Kaal lok

As Bani left the Singhania mansion her thoughts swirled with Veer’s words and the events from the forest. There was no denying the growing weight of the mystery—missing cheels, Shreya’s warning, and now the strange energy at the forest boundary. She needed answers.

But just as she stepped out of the building, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Tarun, her loyal warrior from Naag Lok:
“Aadinaagin, something urgent has come up. Meet me at the temple. It’s about the letter you received.”

Her heart skipped a beat. The letter—she had almost forgotten amidst everything else. She quickly hailed a cab and made her way to the temple.

At the Naag Temple:

The temple was quiet, the air heavy with the scent of incense and a sense of foreboding. Tarun was waiting near the sacred pond, his expression grim.

“Tarun, kya hua? Tumne kyun bulaya?” Bani asked, her tone urgent.

Tarun glanced around, ensuring they were alone before speaking in hushed tones. “Aadinaagin, humne aapke apartment ke aas-paas jo energy detect ki thi, woh normal nahi hai. Yeh kisi bahut purani shakti ka kaam lagta hai.”

“Purani shakti?” Bani frowned, her thoughts racing. “Shreya ne bhi kuch aisa hi kaha tha. Kya tumhe kuch aur pata chala?”

Tarun hesitated before handing her a small, intricately carved pendant. “Yeh humne usi boundary ke paas paaya jaha Shreya mili thi. Yeh pendant ek purane Lok ke raja ka symbol hai—Kaal Lok ka.”

Bani’s blood ran cold. Kaal Lok was a realm shrouded in darkness, its inhabitants exiled long ago for practicing forbidden magic. If they were involved, it could mean disaster for both Naag and Cheel clans.

“Yeh toh impossible hai,” Bani whispered. “Kaal Lok ki shaktiyan toh kayi saalon pehle khatam ho gayi thi. Lekin agar yeh wohi log hain, toh hum sab bohot bade khatre mein hain.”

Tarun nodded solemnly. “Aur aapke  aas-paas ki energy usi Lok se judi lagti hai. Tumhe sambhalna hoga, Bani. Yeh sirf aapke liye nahi, balki poore Naag Lok ke liye khatra hai.”

Meanwhile, at the Singhania mansion, Veer couldn’t shake the unease he felt. Mayuri’s intention ,the tension among his cheels, and now Shukla’s  behavior—it was all too much to ignore. He called Tapish to his room.

“Tapish bhai, mujhe sach-sach batao. Yeh sab kuch kya ho raha hai? Missing cheels, injured clan members—it’s not normal.”

Tapish hesitated, his face troubled. “Veer  kuch toh hai jo humse chhupa hai. Maine suna hai ki Shukla aur kuch cheels ek jagah gaye the, par wapas aaye toh sabke chehre utare hue the. Jaise kuch bohot bura dekha ho.”

Veer clenched his jaw, his protective instincts kicking in. “Mujhe us jagah ka pata chahiye. Main khud jaake dekhta hoon.”

“Lekin Veer—” Tapish began, but Veer cut him off.

“Koi lekin nahi, Bhai. Agar humare cheels khatre mein hain, toh mujhe unhe bachaana hi hoga.”

As night fell, Bani decided to return to the forest for further investigation. This time, she sensed she wouldn’t be alone. Her intuition was correct—Veer arrived moments later, his presence commanding as always.

“Tum yaha kya kar rahi ho?” he asked, his voice a mix of frustration and concern.

Bani folded her arms. “Wahi jo tum kar rahe ho. Investigate.”

Veer stepped closer, his gray eyes scanning Bani’s face as if trying to read her every thought. “Toh tum yahan aayi ho... investigate karne ke liye?”

Bani turned toward him, her chin lifting . “Haan, Veeranshu. Jo tumhare cheels ke saath ho raha hai, woh mere clan ke members ke saath bhi ho raha hai.”

His brows furrowed, the seriousness of her words striking him. “Tumhare log bhi target ho rahe hain? Kisne—?”

“Shreya,” she interrupted, her voice tightening. “Mere sabse trusted warrior ko attack kiya gaya. Injuries wahi hain jo tumhare cheel par dekhi gayi thi. Jab usse yeh halat mein dekha... tab mujhe samajh aaya ki hum dono ek hi dushman ka samna kar rahe hain.”

Before Veer could reply, a sudden  noise caught their attention. Both turned towards the source, their senses heightened. Emerging from the shadows was Mayuri.

