62: Blood Moon
The remaining month, the vampires did everything to secure themselves and double-check every single thing that could possibly put them in danger.
Mina was a great help, strengthening the protective barrier around the alleyways among which Taehyung's mansion lay and collecting herbs that would knock out any attacker trying to approach them while they were sleeping, herbs that lay under their pillows safely and soundly.
Taehyung also rummaged through his valuable chest full of crystals that his long-lost friend Tzuyu had gifted him, finding three pink gemstones (called spinel) that the three of them tied around their wrists which would ensure that all three spinels glow whenever one of them found themselves to be in a dangerous situation. They would've loved to provide Chaeyoung and Ahjin with one too (as Seokjin had also glimpsed them in the restaurant), but as there were only three, they agreed that only the hunter's main targets should wear a pink spinel bracelet.
However, not once was there any sign of attack. It simply seemed as if Seokjin had given up or forgotten about them in his plan. When it was so obvious he was planning something!
If this was a simple calm before the storm or if they were being paranoid, the three of them did not know. However, they all agreed that constant vigilance was the safest way to go and decided to stay cautious throughout the entire month of July. They told Jimin, Namjoon and Hoseok that their university professor was up to some devious plan, deciding to include them in supernatural business more often, which they appreciated.
"I always knew there was something fishy about this guy. I don't understand why he holds such a grudge against vampires," Jimin had said, shuddering as he imagined all the brutal and dangerous weapons inside Seokjin's house and simply being glad he wasn't a vampire.
Namjoon had congratulated them on putting safety first, Hoseok was too busy being anxious about the next full moon to actually focus on anything else. Only recently, he found out that he had bit and almost killed Taehyung during his first transformation. What if something like this would happen again?
Despite his protests out of fear of hurting anyone, the vampires insisted on being there during his next transformation, too. And although he was terrified of hurting someone without being conscious of it again, the werewolf was extremely glad to have such committed friends willing to stand by him through anything.
So, on July 31st, the day of the full moon, Taehyung and Jungkook agreed to take Hoseok to Taehyung's mansion in order to transform with Chaeyoung under Mina's watch. This way, they would all stay together and both werewolves would have company and maybe feel a little less lonely about their turning into a viscious beast once every month.
Around half past eight PM, the vampires called Hoseok to let him know they were coming to his apartment. However, it seemed that the werewolf was busy as he did not pick up his phone. What could possibly be more important than a full night moon for a werewolf, they did not know. But regardless, the vampires made themselves on their way to Jungkook's old dorm.
But it seemed like there was a surprise waiting for them. As soon as they stood in front of the room, they knew that something was not right.
Because the front door was ajar, as if someone had been in such a hurry they had forgotten to close it.
"This isn't good. Where is Hoseok?," Taehyung asked in panic, Jungkook simply standing next to him motionlessly.
"Maybe-- Maybe he's gone to the woods without us."
But the redhead was not impressed. "He would never do that without contacting us. Also, we agreed that we'd spend this month in my place's wine cellar. Something weird happened to him and I don't like it. Either we search for clues or we ask Mina to do a locator spell." The ravenette nodded.
"It could take ages to dig for clues." He grabbed a pair of Hoseok's dance shoes which would be required for the spell and closed the door. "Let's go. The sooner we find him, the better."
With their hands intertwined, they vampire-speeded all the way back to Taehyung's mansion and immediately started calling for Mina, furrowing their eyebrows when she didn't show. Coming to the conclusion that she might be in the wine cellar, the two of them raced towards it and were surprised to find the blonde witch pacing up and down through the room, every single one of her footsteps echoing harshly in the hollowness of the cellar and her expression frantic and desperate.
"Chaeyoung's gone. She was supposed to wait for me here," she reported gravely, stopping for a brief moment. "And that's not all." She pointed towards the side of the room, where they saw something that made them gasp in utter terror.
"Wha--"
There was a massive hole in the wall, no doubt that someone had used an axe or another object to create this hole on purpose. The question was just, who would do that and why?
"Hoseok's gone, too. There's no way this is a coincidence. Someone went werewolf-napping and they must know it's a full moon."
The three of them went upstairs, feeling fear and worry settle inside their stomachs. So not only was someone after vampires, werewolves were targeted, too?
By now it was almost half past nine, and the only thing they could do to find the missing werewolves was a locator spell, which Mina was only too glad to do. Jungkook had only once seen her so nervous, and that was when Taehyung was about to die from the werewolf bite.
Her voice was shaky and her hands trembling as she chanted the words for the locator spell on (first) Hoseok, fingers clutching the dancing shoes in desperation. After about two minutes of quiet chanting and squinting her eyes in hopes of seeing or feeling any sort of location, she opened her eyes widely.
"I can't feel him. I can't feel anything, it's like he's not there!"
"Maybe you need a map, maybe he's overseas or something?" She shook her head gravely. "No, it doesn't work like that. I'd still feel something, I'd just feel that he was far away. He's mentally absent, so he's either sleeping deeply, unconscious or dead. Let's hope it's the first one."
