Prologue: Diamond

The red-haired male groaned as he pushed every single limb in his body to keep moving him through the dark and deserted alleyway.

Bright red, dry-looking strands of hair hung in front of his eyes, handicapping his sight and making him groan again, a slender and beautiful but strongly trembling hand, decorated by various shiny, luxurious rings, reaching up to gently push his fringe away from his continuously blinking eyelids, revealing a pale forehead and strong, dark eyebrows.

Somewhere, far in the distance, he could hear crickets chirping, along with the scraping of his own leather boot's sole being shuffled along the concrete.

Panting and bloodshot, desperate yet emotionless eyes flickering, he kept dragging one foot behind the other, wanting to groan in agony.

"S-Stupid... I should've eaten when I... could," he forced out of his clammy throat, eyes roaming around for a potential prey.

A deer. A rabbit. Anything.

Or if he was lucky, the most delicious of them all.

Human.

He needed blood. A lot of it.
Or he would go crazy. Or he would collapse... and perhaps, decay after a certain amount of time.

Curse him for having a clumsy and forgetful little mind, renovating his new house (by himself!) for two weeks straight instead of feeding on anything and ignoring his thirst. And now that the time had come, he didn't think he could live another single moment without the taste of fresh, warm blood.

And as if the angels high above had heard his continuous begs induced by weakness and hunger and granted his wishes, he found his prey for the night, steering directly towards him.

A young woman in her twenties, a violin case on her back and a bag of sheet music in her left hand. She was wearing a red dress, reaching below her mid-thigh and an also red cardigan to cover up her arms and shoulders. Her feet were sporting black, shiny high heels, click-clacking on the old concrete with every single step she took.

She was probably heading home from a long and exhausting recital, waiting to get home and drink a warm cup of tea and get some long, relaxing hours of sleep.

But the male didn't care about that. All of a sudden, his exhaustion and weariness were corrupted by one thing:
The smell of blood, human blood.
It made him act before it made him think. It always did.

Suddenly gaining all of his senses and full conscience back, he breathed out in relief, closing his eyes and standing in front of the woman within a millisecond.

A loud shriek left the female's throat, her dropping her bag of sheet music in shock.
Not even sparing the bag a single glance, she turned around and tried to run away as fastly as possible, her high heels click-clacking loudly on the ground again.

The man tsk'ed, grabbing her shoulder from behind and positioning himself opposite from her.
"Be quiet and don't move," he spoke lowly, boring his eyes right into hers, his pupils dilating and constricting regularly.
And suddenly, she did not utter another word or move a single limb, just staring into the distance with wide eyes. It was almost as if she was hypnotised.

He smiled sweetly.
"Awesome. So, just to check..." His eyes moved towards the gold necklace around her neck, his thin fingers touching it carefully, as if it could've burned him.
"...Good, no vervain."

Now, his gaze wandered towards the woman's arms and hands, checking for any other jewlery.
And as he checked her diamond bracelet for any more traces, he smirked in satisfaction, his tongue slightly sticking out.

"No vervain either. Perfect, no hunters in this town," he whispered, silently cheering.
"Okay, woman." He got serious again, his gaze boring into hers again and his pupils dilating and constricting as they did before, her orbs absorbing the energy radiating from his pupils without hesitation.

"You will not scream, you will not run. When I'm done with you and you gain consciousness again, you will go home and say a wild animal in the forest attacked you. Except if I accidentally kill you in the process. Hundreds of years and sometimes, I'm still clumsy and accidentally sever my targets' jugular veins. Oopsie." He giggled as he saw the mortified expression on her face, her not being able to react properly.

"Okay, that's enough chitchat for now. I'm hungry as fuck...," he simpered sweetly, moving his face closer towards her bare neck.
And that's when he gave in to his thirst for the deep red liquid beneath her skin and pulsating through her veins, blood.

All of a sudden, his eyes turned into a deep colour of red and his canines increased in size, turning into sharp fangs.
And when he sank them into the human's soft skin, the godly taste of blood immediately entered his mouth, making him gasp in delight.

It had been two weeks since he had fed on anyone. Two whole damn weeks.

Those damn hunters.

Once he started sucking all the blood out of the woman's veins, he couldn't stop. He felt too good, too powerful.
He had missed that feeling more than anything.

And when he finally let go of her due to lack of air with a harsh pant, her body fell limp on the floor, atop her violin case which gave an unpleasant, squeaking sound as it collided with the concrete floor harshly.

He breathed in and out deeply, savoring the delicious taste.
"It's been so long since I had human blood... so tasty..."
His gaze reached the floor with the unconscious female on it, blood seeping from her neck and flowing all the way to her sheet music sprawled across the floor, the notes of Bach's 'Chaconne' printed on it.

His mouth formed an 'O' as he kept examining his target.
"I remember this piece from when I was born, one of my favourites. It came a bit out of fashion, but it aged well..."
With another sickly sweet smile, his gaze now wandered over her limp wrist with the diamond bracelet shining brightly which provoked him.

In a jolt, he pulled the bracelet off her wrist and held it in his slightly bloody hands, his smile growing even more.

