2.2 Family Time
After eight months,
Bani was curled up on the bed, flipping through a magazine. Veer walked in, his sleeves rolled up and his usual confident stride making her look up.
"Mrs. Singhania, tumhare liye special delivery," he said, placing a tray on the bedside table. On it was a bowl of freshly cut fruits, nuts, and a glass of almond milk.
Bani arched an eyebrow. "Veer, tumhe pata hai na mujhe fruits ke saath ye milk combos bilkul pasand nahi?"
Veer smirked, sitting beside her and leaning casually against the headboard. "Aur tumhe pata hai na ki mujhe tumhare aur baby ke health ke saath compromise bilkul pasand nahi?"
Bani narrowed her eyes playfully. "Bossy much?"
"Bossy nahi, thoughtful," he corrected, picking up a slice of apple and holding it out to her. "Chalo, ab bina nakhre ke khao."
Bani sighed but took the bite, pretending to be annoyed. "Tumhara yeh health freak mode mujhe pagal kar dega, Veer."
Veer chuckled, his tone turning softer. "Pagal toh main hoon, tumhare liye."
Bani felt her cheeks warm, but she quickly masked it with a mock glare. "Cheesy lines mat maaro, Mr. Singhania."
Veer’s lips curved into a lazy smile, his grey eyes glinting with mischief. "Fine, no cheesy lines. Lekin yeh baat toh sach hai ki tum aur chhota Singhania meri duniya ho."
Bani’s expression softened. She placed her hand over his, guiding it to her baby bump. "Feel that?" she asked as the baby kicked lightly.
Veer’s eyes widened for a moment, and then a rare, unguarded smile spread across his face. "Yeh toh meri team ka member ban raha hai—already responding to me."
Bani laughed, shaking her head. "Acha? Tumhare team ka hai? Toh mere nakhre kaun uthane wala hai?"
"Main," Veer said instantly, his voice dropping to a tender tone. "Tumhare nakhre uthane ke liye toh main hamesha tayar hoon."
Bani leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Kabhi kabhi lagta hai tum itne perfect kyun ho?"
Veer tilted her chin up, his eyes meeting hers. "Perfect nahi hoon, Bani. Lekin tumhare liye better banna chahte hoon, har din."
She smiled, her heart swelling with love. They stayed like that, the world outside forgotten, as their baby’s tiny movements reminded them of the beautiful journey they were on together.

Later that night,
The evening was peaceful, the soft glow of the lamps creating a warm and serene atmosphere. Bani lay in Veer's arms, the steady beat of his heart soothing her. His fingers traced gentle patterns on her back, the comfort of his touch wrapping around her like a cozy blanket.
"Veer..." Bani murmured softly, her voice almost lost in the silence.
"Hmm?" he responded, his voice low and relaxed, as if he could stay like this forever.
"I love how you hold me," Bani said, her voice filled with a softness that only he could evoke. "It feels like I’m in the safest place in the world when I’m with you."
Veer’s eyes softened as he gazed at her. He brushed a lock of hair away from her face and smiled.
The room felt still, the world outside insignificant compared to the quiet bubble they were in. Veer’s fingers grazed her skin gently, his touch speaking volumes of his affection.
"Tum meri duniya ho, Bani," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
Bani’s heart fluttered at his words. She leaned in, brushing her lips against his in a tender kiss. "Aur tum mere ho, hamesha."
Just as the kiss deepened, a loud knock broke the silence, and Bani reluctantly pulled away. Meera’s voice rang from the door, cheerful and loud.
"Veer! Bani! Movie night, yaad hai na? Sab family waale intezaar kar rahe hain!" Meera called out, clearly in a hurry.
Veer’s expression shifted from warmth to mild annoyance. "Sach mein?" he muttered, rolling his eyes. "Bas thoda aur... phir movie night?"
Bani chuckled softly, brushing a kiss on his cheek. "Lagta hai movie night ka waqt aa gaya, Mr. Grumpy."
Veer sighed, but a playful smile tugged at his lips. "Movie night... I know, I know. Aa raha hoon," he said, his tone resigned yet affectionate.
Bani sat up and stretched, still smiling. "Chalo, aaj kuch mazaa karein."
Veer groaned, pulling her back into his arms for a moment longer. "Main toh bas ek aur minute chahta tha... lekin theek hai, family time bhi zaruri hai."
Bani laughed softly, tapping his chest playfully. "Family time bhi zaruri hota hai, Veer."
"Bilkul," Veer said, though his tone remained teasing. "Lekin ek baat yaad rakhna, koi aur rom-com mat dikhana, samjhi?"
Bani grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Dekhte hain, shayad tumhe pasand aa jaye."
As they both stood up, ready to join the family, Veer paused, taking Bani’s hand in his. He pulled her in close, his face lighting up with mischief. "Ek aur kiss, phir hum family ke beech chalte hain."
Bani smiled, her heart fluttering. "Sirf agar tum promise karoge ki yeh jaldi ho, Meera di phir se darwaza peetne waali hai."
Veer smirked, his eyes full of playfulness. "Jaldi toh hoga, lekin yaad rakhna... memorable bhi hoga."
They shared a soft, lingering kiss, feeling the love between them. Then, with one last squeeze, they headed out to join the family. Despite the interruption, their bond was clear, and the warmth of their connection filled the space between them.
As they entered the living room, the noise of the family gathered for movie night filled the air, but Veer and Bani shared a glance, their love still burning bright. Family was important, but they knew that their quiet moments together were priceless.

