Knock knock......

Bani sighed. This was happening for the last two days. Ever since they came back from Bani's flat, Veer would keep on pasting sticky notes on her door and give a knock. The first day, Bani ignored it thinking that he would stop. But when he continued it the next day also, Bani started collecting those sticky notes.

Veer was happy. The next day after the flat incident, Bani started eating the dinner offered by him. And yesterday, she started collecting all the sticky notes that he gave her. Maybe, she was melting. And also, over these two days, Veer had made a good bond with Dheeraj. The guy was too friendly and was always ready to help. Overall, Veer could see his times changing.

Bani came out of her room. She saw a sticky note stuck on the door with "Shollyyyyy... Pljjjjj maaf kaddo..." written on it. She noticed his efforts and smiled. She took the cute note and kept in the box, and then went to sleep.

The next day, after Bani left for office, Veer called Dheeraj.

DD: Hey bro... Whassup?!... Kya haal hai?!...

V: Nahi pata... Mere taraf se efforts ko accept to kar rahi hai, par khud kuch signal nahi de rahi hai... Anyways, kya tu aj ekbar mujhse mil sakta hai?!... I need to know some things..

DD: Yeah sure... Sun, tu ek kaam kar, ho sake to abhi mere ghar aaja... I will send you the address... Aj babydoll bhi nahi hai ghar mein, aur mera chutti hai.. Main waise bhi bore ho raha hoon, tu aja..

V: Ok then, I am coming.. Bye...

Veer cut the call and went to get ready.

After about 40 minutes, Veer reached Dheeraj's apartment. He came out of the car, and saw Dheeraj already waiting for him there. As soon as Dheeraj noticed him, he came running to him.

DD: Hiii... Kabse wait kar raha hoon... Chal... Abhi tak noodles thande hogaye honge...

V: Tune banaya?!...

DD: Obviously... The only thing I can make...*laugh*

Dheeraj took Veer to his flat on the 6th floor. It was a huge flat having 3 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, one drawing room, and a kitchen. Two of the rooms also had attached balconies. Dheeraj gave him a tour of his flat, and then made him sit in the drawing room. He went to get the noodles for themselves.

Shortly after, he came back with two plates of noodles and gave one to Veer. They ate the food while talking casually. After they were done, they kept the plates in the table and came to the main point.

DD: Ab bol kya baat karna tha tujhe...

V: Wo, mujhe Bani ke baare mein jaanna tha...

DD: *rolling eyes* Such a nice idea.. Arre, clearly bol kya jaanna hai..

V: Umm... Usdin use Panic attack aaya tha, aur tune bola tha ki 4 saal baad aaya hai...Iska matlab?!... I want to know her history... Honestly speaking, I don't know anything about her...Toh, basically sab kuch jaanna hai...

DD: (Oh shit, ise to yaad hai... Jaan ne sahi kahi thi, mujhe bolna hi nahi chahiye tha... Par, pati hai ye Bani ki, he should know some things about her.. Baki Bani khud batayegi time aane par...)Ab dekh, main use pichhle 5 saal se jaanti hoon... Uske pehle ka, I don't know much.. Mujhe uske baare mein jitna pata hai, utna tujhe batata hoon...

V: Yeahhh sure...

DD: See, Bani ne tujhe mere baare mein bataya hain right?!... I mean, about my past?!... I think bataya hoga.. Because as far as I know, she trusts you a lot...

V: Haa bataya hai...

DD: Yeah that means you know... Main Bani se mila office ke interview mein.. When I was shortlisted, Bani came to call us for the one-on-one interview because I was going to be appointed under her... That's the first time I saw her, and the moment I saw her I could see my sister in her... Like, kya batau main, her way of talking and her facial structure was very similar to my sister... During the interview, I kept on smiling, and in return got a scolding from her.. From then, I kept on roaming around her and staying near her most of the time, and she kept avoiding me.. One day, Shraddha came to meet me at office, and met Bani there.. She recognised her because I talked about Bani a lot at home, and Shraddha explained her about my weird behaviour.. Bani understood, and called me in her cabin the next day.. Main to bohot dara hua tha, par andar jaate hi Bani ne mujhe hug kiya.. That's how our friendship happened... She started hanging out with us.. She would come here to surprise us, and also made my entry in her cabin permission-free *laugh*...

Ab tu soch raha hoga main ye sab tujhko kyu keh raha hoon abhi... Kyunki ye introduction tha... Hehe... Asli story suru hota hai ab...

V: *smiling at his expressions*....