They tried another locator spell on Chaeyoung which ended up having the same problem, now there was no doubt these two cases were connected to each other. Mina tried few more spells for each werewolf, even laying out candles next to her or rinsing her hands with salt water to form a deeper connection to the spirits who helped her access magic. But it was still no use.
"Okay, now it's time to stop. You've done all you could, and all we can do now is go back to the dorm and search for clues," Jungkook stopped her when she tried yet another time, despite her nose bleeding and her face turning paler from overexertion. "But--"
"No can do."
"Oh my god." Taehyung stood up, slapping his palms on the table which made them jump. "What?"
"Oh my god! I know who has them." Taehyung sat down again, massaging his temples with his fingers.
"Kim Seokjin, isn't it obvious? He dug this hole in the forest, what if he dug it to get in here? He knew Mina cast a protection spell but she didn't cast it underground! So, he dug himself some sort of underground path to get here and used an axe to break the wall! And I bet my ass he has Hoseok to. But why, what does he want with them?" Both Mina and Jungkook gasped.
"So we need to cast the locator spell on Seokjin! Quick, do you have anything that belongs to him?" But Taehyung and Jungkook didn't listen, for their phones chimed at the same time and they rushed to check it.

Both of them had received the same text message from the same person. And all the panic they felt increased even more, as this case seemed to get more and more massive as it went on.
"Why would Jimin need help? Let's call him!"
So Jungkook did, putting him on speaker and holding his breath, feeling the loudness of his heartbeat in both his ears.
All three of them almost screamed in relief when the phone was picked up on its fifth ring.
"Hello? Jimin? You okay?"
"Something-- Something weird is going on!," a muffled voice screamed. This was clearly not a joke, Jimin was in grave danger.
"Jimin, hold on! Where are you? Who's with you?"
"I can't see anything, it's so dark! He-- He tricked Yoo outside my apartment and when I came look for her-- I--"
"He? Who's he, Jimin?!"
"Well, isn't it obvious? Our psycho ass uni professor!" Again, everyone gasped.
"Jimin, tell us exactly what you see. Is someone with you? Where do you think you could be?," Jungkook demanded.
"I'm afraid dear Jimin is in no state to answer your question. But perhaps I am," a different, much harsher voice suddenly answered. And immediately, everyone was frantic.
"You little bitch, you know it's me you want and not him! Release him at once, and Hoseok and Chaeyoung, too!," Taehyung screamed. There was bright, mocking laughter.
"But that wouldn't be any fun, would it? Why don't you come here and get them yourself? Bring Jungkook, too, I might have a surprise for him." The two vampires looked at each other simultaneously and nodded while each taking a deep breath. "Fine, we'll come. Tell us where you are."
"It's a bit of a long ride, although the two of you should have absolutely no problems getting there speedily, am I right?" Again, the laughter which they had so often heard during their law & economy classes, laughter that their classmates would fawn over but for them, it sounded like bells leading straight to hell.
"What-fucking-ever. Where the fuck are you, you little son of a motherfucking bitch?," Taehyung hissed angrily.
"Kim Taehyung, I trust you'll have no trouble finding it. The place your dearest friend, who was like a sister to you but ended up hating you- what a pity- found her tragic end. Twenty minutes, I think, you'll take to get here. Maybe half an hour? Shall we bet?" Taehyung felt like someone had cut off all his airways. Not once did he imagine even in his wildest dreams, that Seokjin would know about--
"Wipe that fucking grin off your face, moron, we're coming to end you once and for all!," he shouted into the phone, hanging up at once.
"The dungeon, Minari," the redhead spoke quietly, as if in trance, "where Tzuyu died, sealing that stupid egress." The witch gasped, holding a hand in front of her mouth.
"N-No... That's so far away. I don't have a car, how am I supposed to--"
"You look about as pale as a piece of chalk, you should rest and recharge your powers. We can do this on our own--," Taehyung fussed over his friend's overexterted state, clapping her on the shoulder and attempting to bolt towards the front door but halted as she held him back by grasping his wrist.
"W-Wait!"
Clutching her fists and unclutching them, she tapped them both on their heads and chanted Latin words which they could not understand in the slightest. Both of them looked at each other puzzled, wondering what on earth she was doing with them. However, before they could confront her, she let them go.
"Now you're ready to go," she slurred with a smile, reaching into her coat pockets. Within half a blink of the eye, she had sprayed a strange sort of powder over them, which tingled and burned slightly.
"Mina, what the--" But before Jungkook could even finish his sentence, the witch fainted right in front of their eyes. Taehyung's throat emitted something between a whine and a scream as he saw his friend sprawled across the cellar's floor, the surface draped with hair soft as spun gold. He almost fell on the floor in shock to kneel beside her and check her pulse, but Jungkook caught his waist before he could.
"We need to go, we don't have time! Who knows what sick stuff that man might be doing to our friends?!," the ravenette demanded.
"Jungkook, she might be dead and it's our fault! You have no idea how fast a witch can die because of using too much magic at once!"
"She's the last Myoui witch, do you really think her ancestors' spirits would let their only living heir die like that? We're going now!" Wanting to protest but feeling himself get pulled after the other vampire against his will, he reluctantly succumbed.
"So, where's that dungeon place that he talked about?"
