35: March

"For the last time: I am not giving Min Yoongi that necklace!"

Mina sighed, letting her head roll on Chaeyoung's lap dramatically. The three supernatural creatures were currently sitting on the freshly mown lawn in front of Cheonsang University: it was the first week of March, and the first flowers were starting to bloom under the golden rays of the morning sun. Birds started to announce the mornings again with their chirps and proud singing. It was as if nature was resurrecting itself, or waking up from a deep, deep sleep.

"Tae, is this about Tzuyu or about your pride being shattered? If it's the latter, you seriously need a reality check. There's literally nothing you can do." The blonde witch remained in a lying position, plucking daisies and collecting them in her hands gracefully.

"A little bit of both. This necklace is the last thing she gave me before that ritual happened and we... we never saw her again. What if it had some sort of deeper meaning? And there's no way I'm just giving in to some random dude like this." Mina sat herself up from Chaeyoung's lap again, now facing him.

"She made a choice. That choice resulted in her demise, evidently. But it happened and there's nothing we can do about it. And I'm sure there's no deeper meaning at all. An Original vampire's soul trapped, of course it's a valuable object. She probably predicted her own death at some point and decided to give it to her most trusted person. And that person was you, you were like a brother to her."

"Let me get this straight," Chaeyoung butted in, also plucking daisies off the field for no apparent reason. "Tzuyu was your guys' friend and you basically raised her. But she thought Taehyung killed her family and when she found out, she turned against you and teamed up with vampire hunters. She performed some sort of ritual to lock you inside a tomb and died by the force?"

"Eh, kinda." Taehyung took a fresh sip of blood from his tea bottle (luckily, Min Yoongi had kept his word and the hospitals had enough blood bags again). "After my last boyfie tried to kill me- no, locked me into some labratory, did sick, torturous experiments on me and then tried to kill me and I escaped, I was done with the world and turned off my emotions. You could say I went feral for a while, killed people for no reason and shit. It's true, Tzuyu's foster family was one of them. Her real mom died while giving birth to her and her dad was nowhere to be seen so she was adopted, but her foster family sucked ass and threw her out when her magical abilities showed uncontrallably."

"Poor girl still cared for them, though. And then she was completely on her own, until we found her and took her under our care. With Mina's help and the spirits' guidance or whatever the fuck, she learned to control her magic. Anyways, I didn't know they were her parents when I killed them, though it probably wouldn't have made a difference. But she found out and was heartbroken, she ran out on us without a single word. I can still remember her face, that face of betrayal. It still haunts me. Some vampire hunters found her and pressured her into doing that spell. They probably tried to make a bargain, told her they would be able to resurrect her shitty family if she did it or something. And alas, she didn't make it." Mina confirmed the story with a nod and Chaeyoung widened her eyes in surprise.

"Wow. If you killed my foster family, I wouldn't mind that much. Werewolf hunters, all of them. It's just a matter of time until they find out I'm one of them." Mina shifted closer to her, took a daisy and tucked it behind her ear, smiling at the way it contrasted so well with her pink hair. "But we're not going to let that happen. Only few weeks and you'll be allowed to live by yourself."

"Well, it was kinda different. Tzu had this huge attachment to her family, and her adoptive mom was actually few months pregnant when I killed her. Again, I had no idea she was but I'm telling you, if a vampire turns off his emotions, he becomes literally reckless and there's no taming him. When my dearest friends somehow managed to slap some sense into me, the guilt I felt for killing a pregnant woman tortured me for months," the redhead continued, looking at the two of them disapprovingly. "Will you stop being so lovey-dovey in public?!"

"It's not our fault your raven-haired Prince Charming hasn't arrived yet," the blonde woman spoke sassily. "And there's nothing lovey-dovey about this whatsoever."
"I feel bad for the pregnant woman's child you killed. So close to seeing daylight, and then..." The werewolf pouted a little.

"Don't bring it up or I'll feel guilty about it again. The past is in the past. It's not like you haven't killed anyone, either. We all know werewolves have to kill to trigger the curse. Who did you kill, anyway?" Mina shot him a warning glare, indicating that this might be a sensitive topic. But to both of their surprise, Chaeyoung didn't look very fazed by the question anymore.

"We had this one high school party, everyone was invited and there was this typical mean girl, making a huge deal out of herself, pushing everyone around, spitting on people, bullying them, whatever. I was pretty drunk and that bitch angered me so much, she was blocking the way and I was behind her on the top of the stairs, I felt sick and wanted to get downstairs to get some fresh air and my impatience got the best of me and I ended up pushing her off the stairs. Let's just say, there were a lot of stairs. And they were wooden." Taehyung's mouth formed an 'O'-shape.
"So she died?"

She nodded. "Evidently. It was hella creepy, when people started realizing a girl was dead, everyone was panicking and for a few moments, it felt like I went deaf out of shock. And then, every little sound was overwhelming to me. Like, I just killed a person. I started feeling like I was someone else. I ran outside and saw my reflection in the pond of the house's garden, and all of a sudden, my eyes turned yellow. It was a full moon, by that, and I didn't turn into a wolf yet, but it was surely painful. I thought I was going crazy, imagine seeing yourself with yellow eyes and feeling all your bones crack without a reason." Taehyung, having listened attentively, blinked with his jaw half dropped.