DD: 4 saal pehle, aisehi ek Sunday ko Bani aayi humare yaha... But that day, she looked bothered... There were tear stains on her face... Main puchhne wala tha ki kya hua hai, but before I could ask her anything, she suddenly started breathing heavily and fainted.. We both were shocked... Humne turant Bani ko hospital leke gaya, and after checking her, the doctor informed us that she had suffered a panic attack.. Hume pata nahi tha ye sab kaise hua kyu hua, because she never told us anything about herself... She was very critical at that time, the doctor had almost lost hopes... Jahnvi aunty aake baithe rehti thi hospital mein, Tej uncle din mein 6-7 bar aate the... Main aur Shraddha to wahi reh rahe the raat raat bhar.. After about 6 days, she gained consciousness... Doctor ne usse uska history puchha to pata chala that it was not the first time that she had got a panic attack, it was the 6th time..

V: *shocked* WHAAATTTT?!..

DD: Hmmm.. But, usne ye baat Jahnvi aunty aur Tej uncle ko batane se mana kar diya.. I don't know why she did that, but she did... Abhi tak uncle aunty ko yahi pata hai ki that was her first panic attack... After she recovered, she insisted on staying alone... She didn't have a flat back then, so she tried to rent a house... Humne kaha humare sath rehne ke liye, but she was not ready... Actually she is very self-dependent, she doesn't like taking help from anyone.. Shraddha ne bohot daanta use, and finally she agreed to stay with us.. Uncle aunty se humne kaha ki we want Bani to stay with us, and they agreed after a lot of pleading... Ye pichhe ki story kuch bhi uncle aunty ko pata nahi hai, tu bata mat dena.... This is all a secret between us and Bani, main tujhe bata raha hoon because you have the right to know...

V: *confused* Oh...Yeah I won't tell then anything..

DD: Good... Toh, Bani ko yaha lane ke baad humne usse jaanna chaha sabkuch... Sabkuch to nahi batayi usne, par itna pata hai ki the last panic attack was because of some family issues... Dekh, tujhe shayad nahi pata, Bani bohot hi reserved type ki larki hai... She would stay around you and behave absolutely normal with you, and tujhe pata bhi nahi chalega ki uske andar kya chal raha hai... You won't believe, she took 2 years to open up in front of us, wo bhi puri tareeke se nahi.. Abhi bhi bohot saari cheezein hai jo humein nahi pata...

She is a great listener, a great friend, a very understanding person...You can say her about anything and she would make sure to keep it as a secret... Har situation ko samajh jaati hai, aur uske hisaab se adjust kar jaati hai.. But usse uske apne baare mein kuch bulwana ho to bohot difficult hai... Kaam karti hai, par jatata nahi... She keeps her feelings bottled up within herself... But, she never keeps grudges against anyone... She is very easy to melt, you just need to apologise sincerely... It is very easy to make her happy, you just give her a chocolate and a flower or say her some nice things and she will be happy for the next few days... Tujhe pata hai?! She donates huge amount of money to an orphanage and an oldage home... Har Sunday ko jaati hai waha...

V: *shocked and guilty about his thoughts* Wowww...

DD: Yep... She loves to make others happy... Humesha yeh, woh, kaise isko khush kare, kaise usko khush kare... Pagal hai bilkul... But, apne aap ko bohot caged rakhti hai... Feelings khul ke bata nahi sakti hai.. Hum itne dino se pehchante hai isliye samajh jaate hai, par koi aur samajh hi nahi pata hai ki uske andar kya chal rahi hai... Gussa nahi reh paati hai zyada der tak, pighal hi jaati hai... Overall, she is the best person in this world I have ever met... You are really lucky to have her as your life partner...

To say that Veer was guilt-stricken with all these revelations would be very less. He felt miserable. He wanted the earth to split and gulp him down. He felt as if he was the worst person on this earth. Bani surely didn't deserve him at all.

V: *teary eyed* You are right... I am really really lucky.. But, I wasted everything.....

DD: *sad* Arre bro.... Mujhe ab lag raha hai maine galti kardiya tujhe sab batake... Aise ro kyu raha hai tu... Bani ko agar pata chala ke maine tujhe rulaya hai, mujhe jhaaru se maregi yaar.. Plz chup ho ja mere bhai... Kuch nahi bigra hai.. Sun, tu meri baat maan.. You try to make her vent out her anger... Jabtak wo nahi hoga, tab tak problem hoga.. She keeps everything suppressed within her, isliye use panic attacks aa jate hai.. Is bar bhi aisa hi hua... Gussa dikhaya nahi usne, apne andar dabake rakhdi, isliye attack aa gaya... Do anything to make her say everything that is in her heart... Saari bharas nikalne de uski.. Kuch bhi kar iske liye... After that, apologize sincerely to her, and the work is done... Agar ye sab ke baad bhi wo tujhse dur raha, to tu mera naam Dheeraj se badalke Bajarbattu Dhoopar rakh dena...