The bright, gleaming diamonds, twinkling innocently under the powerful moonlight in contrast to the dark, treacherous liquid smeared all over his hands.
He did not know that crimson combined with the transparency of the glittering jewel could look so divine.
It looked like innocence mixed with sin, it intrigued him.

"Pretty... I love shiny things..."
He began walking away, throwing one last look on her feet.

"You know what, lady? I'm taking this. I love your high heels too but too bad you're not my size," he mumbled, slipping the slightly bloody bracelet onto his tan wrist with his darl eyes twinkling with mischief and rubbing his sleeve over his face in order to wipe the remaining blood off his chin area.

He looked at the pretty bracelet in awe, letting out another giggle.
"This is why I prefer my targets to be women, they always have the prettiest jewellery for me to take." He showed a satisfied smirk, turning around to leave the alleyway.

But suddenly, he heard something that immediately made him freeze in shock.

"What are you doing, Mister?"
He felt his own blood run cold. A curious, high-pitched human voice. Someone had seen him.

That someone being a little raven-haired toddler, his doe eyes big and round and his tiny fists holding on to a beige-coloured bag in his hands. He was wearing a red jacket, a white shirt underneath, and some loose jeans.

Surprisingly, the little boy didn't look scared at all. Normally, the male would have expected any little kid to throw a crying fit and run to their parents while screaming their lungs out. But this one seemed different.

The child looked at him with curiosity shimmering everywhere inside his big, round eyes. The moonlight reflecting inside his dark orbs, he looked too calm to be a child that young. The little boy tilted his head to the side as he kept watching the person opposite of him.
"Mister? What is your name?"

Immediately, the man fell out of his little trance and shook his head in disbelief. There was something very wrong with this little kid, not once in his hundreds of years of lifetime had he seen something like that. He did not like it.
"My name? My name's Taehyung. Kim Taehyung."

"Oh. I've never seen you here before, Mister. Did you move here?"
The red-haired male, also known as Taehyung, massaged his temples while sighing. Why couldn't this kid just run away to his parents, crying and screaming? Where even were his parents? Was he an orphan?

"Okay, kid. Listen to me closely." He kneeled down and got down onto eye level with him, boring his eyes into the little child's with his pupils dilating and constricting again.
"You will run back to your parents and forget everything you saw. If they ask you anything, you will say you don't know," he ordered sternly.

"No! I don't know where my parents are, I lost them. Can you please, please, please bring me home with you? I don't want to spend the night out here, it looks lonely and cold," the little boy protested angrily, unfazed to Taehyung's clear orders.

What the hell? Why can't he be compelled? Is it because he's a kid?

"By the way, Mister. Are you a vampire? That would be suuuper cool, can you show me all your powers and tricks? Everyone thinks vampires are scary and bad, but I like them. They're cool. And I saw you eating that woman! That's what they do, right?," he continued without batting an eyelash, Taehyung just gaping at him.

It took him a while to regain his conscience.
"Little kid, whatever your name is. Vampires don't exist. They're pure fantasy to scare little kids like you. What you just saw? J-Just an... illusion. Mirage. Because you're... tired," he defended, tracing his still sharp teeth with his tongue. Ironically, he could still taste the blood inside his mouth.

The kid was still gaping at him in awe, his gaze still relaxed and calm. "My name's Jungkook, Mister. And I think vampires do exist, no matter what you say. And you haven't answered my question. Will you take me home with you? I'm scared of being alone in the cold forever. Pretty, pretty please?"

He can't be compelled, he's not scared of me, he believes in vampires. Fuck, what other choice do I have? I can't risk him running off and telling his parents or something, it'll raise suspicion and I wanted a clean slate...

And I can't kill him either, he's just a little kid!

Feeling his insides go soft at the toddler's huge puppy eyes, the redhead groaned.
Screw him and his soft spot for cute, little toddlers.

I mean... I could just try compelling him again tomorrow. And if I can't... I'll think of something.

"Fine, little kid. For tonight. First thing tomorrow, you will reach out to your parents and forget you ever met me!"
He immediately regretted his decision.

Fuck, Taehyung. Why'd you do that?

Jungkook nodded wildly.
"Yay! Mr. Vampire is taking me home with him!"
Taehyung widened his eyes, shaking his head profusely.

"I am not a vampire, you were having hallucinations. I'm a completely normal, mortal human," he lied, turning around and starting to walk elegantly with his head raised high. He traced his sharp teeth with his tongue again, the metallic and powerful taste of blood still lingering.

Creatures of the night.

Blood-suckers.

Also known as vampires.

They were very real and that was exactly what he was. He was a vampire.

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

(A/N: just to clarify beforehand, this book won't include any pedophilia or pedophilic thoughts, this is just pre-history for the plot! :D

you will probably be very confused the first few chapters (especially if you haven't watched the vampire diaries but dw, i'll explain the system in my introduction chapter) but please have faith in me and know that many things will be more understandable sooner or later, i just like being mysterious 😔

so anyways, that was my prologue and i hoped you somehow liked it👉🏻👈🏻 just like i said before, the first few chapters will be pre-history and maybe hard to understand but i'll do my best🥰
i hope you liked it (my first time writing supernatural stuff so naturally, i'm not very confident) but yeah, welcome to my new book and thank you for reading it💜💜)
