20: The Notepad
"O-Oh, hi."
Hesitantly, Taehyung grabbed the stranger's hand and shook it with a forced smile on his face. God must really hate him. First, he got 'kidnapped' by Jeon Jungkook and now he had to meet his stupid roommate, too?
The boy called Jung Hoseok gave an extremely friendly and also slightly intimidating impression, his smile happy and his eyes shining with hope and positivity, yet he could tell this person could also be scary if he wanted to. There was also something extremely familiar about him, something Taehyung couldn't quite wrap his mind around. However, he did remember seeing the brunette shortly before the bowling trip with Jimin & Co., now feeling a horrible emotion creeping up inside him as he suddenly realized he was basically exposed. Someone knew about him, for real. What if Jungkook told his friends, or his roommate?
"Woah dude, you okay there? That looks nasty," Hoseok suddenly asked mid-handshake, pointing towards the vervain bruises on the redhead's wrists.
"Do you need to speak to the police? My dad's a police officer," he then suggested, Taehyung wildly shaking his head and internally panicking.
"Oh, no. This is just an allergic reaction, I'm fine," he excused himself and gave Jungkook an angry side glare, the ravenette looking at him apologetically as he really did not know the herb would cause him that much pain.
"If you say so. But like, Jungkook's so not the type to bring anyone here, not even his girl. Or boy. You must be special." The roommate slightly winked, the vampire's eyes widening.
Oh, god. No, no, no.
"No, Hoseok! It's nothing like that! We just had some business to discuss," Jungkook immediately defended himself with his eyes filled with pure panic. Hoseok did not seem convinced in the slightest and wiggled with his eyebrows.
"Business that made you skip dance practise and bring someone into your dorm. Must be a hell of an important one. A piece of advice, you should really clean your room before bringing someone. Untidy rooms can make you look unattractive. Ah, there's my water bottle," he spoke lightly, grabbing a neon green bottle laying near the youngest's feet and left the room after shouting a short "goodbye!" at them.
When the door shut close, Jungkook let out a deep breath. "I'm sorry about that. He's always out around that time normally, I didn't know he'd come," he spoke, scratching his nape.
"Of course I'm also sorry for bringing you here. I shouldn't have done that. And I should have cleaned my room, but I've been so busy lately."
The redhead sighed deeply. "I need time to process this. All of this. Just... don't tell anyone. That includes Jimin and Namjoon. What if they want to expose me completely or kill me? It's too risky." He massaged his temples, feeling way too stressed to deal with all of this. It wasn't like he had a choice, though.
"Are you going to run away? Now that someone found out about your secret? And what about my parents?"
Jungkook's questions from before rang inside his ears. What was he going to do? He did not want to leave his gorgeous mansion. He also did not want to put himself into trouble.
However, who was he kidding? It was the trouble that usually found him first.
"I'll think about it," the ravenette then answered which made him snap his head up. "Oh no, no. We are not doing this. I'm not foolish enough to let a human control and blackmail me. I have dignity. And you will give me a proper answer. Can I trust you not to snitch on me or do I really have to kill you and your entire bloodline to make you see that I'm not one to be toyed around with?," he snapped.
Jungkook held up his hands in defense. "Jesus, chill. Fine, I won't tell them. But... Can I walk you home once? I liked the paintings in your lobby. And your gemstone box. The memories keep popping up, I really miss that place." The vampire scoffed at his blatancy.
He remembers...
"Even if I wanted to, I couldn't. A witch put a protection barrier around it, so I'm the only one who can enter the alleyway and no one can follow. There's a detour through the woods, but no way you'd be able to find it." But Jungkook didn't stop his hopes just there.
"You could ask her to make an exception. I mean, there surely are ways to reverse the spell. I'll send you a text so you can remember. But for now you're free to go, have a safe trip home. Unless you wanna stay?" Again, Taehyung scoffed, looking around the untidy room with his nose scrunched in distaste.
"I do not. Don't even bother texting me, I most likely won't answer anyways. Jerk." He held his nose high up the air as he turned around sharply and strutted towards the exit. His eyebrows furrowed as he saw a little notepad laying in front of his feet. He picked it up with curiosity, the ravenette's expression morphing into one of pure mortification when he realized.
"Fuck! I dropped that on my way here, give it back!," he shouted in panic and ran towards him, Taehyung glaring triumphantly and leaving the room with vampire speed. Conveniently, none of the doors were locked. Jungkook surely wasn't a kidnapping master.
"What a fucking dimwit. Can't even lock a damn door," he whispered to himself.
°○●○●○°
When Jungkook said "I'll send you a text so you can remember", he seemed to mean "I'll constantly pester you with my annoying presence and ask you millions of unnecessary questions." His obsession with vampirism most definetely hadn't stopped after all.
Every single day following, he sent Taehyung a completely random question about what it was like being a vampire, how old they could get, how strong they were and so on.
Jeon Jungkook...
I just have one more random question, can I ask it?
Sent 5:01PM
You
Like the other millions of random questions you've asked me before?
Do I even have a choice?
Sent 5:45PM
Jeon Jungkook...
This just made me think.
In Harry Potter, Quirrell scented his classroom with garlic because he was scared of vampires and wanted to keep them away.
Does garlic really help?
Sent 5:46PM
You
You haven't changed at all, have you?
You still believe in that stupid kids' book?!
Garlic doesn't do shit to us,
some of us even like the smell of it!
What an awful generalization.
Who even comes up with those stupid ideas?!
Sent 5:55PM
Jeon Jungkook...
So the garlic thing isn't true? Damn.
And not all of you guys are from Romania, apparently...
And you appear on photos and in reflections?
My whole childhood's a lie
Sent 5:56PM
You
Romania?! Absolutely not!