V: *laugh slightly* Kuch bhi..Anyways, sab share karne ke liye thanks.. And I will surely follow your words...

DD: Arre yaar, thanks mat bol..*smile* Anything for you bro and anything for my Jaan's happiness...

They gave each other a brotherly hug and then Veer left for office.

It was 5 pm when Daksh entered in the building of Mercury Industries. He was passing Veer's cabin, but he stopped seeing Veer's condition. From the last few days, he noticed that Veer was behaving a little odd. He would come and directly go to his cabin without meeting anyone, and then after completing his works he would leave for home. But today, Daksh saw that he was looking much more dull than other days. It was as if all his charm had lost. Daksh realised that he needed to sort it out asap, and left from there.

Bani came back early from office today. She was sitting in the hall and chopping vegetables. Suddenly the bell rang. She quickly washed her hands and went to open the door. There, she saw Daksh standing. She smiled and welcomed him in.

B: Andar aao Daksh.... Kya hua, aise achanak se aana para?!..

Daksh: Bhabhi aapse kuch important baat karna hai.. Aj apke room mein jake baithe?!..

B: Haan chalo... *shocked* Ek min...

Daksh: *smiling* I know aap dono alag rooms mein rehte hai... Main usdin hi samajh gaya tha..

B: Ohh...chalo..

They went to Bani's room, and Daksh sat on the couch. Bani sat beside him, and Daksh started talking.

Daksh: Bhabhi, main direct point pe aata hoon... Aap dono ke beech kuch problen hua hai right?!...

B: *looking here and there* Ummm...

Daksh: Bhabhi, you don't need to cover it up.. Mujhe us din hi pata chal gaya tha jab Veer bhai ne call karke Shailee-maa se kaha tha to not disturb you as you would be busy in your own works..

B: Ye kab hua?!...

Daksh: Mmm.. Last week Monday...

Bani was shocked at this new information. Now she understood why no one from her in-laws contacted her since that incident.

Daksh: So, tabse Veer bhai is behaving really weird.. Office mein aake kisise baat nahi karte hai.. Sirf apne kaam mein hi engrossed rehte hai... Also, he has stopped eating lunch for the last few days...

B: *shock* What?!...

Daksh: Yes bhabhi... See, humare parivar mein agar Veer bhai kisise sabse close hai, to wo hoon main.. We have always been together since our childhood.. Aisa kuch nahi hai jo hum ek dusre ko nahi batate hai.. Haa, Veer bhai apne problems nahi batate hai mujhe, par uske alawa I know everything about him.. Par, maine Veer bhai ko aise kabhi nahi dekha hai.. He seems to have lost his charm.. It is so unlike Veer bhai... Bhabhi, mujhe pata hai ke shayad ap dono ke beech jo bhi huya hai, usme galti Veer bhai ka hi hai... I can see that guilt in his eyes.. But along with that, I can also see hollowness in his eyes.. It looks like as if he has lost a very important part of his life.. Bhabhi, only you can fix this.. Veer bhai is not good with strangers, but I have seen him warm up with you in only 2 weeks... You are someone special for him Bhabhi... Veer bhai galat ho sakte hai, par bure nahi hai.. Jin logo ke care karte hai, unke liye jaan bhi de sakte hai.. I am a living example of that...
Aapko ek incident batata hoon... Ek bar we were playing in the garden with a ball.. Suddenly the ball went out on the road, and a stray dog picked it up.. The dog was very aggressive... Main bachha tha, samajh nahi paya aur chala gaya uss kutte se ball chhin ne.. Veer bhai ne ye dekha, aur daurte huye mere peeche aa gaye... Maine bahaduri karke kutte ke muh se woh ball chhin to liya, par kutte ne mujhpar attack kar diya... Wo kutta mujhe kaatta, isse pehle Veer Bhai mere samne aakar khare hogaye.. Kutte ne unko kaat liya pair mein... Agar Papa sahi waqt par naa aaye hote to Veer bhai ka to jaan hi chala jaata...16 injections lage the unko, par wo roye nahi... Sirf ye kehte rahe, "Daksh safe hai to main thik hoon"...

Bani was moved with Veeranshu's care for his brothers. She had tears in her eyes.

Daksh: Bhabhi plz aap kuch kariye.. Plz mere Veer bhai ko pehle jaisa bana dijiye.. Plz bhabhi....

B: *holding his hands* Tum chinta mat karo Daksh, main dekhti hoon.. I promise you to bring your Veer bhai back very soon...

Daksh: Thanks bhabhi... Mujhe bas yahi bolna tha... Ab main chalta hoon.. Kisiko batana mat ke main yaha aaya tha...

B: Nahi bataungi...