Next,
The early morning sunlight filtered gently through the curtains, casting a soft golden hue across the room. Veer was already up, standing in front of the mirror, adjusting his cufflinks and straightening his shirt.
As he finished getting ready, he turned to the side, placing his hand gently on Bani's baby bump. He smiled, his eyes softening as he looked down at her.
"Good morning, little one," he murmured, his voice low and affectionate. "Aaj mummy ke liye main apne haatho se breakfast banaunga . Tum dono ko zaroor pasand aayega."
He leaned down, kissing Bani's stomach gently before turning to head into the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Veer was busy preparing breakfast—something light yet special. He was chopping fruit and arranging a plate of warm toast and scrambled eggs, all the while thinking of how to make Bani’s morning just a little bit better. He knew she was getting closer to the big day, and he wanted everything to be perfect for her.
Just as he finished preparing, Bani walked into the kitchen, her hair slightly tousled from sleep, but still radiating that quiet beauty that always captivated him. She smiled, her eyes lighting up at the sight of breakfast.
"Waah, Veer, yeh sab tumne banaya?" she asked, her voice filled with both surprise and gratitude.
Veer gave her a soft smile."Bilkul."
Bani chuckled softly as she walked over to the table, placing her hand on her stomach. "Aaj tumne mujhe surprise dene ka socha tha."
Veer sat down across from her, his eyes never leaving her face."Haan Aaj tumhare liye surprise hai."
They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of the moment between them. Veer’s hand instinctively reached out to hold hers, and Bani’s fingers intertwined with his. In that moment, they shared a quiet understanding of everything they had been through to get here.
After they finished their breakfast, the family gathered in the living room. Meera, Tapish, and Veer's cousins, Ponky and Monil, were all there, chatting and laughing together.
As the family gathered around, the laughter and chatter continued, but suddenly, Bani felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen. She winced slightly, her hand immediately going to her belly.
Veer noticed immediately, his smile fading as concern washed over him. "Bani, kya hua? Tum thik ho?" he asked, his voice filled with worry as he rushed to her side.
Bani took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, but the pain intensified. "Veer... I think baby is coming ," she said, her voice trembling slightly.
Meera immediately noticed, her eyes widening with realization. "Bani, tumhe hospital le jaana hoga abhi."
Veer’s face went pale, but his instincts kicked in. He took her to hospital immediately accompanied by Meera too.

At the hospital,
The room was tense, filled with the sound of Bani’s labored breathing. She gripped Veer’s hand, her body tense with pain.
"Bani, sab thik ho jayega. Mujhe tum par bharosa hai," Veer said, his voice trembling as he tried to comfort her.
Bani gasped, the pain surging again. "Veer... bahut dard ho raha hai," she managed, her voice breaking.
Veer leaned close, his forehead against hers. "Main tumhare saath hoon, Bani. Tum kuch nahi hone do."
She squeezed his hand tighter, her body shaking. "Veer... yeh kab khatam hoga?" she cried, her voice filled with desperation.
"Bani you can do this" he said softly, but his eyes were full of fear.
The doctor entered quickly, her calm voice guiding them through the final moments. "Bani, bas thoda aur, aap kar sakti ho."
Bani’s grip tightened. "Its painful.."
"I’m here, Bani," he whispered, his voice filled with love and determination.
Bani gave one last push.
