3.4 Love between Us

The Vidai had just finished, and Meera, along with her family, was making her way toward the car. As she stepped forward, Bani followed closely behind.

Suddenly, Bani's heel caught on the edge of the carpet, and she stumbled. A flash of panic flickered across her face, but before she could fall, a hand caught her wrist, steadying her.

It was him. Veer.

"Careful," his voice was low, filled with an unspoken concern that made her heart race.

Bani quickly yanked her arm away from his hold, trying to mask the surprise in her eyes. "I don't need your help," she said coldly, looking away.

But Veer didn't pull back immediately. His fingers lingered on her skin for a moment longer than necessary. "Maybe not. But everyone needs someone to catch them, even if they won't admit it."

His words hung in the air, heavy and unyielding. Bani's chest tightened. "I'm fine," she insisted, pushing past him, though her heart beat rising .

Veer watched her walk away, an almost smile playing on his lips. His eyes followed her retreating figure, a longing in his gaze that he couldn't quite hide.

The evening was winding down, and the house had settled into a quiet hum. In a secluded room, away from the ongoing rituals, Balwant and Pawan stood discussing something far more serious than the celebrations around them.

"I've been thinking," Balwant began, his voice low. "It's time we check Veer's kundali. There are too many signs pointing to him... signs I can't ignore."

Pawan raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable. "Koi khatra hai kya??"

Balwant's eyes darkened as he leaned forward, his fingers tightening around the edge of the table. "It could be. There are too many unanswered questions. Bohot kuch ho bhi sakta hai.Uske janam ke time pe uss pandit ne kuch bataya tha uske past ke baare uski jaan ko khatra hai jab vo 25 years ka hoga Par kyu ye baat nahi batayu thi unhone Hume jab vo 25 ka ho jayega taab unse puchne ko bola tha."

Pawan's expression shifted. "Aur ye baat Veeranshu ko batani chahiye ya nahi?"

Balwant's lips curled into a dangerous smile. "Bilkul nahi. If anyone can protect him from the truth, it's me."

Pawan nodded slowly, but a shadow crossed his face."Thik hai Bhaisahab aap shukla ke saath jakar pandit se milo.Main Rakesh matter tab tak sambhal lunga ."

"Hmm ," Balwant said firmly, the weight of his words hanging in the air. ""

The house was alive with laughter, the sounds of celebration ringing through the air. Veer, however, stood apart from the rest, his posture rigid, his mind far from the festivities. The other cousins were engaged in the Grah Pravesh rituals, teasing and laughing as they completed each step.

Ponky nudged Veer, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Why so quiet, Veer Bhai."

Veer's lips twitched into a half-smile, but his eyes remained distant. "I'm fine," he said, his voice carrying an edge of irritation.

Daksh added, "You sure? You're not looking like the life of the party today. Something on your mind Bhai?"

"Nothing."said Veeranshu with disinterested tone. His thought occupied with Bani .He never felt for anyone anything now suddenly a human girl taking his peace was new for him.He can't keep his thoughts away from her.

He clenched his jaw, his voice barely above a whisper. "Why do you haunt me, Bani?"

A sudden wave of realization hit him. This isn't just some passing feeling. It's deeper. It's like a pulse-something I can't ignore. And I don't want to.

He shook his head, pushing the thought away. There was too much at stake. He had a duty, but... this? This obsession? He had to figure it out.

Veer's POV

Later that night, as the house quieted down, Veer stood alone in his room, his gaze fixed on the moonlit sky. The cool breeze seeped in through the open window, but it did little to soothe the burning questions inside him.

"Why does she feel so familiar?" The thought lingered, teasing his mind. "Bani... I know there's something about her. Something I can't explain. Her presence, her energy-it calls to me. It's like... destiny has already marked her as mine."

His hands balled into fists at his sides, his body trembling with a mix of frustration and longing. "I'm not imagining this. She feels it too. I saw it in her eyes today. She's pushing me away, but her heart-her heart is already starting to beat in sync with mine."

Veer paced the room, unable to shake the feeling that something monumental was about to happen between them.

"I need to see her. I need to be near her. The pull is too strong... and I won't fight it any longer. Bani, you don't know this yet, but you're mine. I'll make you see it."

A dark smile curled on his lips. He wasn't sure what this connection was-whether it was fate or something more sinister-but he knew one thing for sure: he would stop at nothing to claim what was his.
