charming comment.
Smiling, I reply "Yeah I really love the person I've grown into so far. Anyway, my question for you is have you and Marco had that conversation about your Grandma yet?"
"Actually, yeah we have. It turns out, my Grandma and him were never really together. They actually had a drunken one-night stand and boom, my mom was born. He said that he wanted to raise his daughter, but Grandma Marie left before my mom was even born. He said he's not sure why he left to raise a child by himself, but he thinks it has something to do with being really poor at that time while my Grandma was pretty wealthy."
Well that's surprising.
"Wow, that's actually really crazy. I hope your mom gives him a chance to tell his side of the story one day because I'm sure Marco would love to meet his daughter."
He gives me a half smile. "Yeah, I'm really glad I gave him a chance to explain his side. Now, my question is what's your favorite type of music?"
Dang, that's a hard question to answer for me.
"I actually like all different genres of music. If a song is good, then its good you know? To me it doesn't matter on the type of music it is if it's a great song. However, If I had to pick I would for sure pick older songs from older generations. I just love how music used to sound back in the day."
"I understand what you're saying completely. I love listening to older artists because their music seems so much rawer. That's just my opinion though." He finishes with a smile.
"Well I'm glad you like that type of music as well, now I won't have to stop talking to you." I reply jokingly, getting a little laugh out of Lorenzo causing my smile to widen.
"You wouldn't be able to stop talking to me if you tried." He smiles smugly.
"Oh, is that a challenge?" I say with determination in my voice.
"No definitely not. I wouldn't be able to stop talking to you either, even if it was for a challenge."
Damn it! These charming ass lines.
Blushing, I clear my throat and ask my question.
"So, a question I've had for a while now is why haven't you gone home yet? Not that I want you to go home, because I would actually hate it if you left but yeah I'm just wondering." I ramble on, not wanting him to get the wrong impression from that question.
Lorenzo looks at me cautiously, seemingly looking like he was debating on telling me the answer. I was just about to tell him he didn't have to answer the question if he didn't want to, when he began speaking.
"I'm not sure if I should tell you this because it could get me in a lot of trouble." He says, before sighing and continuing. "I actually stayed because of you... I love seeing you every day at work and hearing your beautiful voice when you help the customers. I just had to stay for a little longer, even if I know I shouldn't, because being near you makes me happy."
...
It takes several seconds for my brain to register what Lorenzo just said. When I asked him that question, I certainly wasn't expecting an answer anywhere close to how he answered. My heart starts to raise as the only words that con come out of my mouth are:
"Because of me?"
I look at him bewildered, as I ask him the question.
He laughs lightly and smiles, looking me directly in the eyes.
"Yeah, because of you Bailee."
I have no words. I thought he rejected me. I honestly thought he wasn't interested in me, but it seems like I was totally wrong.
As these thoughts are going through my head, I realize the room has gone quiet. Neither Lorenzo or myself has said a single word since that confession and we've been staring at each other throughout the silence.
I'm a second from breaking the silence until I see Lorenzo slowly start to move in. Am I really about to have my first kiss?! My heart begins to beat erratically, and I wait nervously in anticipation for what comes next.
It seems like years before I finally feel the sensation of lips against mine. It seems like my heart stops and the only thing I feel is butterflies going crazy in my stomach and the soft sensation of Lorenzo kissing me.
The kiss is slow and sensual. He caresses my face with his hand, and my body feels like it's going to explode with all the sensations I'm feeling right now.
Lorenzo begins to pull away slowly, causing me to open my eyes.
He leans his forehead on mine and talks in a quiet whisper.
"I really shouldn't have done that."
I can hear the regret in his voice, but before I can tell him that it's okay (beyond okay in fact) he continues.
"But I really want to do it again."
And before I know it, his lips are on mine again. This time more fervently and with much more passion behind each one.
I tangle my hands in his hair and kiss him back just as passionately.
Suddenly, I feel his tongue graze my lip as if asking permission to enter. Even though I'm new to this, I go with the flow and open my mouth allowing him to enter.
As we makeout, somehow in the heat of the moment I begin to slide down the bed causing me to be laying on my back.
As the kissing becomes more, heated I can tell we are both turned on.
I pull him closer, wanting our bodies to be as close as possible. He straddles my thighs, allowing him more access to kiss. As I feel something poking my leg, Lorenzo begins to slowly grind into my body. When I feel my body start to tingle uncontrollably, I pull his shirt off not caring about the repercussions anymore.
He lifts his lips from mine in order to remove the shirt before immediately smashing our lips together once more.
The sensations begin to become too much to bare, and I realize what needs to happen. I separate our lips and sit up to take off my shirt as well.
Before I can even get the shirt over my head, I hear three loud bangs and Josh's voice.
"Bailee are you in there?"
Lorenzo and I separate quickly, breathing heavily from the events that just occurred.
I walk to the door and reply.
"Yeah Josh, what's wrong?" I try to calm my breathing and suppress everything my body is feeling right now.
"The guy I was dancing with just left and now I have nothing to do. I'm really bored, and I think we should go home before we get caught."
I sigh and respond.
"Okay Josh, we'll be out in a second."
I turn around slowly, not wanting to leave this room one bit.
"Well... that was-"
"A mistake." Lorenzo interrupts my sentence.
I look down sadly, "Actually I was going to say magical, but I guess mistake works too." I try to make a small joke, yet it doesn't seem to work.
"Let's get you and Josh home. I shouldn't have done that and I'm really sorry. Just forget it happened...please" Lorenzo says regretfully, walking to the door and passing me by to open the door.
Forget it happened? How am I supposed to do that?
I sigh inwardly. This was definitely not how I imagined the night going.