“Arre wah,” she sneered, her voice dripping with venom. “Ek cheel aur ek naagin, ek saath? Kya baat hai.”

Veer stepped in front of Bani protectively. “Mayuri, Mai janta hun tum kya ho and yaha kyu aayi ho agar tumne kuch bhi kiya, toh uska anjam bura hoga.”

Mayuri laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the forest. “Oh, Veeranshu, tum samajhte kyun nahi? Yeh sirf shuruaat hai. Jo shaktiyan tum dono ko khinch rahi hain, unka samna karne ke liye tum dono tayaar nahi ho.”

Bani felt a surge of anger. “Tumhe kya pata hai humare baare mein?”

Mayuri’s smile widened. “Tumhare baare mein jitna tum khud jaanti ho, usse zyada. Lekin jawab chahte ho, toh Kaal Lok ke darwaze par aao. Tab samajh aayega ki tum dono ke beech ka bandhan kitna gehra aur khatarnak hai.”

With that, she disappeared into the darkness, leaving Veer and Bani more confused.

The tension in the air was thick as they stood in the quiet forest, the rustling sounds fading away.

“Bani,” Veer finally broke the silence, his voice steady but carrying an edge, “We need to work together on this.”

She turned sharply to face him, her eyes narrowing. “Work together? Tum jo bhi kar rahe ho, wo mujhe bilkul nahi pasand. Aur ab tum yeh keh rahe ho ke humein saath kaam karna hoga?”

Veer’s gaze was unwavering, his expression serious. “Yes. Humare clans ka future iss investigation pe depend karta hai. Tum samajhti ho na ki jo kuch ho raha hai, wo sirf tumhare liye nahi hai? Tumhare log bhi khatre mein hain, Bani.”

Bani scoffed, unwilling to acknowledge his words. “Main apni logon ki khud dekhne ki zimmedari leti hoon, Veer. Tumhara kya matlab hai?”

Veer’s jaw tightened, and he took a step closer, his tone blunt and to the point. “Mujhe tumhare trust ki zarurat nahi, Bani. Tumhare personal grudges aur ego ko side mein rakhna hoga. Agar hum dono alag-alag chalenge toh hum dono kaamyaab nahi honge. Kaal Lok ki shaktiyan humare sabke liye khatarnak hain. Tum yeh samajh rahi ho, ya nahi?”

Bani’s eyes flickered with uncertainty, the mention of Kaal Lok making her blood run cold. “Kaal Lok… Tumhein lagta hai yeh sab unhi se related hai?”

Veer gave a single nod. “Haan. Aur agar hum dono alag-alag raaste apnaye, toh hum dono ke log, humare clans sab ek bahut bade khatre mein padenge. Tumhe apni personal grudges ko ek side mein rakhke sochna hoga. Tumhe apne logon ka sochna hoga.”

Bani took a step back, her mind racing. She had been getting strange feelings, ever since she discovered Shreya’s attack and the pendant from the forest. Her paranoia about Kaal Lok was growing, and now this—Veer’s sudden proposal to work together. The thought of trusting him was still bitter on her tongue, but the reality of the situation was hitting her hard.

“I don’t trust you, Veer,” she muttered under her breath, eyes narrowing. “But… I can’t ignore the danger either.”

Veer remained composed, his gaze unwavering. “It’s not about trust, Bani. It’s about survival. Tumhe apne logon ki suraksha chahiye, aur mujhe apne cheels ki. Agar tum mere saath ho, toh hum dono apne clans ko is khatre se bachane ke liye kuch kar sakte hain.”

Bani looked at him for a long moment, her chest tight with indecision. Her instincts were warning her not to trust him, but something about his calm composure—the certainty in his words—pulled at something inside her. She didn’t want to admit it, but Veer might actually be right.

“Fine,” she said finally. “We do this your way. But don’t think for a second that I trust you.”

Veer’s lips twitched into a smirk. “Trust is overrated, Bani. Let’s focus on the problem at hand.”

Bani nodded, the weight of the situation sinking in. She still didn’t trust him—not by a long shot. But right now, she had no other choice. The Kaal Lok threat was too big to ignore.

Veer stepped back, his eyes still fixed on her. “Good. Let’s get to work.”

As Bani stood there, feeling the surge of adrenaline kick in, she knew this was only the beginning. The line between their clans was blurry now, and whatever happened next, she couldn’t do it alone. But trusting Veer? That would take time—if ever.