Daksh smiled and left from there.

Veer came back from office and directly went to his room. About 1 hour after his return, Bani was in her room planning what to do to bring Veer back to normal, when she heard Veer start singing. He was singing "Humari Adhuri Kahani..." but without playing the guitar. She realised that his voice sounded different today. It was very slurry. Suddenly a thud sound came from his room, and the singing stopped. Bani ran to her room forgetting everything.

She opened the door to find him lying on the floor. His room smelled strongly of alcohol. Bani realised that he was drunk. She went near him and made him stand. She held him from his waist and made her lie on his bed. He had not passed out, he was still murmuring something. Bani went near his face to listen to him. He was continuously blabbering "Humari Adhuri Kahani". Within few moments, he passed out completely. Bani sat beside him and started talking to his unconscious self. She was crying.

B: *crying* Kyu karte ho tum aisa Veeranshu, kyu?!... Kya zarurat hai itna peene ki... Apne liver ko kharab kar rahe ho, aur kuch nahi... Kya tumhare peene se main wapas aa jaungi?!... Maine suna khana khana bhi chhor diye ho... Kya mila ye sab karke?!... Tum na ekdam buddhu ho Mr. Veeranshu Singhania... Sab kar sakte ho, par mujhse aake ekbar baat nahi kar sakte... Veeranshu, aur kitna intezar karaoge?! Ab to aajao, ekbar baat karlo mujhse, maafi manglo aakar... Mujhe pata hai ke tumne jo kuch bhi kaha uske pichhe kuch wajah tha, par agar tum mujhe bataoge hi nahi to main yakeen kaise karu.. Tum bas ek kadam badhao meri taraf, main 10 kadam badhaungi, pakka... Bas ekbar aake maafi manglo mujhse, sab kuch bhulake tumhe gale laga lungi... Likhke sorry bolna bohot aasan hai, par muh se bolna nahi... Isliye main chahti hoon ke tum mujhse aake kaho.. *caressing his face* Kya haal banaya hai tumne apna?! DD sahi kaha usdin, tum sach mein ek bachha ho abhi bhi.. Apna khayal bhi nahi rakh sakte ho thik se... I miss you Veeranshu, I miss you... Kya jaadu chalaya hai tumne mere upar?!.. Mujhse kyu nahi raha jaata tumse door?!... Inn do hafto mein aadat hogayi hai tumhari, bohot buri wali aadat, jo kabhi chhootta nahi... Gussa nahi raha jaa raha hai mujhse, jaldi aake maafi manglo yaar...

Bani kept her head on his chest and stayed like that for sometime. She then stood up and picked up the bottle of alcohol. While picking up, she saw many empty alcohol bottles under the bed. She sighed and cleared all the mess. After that, she came and kissed on Veer's forehead, and went to sleep.

The next morning, Veer woke up with a bad headache. He sat up on the bed, and tried remembering what happened last night. The last thing he remembered was Bani making him lie on his bed. A smile automatically came on his face realising that Bani had come to him yesterday. He was going to get up when he noticed a glass of lemonade kept on the bedside table. A sticky note was attached to it which said "Peelo ise.." Veer smiled and drank it. He had finally got the signal from her that he was waiting for... Now, he would try till the end to win her back....

After freshening up, he went downstairs. He saw a plate and a tiffin box kept on the table. He went near it and saw that each of them had a sticky note on it. The note on the plate read "Pura khana khake ghar se nikalna...", and the note on the tiffin box read "Ye lunch hai... Khatam karna isko😡...". Veer smiled at the cute angry emoji. He quickly ate his breakfast and went to keep the dish in the sink. There, he saw another note: "Aage se daaru peena ho to ghar ke bahar hi rehna...". He smiled at her concern and went upstairs after taking the notes. He texted Bani. Bani's contact name was already changed to Sweetheart✨.

Veer realised she was offline, and he went to get ready for office.

Throughout the day, Veer kept on texting Bani. Sometimes he texted her casually, while sometimes he flirted. Bani would reply to him occasionally, but only with emojis. She was getting irritated, but at the same time smiling seeing his cute efforts.

Bani replied him and got down of the car. She went to her room and freshened up. Veeranshu started singing "Bin Tere"....

Bani quickly went down and served the dinner in two plates. She kept one plate outside his room. Veer saw Bani keeping the dinner, and smiled.

Bani took out her ukulele from the cupboard, and sat in the balcony. She started singing the next stanza, and Veer stopped amazed.

Veer matched his voice with her, and they started singing together...

The song ended, and left smiles on both of their faces.

They ate their dinner, and went to sleep. Before sleeping, Veer texted Bani goodnight, and she replied with a emoji.

They both went to sleep with a smile, hoping for a better tomorrow...