Vervain is the only thing that can torture us, haven't your Hunter parents taught you anything?
Who even comes up with this idiocy?
Just like that stupid movie we watched. Sparkling in the sun, I beg you.
Sent 6:10PM
Jeon Jungkook...
I've got to agree with you on that one,
Twilight sucks.

Huffing, the vampire threw his phone next to him onto the bed. Jungkook's little notepad that he had snatched lay right next to him, never had he had the courage to open it. The ravenette seemed to have magically forgotten about it, but he looked so panicked when it got to Taehyung, so there must be something ominous written inside it.
Then again, he did not share his parents' beliefs and wishes. He was pretty much a normal university student. This could simply be doodles, sketches, extremely dirty thoughts or rants about his crush on someone. Or perhaps, all at once.
He had already told Mina about the little book. And the kidnapping. She was mortified, to say the least. Although Taehyung did have a feeling the ravenette wasn't all too much of a threat and reassured her about it, she definetely wasn't too fond of him and thought he was highly dangerous. But although she was a hundred percent convinced he was pure evil, she didn't see any other option but to trust her friend to keep an eye on him and not do anything risky. At least for now.
She'd also strongly suggested him to open the notepad to check it for any secret information about him or his family. Why Taehyung had not done so up until now, he did not know. Perhaps, he felt a little bad about invading someone's privacy just like that. But actually, he was a tad curious after all.
And after Mina suggested him to open the damn thing for about the hundredth time, he actually went along and did it.
His breath hitched as he opened the first page. Because it was his name, written on the first line of that very page.
'Kim Taehyung
-He's our new uni student. I don't like judging people just by their appearance but there's something extremely sketchy about him. Call me crazy but he radiates this weird, kind of spooky aura. Plus, life's being kind of uneventful at the moment. So starting from today, I will be keeping tabs on him. Jimin, being the social butterfly he is, immediately befriended him. This shouldn't be too hard.'
The vampire furrowed his eyebrows. So he was practically being stalked the whole time? By Jeon Jungkook? Lord have mercy on his soul... He didn't know what to think at all.
Feeling a bit uncanny, he kept reading.
'-Kim Taehyung is kind of rude. And prudish.
-Kim Taehyung has horrible temper and is unreasonable. Plus, he looks like a diva. An annoying diva.
-Kim Taehyung seems to think he's always right.
-He's being awfully dodgy when he's asked questions at the lunch table. Is he hiding something?'
Taehyung tried not to feel offended. With his lips pursed, he kept reading along the carelessly scribbled lines though all he wanted to do was throw the damn notepad away.
Though he didn't exactly have the right to complain. When he had met Jungkook for the first time, he had probably thought even worse.
'-Kim Taehyung wears a purple ring, expensive-looking and shaped like some sort of water lily. He says it's a family heirloom, but is it really?
-Kim Taehyung's name is Kim Taehyung. Why does it sound so familiar to me?
-Kim Taehyung has red hair.
-Hold up, you're not gonna believe this. Kim Taehyung is really suspicious. Him and Jimin were just alone in the bathroom, and all of a sudden, Jimin started screaming!'
The last event, how could he ever forget it? Probably the very thing that exposed him in the first place. He'd probably spend the next few centuries regretting it. However, he didn't exactly have a choice.
'-Kim Taehyung is a really bad liar.
-Kim Taehyung's ex tried to throw him off a ship?!?!?? What the fuck?!?!?
-Kim Taehyung actually made me feel a tiny bit better about my breakup with Yuju. Can you believe it?
-
Kim Taehyung has red hair. It actually suits him quite well.
-Kim Taehyung seems to like Namjoon a bit.'
The vampire's eyes got slightly rounder as he read along. Did Jungkook really pay that much attention to him?
'-Remember that time I was obsessed with vampires? And miraculously, my parents, the psychos, tried to convince me to join some vampire-killing cult and told me they actually do exist? What if they have a point?!
-Kim Taehyung might be a vampire?! -> He says he's diabetic and drinks some special tea that no one else should drink, wears some special ring that he can't take off, everything he tells us about his past sounds hella fake... Who knows?'
-Kim Taehyung sucks at bowling.
-Kim Taehyung is an extreme lightweight. You should've seen him, he's literally crazy!!!
-Kim Taehyung is bold. And shameless. He can also be flirty(?). Not saying it's a bad thing, though.
-Kim Taehyung called me cute...'
Again, Taehyung was surprised by how much attention the other had paid to him. And the surprise was not necessarily negative.
'-Back to my "Kim Taehyung might be a vampire"-theory. The alleyway he lives in- it's literally crazy! I can't enter it, I physically can't! What if there's magic involved?
-Kim Taehyung likes watching night skies.
-Kim Taehyung looks surprisingly adorable in unicorn onesies.
-Apparently, Kim Taehyung's been to America and Australia. He either has rich parents or he's a vampire with loads of time on his hands.'
Did the ravenette just call him adorable?! The redhead's eyes slightly widened.
'-Kim Taehyung doesn't like Namjoon after all.
-Kim Taehyung seems to have a lot of exes. And he's not a virgin. Is that relevant?
-Kim Taehyung's not actually prudish or full of himself, he's just confident. And he doesn't let anybody drag him down. Which is actually nice.
-Oh my god. What if Kim Taehyung is HIM?!?!?!?
-Okay, everything adds up. I'm fully convinced of it. He is a vampire!!!'
And that's where the entry ended.
Taehyung didn't know why, but he didn't feel anxious or angry reading this little notepad, not at all. Surprised, yes.
But instead of frowning deeply, he somehow smiled.
He was quite intrigued at the way Jungkook seemed extremely grumpy and intimidating when appearing in person but actually just hearing his thoughts listed up made him seem kind of... sweet and adorably clumsy, even.