"A high school party? That sounds like an inconvenient place to trigger a werewolf curse. And what do we learn from this, kids? Never go to high school parties. You'll lose your innocence, get grinded on to horrible music, become a drunkard, throw up or accidentally kill someone. Or all of the above, if you're super lucky." Both girls laughed at this, keeping themselves as quiet as possible.
"Believe me, I'll never go to a party ever again," Chaeyoung assured after calming down again.

"Taehyung?" And all of a sudden, Jungkook stood right behind them, wearing a dark hoodie with dark sweatpants to match his dark hair, as always. "Can I talk to you?"
Mina and Chaeyoung gave each other knowing glances, wiggling their eyebrows and making subtle kissing noises when Taehyung nodded and lifted himself off the ground. He regretted telling them about the kiss they had shared in that moment and felt his cheeks heat up in embarrassment, hoping that the human hadn't taken notice.

After they had arrived at a more secluded area, the backyard where no one ever seemed to be, Jungkook started to talk. "Don't you think you should give the dude that necklace? You'll get into so much trouble if you don't." The vampire groaned, his head hitting the white wall as he threw it back. "Not you too, you're just like Mina! Why does everyone keep talking about that shitty necklace?"

Jungkook took a step closer to him to make his point clear. "Because it's important! A guy like this, an Original or whatever he calls himself, imagine what he'd do to you if you keep defying him. He could hurt you. Or Mina, or Chaeyoung, Jimin, Namjoon, anyone you ever talked to. Me, too." Leaning his back completely against the wall, Taehyung sighed.

"But I liked being the powerful one. I'm not used to giving in and letting others have their way, it'll make me feel weak. Plus, the person who gave me this necklace... She was pretty much family to me, and this is the only thing left of her. I didn't keep that thing safe for a century just to hand it over to some Original." The human nodded slowly, understanding his situation.

He leaned next to him, thinking of how to put his thoughts into words. "You know, sometimes, the ones who give in are the smarter ones. You don't have to put up a fight for everything, you fought enough for a lifetime. I'd say take your time to let go and then cooperate. Giving him the necklace doesn't make you weak, it makes you stronger. Because you're letting go of something that you value, and that takes courage." Taehyung stayed silent for a minute.

"Perhaps you're right. Maybe I do need to let go. But not yet. Oh, I don't know, give me some time. When did you become so deep and meaningful, anyways?" Jungkook grinned and propped himself up with his arm, so that he was now facing the redhead who was still leaning against the wall in deep thought.
"There are many sides to me that you don't know yet."

Taehyung snickered. "Oh, really? I think I know you pretty well." The younger seemed to move a little closer. "Then I'd like to hear your thoughts about me."
The vampire took a deep breath, feeling his heartrate pick up and desperately trying to calm it down. "Well... You like being independant and you don't let your family and their legacy define you. You're awfully observant and like playing detective sometimes, which can be painfully annoying. The first time we met, you scolded me for 'treating women badly', which I didn't! But I guess you're kind of a gentleman who sticks up for people."

"You think I'm a gentleman?" Taehyung looked up and found himself gazing straight into the ravenette's eyes, eyes dreamy and seemingly full of tiny little stars. That sight seemed to take away his ability to speak for a moment.
"Well... you--you could say that. Anyways, you seem to like eating cup noodles. You're really shit at cleaning your room. You like to stay physically active and you like having fun. You keep denying that you have a thing for redheads, but I know you do. You seem a little grumpy at first, but you get nicer once you get to know someone. You also like to help people. You're-- quite physically attractive but you don't make a big deal of yourself like a jerk. And, um..."

"Yes, keep going?" Jungkook's eyes crinkled and he was clearly trying to surpress a smile. The two of them were still maintaining eye contact.
"You... you frustrate me sometimes. You keep flirting with me and do shit like this but you never actually do anything! And then, when I least expect it, you show up at my doorstep and... you know what! And then, you pretend like nothing happened and, well, I never know what to think!" Taehyung couldn't control the words coming out of his mouth. Ironically, it felt like he was under a mind compulsion, although that obviously was not the case.

"So you want me to do something?" The human lifted himself off the wall so that he now stood face to face with him, closer than the vampire could handle.
"May--Maybe," he stammered.
"Really?"

"Okay, yes."
"Wait, really?" Taehyung rolled his eyes.
"I already said yes, you idiot."

And although this wasn't the first time and he already kind of saw it coming, it felt just as surprising when Jungkook's face came closer and closer and within a second, he felt those sweet lips on his own again, the other's hands found their place left and right of his head. With his heart hammering loudly inside his chest, the redhead automatically closed his eyes and immediately felt frustrated with himself for enjoying it this much. But he didn't fight this sentiment of pure joy, he embraced it fully.

At the other side of the wall, two girls were listening attentively and started giggling quietly as they peeked over and saw their dearest, ever so stubborn and feisty vampire friend completely immersed in a deep kiss with a mere yet somehow very special human boy.
